Dramatic Dream Team 12/22/2024 Never Mind 2024

Kazuma Sumi, Takeshi Masada & Yuni vs. DAMNATION T.A (Ilusion & MJ Paul) & Demus

Dem throws and armdrags Sumi. Sumi spinning headscissors Dem and they square off. Masada and Ill go at it. Ill eye rakes him then Masada hits a dropkick. Yuni hits shots on Ill then flying headscissors him. Yuni spinning heel kicks him.

Ill uppercuts Yuni. Yuni is sent into the post. Ill rakes Yuni's eyes on the ropes. Dem suplexes Yuni. Dem stands on Yuni in the corner then slams him. Dem elbow drops him for 2.

Yuni hits forearms on Paul and takes a bolo punch. Yuni spin kicks him and Paul shoulders him over. Yuni rolls into a cutter on him. Masaada and Ill then then hit springboard dropkicks as they get in. Ill flipping neckbreakers Masada. They trade forearms. Masada high kicks him. Ill bulldogs him off the casadora and takes a flying knee.

Sumi comes in. He armdrags Dem off the ropes then Dem tilt-a-whirl backbreakers him. Dem has 2 opponents on him and spins both. Yuni takes a double burning hammer then Sumi gets one as well. Paul splashes Sumi and Dem sentons Sumi. Dem muscle busters Sumi and picks up the win.

Thoughts: It was an okay opener with the heels dominating before getting the win. The faces didn't get as much offense in as you would hope though.

I won't be covering the Dino match. Great-O'Khan, maybe Yoh and someone else came out after and talked Dino after and they seemed to set up a match.

Jun Akiyama, Keigo Nakamura & Shinya Aoki vs. HARASHIMA, Yuki Ishida & Yukio Naya

Naya side headlocks Jun then shoulders him over. Jun forearms him off the apron and they stare down outside. HS and Keigo get in. HS side headlocks him then shoulders him over. HS legdrops him. Keigo does a weird roll over his back. Keigo gets on his shoulders and legdrags him down. Keigo then dropkicks him.

HS facekicks Keigo and kicks him in the back. Naya chops Keigo up then throws him from the backdrop lift. Naya crabs Keigo. Yuki hits multiple slams on Keigo then hiptosses him. HS hits chest kicks on Keigo then corner facekicks him.

Keigo top rope dropkicks him. Aoki gets in and flying forearms HS. HS 2nd rope superplexes him. Aoki does a full nelson and they trade kicks. Both go down after high kicks. Jun and Naya collide with shoulders. Jun lariats him then running knees him for 2. Naya elbow drops Jun. Naya then chokeslams him for 2. Jun superplexes Naya.

Keigo hits forearms on Naya then chest kicks. Naya knocks him over with a forearm. Yuki corner lariats Keigo then running battering rams him while he's seated. Yuki suplexes him for 2. Keigo takes a corner splash from Yuki and Naya. HS springboard splashes KEigo then Yuki top rope splashes Keigo for 2.

Keigo rolls up Yuki then Yuki backdrops him for 2. Keigo hits headkicks and pins Yuki.

Thoughts: Keigo got beat up for most of this. You'd think they were going to do a face in peril segment but then he just grabbed the pin without too much build behind it. Some of the work was okay in this but it could have been better.

Jun and Naya stare down after. Aoki talks to Keigo on the mic after.

The 37KAMIINA (MAO & To-y) & Soma Takao vs. Burning (Tetsuya Endo & Yuya Koroku) & Akito

This should be good. Endo side headlock takeovers Mao then side headlocks him again. He shoulders him over then goes back to the headlock. Yuya and Mao trade forearms. Mao's team does a triple drop down then hits elbow drops. Yuya takes a triple basement dropkick.

Yuya hits forearms on Mao. Mao chest kicks him down. Yuya takes triple boots in the corner and Mao lays on the 2nd rope, butting both his feet in Yuya's face. Soma basement dropkicks Yuya. Yuya and Toy trade forearms for chops. Toy dropkicks him for 2. Yuya takes kicks and forearms from Toy and Mao. Yuya waterwheel drops Mao. Endo handspring corkscrew kicks Soma. Yuya topes out. Yuya 2nd rope diving forearms Toy for 2. Yuya trips Toy then Toy step up enzugiri's him for 2. Toy misses a top rope crossbody. Endo tilt-a-whirl backbreakers Toy then Yuya top rope knee drops Toy while he's held there. Mao hits a hard punch then takes a pele kick from Endo. Akito karelin's lifts Soma then Toy half-nelson slams Akito. Toy and Yuya trade forearms. Toy hits a flying dropkick then a flying single leg dropkick.

Endo handsprings into a corkscrew kick from Mao. Toy half-nelson suplexes Yuya. Toy hits a weird chest first drop on Yuya for 2. Toy knees Yuya multiple times. Yuya does an AT lock on Toy and submits him.

Thoughts: This one mostly focused on Toy vs Yuya. It was a good, fast paced match as expected with some nice highlights. Yuya did a lot of selling here an dshowed off some of his spirit. Endo got his usual flips in. It was what I expected and made me want to see a Toy/Yuya match.

Super Sasadango Machine vs. Yuki Ueno

Sasa does some kind of powerpoint presentation before the match. Sasa wears his title belt as the match starts.

They trade forearms and shoulderblock battle. Sasa shoulders him over. Yuki plancha's him outside then ends up dropping Sumi from earlier onto Sasa. Yuki flying hip attacks Sasa in the corner then vader bomb style double knee drops him. Yuki handstand double knee drops him and rolls him into a bow and arrow.

Yuki tries to slam him but Sasa falls on him. Sasa fallaway slams him. Sasa corner lariats him then hits a lifting ddt for 2. Yuki avoids an F-5 and hits a shining wizard for 2.

Yuki misses a moonsault. sumi gets on the aprons and Yuki forearms him into Sasa on the floor. Yuki then asai moonsaults Sumi. Sasa throws Sumi into Yuki and those two fight on the floor. I think Shunma Katsumata also gets a shot in on Sumi outside.

Sasa and Yuki trade in the ring. Yuki dropkicks him. Yukihits a top rope splash but he hurts his stomach landing on the title belt Sasa has (Sasa showed that there were maybe some kind of spikes on it in the powerpoint presentation). Sasa rolls up Yuki for 2.

Yuki dropkicks Sasa then slams him on the belt. Sasa then rolls up Yuki and pins him.

Thoughts: This was mostly comedy and I have no clue what was going on here. Suffice to say, it wasn't that good.

Yuki's belly has some blood on it from landing on the title. The two then talk on the mic after.

Tomohiro Ishii vs. Yuki Iino

And this is why I'm reviewing this. This should be good. They lock up and shoulder battle. Iino shoulders him over. Ino slams Ishii. They trade forearms. Ishii hits forearms and chops in the corner. Ishii hits chops then hits some hard ones to throat.

Ishii foot slaps him. Iino boots him out of the corner and shoulders him over. Iino hits corner splashes then suplexes him. Iino hits chops then Ishii suplexes him. Ishii corner lariats him and Iino shoulderblocks him. Ishii hits a backdrop for 2. They trade chops and Iino chops him down.

Iino rams him ino the corner then Ishii powerslams him. Iino no sells it then backdrops him. Ishii germans him. Ishii goes for a running lariat and gets pounced. They lariat each other at the same time and both go down. They collide and Ishii hits some hard lariats.

Iino lariats him back then takes more lariats. They both lariat each other down then Iino samoan drops him. Iino does an elbow drop. Iino lariats him then running lariats him for 2. Ishii hits a hard forearm and both go down. Iino spinning forearms him. Ishii hits a forearm combo then Iino chops him. Ishii hits headbutts and knocks him down. Ishii just running bodyblocks him for 2.

Iino blocks a sliding lariat. Ishii dragon suplexes him then lariats him for 1. Ishii running lariats him for 2. Iino spears him then hits a better spear for 2. Ishii blocks a spear. The announcers all think Ishii hits a ddt but apparently Iino hits a spinebuster. Ishii enzugiri's him then sliding lariats him for 2. Ishii brainbusters him and picks up the win.

Thoughts: It was a good hard-hitting match as expected. Not quite the classic I was hoping for though. I think some of that is just due to Ishii being older and not wanting to do anything too stupid. Ishii won here as expected. This was mostly all lariats and chops.

Calamari Drunken Kings (Chris Brookes & Masahiro Takanashi) vs. DAMNATION T.A (Daisuke Sasaki & KANON)

DS = Daisuke Sasaki, MT = Masahiro Takahashi, CB = Chris Brookes

DS and Mt trade some basic holds on the mat and stand off. CB comes in and facekicks DS off the apron. Kan eye rakes CB then shoulders him over. CB pump kicks Kan. Kan is put in a wristlock by both opponents then Michael Nakazawa poses on Kan.

DS' team are put on each other, put in a hold then take a senton together. DS chokes MT with a band then hangs him with it over the ropes. CB is sent into the post. DS bangs CB's leg off the post then chairs the leg. Kan ties up CB's leg then knee drops it. DS stomps on CB's leg then butt drops it. Kan clips CB and single leg crabs him. Kan dragon screws CB around the 2nd rope. DS bangs CB's leg off the mat.

CB hits chops on DS. DS ankle locks him and Mt breaks it up. CB takes a 2v1 then does a 2nd rope dropkick + senton combo. MT lariats Kan, forcing him to ddt DS. MT crossfaces DS. DS ddt's MT. Kan volleyball spikes MT hten pumphandle slams him for 2.

MT is dropped chest first on the mat. CB 2nd rope double stomps Kan then dropkicks DS in the side of the head. Kan takes a superkick into a piledriver for 2. CB slaps MT on accident then takes a big lariat from Kan.

MT is put in an abdominal stretch at the same time and he hiptosses CB into them. CB bow and arrows DS while MT doe an octopus to Kan. DS' crew comes in and breaks all this up. CB's group then interferes and hits a 4 person superkick on DS.

DS superkicks MT then pedigrees CB. DS superkicks CB then CB hits a big lariat on DS for 2. CB is given a chair. CB uses it on DS then tombstones him for 2. CB jay drillers DS and wins.

Thoughts: I didn't like this much. It had interference and just wasn't paced that well. The work also wasn't anything great.

CB talks on the mic after and says merry christmas with his team.

Overall thoughts: The main didn't deliver. Iino/Ishii was good just not a classic you need to go see. Ueno's match as all comedy. I liked the Endo trios match and the opener was okay. I didn't watch the Dino match. I'd give it a 5 out of 10 overall as there was a mix of stuff I liked and didn't like. I wouldn't recommend it though.

Dramatic Dream Team 3/17/2024 DDT Judgement 2024 ~ 27th Anniversary 5 Hour Special ~

Dramatic Dream Team 3/17/2024 DDT Judgement 2024 ~ 27th Anniversary 5 Hour Special ~

I haven't seen much DDT this year. I don't like comedy wrestling and with Honda, Dino and Harata around, there's potentially 3 matches sometimes on the card I don't want to see which doesn't leave a lot left. It's also just been hard to squeeze it in with all of the other stuff I watch and Takeshita not being around also made me lose some interest.

Here's what I saw:

Soma Takao vs Tsubasa Suzuki

This is the debut match of Tsubasa Suzuki

Soma takes him down and side headlock takeovers him. TS headscissors him and they get up. Soma shoulders hi mover then TS hurricanrana's him. Soma slaps him then stomps on him. Soma snapmares and legdrops him. Soma slaps him then crabs him. TS ropebreaks.

TS hits a nice dropkick then tope con hilos outside. TS springboard dropkicks him. TS running euros him for 2. Soma 2nd rope dropkicks him and kips up. Soma 2nd rope kneedrops him for 2. TS hits forearms then is forearmed down. TS roearms an running forearms him.

Soma sits on the top rope and TS jumps up to hurricanrana him in one motion. TS misses a phoenix splash and is superkicked. Soma superkicks him for 2. TS rolls him up then Soma running forearms him. Soma hits a ki krusher and wins it.

Thoughts: It went a little long for being a one-sided match. It was a good debut for Suzuki here. He's agile, young and decent looking but on the downside, he's short. It's DDT though and it won't matter.

Soma walks Suzuki to the back after and Dino tries to kiss Suzuki

Ilusion, Rukiya & To-y vs. Kazuma Sumi, Yuni & Yuya Koroku

Yuya and Ruki go at it. They do some amateur wrestling. Yuya side headlock takeovers him and is headscissored. Ruki side headlocks him and shoulders him over. Yuya armdrags him then 2nd rope forearms him. Ruki boots Sumi in the gut then Sumi hits a nice dropkick on him.

Ruki slams Sumi. Ill slingshot swantons Sumi then does a double underhook suplex on him. Ill then does a dragon sleeper variation on him. Toy chops Sumi then corner dropkicks him. Sumi hits chops and dropkicks on Toy. Toy suplexes him for 2. Sumi 2nd rope diving hurricanrana's Toy.

Yuni springboard dropkicks Ill and flying headscissors Ruki. Yuni rolls into a cutter on Toy then Yuni moonsaults outside. Yuni rolls Ill into a pin attempt then superkicks Ill. Yuni hits a buzzsaw kick then Ill dropkicks him.

Ruki and Yuya trade forearms. Ruki rolls him into a suplex for 2. Yuya air raid crashes Ruki. Toy comes in and flying kicks Yuya. Toy flips on an enzugiri on him then hits a half-nelson slam for 2. Sumi tornado ddt's Toy then Yuni does the same to Toy. Sumi and Yuni miss plancha's outside then Yuya misses a top rope moonsault inside. Yuya is backdropped then takes some wild spinning drop on his chest. Toy pins Yuya.

Thoughts: It was a fast paced and fun juniors match. It was absolutely what you would want in this spot and they did a good job flying around and keeping things interesting.

Gorgeous Matsuno & Toru Owashi vs. Keisuke Ishii & Shinichiro Kawamatsu

SK is wrestling in a suit. Ishii and GM go at it.GM stares down SK as he chest forearms Ishii. GM takes a big chop and is hurting. Toru won't tag in on his tag. GM flying forearms Ishii and goes up top. He takes forever and Ishii gets up. GM then gets down from the top. Toru and SK get in.

SK takes him down and runs the ropes to shoulderblock him. Toru eye rakes him. GM hits boots on SK then Ishii knees GM in the gut. GM flying shoulders SK down. Toru does a headlock takeover + headscissors takeover. Toru and SK chop each other. SK takes off his suit jacket then is facekicked. SK suplexes Toru.

GM hits chest forearms on Ishii and is hit in the chest. Toru hits a double shoulderblock on his opponents GM flying forearms Ishii and Ishii doesn't budge. GM 619's Ishii then GM hadnspring elbow drops Ishii. Ishii double knee drops GM for 2. Ishii hits a fire thunder variation on GM and wins.

Thoughts: It was all comedy here with GM being too weak and slow to do much of anything and getting beaten up by Ishii.

DAMNATION T.A (Daisuke Sasaki, KANON & MJ Paul) vs. Schadenfreude International (Antonio Honda, Chris Brookes & Masahiro Takanashi)

Honda falls off the 2nd buckle while he poses and hurts his knee. He gets on the mic and talks then gets nailed. Damnation jump the faces and 4 of them go outside. DS dragon screws and figure fours Honda. DS takes a step up enzugiri then is held so Hpnda can pose on his back. Paul airplane spins Honda and bangs his feet off of CB's and MT's heads. Kanon slams and fist drops MT.

MT takes shots from Paul and DS. DS neckbereakers him for 2. DS eye rakes MT then tilt-a-whirl backbreakers him. MT goes for the crossface then DS puts it on him. DS is tripped and held for a CB double stomp off the buckles. CB snapmares and sentons DS for 2. CB 2nd rope dropkivcks DS and sentons Kanon's back at the same time.

DS cradles CB and uses the ropes to try and pin him. DS low blows CB then ddt's him. Paul samoan drops CB then stf's him. CB and Paul trade chops for forearms. Paul hits bolo punches. CB jumping knees him and enzugiri's him before getting caught with a thesz press.

Honda gets in and trips on the 2nd rope. Honda armbars Kanon. Honda's team all hit stereo bionic elbows together. Honda tries to run the ropes but hurts himself then trips on an asai moonsault attempt and goes down. Honda gets on the mic and everyone just stops wrestling. He sings "happy happy happy" and then sings about his male parts. Honda eye pokes 2 opponents, a partner and himself due to Kanon. Honda takes a top rope elbow drop + dominator combo.

CB enzugiri's DS then slaps MT. Kanon dropkicks CB out then Honda rolls up Kanon by surprise. Honda gets 2 more pin attempts then takes a grounded cobra twist. Honda then taps out.

Thoughts: It was what I expected - a match that would have been fine except for Honda's comedy. I didn't like Honda stopping the match here to screw around on the mic.

Sanshiro Takagi vs. Ken Ohka

Ken has a cool entrance here coming out with his Ganbare Pro roster cheering for him.

They tade forearms. Ken shoulders him over and is german suplexed. They go out and ST throws him into the post. ST slams Ken then chairs him. ST foot chokes Ken then chairs him. ST beats him with the chair seat then crabs him. Ken is thrown out then facekicked off the apron.

Ken is deadlift 2nd rope superplexed in. ST is on the buckles and takes headbutts and a superplex. Ken hits forearms and a rolling fireman's carry. Ken runs into a guillotine choke and ST gets a 2 count off of it. ST hits a big lariat on Ken. Yumehito Imanari comes down and gives ST the middle finger.

ST powerbombs Ken. They trade slaps and Ken suplexees him. Ken hits a stunner then they trade more slaps. Ken headbutts him then running lariats him. Ken running spears him and wins it.

Thoughts: I thought it was a decent match actually. Takagi beat up and bullied Ken. Ken the made his big comeback and won. Ken looks like a normal guy but he really performed well here and really seemed to understand the underdog face role.

Ken does a fiery crying promo after and Takagi read something off a script to him.

Shuji Ishikawa & Yoshitatsu vs. Kazusada Higuchi & Yukio Naya

Naya and Yoshi go at it.  Naya chops him and Yoshi side headlocks him. They shoulder battle and Naya knocks him over. Shuji and Kh go at it. They shoulder battle and KH flying shoulders him. The four go outside and fight. KH is sent into the chairs. Shuji jumps off the rail outside and doublestomps KH. Yoshi sends Naya into the post.

Naya gets in and corner splashes Yoshi. Naya elbow drops him then trades forearms with Yoshi. Yoshi step up enzugiri's him then backcrackers him. Shuji running shoulders Naya in the corner then 2nd rope double stomps him. Shuji corner lariats Naya then Naya corner splashes him. They trade forearms. Naya hits chest kicks then knees him twice.

KH 2nd rope elbow drops Shuji for 2. KH hits chops, a palm strike to the chest and a russian legsweep to Shuji. He then facelocks him with a claw. Shuji takes a running corner lariat and shoulder then is double shouldered over. Yoshi takes a double chokeslam. KH powerslams Shuji for 2. Shuji backdrops KH for 2.

Yoshi and Naya trade. Yoshi facekicks him and codebreakers him. KH and Shuji lariat battle then KH running lariats him down. KH running headbutts Shuji for 2. Shuji fire thunders KH for 2. Shuji running knees KH for 2. Shuji hits splash mountain on KH and wins.

Thoughts: It was a good heavyweight tag here. They used Yoshi well here and they kept the focus to the heavyweights beating each other up. It really was a best case scenario type of match here and I liked it.

DDT Extreme Title Painful Jungle Death Match - Shunma Katsumata (c) vs. Hideki Okatani

They have vines around the ropes and some kind of board with barbed wire and a toy snake in the grass in the middle of he ring. I believe there's gusset plates, barbed wire and skewer sticks on the buckles.

Shun is hiptossed onto the barbed wire board then has his head pressed into it. Oka misses a corner charge and goes into barbed wire twice and Shun does as well. Oka is dropkicked into maybe a safety pin board in the corner. Shun stands on Oka's body, pushing it into the pins. Shun's busted open and puts a gusset plate into Oka's head.

Oka is thrown into the barbed wire board with the toy snake and is bleeding everywhere. Oka and Shun go into the barbed wire buckle. Shun is flapjacked and bulldogged onto a gusset plate buckle for 2. Oka throws a skewer stick buckle at Shun then drops Shun on it.

Oka pours tacks out then Shun backslides Oka onto tacks. Oka 2nd rope russian legsweeps Shun onto tacks. Oka northern lights suplexes Shun onto tacks. Oka then gets tacks stuck in his head. Shun is hit with a trash can covered in vines.

They trade forearms. Oka spinning back elbows him. They get on the buckles and Oka is knocked down a few times. Oka 2nd rope double underhook suplexes him. Oka comes off the top and drops the barbed wire buckle onto him. They trade forearms.

Shun gives Oka skewer sticks and they put the sticks in their own heads. They forearm each other and trade forearms. Oka single leg dropkicks him and double underhook suplexes him for 2. Shun high kicks him and does a wrist-clutch death valley driver for 2. Shun superkicks him then top rope splashes a barbed wire board into him to win.

Thoughts: They definitely did too much here and I didn't like them sticking sticks in their own heads. It just defeats the purpose of the spot and shows it doesn't hurt that match. The finish was also problematic as Shun splashed a barbed wire board into Oka but of course rammed his own body into it in the process. It was a better effort than most Freedoms matches but it failed logically.

Kenta Kobashi comes out to do commentary for the next match.

KO-D Tag Team Title Match - New Period (Ryuki Honda & Yuma Anzai) vs. Burning (Tetsuya Endo & Yuki Ino)

This should be really good. I can't wait to see what Ino and Honda can do with each other.

Ino and Honda start us off. They shoulderblock battle and knock each other over. Yuma and Endo go at it. Yuma side headlocks him. Endo blocks a flying knee and Yuma armdrags him over. Endo running back elbows him. Ino lariats Endo on a failed double team then is dropkicked out.

Endo handspring back corkscrew kicks Honda for 2. Honda superplexes endo and Endo no sells it. Endo exploders Honda then Yuma hits a big dropkick on Endo. Yuma flying knees Ino then takes a big spear. Honda and Ino spear each other at the same time and bang heads in a nasty spot. Honda suplexes Ino.

Honda hits a big lariat on Endo then running lariats him for 2. Endo drops down and Ino hits a big spear on Honda for 2. Endo spinning torture rack bombs Honda. Endo top rope ssp's Honda for the win.

Thoughts: One of the problems with a stacked card like this is that there is no way everything can get enough time. What we got here was a real strong 16 minutes of wrestling. We had some cool spots and a nice mix of flying and power wrestling. It was action packed and real exciting but it really needed more time to be a classic. They made about the most you could out of the time they had and I really want a rematch of this one. It was a great match and it's just a shame we didn't get a longer version of it.

Endo has words for Honda after and Honda gives him the middle finger. Jun Akiyama is called out by Endo for something after.

DDT Universal Title Match - MAO (c) vs. Takeshi Masada

TM top rope dropkicks Mao as soon as he is introduced. He stomps on him in the corner and throws the ref to the side. TM kicks Mao in the back several times then running facekicks him. Mao cutters TM over the ref. Mao running facekicks and running shotei's Mao for 2.

TM hits shots then is headbutted. Mao corkscrew kicks him and wins by knockout.

Thoughts: I'm not sure of the storyline going into this but these two had a beef and beat the crap out of each other. It only went 4 minutes but they really got a lot of out of it and established their hatred of each other well.

Konosuke Takeshita vs. Yuma Aoyagi

KT wristlocks him and Yuma reverses it. Yuma side headlock takeovers him and side headlocks him. KT hits a big forearm on the ropes. KT shoulders him over. Yuma back elbows him, KT runs the ropes fast and flying lariats him. KT slams him then 2nd rope sentons him.

KT hits a big lariat. They forearm each other. KT germans him for 2. Yuma spin kicks him, gets forearmed then hits another spin kick for 2. Yuma fisherman suplexes him for 2. KT wheelbarrow germans him then spinning forearms him for 2. Yuma back rolls him into a bridge then KT flying knees him. KT pumping knees him for 2. KT spinning falcon arrows him and wins it.

Thoughts: It was dumb for KT to win this since he's barely around and it's not enough that people like Yuma are gonna do jobs in other companies. Someone like Ueno would have benefited a lot more. It was a good by the numbers type of main. They didn't do anything too wild or amazing here but they gave you enough to be satisfied and there were no issues with it.

KO-D Openweight Title Match - Yuki Ueno (c) vs. HARASHIMA

HS = Harashima

Ueno side headlocks him and they shoulder battle. Ueno knocks him over then they go into the stands. HS has his head banged off the wall. They fight in the aisle in the seats and trade forearms for chops. Ueno ddt's him on the floor. Ueno then jumps off the step structure and hits a moonsault.

They trade shots outside and go back in. Ueno corner hip attacks him and HS gets his knees up on Ueno's move from the corner. HS wraps around the post to kick him. HS stomps on him inside and does a grounded cobra twist.

HS spinning high kicks him and is dropkicked for 2. Ueno dropkicks him then HS pumping knees him. HS hits a running pumping knee for 2.

HS buzzsaw kicks him then is dropkicked off a springboard. Ueno does a forward rolling ddt and wins it.

Thoughts: It was the usual indy garbage with Ueno. He did way too much as he usually does and didn't sell any of it, completely ruining this one. It's not really surprising, but it's a shame.

Overall thoughts: The show was over 5 hours long and DDT filled it up with some good looking matches. The only bad thing was that because there were so many matches, not everything had the time it needed to be as great as possible. The show really had everything with comedy, cruiserweights, heavyweights, interpromotional matches, debuts and deathmatches. Whatever you could want, this had it in some form or another. It was a great show and definitely recommended.

Dramatic Dream Team 2/25/2024 Into The Fight 2024

Dramatic Dream Team 2/25/2024 Into The Fight 2024

They have a sold out house here for the debut of Kaisei Takechi. It's easily the best looking wrestling crowd I've seen. Not a lot of black shirts here.

Ilusion, Yuki Ino & Yuni vs. Schadenfreude International (Antonio Honda, Chris Brookes & Masahiro Takanashi)

MT and Yuni start us off. They hammerlock each other and MT grabs him by the hair. Yuni cartwhels and backflips out of a throw then they stand off. Il and CB go at it. Il is too small for the test of strength and stomps his foot instead. CB shoulders him over then Il crossbodies him. MT trips Il outside then CB low dropkicks Il off of it.

Honda's team poses on Il. CB sentons Il and Honda trips himself on the 2nd rope. Il tkes a double punch to the gut then Honda foot rakes him. Il bulldogs MT out of the casadora. Ino shoulders over all 3 opponents then suplexes MT. Ino is tripped and takes a 2nd rope CB double stomp.

Ino back body drops CB then they trade chops. CB jumping knees and step up enzugiri's him. Ino drops CB backwards out of a flying octopus. Honda trips coming in again then grabs a mic. Honda screws around, trying to poke his opponents in the eyes and succeeding.

Yuni takes punches form all 3 opponents at the same time then him and Il dropkick them over. Ino corner splashes Honda then Yuni ddt's Honda. Yuni misses a top rope moonsault then takes an axe bomber from Honda. The heels double wristlock Yuni, but Yuni ends up on Il's shoulders. Masa and CB then roll the two and somehow press them down to get a pin.

The finish was odd and I'm not real sure how that works since Illusion would have been pinning his own partner here which doesn't count. They didn't have a ton of time here and everyone got a segment in before this ended. Without Honda's comedy segment, it might have been an okay opener.

Chris Brookes does a promo after. He does some of the English words in the way people in Japan would say them and it's odd. Zack Sabre Jr comes out. They talk in Japanese, which is again unusual and Zack seems to want a match with Yoshihiko. They set up Mao and Ueno vs Brookes and Zack for 4/7/2024

Akito & Soma Takao vs. DAMNATION T.A (Daisuke Sasaki & KANON)

The heels ask for handshakes then pound on the faces. DS shoulders Soma over. Soma kips back up then hits a dropkick. Kanon trips Soma and pulls him out then Soma is thrown into the post. DS bangs Akito's head off a chair. Kanon slams Soma then jumping fist drops him for 2.

DS lariats Soma off the buckles. Soma hits forearms on DS then 2nd rope dropkicks him. Akito dragon screws DS then dragon screws Kanon. Akito dropkicks DS in the knee then hits karelin's lift for 2.

Soma low dropkicks Kanon then Kanon hits a neat uranage on him. Soma takes corner lariats then a uranage backbreaker for 2. Kanon and Soma trade forearms then Kanon takes a double pop-up knee. Soma superkicks Kanon for 2.

Soma top rope double stomps Kanon. DS pushes the ref away when he tries to stop him from using the chair then Akito is thrown into the ref. DS low blows Soma then chairs both opponents. Kanon lariats Soma then Soma takes a top rope elbow drop + dominator. Kanon pins Soma.

It felt rushed here. There's no way the ref couldn't have seen the chair shots either. They just didn't have enough time and had to hurry through everything on this one.

MJ Paul vs. To-y

Paul no sells Toy's dropkicks then bolo punches him. Toy flying dropkicks him. Paul shoulders him over and elbow drops him. Daisuke Sasaki gets cheap shots in on Toy outside. Paul chairs Toy outside. Paul ddt's him inside then slams him. Paul hits a splash then Toy hits a chop flurry on him. Paul bolo punches him then Toy flying kicks him.

Toy flying dropkicks Paul in the corner then Toy top rope splashes him. Paul samoan drops him then STF's him. Paul hits a nasty release german then lariats him over. Paul misses a vader bomb then Sasaki and Kanon interfere. Toy dropkicks Sasaki, who falls into the ref. Toy is thrown off the top by Paul.

Paul and Kanon end up getting hit with chairs then Shunma helps out then Toy rolls up Paul to win it.

It could have been done better, but Paul was a decent heel as always and Toy was a decent face against him. It was your usual big vs small match for the most part with some heel and face stuff mixed in as well.

Kazusada Higuchi & Yoshitatsu vs. Rukiya & Yukio Naya

KH hasn't been tanning and got a haircut, so he looks different. KH and Naya shoulder battle to start. Naya knocks him over and KH chops him. Yoshi and Ruki go at it. Ruki knes him in the gut and they shoulder battle. Ruki hits forearms then dropkicks him.

Yoshi reverses a backdrop then step up enzugiri's him and backcrackers him. KH hits chops on Naya then hits a big powerslam for 2. They trade forearms for chops then Naya knees him in the gut. KH lariats him over then Naya face kicks him. Ruki gets offense in on KH and bulldogs him. KH claws him then KH takes corner attacks. Ruki hits a nice blue thunder on KH for 2.

Ruki takes a big chest slap from KH then KH doctor bombs him for 2. KH hits a stiff lariat on Ruki then claw slams him for the win.

There was a lot going on here with Yoshi being limited, Ruki being undersized and then the two big guys. I didn't think it was as good as it could have been and I don't know if they had the time they needed.

DDT Universal Title Match - MAO vs. Hikaru Machida

Machida's a kickboxing guy who appears a few times a year for DDT. Something's wrong with his right eye as it's not aligned with his left eye. He also has some very unusual ears. They trade and half-block shots. Mao hits shots on him and throws him down. Mao then does a nasty john woo dropkick, banging Machida's head off the bottom of the buckle. They get back in the ring and trade shots. Mao takes hard shots to the face then they hit each other on a combo. Mao takes punches and palm strikes him back. Machida does a cartwheel kick then takes a corkscrew kick. Mao runs the ropes into a straight punch. Machinda hits knees to the body and an uppercut. They trade palm strikes for punches here and Mao high kicks him. Mao superkicks him for a 1 count.

Machida hits a nice backdrop then big haymaker for 2. Machida punches Mao then spin kicks him in the gut. Mao stunners him. They pound fists and trade kicks to the body. They high kick each other at the same time and Mao high kicks him again. Machida hits punches then Mao michinoku drivers him to win it.

My feeling is that when you are doing matches like this, they should be shorter. The real fighter can obviously knock Mao's head off his shoulders so they shouldn't have him do too many shots here as it will make him look bad. This one went 14:27 and felt a lot longer. Mao just took a million good looking shots and didn't go down, and at one point even no sold them.

I liked the idea of Mao surviving some shots and making his comeback, but he was going even with this dude when he's not known as a striker or real tough guy. It's a shame because I would normally love this type of match as they really beat the crap out of each other, but it dragged on too long and Mao survived too much. Mao also ended up with all kinds of cuts and bumps on him from this. Machida did a good job here.

Mao and Takeshi Masada seem to set up a match after.

Hideki Okatani, Takeshi Masada & Tetsuya Endo vs. The 37KAMIINA (Shunma Katsumata & Yuki Ueno) & Kaisei Takechi

Oka kicks Kaisei's hand away on a handshake. The girls are going nuts for Kaisei, who is debuting here and was a popular music singer. Ueno and Endo shoulder battle and Endo knocks him over. Endo headlock takeovers him, take a headscissors and they stand off.

Ueno flying knees Oka then top rope frogsplashes him for 2. Ueno exploders him for 2 then Endo does a dragon suplex into a german on Ueno. Shunmaa runs up the buckles and dives outside.

Ueno and Oka trade forearms then Ueno hits a nice dropkick on him for 2 at 20 minutes. Ueno double jump moonsaults him and picks up the win.

I thought it went too long here. They had a crowd full of non-fans and I think something simpler like Kaisei getting beaten up and making his comeback in under 15 minutes would have worked fine. The match didn't flow as well as it should have and just didn't follow the usual formula.

Kaisei had a great debut here. He's a good looking dude and was a good face with some fire. He did a couple of flying moves and had a nice dropkick. The crowd was absolutely nuts for him.

Overall thoughts: I saw all but one match here. Kaisei Takechi drew a big house here and had a good debut. He's a good looking dude who can hit his stuff clean and has some fire. He will go as far as he wants to in DDT. The semi main went too long and would have been really good if it only went half the time. Mao took quite a whooping in it. I thought there was too much going on in the Kazusada Higuchi tag and I did like MJ Paul vs Toy. The Akito tag was rushed and the the opener had comedy. I wouldn't recommend this though I got through it pretty quickly.

Dramatic Dream Team 12/17/2023 D-Ou Grand Prix 2023 in Kumamoto

Dramatic Dream Team 12/17/2023 D-Ou Grand Prix 2023 in Kumamoto

Sumi tornado ddt's Oka off the up and over in the corner. Sumi double stomps him and does an asai moonsault off of it. Oka face kicks him then flying lariats him for 2. Oka hits a nice northern lights suplex for 2. Soma fights off both opponents then takes a forearm + kick combo, then a sliding D + kick combo.

Oka drops Sumi with a nice forearm after taking chops. Oka sliding lariats him for 2. Oka then does a grounded dragon sleeper and gets the tap out win.

It was a decent opener with them keeping up a fast pace and Sumi having a few highlights.

Jun Akiyama, Tetsuya Endo & Yusuke Okada vs. HARASHIMA, Rukiya & Yukio Naya

It was a good trios match with a good pace and lots of stiff shots. It wasn't super memorable or anything but this is the kind of stuff that makes DDT good.

Ino spears DS before the intros are done. DS rolls out and takes shots to the back. DS rakes at Ino then is slammed. Ino misses an elbow and DS grabs a chair. DS hits him with a chair in front of the ref and pushes the ref. Ino takes a chairshot then lariats him.

It made sense but wasn't that interesting. Ino got the early advantage then DS cheated and suck, eventually getting the pin. I didn't like the open weapons usage right in front of the ref.

D-Ou Grand Prix 2023 Block B Match - MAO vs. KANON

They tease maybe shaking hands then both give each other thumbs down. They headlock takeover each other and stand off. They shoulder battle and Kanon sknocks him over. Mao flips out of a snapmare. Mao wristlocks him, goes over and under into a roll-up. Mao then crossfaces him.

It was a very interesting and unique match. They did some of the best reversals/counters you've ever seen here and were very creative. The only issue was that most of that happened at the end of the match and not the beginning where it could have been built up more. I was really intrigued by this one and I'd say it was a good match, just very unusual.

The 37KAMIINA (Toy Kojima & Yuki Ueno) vs. Harimao (Kazusada Higuchi & Yuki Ishida)

This was a vicious and heated tag. It dragged a little in the beginning but these guys beat the crap out of each other and showed a lot of fire doing it. I really loved this one and thought it was one of the better matches of 2023 once it was all said and done. They pretty much filmed this with the ringside handheld cam too so we really got to see and hear all the various shots. Go check this one out.

Overall thoughts: It was a little long with all of the matches I saw going 10+ minutes, but everything was at least okay. I loved the main and think it's one of the better tag matches on 2023 that nobody really saw. The semi-main was creative and different. The opener was good and the 2nd match, which was a trios match, was also good as well. I would recommend this one and thought it was a good show.
