AAA Triplemania XXX: Tijuana 6/18/2022

Here's what I saw:

AAA World Cruiserweight Title / AAA Latin America Title Five Way Match - Laredo Kid vs Black Taurus vs Bandido vs Rey Fenix vs Hijo del Vikingo

Taurus takes out everyone early then gorilla press throws Vikingo out on everyone. Taurus then tornillo dives outside on people. Turus back body drops someone to the floor then takes a superkicks out from Kid and Bandido. Kid hurricanrana's Bandido and tilt-a-whirl backbreakers him. He then does a spinning driver to Vikingo and neckbreakers Fenix. Kid michinoku drivers Taurus then asai moonsaults him and twisting asai moonsaults him.

Bandido gets stuck on the middle rope and Vikingo runs up the ropes and springboard legdrops him. Biking catches Fenix's crossbody and swinging sideslams him.Vikingo step up enzugiri's Taurus then does an inverted 450 into a hurricanrana. Viking then runs up the ropes and top rope dropkicks Taurus. Vikingo then walks the rope into a springboard and dives on opponents some as he botched a little. Vikingo then one winged angel's Kid.

Taurus gets in and spinning facebusters Kid then flips over him and rams him into his knees. Taurus then belly to belly suplexes Bandido into Kid. Taurus crucifix bombs Bandido then pop-up samoan drops Fenix. Bandido springboard tornillo crossbodies Fenix. Bandido hurricanrana's Kid then satellite headscissors Taurus. Viking gets ace cuttered onto Taurus then Fenix rolls into a double cutter on two opponents. Fenix superkicks Vikingo and ripcord backbreakers Vikingo. Fenix then cutters Vikingo from the powerbomb position.

Kid takes a double superkick and Taurus knocks people off the stag and on it. Kid then hurricanrana's Taurus on the stage. Vikingo then step up poisonrana's Kid on the stage. Vikingo then bounces off the post from the stage to hurricanrana Fenix on the floor. Vikingo then runs up the ropes from the ramp and springboard 630's Kid. Kid then jumps off of Taurus' back and hurricanrana's Vikingo off the ropes. Fenix then hits a wild powerbomb from the alabama slam position on Bandido.

Taurus gets stuck up top and they do a tower of doom spot. Bandido then hits Fenix with a springboard crucifix bomb. Kid then hits a flipping ddt on Bandido. Vikingo then poisonrana's Kid and gets speared by Taurus. Taurus then hits a top rope gorilla press slam on Vikingo. They blow some spot then Bandido poisonrana's Kid as he gets crossbodied from the top and fallaway slams Taurus. Bandido then does a phosbury flop on Kid outside. Vikingo then 630's Taurus and takes a frogsplash from Taurus on the pin attempt. Fenix then double jump double stomps Taurus to win it.

This was nothing but spots and wild moves for 20 minutes. Didn't make much sense, didn't have a lot of logic and it was quite dangerous and kind of tiring to watch by the end of it.

Ruleta de la Muerte Semifinals - Blue Demon Jr. vs Pentagon Jr.

Demon goes after Penta as he is on the ramp and they brawl. Demon fireman's carry slams him on the ramp. They trade chest chops on the ramp and Demon goes to rip the mask. Demon hits an uppercut then grabs a hammer. Penta superkicks him though and he drops it. Penta gets the hammer and misses a shot then Demon hits some punches and throws him over the rails. Demon then hits headbutts on him in the crowd.

Demon gets a cookie tray and nails Penta with it then Penta comes back with slingblades. Penta then hits a nice tope con hilo outside on him and hits him with a trash can. Penta then rips up Demon's mask and hits him with the trash can. They trade shots. Demon gets stuck on the middle rope and Penta double stomps him off the top as he hangs.

Demon ddt's him for 2 then Penta backcrackers him. They do some kind of botched tilt-a-whirl counter. Demon ties Penta's mask to the ropes and throws a trash can at him. Demon then canadian destroyers him for 2. A table is set up in the ring. They fight up top and Demon hits a canadian destroyer through the table off the top to win it.

They tried in the match but they sold absolutely nothing which hurt it.

Mask vs Mask - Flammer vs Chik Tormenta

Both girls have their husbands out there and both husbands are wrestlers.

Flam dropkicks her out of the ring early then topes her. Flam then splashes her from the top to the stage. Chik comes back and dropkicks her and they fight on the ramp. Chik then suplexes her on the ramp. Chik pounds on her then fireman's carry throws her on the ramp. Chik hits some lariats then Flam makes a comeback by dropkicking her off the apron.

They trade shots on the apron and Flam takes something like a flatliner on the apron. Flam dropkicks her off the 2nd rope and Chik's husband stops her pinfall attempt. Chik's and Flam's husbands then fight and the girls dropkick each others husbands and yell at them.

Chik hits a step up enzugiri then michinoku drivers her for 2. Chik then hits a meteora for 2. Los Vipers come down to help Chik and use chairs on Flam and her husband. Flam takes a 3v1 then Flam's friends come down and help out. Chik goes for a tope on Flam but gets hit with a chair. The men and women fight and somehow the men go even with the women.

Flam and Chik fight off their knees in the ring and Flam hits a  la rosa river. Chik's husband stops the pin though and ligerbombs Flam. Chik top rope double knees Flam but flam's husband breaks it up. Flam's husband then dives on Chik's husband outside.

Flam hits a top rope hurricanrana on Chik for 2. A board is brought into the ring and Flam drives Chik through it to win it.

Chik talks on the mic then unmasks and cries after. She then hugs her husband.

This was pretty wild with the unusual situation of the husbands getting involved. Maybe not the greatest brawl ever but I thought they did a good job with it. They pulled out the bigger spots for this and really produced an interesting match. It had a lot of room to be better though.

Ruleta de la Muerte Semifinal - Psycho Clown vs Villano IV

They did a nice video package on the history of both guys. They immediately get to brawling and V4 bangs Clown's head off the mat. Clown gets his mask ripped then V4 bites his head. V4 then lariats Clown over the rail. V4 hits him with a chair and then breaks a beer bottle over his head. V4 hits him with a cookie tray then bangs his head off the post.

V4 hits him with a chair then starts punching him in the face. V4 then bangs Clown's head off the ramp. V4 continues the beat down and Clown makes a comeback. Clown dropkicks him in the back of the head for 2. Clown then chairs him and rips his mask. Clown then breaks a beer bottle over V4's head and digs the shards into V4's skull.

Clown puts V4 over the rails and dives over it on him. Clown hits him with a horn then a broom. Clown then starts pounding on him and V4 fights back from the mat. They continue the fist fight and V4 sunset flips him for 2. Clown armdrags him and puts a double reverse armbar on.

V4 puts him in a version of the octopus hold then Clown powerbombs him through a table for 2. Clown puts some tacks in the ring and they trade punches. Clown goes down and puts his hands in the tacks then punch and headbutt fluries V4. Clown's mask falls off during it and V4's mask kind of does too.

Clown knocks the ref over on accident and V4 accidentally elbow drops the ref. V4 then back body drops Clown on the tacks. V4 goes to pin Clown but the ref is out. Clown then hits an air raid crash on V4 on the tacks and wins it.

I thought this was really good. The punching spots were really great here especially with the blood and masks falling off and it really helped this one. The finish wasn't the best ever but this was really good for lucha standards. I'd consider this a match of the year contender.

La Faccion Ingobernable (Dragon Lee & Dralistico) vs Johnny Caballero & Matt Hardy

Johnny larped as Jeff Hardy here by dressing like him and doing some of his mannerisms. Johnny goofed around a lot early here then did a nice roll over Dral's back with an armdrag. Johnny got kicked off the apron then Dral went for a dive but got lariated first by Matt. Matt then shouldered Lee over and they traded forearms.

Johnny comes in and superkicks Lee. Matt and Johnny pick up Lee then slam him backwards. Johnny then does Jeff's legdrop to the gut. Johnny then jumps off Matt's back to splash Dral in the corner. Johnny then gets tripped into a dropkick and Dral standing moonsaults him for 2. Lee and Dral then dropkick Johnny in the back.

Johnny escapes a 2v1 and hot tags in Matt. Matt bangs Lee's head off the buckles then does the same to Dral. Matt stands on the 2nd rope for a legdrop but Dral springboard hurricanrana's him. All four men fight in the ring then outside. Johnny gets sat on the rail then topes him from the ring in a great spot. Dral then dives off the top into crowd onto his opponents but the camera's miss most of it.

Dral springboard swantons Johnny inside then they trade kicks. Dral corkscrew kicks him then Matt and Lee lariat each other. Lee pump kicks Matt then Matt implant ddt's him. Matt hits a splash mountain on Lee for 2. Matt and Lee fight seated up top and Lee double foot stomps him as he hands from the top. Lee then hurricanrana's Johnny by jumping over the top and taking him from the apron to the floor. Lee then ligerbombs Matt for 2.

Johnny does his samoan drop flip to Lee then gets belly to belly suplexed into the buckles by Dral. Matt gets pushed into Johnny on the apron then Dral misses an asai moonsault on him. Matt goes for a twist of fate but Johnny low blows Matt and hits a moonlight drive (in revenge for getting knocked off the apron). Dral then hits a pedigree into his knees on Matt. Dral then moonsaults his own partner and mat laying on the mat and Matt gets pinned.

The finish sucked here with Dral moonsaulting his own partner but they tried here to have a high flying match. It was mostly just a spot fest.

Johnny beats up his opponents after and Matt hits twist of fate on him and throws him out. Matt and his opponents then shake hands after.

Overall thoughts: It was one of the better AAA shows I saw. The camera and mic work left a lot to be desired as always but the two ruleta matches delivered and the mask match did too.
