AEW Dynamite: Blood and Guts 6/29/2022

We have an unusual, off-center camera angle here as we have two rings for Blood and Guts tonight.

Orange Cassidy vs Ethan Page

OC has new theme music. Dan Lambert talks on the mic ahead of time and ays he is surprised OC is strong enough to get his jeans up. Dan says the Best Friends have to show their managers license or else they shouldn't be out here. They were then kicked out.

Page mocks OC's pocket gesture. Page walks on OC and OC counters a hiptoss with an armdrag. OC then topes him into the rails then top rope crossbodies him. Page then makes OC spin with a shoulder. Page then suplexes him. OC goes outside and Lambert does his weak kicks to him. Page uppercuts him and prances around. Page backbreakers him. OC sunset flips him but can't finish it then he is brainbustered. Page goes for razor's edge but OC gets out by putting his hands in his pockets.

Page is pushed into tbe buckles and OC trips him. Page then gorilla presses him into a powerslam. OC counters a suplex with a cutter. Lambert gets on the apron. OC teases slapping him but doesn't then takes a sip of his drink. OC then hits Page and spits juice in Lambert's eyes. OC slams Page and wins this.

I didn't think it was anything special and losing to OC doesn't help Page. 

Christian Cage is interviewed. He said he is sorry Jungle Boy's entire family isn't dead, well except for his mom and he motioned for her to call him. Cage called the fans "Motor City sweathogs". Cage said he requested a match this week but said it isn' for him. He then brought out Luchasaurus with new music and black gear.

Luchasaurus vs Serpentico

Lucha headbutts him early and wheelbarrow germans him. Lucha does some spinning tombstone variation and wins via submission in no time at all.

Lucha then chokeslammed Serpentico on the floor after.

Scorpio Sky and Wardlow do an interview. Sky said the last time Wardlow came after him, he laid him out. Tony said he got assistance during it. Wardlow says he is done talking and told him to bring every member of American Top Team and he will beat them up like security guards. He then said he will take the TNT Title from Sky and Sky challenged him to a street fight for it next week.

 

Max Caster and The Gunn Club vs Danhausen and FTR

Max accused Danhausen of being a juggalo and said he would make him drink Flint tap water. Dan said he found someone pretty good at wrestling and brought out FTR.

Austin shoulders Cash early then Cash back body drops him. Austin takes an atomic drop then Cash spanks him. Dax suplexes Austin then Dan top rope hurricanrana's Coleten. Dan hiptosses his opponents then Colten lariats him over. We go to PiP break and return. Dan release northern lights suplexes Max then takes a big Colten dropkick. Dax gets in and hits Austin and Max with punches. The Gunns are then german suplexed three times in a row.

Cash planchas Colten then Dax hits more germans on Austin. Ausin and Dax blow a neckbreaker. Bowens gets in and tries to hit Danhausen with a crutch but he ducks and Austin gets nailed instead. Dan then picks up the win.

This match really wasn't anything special or noteworthy.

FTR destroy Bowens' wheel chair after and the Acclaimed and Gunns argue. Billy pushes Austin down after.

Lethal, Singh and Dutt do a promo. Lethal asks how long it will take for Samoa Joe the defend the ROH TV Title against him. Singh says Jay is going to kill him.

TBS Title - Jade Cargill vs Leila Grey

Jade hooks her by the arm early and hits knees in her gut. Jade throws her from her shoulder then Grey rolls her up. Grey gets thrown off on her bulldog attempt and Jade hits a big pump kick. Jade then hits a double chicken wing bomb and wins it.

This was just a squash as Jade goes to 34-0.

Jade gets on the mic after. She tells Stokeley she wants real competition next time. Stokeley said Jade put up an open contract but nobody wanted to sign it then said Kris Statlander and Athena are just lazy. Kris and Athena run down into the ring and Grey pushes Athena off the top rope after Stokeley whispers something in her ear. Grey offers to shake Stokeley's hand after but Jade pushes the hand down and walks off.

They announce that they will return for Grand Slam in New York again.

The Young Bucks did a promo. They said the tag belts are their only friends. They said they heard Goto and Yoshi-Hashi wanted a tag title shot. They said they have to beat them on Rampage first. They pronounced Goto's name wrong in a lame promo.

Jim Ross comes out to do commentary for Blood and Guts.

Blood and Guts Cage Match - The Jericho Appreciation Society (Angelo Parker, Chris Jericho, Daniel Garcia, Hager, Matt Menard, & Sammy Guevara) vs. The Blackpool Combat Club (AEW Interim World Champion Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta) & Eddie Kingston, Ortiz, & Santana

Jericho's team all wore red fishnet shirts, fedoras and long pants. Ortiz painted his head whie and red. Cesaro and Sammy start us off. Sammy tries to leap over him and gets flipped over. Cesaro hits some corner moves and hits some uppercuts and chops. Sammy then takes a wild bump over the top rope onto the other rope. Sammy climbs the cage to escape and gets crotched and stuck in the ropes. Sammy then uses the ropes to get away and flips him off. Sammy then is popped up and hits a cutter on his way down.

Sammy kisses Tay through the cage then Cesaro goes to give him a giant swing but Daniel Garcia is in and stops it. Garcia is wearing a doo rag and looks silly. Cesaro euro's both opponents in the corners then takes a jumping knee from Sammy. Cesaro suplexes both guys then is beat up on the ropes and choked. Wheeler Yuta is the next man in. Yuta flying elbows Sammy then hits germans on Garcia then Sammy. Sammy then takes a euro uppercut + german. Cesaro puts a shirt around Garcia's neck and throws him, then throws him into the cage.

Hager is nxt in. He catches Yuta off the top and slams him. Cearo the gorilla presses and throws Sammy into the other ring. Cesaro and Hager stare down and go face to face. Yuta gets speared by Hager against the cage then Yuta top rope dropkicks Hager. Hager slams Cesaro then Mox comes in wit ha chair. He throws the chair at Hager then lariats Garcia and Sammy at the same time in the corner. Mox release suplexes Sammy then  pulls on Garcia's face. Yuta trips Sammy into a chair then Mox puts a fork in Garcia's head. Garcia is busted open then is held up for a hart attack move. Sammy then gets gorilla pressed into a cutter and Yuta top rope frogsplashes Sammy.

The faces all elbow flurry their opponents then Angelo Parker comes in. Parker gets cornered and rolls to the other ring. He gets caught by Cesaro and gutwrenched. Parker takes euro uppercuts from different opponents then Hager chairs Cesaro. Ortis comes in and lariats his opponents. Ortiz looks so like a mix between Archie and a Kiss member and looks totally dumb. Ortiz powerbombs Sammy and Cesaro throws Sammy into Hager. Garcia is thrown int othe cage and Mox spills out broken glass. Mox piledrivers Parker on it.

Mox sticks glass into Hager's head. Cesaro gets crotched on the top rope then Mox is thrown into the cage. Matt Menard gets in and chairs Yuta and Ortiz. Mox then gets stomped 3v1. Ortiz takes a double ddt and Mox gets suplexed near a chair. Garcia takes a chair shot from Yuta and Parker eye rakes Yuta. Santana comes in with a table and barbed wire bat then backdrops Menard and uranage's Garcia.

Parker gets hit near the camera man and tries to grab him. Someone then takes a pop-up euro from Cesaro. Mox forks Menard and shoves skewer sticks into Menard's head. Yuta and Garcia slap each other and Menard chokes Mox with the barbed wire bat. Jericho comes in with his had and a bat. Ortiz ddt's him. Sammy top rope cutters Ortiz then is german'd by Yuta. Cesaro hits an alphamare waterslide on Hager then pop-up euro's Garcia. Jericho codebreakers Cesaro.

Eddie Kingston is the last man in with a kendo stick and the match begins. He swats away opponents and has his eyes locked on Jericho. He traps Jericho in the corner and beats him with the kendo stick. He grabs rubbing alcohol but is pushed into the cage by Hager. Ortiz chairs Hager then Tay tries to give jericho rubbing alcohol. It can't really fit in the cage though and Jericho gets it sprayed on him in a funny spot. Garcia takes a doomsday device then Cesaro facekicks someone against the cage. Hager then gets powerbombed through a table.

Tacks are spilled on the mat and Cesaro pulls off the canvas and mat. Mox suplexes Menard on tacks. Somehow, someone hangs off the cage on the outside and Mox puts more tacks in Menard's back. Eddie and Cesaro superplex someone together on the exposed mat but land on it themselves. Jericho supposedly sprays Mox in the eyes with rubbing alcohol and hits a judas effect. This happens during an ad break. Jericho puts tacks in Mox's head and somehow Mox goes into the tacks. Jericho drags Mox's back in tacks and puts him in the boston crab in them. Eddie gets tacks and throws them at Jericho's face.

Eddie flurries on Jericho then Jericho grabs a fire extinguisher. He misses but Eddie walks into it. Tay takes out the ref and gets the key to the cage. Ruby Soho then gets in and Tazz calls her Ruby Riott. They fight and Jericho climbs to the top of the cage. Eddie follows. Eddie and Jericho fight on top of the cage then uraken's him. Sammy Guevarra climbs up the cage as Eddie says he wants to throw Jerich off the cage. Eddie low blows Sammy and throws Sammy off onto a crash pad. Eddie chases Jericho on the cage and they hockey fight. They trade chops then punches.  Jericho boston crabs him up there then Cesaro goes up the cage. Matt Menard then goes up top on the cage. Cesaro giant swings Jericho on top of the cage and Menard hits Cesaro from behind. Eddie has Jericho in the stretch plum and Cesaro sharpshooters Menard. Menard taps out and Eddie is wondering what hapened. Eddie is upset he didn't get to beat Jericho and Eddie holds his head in his hands.

Ortiz climbs up top the cage then Yuta does as well. Mox then heads up. They all pose and celebrate then the ref gets up there as well. Santana noticeably does not join them.

The match was good. The camera's missed some shots and while there was more blood and deathmatch stuff than last time, I didn't think it was as good as the last one. The ending wasn't that great and the bump off the cage was an obvious bump onto a crash pad. Obviously, they don't want anyone to get hurt, but it is business exposing. They did a good job making it feel like everyone hated each other. They did a good job with the blood and they pushed the Jericho/Eddie story as well as they could.

Overall thoughts: It was a one match show. The rest of the stuff wasn't that important and really didn't matter. The cage match was worth seeing and was very good, and that's really all that mattered.
