AEW Rampage 6/10/2022

Jake Hager vs Eddie Kingston

No intro for either person here. Jake short arm clotheslines him early and pounds on him. They go outside and trade chops for knees in the gut. Jake then hits a nice backdrop and puts him in the WAR special reverse full nelson. Jake then suplexes him on the floor. Jake hits some forearms to the back on him and then belly to belly's him.

Eddie comes back with slaps and knees him in the gut. Eddie hits a bunch of chops then kicks him in the side of the head. Eddie misses a kick and takes an overhead belly to belly. We go to PiP break and return.

Eddie flips off Hager after punches then Hager hits more as Eddie slaps and eye pokes him. Eddie then ddt's him and hits machine gun chops. Hager then hits a vader bomb for 2 and takes an exploder and a backdrop soon after.

Eddie misses a uraken and Hager spinebusters him. Hager hits corner punches then Eddie powerboms him. Eddie hits a couple of urakens and gets the win.

I liked this one. These two matched up real well and it was a fun Japanese style match. This was one of the better things I've seen Hager ever involved in and far surprassed my expectations.

Britt Baker, Jamie Hayter and Rebel are interviewed. Britt didn't like Toni Storm touching her belt and calls Tony a dumb@ss for questioning if that was what she was talking about. Britt said she didn't think Toni wanted to fight her or Jamie and tried to jump the line. Britt says that's not how things go here. She said she misses the women's title, but it misses her more.

Ortiz does a promo on Jericho. He said he should have seen Jericho's turn on him coming. He said Jericho likely was a jerk all these years to get to the top and he needs to be a piece of crap too to him. He said he is taking his hair in their match.

Satnam Singh and Jay Lethal vs Davey Vega and Mat Fitchett

This is Singh's AEW debut and possibly his first ever wrestling match. Singh pushes off Mat then knee lifts him. Vega and Mat double team him then Singh crossbodies both in slower motion. Lethal then comes in and hits a hits double lethal injection for the win.

This was just a quick squash and what it needed to be.

Singh's crew beats up their opponents after and Fitchett takes a spinning razor's edge from Singh.

Hookhausen is supposed to be interviewed. Danhausen drives in on a golf cart that he said he bought with his PPV win. Hook then had a bigger ATV car and left without saying anything.

 Red Velvet vs Kris Statlander

Red goes after he as she enters and gets slammed on the floor. Kris gorilla presses her and throws her on the apron. Kris running attacks Red in the corner then Red goes out and takes some shots from Kris. Red eye pokes her and jumps on her back with a sleeper. Kris walks up the steps with her on her back then throws her off inside. Kris misses a top rope crossbody badly.

Red chopblocks her and hits a short stoke on the mat on her. We go to PiP break and return to Kris hitting a backbreaker. Kris spinning blue thunder bombs her for 2. Kris hits a nice chaos theory backroll into a german then hits a ki krusher for 2. Red comes back and hits bad looking tornillo into a cutter off the 2nd buckle. Kris is on her knees and Red spin kicks her to the face. Kris comes back and hits a tombstone for the win.

They did kick out of a little too much, but this wasn't bad otherwise with some highlights to it.

Keira Hogan attacks Kris after then Jade pump kicks Kris. Anna Jay comes down to try and make the save but fails. Athena then comes down and gets stopped by the refs before she can make it.

We get a quick clip package of Miro who says he is back and flawless.

Page, Sky and Lambert are interviewed. Page isn't impressed with Miro. Page says he looks up to himself and believes and prays to himself. He says he will beat Miro next week in the All-Atlantic Title tournament. He says Miro will pray to him.

FTR, Trent Beretta, Will Osperay and Aussie Open do a split screen interview. Will is asked why he is there and he says it is AEW and it's the forbidden door. Will says they are there to seperate the sheep from the goats. Trent says he never expected to see him here and never liked him. Cash says they are the best tag team on the planet. Dax says they fight for their check here and says he will make him pay for taking money out of his account but messing up their match.

FTR and Trent Beretta vs Will Osperay and Aussie Open

Cash shoulders Will and he kips back up Will and Cash mess up a hurricanrana. Mark Davis gets in, hits some forearms on Cash and throws him. Trent tornado ddt's Will then Aussie Open is lariated over the top. Trent then asai moonsaults Will.

We go to PiP break and return to Will taking a back body drop from Trent. Davis sentons Trent and knocks Cash off the apron. Fletcher misses a corner dropkick then Daxe gets the tag in and hits punches on Aussie Open and Will. Dax suplexes Davis onto Fletcher then hits some corner strikes. Will interrupts and takes a short arm clothesline then Fletcher takes 3 german from Dax.

Cash powerbombs Fletcher into a Dax german. Aussie Open hits a double team cutter and Will hits a 450 on Cash for 2. Os hits an Os Cutter on Cash for 2. Cash hurricanrana's Davis then Trent gets in. Trent backdrops Fletcher and hits a big lariat on him. Will plancha's both FTR members. Trent then hits a samurai driver on Fletcher and wins it.

Will and Aussie Open losing on their debut to Trent and FTR was just stupid. There's no explanation for it. It's freaking Trent Beretta. He's not worth anything. Will and Aussie Open are supposed to be part of Forbidden Door and the very first time people get to see them, they will think they are losers. Meanwhile, we will probably never see this FTR and Trent pairing again. The match wasn't anything special, but the booking really hurt it.

Overall thoughts: It was on its way to being a decent episode, then they had to have Will and Aussie Open lose in their debuts.
