WWE NXT UK 5/12/2022

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2022/05/wwe-nxt-uk-552022.html

This is NXT UK's 200th episode.

#1 Contenders to the NXT Tag Titles - Oliver Carter and Ashton Smith vs Gallus

Carter gets his arm worked over to start. Gallus lifts him up by each arm and chops him. Carter headscissors Mark then runs up him and flips. Mark then gets his arm worked on. Mark hits a nice euro on Carter then Smith saves Carter from a double suplex. Carter and Smith then dropkick both guys out.

Smith gets a belly to belly usplex from Joe then gets splashed. Joe tweaks his knee on a leapfrog then Smith bowls him over with a shoulder. Smith works Joe's leg then does a nice back body drop on Carter which ends in a 450 on Joe. Carter and Smith go for the silly string into a splash but Joe gets his knees up.

Joe backdrops Carter then Mark gets the hot tag in. He bulldogs Carter from the 2nd rope. He pushes Carter's leg down, but Carter flips and turns it into a koppo kick. Carter takes a high/low then dives on Mark outside. Joe misses a double jump reverse tope then Smith clips him. Carter then flips off of Smith's knees and wins it.

It was fine. Nothing too great here or anything but nothing bad. It was pretty obvious Smith and Carter were winning this and it seems highly likely they are winning the tag titles. I expected more drama and trouble between Gallus who are having issues getting along.

Mark pleads his case to Joe after in explaining why they lost and Joe is almost crying.

Dragunov is jump roping in the back.

A-Kid left Sid Scala's office. He says he wants a rematch against Charlie Dempsey under special rules. He says they will fight under Heritage Cup rules.

We see a video of the history of NXT UK and their wrestlers.

Emilia McKenzie puts over Meiko winning last week then Lash Legend interrupts. Emilia says all Lash does is talk and hasn't fought yet. Lash says she doesn't want none of this and says she has no time for this.

Nina Samuels vs Ivy Nile

Ivy headlock takeovers her then Nina does the same. Ivy headscissors her and does push ups while she does it. Nina then gets her hair and pulls her down backwards over the top rope. Nina then mocks her with pushups. Ivy hits some kicks then enzugiri's her. Ivy then fallaway slams her and kips up. Ivy superman punches her then does a flying kick for 2.

Ivy takes a shotei and Nina is cocky about it. Ivy then diamond dusts her from there and wins with the dragon sleeper.

Nina played her role well here and did a good job working her character in this, while Ivy was fine like usual.

Damon Kemp does his first promo. He says he didn't come to England to meet the queen or drink the tea. He said he came to learn the British style. He says Sha Samuels has another thing coming if he thinks he can attack him. He says Damon Kemp is more dangerous than he has ever been.

We get some Godfather music and grainy video as Jack Starz and Dave Mastiff talk in a warehouse. They make a call and talk to a picture of Charlie Dempsey on a mop. They talk on the phone to someone. Jack is asked what he has in store for Die Familie. Jack says he will make them kiss his ring. Dave then asks the mop with Dempsey's face on it to tell a story and they mock Die Familie. They ask what the eye sees, which is a Die Familie line. You won't really get this unless you see Die Familie segments as they took the Familie part literally and acted like a mafia family here.

Joe Coffey is interviewed. He said he just wasn't good enough and needs to be a better big brother. He said he needs to take some time away.

Wild Boar does a vignette/promo on Eddie Dennis. He says he is coming for his revenge. We see a lot of clips of their history and clips of the dog collar match being made between the two.

Kenny Williams is watching Tiger Turan on a TV. He says he is the masked bozo and is the one who has been leaving notes for him all this time (which I thought was Sam Gradwell). He acts deranged. He said Turan has made the biggest mistake of his life.

WWE NXT UK Title - Loser Leaves NXT UK - Ilja Dragunov vs Jordan Devlin

Drag has a newer fast paced theme these days replacing the older Soviet style theme.

Drag does a nice armdrag early then a nice mma style slam. They both grab each other by the hair and trade forearms. Drag gets his eyes raked then gets brainbustered on the top rope buckle. He then falls to the floor. Dev hits some kicks to the back then backdrops him. He works the neck some. Dev legdrops him and they trade forearms. Drag does a tiger feint through the ropes then walks into a standing spanish fly.

Drag spinning chops him a few times and Drag tries to fight off a single leg boston crab. Dev kicks his neck as he tries to get it on. Drag does a cool move when he flips Dev off a boston crab attempt then Drag hits an elbow flurry on Dev. Drag hits some lariats then does a tiger feint into a lariat. Drag germans him then enzugiri's him. He then hits another german and Drag captures him around the leg and germans him.

Drag gets crotched on the top rope then lariated to the floor. Dev then asai moonsaults him outside then slingshots inside into a neckbreaker on Drag. Drag superplexes him from the 2nd rope then does a falling forearm on him.

Drag charges at him and goes face first into the buckles. Drag then gets pulled up into a saito suplex. Drag has his foot on the ropes but the ref counts the pin anyway. Johnny Saint comes out and tells the ref to restart the match. Dev tries to pull him up again but takes a headbutt. Dev then runs at him and hits a canadian destroyer. He then brainbusters him for 2.

Dev misses a 450 then Drag battering rams him in the back. Drag hits a bunch of strikes, then takes two headbutts. Drag then germans him and does another flying headbutt/battering ram to win it.

This wasn't a classic and wasn't as good as their last match. There wasn't anything too wrong with it, but it could have been better. I didn't like the canadian destroyer kickout but I could maybe look past it some since it was part of the finishing stretch.

Overall thoughts: It was a decent to good episode of NXT UK. There wasn't anything wrong with it, though the main and the opener could have been stronger matches. Both were decent though.
