Big Japan Pro Wrestling 4/17/2022 New Standard Big "B" ~ All Time Super Best~

Big Japan Pro Wrestling 4/17/2022 New Standard Big "B" ~ All Time Super Best~

I saw 4 of the 6 matches here.

Daichi Hashimoto & Kazumasa Yoshida vs. Astronauts (Fuminori Abe & Takuya Nomura)

Yoshida hits some clubs on Nomura then gets kicked in the back. Abe then gets shouldered over by Yoshida and Hash comes in. Hash snapmares Abe and they stand off and both tag out.

Nomura drops Yoshida with a kick then does it again with a euro uppercut and a kick. Astronauts then double kick Yoshida for 2. Nomura kick flurries Yoshida in the corner then suplexes him. Abe gets in and takes a slam and a dropkick from Yoshida.

Hash gets in and kicks Abe then step up knees him in the corner. They trade forearms and smack each other in the head then Abe is uranage'd off a baseball punch. Abe then dragon screws him then Nomura forearm flurries Hash. Hash oddly has enough and tags out.

Yoshida back elbows Nomura then hits a big dropkick for 2. Yoshida then suplexes him then Nomura gives him a dropkick back. Yoshida gets sandwich kicked for 2. Nomura then taps Yoshida with a boston crab for the win as Hash walks off.

Odd ending here with Yoshida losing via crab then walking out on him. Yoshida's super limited but Abe and Hash had some real chemistry here. It maybe could have been something without Yoshida and with a better ending.

Fluorescent Lighttubes Death Match - Abdullah Kobayashi, Jaki Numazawa & Ryuji Ito vs. Drew Parker & GSHOCK1010 (Akira Hyodo & Kankuro Hoshino)

We have tubes on the ropes, concrete blocks, chairs and a kendo stick amongst other toys.

Everyone fights as soon as intros finish. Hyodo and Ito trade forearms and avoid going into the tubes. Hyodo hits a decent dropkick on him. Abby and Hoshino battle shoulders then Abby lariats him. Abby then goes into the tubes on the ropes. Hyodo and Hoshino hit elbow drops on Abby.

Drew headbutts tubes into Abby's head, which is a spot I never really understood. Hyodo then puts tubes in Abby's shirt and sentons him. Hyodo and Abby trade headbutts then Ito is tagged in. He hits some kicks and hurricanrana's Hyodo off the top for 2. Hyodo comes back with a samoan drop then Hoshino gets in. Ito puts chairs on Hoshino the nchairs them to no effect. Ito and Hoshi trade chest slaps then Hoshino lariats him.

Jaki and Drew get in. They trade forearms and Jaki suplexes him. Jaki misses a corner charge then gets a hip attack in the corner. Drew then is thrown into a light tube cross and lariated. Drew takes moves from all three opponents and Jaki hits an air rade crash for 2. Abby throws tubes at Hoshino and punches him. Hyodo spears Abby then gets hit with a chair from Ito. Drew then swantons Jaki for 2 from the top. Drew then v-triggers Jaki with tubes to win it.

It wasn't anything too special. Not great or anything but there have been worse efforts. Jaki's pretty much done at this point as he can't much much at all and there wasn't a lot to this except for weapons shots.

Abby and Hyodo fight outside after.

Daisuke Sekimoto, Kosuke Sato & Shigehiro Irie vs. Kota Sekifuda, Yasufumi Nakanoue & Yuji Okabayashi

Sek and Oka go at it to start but don't do anything. Sato hits a dropkick on Kota then kicks him in the back. Irie gets in and does his rebound splash off the ropes on Kota then Sek puts Kota between the buckles and rams him. Sato hits some shots on Kota and drops him then Kota hiptosses him into a splash.

Sato tries some forearms on Oka but gets chopped down. Sato then takes a vader bomb from Nakanoue for 2. Sato hits some dropkicks on him then slams him. Irie and Nakanoue trade forearms then run the ropes and trade forearms. Nakanoue then flying clotheslines him and tags out. Oka gets in and takes headbutts to the shoulder then Irie drops him with a forearm. He then cannonballs him against the ropes.

Sek gets in and running lariats Oka in the corner then cutters him. Oka racks him and they trade forearms. Oka suplexes Sek and they collide on a lariat. Sek then flatliners him and hits a nice german that is no sold. Oka then lariats him. Sato and Kota then get in and Sato corner dropkicks him then does a regular dropkick. Sato gets put on the 2nd rope then Kota backcrackers him from it. Kota puts him in a cobra clutch then turns it into a groundedd cobra clutch, but Irie breaks it up with a cannonball.

Sek and Oka go at it then Sek misses a corner spear and goes out of the ring. Kota then backcrackers Sato and misses a frog splash. Sato PK's him then hits a ki krusher for 2. Sato then ddt's him in a grounded guillotine and taps him out.

Not a classic, but a fun little trios match. They didn't get as much time as they needed here and we barely saw Nakanoue.

BJW Death Match Heavyweight Title Go Go Death Match - Yuko Miyamoto (c) vs. Hideyoshi Kamitani

We have boards with things on them in each corner along with tubes and chairs. There's only one camera, so we can't actually see what all the boards have on them.

The two shoulderblock challenge each other then Yuko is slammed on some kind of mat with colored squares on it. No idea what it is. Kami then is thrown into a board with tubes on it and yuko stabs him with some of the tube pieces. Kami is busted open and bleeding then Yuko wraps some barbed wire around his head. Yuko then drags him around by the barbed wire.

Kami then comes back with a slam onto a barbed wire board then puts the wire into Yuko's head. Kami hits some headbutts then running shoulders him in the back. He then elbow drops him with a chiar on him. Yuko then comes back with a dropkick then a leg kick and slap combo.

Yuko sticks some barbed wire into Kami's shirt then presses it in with his foot. Kami has to take off shirt to get rid of it and then stacks chairs and part of a board on Yuko. Kami then hits his top rope elbow drop on him. Kami grabs a stack of tubes then runs straight into Yuko for a 2 count.

Yuko gets thrown into the ropes and does a handspring into a backflip kick. A board with tacks is bridged over chairs then Yuko powerbombs him through it, but it doesn't actually break. Yuko then suplexes him on it and puts the board over him for a top rope moonsault.

Yuko gets picked up and lariats him then the two try pin attempts. Kami charges into Yuko but runs straight into a board. He then gets german suplexed and meteora'd. Yuko then sit out drivers him on a stack of tubes for the win.

This was actually decent and one of the better deathmatches BJW has done lately. They didn't overdo it and they actually tried to make it a big of a match than just a collection of weapons spots. It would have been a lot better if the crowd was allowed to cheer though.

Overall thoughts: Would have been better with a cheering crowd but it wasn't bad. The two top matches delivered and that helped this one out.
