Ice Ribbon 5/21/2022 - Ice Ribbon #1202
They have some outsiders today to fill up the show with all the retirements and injuries. Things have gotten worse as Banny Oikawa is taking a break as well at a time when this promotion can't afford it.
Saran and Chie Ozora (Pure-J) vs Kiku and Himiko (Diana)
Saran uses the ropes to flip out of a Kiku wristlock. Saran then rolls and kips up out of a wristlock. Kiku snapmares her and hits kick to the front and back for 2.
Chie gets in and walks the top rope with Himiko's arm and armdrags her. Kiku tries some pinfalls on Chie then Kiku dropkicks her. Himiko and Saran go at it with Himiko pushing her dropkicks aside. Himiko dropkicks her in the corner then elbow drops her for 2.
Chie armbars Himiko over the top rope. Himiko dropkicks her then Kiku geta a kick flurry to Chie's back followed by a PK for 2. Chie hits some flying shoulders on Kiku and fujiwara armbars her and Kiku ropebreaks. Chie and Kiku trade forearms then the two botch something.
Saran gets in and double foot stomps Kiku. The two exchange forearms. Chie lifts Saran up for a dropkick then 2nd rope dropkicks Kiku for 2. Kiku then does a bad ddt with her leg hooked around Sarana's arm to win.
This wasn't any good. Kiku is just too akward and there were multiple parts here where the wrestlers were lost.
Saran took a shot at Kiku after and they had to be broken up.
Ibuki Hoshi and Kaho Matsushita vs Yuko Sakurai and Yuuki Mashiro
Yuko's team is jumped at the bell then Yuko and Yuuki take corner moves. Yuko gets double shoulderblocked then Kaho basement dropkicks her. Yuko splashes her. Yuuki and Ibuki go at it with Yuuki standing on her throat in the corner. Kaho gets in and dropkicks Yuuki and crabs her. Yuuki ropebreaks.
Yuko and Yuuki are tied up in the ropes and kicked in the back. Yuuki and Kaho blow a spot as Ibuki and Yuko do bad fighting over an abdominal stretch. Kaho flurry forearms Yuuki. Yuko gets in and hit some shoulders on Kaho. Yuko and Yuuki do running corner attacks to Kaho the Yuko splashes her for 2.
Kaho sideslams Yuko then suplexes her. Ibuki hits some crossbodies on Yuko for 2. The two trade chops for forearms with both flurrying each other. Yuko then slams her and cobra twists her. Ibuki does Tsukka's octopus stretch on Yuko but Yuko ropebreaks. Ibuki then lightning spirals her for 2.
Kaho step up enzugiri's Yuko then Ibuki top rop crossbodies Yuko for 2. Yuko elbow slices Ibuki at 10 minutes then Ibuki hits some superkicks on Yuko for 2. Yuko suplexes Ibuki for a close 2. Ibuki then slides through Yuko's legs and rolls her up for the win.
This wasn't anything special and had some rough moments to it. Ibuki was far better than anyone else in this one.
Rina Animkura vs Nao Ishikawa
They shoulder battle early and Rina wins that battle. Rina bronco busters her in the corner then slams her and hits a falling splash. Rina goes for another, gets blocked but hits a 2nd one. Nao then hits a falling splash for 2. Nao then clotheslines her and crossbodies her.
They trade forearms and chops. Nao then shoulders her and cartwheel splashes her for 2. Rina butt drops her on her chest then puts her in reverse tree of woe. Rina then splashes her and then sentons her for 2. Rina misses a 2nd rope senton and gets rolled up then Nao hits another roll-up.
Nao botches a sunset flip then botches a cartwheel headscissors. Nao backdrops her for 2 then crossbodies her for another 2. Rina hits a powerslam then spinning chops her. She flip sentons her for another 2. Rina then hits a 2nd rope senton for another 2. Rina side suplexes her and wins it.
The ending portion of this was okay with the nearfalls but they had a real slow pace to this that brought it down and I don't know if I get the logic between two partners fighting here.
AKARI (Pure-J) and Yappy vs Banny Oikawa and Crea (Pure-J)
Akari does some nice rolls early and hits some armdrags. Crea headscissors her than they do a stand off and tag out. Banny crossbodies Yappy and is caught with a backbreaker. Banny is then put on the 2nd rope and takes a hard Yappy chop to the stomach, then she is splashed. Yappy then butt drops her for 2.
Yappy spins her from the guillotine position and drops her. Yappy has Banny in the dragon sleeper position and Banny flips over onto her. Yappy is then tied up in the ropes and kicked by Banny. Crea facekicks Yappy then facewashes her through the ropes.
Yappy makes her comeback crossbodying both opponents then her and Akari double elbow Crea. Yappy hanging chokes Crea in the corner then Yappy does a nice hip attack for 2. Crea then double chops Yappy and Yappy does some weird move where she drops a leg over her. Yappy then bronco busters Crea on the bottom rope and legdrops her.
Akari 2nd rope dropkicks Crea and Crea hits some kicks. Akari comes back with kicks including a pump kick for 2. Akari then suplexes her for 2. Crea reverse brazilian kicks Akari for 2 then armbars her but Akari ropebreaks. Banny does a weird takedown of Akari with her leg on Akari's arm and turns it into an armbar.
Banny then running PK's Akari for 2. Banny and Akari trade strikes and Banny dropkicks Akari for 2. Banny spinning heel kicks Akari in the gut for 2 then Akari comes back with an armbar on her. She turns it into a crossface and Crea breaks it up.
Yappy butt drops Banny's back and holds her for a baseball slide from Akari. Akari then does a nice pinning clutch for 2. They trade pin attempts and Banny straight jacket ddt's her for 2. Banny does a head and hammerlock suplex for 2 then Akari lariats her for 2. Akari then death valley drivers Banny for the win.
Decent main event. It had a fast pace to it and the Ice girls didn't look too out of place against the Pure-J girls. Easily the best thing on this show without question and I'd like to see the Pure-J girls back.
Overall thoughts: Not a good one outside of the main. It's going to be some hard times with all of departures in Ice.
