Marvelous 5/1/2022 6th Anniversary

This is the first time I've done a Marvelous show. I have some, but just never got around to them.

Shigehiro Irie & Shoki Kitamura defeat Junya Matsunaga & Leo Isaka

Shoki and Leo charge at each other then Leo sliding dropkicks him in the back.Irie gets in and puts Leo on the apron then crossbodies his back. Irie then does his back bounce off the ropes into a splash for 2. Leo gets facewashed by Shoki.

Leo hits a nice dropkick on Shoki. Junya gets in and flying forearms Shoki then hits a spinning uranage for 2. Shoki then leg sweeps him and tags out. Junya tornado ddt's Irie. Leo gets in and top rope dropkicks Irie then flying forearms him. Leo then brainbusters him and knees him for 2.

Irie black hole slams him then Shoki hits a triangle enzugiri on Leo. Irie corner cannonballs Leo for 2. Leo comes back with a hurricanrana on Irie then is flipped with a lariat for 2. Leo messes up a counter and canadian destroyers him. They go up top where Irie hits a samoan drop from the 2nd rope for another 2. Irie then flips him with a lariat and wins it.

They did too much here and it got messy towards the end with them rushing too fast.

Ancham, Chikayo Nagashima and Makoto vs Ai Houzan, Miyako Matsumoto and Yurika Oka

Ancham gets 3v1'd to start and takes corner moves. Her opponents then tie her up in the corner and pose on her.  Ancham butt drops on Ai then Makoto headlocks her. Ai hits a nice dropkick on Chikayo then Miyako takes an over the top rope triangle from Chikayo. Chikayo facekicks her for 2 and rubs her face with a toilet brush.

Ancham tries pin attempts on Miyako and gets stuck in the ropes after a missed hip attack. Miyako spears her then shining wizards her for 2. Oka gets in and hits a bunch of dropkicks on Ancham then bulldogs her. Oka gets flipped off the top by Ancham. Ancham barely high kicks her then perfectplexes her for 2.

Miyako's steam all stomps on Makoto then do a silly stretching pose before getting knocked over. Oka does a nice headscissors on Makoto then gets facekicked for 2. Ai comes back in and hits Makoto with many dropkicks then takes a face kick and a double knee drop.

Makoto double underhook suplexes Ai then Chikayo face kicks Ai. Ai comes back with screaming and dropkicks then Ai and Oka double dropkick Chikayo. Ai top rope dropkicks Chikayo for 2.  and is pulled off the top by Makoto.  Chikayo misses a top rope footstomp on Ai then gets facekicked on accident by Makoto. Chikayo facekicks Ai for 2 then fisherman busters her for the win.

They kept a fast pace here and it was simple. There were a ton of dropkicks and armdrags. It wan a little longer than it needed to and wasn't anything special.

Maria vs Riko Kawahata

We have a 10 minute time limit for this. Riko does a dance number and Maria gives out balls.

They take a while to shake hands and Maria pulls her in and they gesture at each other. Maria face washes her between the ropes then kind of axe kicks her. She then dragon screws her. Maria then does a running knee and facebusters her. She then does an STF variation and bangs her head off the mat.

Riko comes back with a sliding dropkick. They each try pinfalls on each other then Maria christo's her at 5 minutes. Maria hits some face kicks and takes a superkick back. Riko then kicks her around and northern lights suplexes her for 2. Riko puts her leg around her then rolls into an armbar but Maria hits the ropes.

Maria then rolls her into an armbar then ankle locks her. Maria then figure fours her. Riko comes back wit hhigh kicks then is facekicked. Riko slaps her and gets another facekick then is half nelson suplexed but comes right back with a german. We have a minute left and Riko is trying to pin her but keeps taking face kicks. Riko misses a moonsault from the top hten is rolled up for 2. Riko then gets german suplexed as the itme limit expires.

Maybe with more time it would have been better. Maria's offense didn't really go anywhere and I'm not sure if Riko really got enough in here. 

AAAW Title - Takumi Iroha (c) vs Yuu

Iroha gets a guitar solo for her entrance. Not too much happens early. They shoulder battle with neither budging much until Yuu makes her fly from the side. Yuu slams her then Iroha gets in a shoulder block and a kick, then is thrown on the pin attempt. Iroha back kicks her then Yuu ducks her kicks before hitting a side slam. Iroha rolls out over that and tries to get on the apron but is knocked off. Iroha does weird thing where she rolls under the bottom rope onto Iroha who was standing.

Back in and Iroha kick flurries here, leg sweeps her then baseball slides her. Iroha then suplexes her for 2. Iroha sleepers her and Yuu ropebreaks.

Iroha toys around with kicks on Yuu in the corner then corner dropkicks her. Iroha hits some chest kicks then trades forearms for chops with Yuu. Yuu crossbodies her then Iroha comes back with a 2nd rope brainbuster. Iroha then frogsplashes her for 2.

Iroha high kicks her from behind and charges at her in the corner, but Yuu crossbodies her form the bottom rope. Yuu then cannonballs her in the corner. Iroha high kicks her again but is popped-up and dropped down for 2. Yuu then vader bombs her for 2.

Yuu second rope splashes her for 2. Yuu sentons her back then takes a spinning heel kick. Iroha drops her with a stiff forearm then hits some kicks to the head and face for 2. Iroha hits more high kicks for 2. Iroha then hits a running razor's edge for the win.

I wasn't too into this. Iroha toyed around with her a lot. Yuu didn't get to dominate much early, so there was no real big comeback and it was just not as good as it could have been.

AAAW Tag Titles - Itsuki Aoki and Rin Kadokura vs Kaoru Ito and Tomoko Watanabe

Ito and Tomoko are jumped at the start and Tomoko takes a 2v1. Rin goes for a suplex, but Tomoko reverses with one of her own then slams her. Tomoko crabs her then Ito comes in and stomps her fingers. Ito then crabs Rin and Aoki tries to pull her off but can't.

Ito stands on Rin then half crabs her. Ito and Aoki trade forearms and Aoki loses that battle. Aoki then is shouldered over and gets double stomped then senton'd. Tomoko gets in and Rin/Aoki try to double team her but she does a springboard twisting crossbody off the 2nd rope, then is tripped into a basement dropkick. Tomoko then runs into an STO from Aoki.

Tomoko gets beat up more then Aoki 2nd rope splashes her. Rin then 2nd rope foot stomps her for 2. Tomoko drops down from a dragon suplex then Ito lariats Rin. Ito and Tomoko accidentally lariat each other then Tomoko gets a german suplex. Tomoko then takes a dragon suplex and a northern lights suplex for 2. Rin accidentally superkicks her partner then takes a Tomoko lariat for 2.

Ito hits a big lariat on Rin for 2. Ito then powerbombs Rin and exploders Aoki. Ito then dropkicks both opponents (who are on the outside) through the ropes. Ito then ligerbombs Rin for 2. Ito botches a powerbomb move then picks Rin up again for a double team powerobmb move. Ito hits a nice double foot stomp off the 2nd rope on Rin for 2 then Tomoko 2nd rope splashes Rin.

Ito gets stuck up top and Rin hurricanrana's her down. Rin then hits some ddt variation where her legs go up in the air on Ito. Tomoko misses a lariat and nails Ito. Rin gets put on Ito's shoulder in a weird spot then Tomoko is rammed into Ito. Rin then crucifix drivers Ito to win it.

I felt like the vets should have controlled this more and the faces should have gotten a big comeback then took it home. This went for a few minutes longer than it needed to and there was some sloppiness during the end. It was one of the better efforts I've seen Aoki have though and Ito didn't do bad despite being older and heavier.

Overall thoughts: Not a great show. Nothing was outright bad, but things could have been better. There wasn't anything that really stood out here.
