WWE NXT Spring Breakin' 5/3/2022

WWE NXT Spring Breakin' 5/3/2022

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2022/04/wwe-nxt-4262022.html

Since last week's NXT, a bunch of people have been fired. Draco Anthony, Dakota Kai, Malcolm Bivens, Persia Pirotta, Dexter Lumis and Harland are no longer with WWE. There's been multiple storylines messed up with it. I'm against the firings except for Dakota Kai, who I just didn't think was any good. Lumis was main roster ready. Bivens was doing well. Pirotta was okay with the storyline she was in and Harland/Draco only had a handful of short matches being fired. I think with trainees, they deserve a minimum of 2 years and need about 100+ matches each year before deciding if they are worth keeping.

Pretty Deadly opened the show by a pool. They said there's no better way to open the show than with them. They used their title belts to help tan. They then jumped in the pool.

WWE NXT North American Title - Cameron Grimes (c) vs Carmelo Hayes vs Solo Sikoa

Hayes takes shots from both early and a big back body drop. Grimes tries some pin attempts on Solo and Hayes is knocked off the apron. Grimes hiptossed Hayes into a hurricanrana on Solo. Hayes springboard clotheslines Solo then Hayes hit his springboard into a legdrop on the hanging Grimes. Grimes top rope crossbodies Solo.

Grimes hurricanrana'd Solo then got hiptossed into the buckles by him. Grimes hit a spanish fly counter on a Hayes crossbody. We went to PiP break. Grimes hit a bunch of leg kicks on Solo and Hayes high kicked Solo. Solo headbutted Hayes but Hayes got his knees up on a senton.

Solo superkicked Grimes into a Hayes code red. We had a tower of doom spot with Grimes getting powerbombed while superplexing Hayes. Grimes high kicked Solo then took a pump knee from Hayes. Hayes and Grimes were both in the corner then Solo butt rammed they both. Hayes got powerbombed on Grimes then took a big uranage from Solo for 2.

Grimes double hurricanrana'd both opponents then poisonrana'd Hayes. Grimes went for an M-Bison stomp but Grimes countered with a jumping codebreaker. Hayes came off the top and took a Solo superkick. Solo then frogsplashed Grimes but Hayes broke it up. The fans chanted "that was 3". Hayes was on Solo's shoulders then Grimes hit a top rope M. Bison stomp on them and pinned Solo to win it.

It was a three way and a spotfest as it pretty much has to be. Solo and Hayes looked good here and it was fine, just not a classic or anything.

We saw clips from earlier of Mandy going to a tanning booth. Wendy Choo snuck in and put the timer on longer and Mandy got burnt. Toxic Attraction came out and said she looked like a strawberry then Mandy screamed in the mirror.

Nathan Frazer was interviewed. He said Mandy did look like a strawberry. Nathan said was freaking out and had been waiting for this moment his entire life. This was not a good promo.

Roderick Strong talked to The Creeds. He said the Viking Raiders were their toughest challenge yet and didn't think they were taking it serious enough. Strong said he was the leader and said what he says goes around here. They did not look pleased.

Indi Hartwell and Duke Hudson talked in the back. They teased kissing then snapped out of it. Indi said "oh hell no" and Duke said "you wish".

Grayson Waller vs Nathan Frazer

Someone from The Challenge was in attendance and shook hands with Grayson. Nathan shrugged his shoulders at the guy from The Challenge.

GW posed early and NF dragged him out of the lock-up from the 2nd rope. NF dropkicked him. GW hiptossed him and the NF did a headlock takeover. NF 2nd rope dropkicked him. GW went out to the entrance and sat in a lawn chair then NF chased him. Gw pounded on him in the ring and we saw Andre Chase and Bodhi in the crowd.

NF went for a springboard but GW stopped him and he hit his throat off the top rope. GW then did a nice slide to the outside with a lariat. GW then ripped a beach ball up. We went to PiP break where GW hit a big face kick on him. GW did a nice job on some punch sells then GW walked the 2nd rope to elbow drop NF.

We returned to NF doing a headflip into an enzugiri. NF then took a leg lariat and a fireman's carry reverse sitout bomb. NF lariated GW over the top then GW did a nice sell on his tope. GW went for his roll into a cutter but took a superkick. NF missed a corkscrew 450 then took an unusual flip into an unprettier.

NF got dropkicked as he sat on the top the NF took a hard fall on the top rope. GW stood on the top and Chase used a airhorn and knocked him off. NF then hit a phoenix splash for the win.

The finish was kind of silly but these two matched up really well together and NF looked good in his debut. Not as good as he does on NXT UK, but the crowd liked him and was really into it. It didn't have much story and was pure action but it was fast paced and they did some cool stuff.

NF hugged Chase-U after.

Fallon Henley got a video. She talked about her horse and said she will show her horse a contract for a championship match.

Legado del Fantasma arrived as did Tony D'Angelo's crew.

Bron was warming up and looks black with a tan.

LdF and Tony's crew meet up at a restaurant. Tony was late and called Wilde "Jaclyn". tony said AJ Gallante is his consigliere. Tony said both are powerful men and got off on the wrong foot. He said he is willing to look past Santos' disrespect and said they settle things like businessmen. Santos says everyone on the street knows they can trust him but not Tony. Santos' talked about the things Tony did and said he was playing games. Tony said there was enough business and pie for both groups. Santos said maybe they can share business somehow and offered Tony to sit back and follow his lead. Tony asked him if he was crazy and got mad. Santos asked for a truce and they both apologized. He said peace is what's best for Santos' business and Santos said the same back to him. They offered to make a toast and Tony was given a drink. He said he'd see him around. Santos told Toro Del Cruz to start the car. I thought the drink might have been spiked, but who knows.

The Viking Raiders were interviewed. They said the Creed's had never been in the battles they have. They said their training was useless and saidthe raid is here. Pretty Deadly then walked in. They said they can't wait for them to smash The Creed's. They said the VR's are facing damaged goods. The Raiders said if they interrupt them again, they will show who is damaged goods. They said they would be happy to change their focus to them but they said no thank you.

Joe Gacy did a promo. He said don't be afraid of change and said we will have a new beginning tonight. He said we should fear what happens if he doesn't win the NXT title. He said he will change the world tonight.

Nikkita Lyons and Cora Jade vs Lash Legend and Natalya

Lash threw Cora by the hair and Cora walked up the ropes and hurricanrana'd her. Cora went for a corner move but was caught and put in the corner. Cora tried some pins on Natalya. Nat took a double snapmare then a kick from Lyons. Lyons rolled and then kipped up out of a wristlock and Nat did the same. Lash and Lyons traded forearms then Lyons was suplexed before Lash kipped up. Lash lariated her over the top and both went over as we went to PiP break.

Lash tried some fireman's carry move but Lyons did a sloppy escape on it. Cora then took stomps from both opponents in the corner. Cora took a backbreaker from Nat then took a splash from Lash. Cora got beat up more and Lyons got the hot tag in. Lyons hit Nat with kicks then did a running blockbuster for 2. Lash dropkicked and ground and pounded Lyons then took a facekick from her own partner.

Lyons german suplexed Lash and did a jumping split on her. Cora did a top rope senton on Lash for the win.

It went on too long and the stuff after the hot tag wasn't needed. It wasn't too bad or anything but wasn't anything too special. Lash's offense near the end hurt some of the flow of this.

Tatum Paxley got a video. We saw her doing powerlifting. She said she would be the winner of the breakout tournament and did a backflip into some push-up's.

Toxic Attraction blamed Wendy Choo for the issue with Mandy's tan. Wendy and Roxanne Perez were spying on Gigi and Jacy at the beach. They took their car keys and sandals. They then mocked them and ran for it. Wendy and Perez then took their car but left the shoes and car for them to get.

The Viking Raiders vs The Creed Brothers

Ivar ran over Julius to start then hit a big lariat on him. Brutus took a big flying double knee in the corner then got cannonballed. Julius was popped up into a slam for 2. Brutus got in and hit some offense then did hammerfist shots on Erik. Brutus hit karelin's lift on Erik. Brutus was suplexed onto Erik then Brutus did a nice shoulder throw on his partner on Erik which was blocked. Brutus was backdropped over the top then Ivar splashed Brutus off the apron to the floor.

We went to PiP break and the VR's pounded on Brutus. Erik and Brutus traded forearms. Brutus hit a nice side suplex on Erik to tag out. Julius hit a nice dropkick on Erick then did a nice exploder into a slam on Erik. Erik was flipped up into a razor's edge then Ivar was thrown over the top. Erik did a bad full nelson into a knee on the back of the head and Julius was slammed on the floor. Ivar tiger drivered Brutus then powerbombed Erik on him for 2. Ivar then 2nd rope splashed him for 2.

Ivar sit down butt bombed Julius in the corner. Ivar went up top and Julius jumped up to superplex him. Ivar hit a nice spinning high kick on Julius. Julius took a back drop + top rope legdrop combo. Julius took down Erik then Strong took a cheap shot on Erik. Julius then hit his diving clothesline on Erik to win.

The Creed's argued with Strong about him cheating to help them win after. .

It was a good heavyweight battle. The Raiders looked good and the Creed's held up their end just fine. Some real nice offense by the Raiders here and Julius is a real stud. It's such a shame teams like Heavy Machinery and AOP aren't around any more because these guys would look great against them.

AJ Gallante said bye to his crew then Santos Escobar wanted a word in the parking lot. Santos  said it would be hard for Tony if he lost AJ's wisdom. Santos then hit AJ in the nuts and they kdinapped him in a car.

Alba Fyre got a quick video with her playing with fire in the parking lot. She returns next week.

Briggs and Jensen were in the back seeing the doc. Jensen's wrist was injured and was asked why his right hand was stronger than his left. He said he would put him in a cast and it would be 6-8 weeks for recovery.

Roxanne Perez and Wendy Choo vs Gigi and Jacy was announced for next week.

WWE NXT Title - Bron Breakker (c) vs Joe Gacy

The video was put on a black and white filter for Joe's entrance. Bron flipped a switch for his entrance to start the sirens which was dumb.

They go outside to start then go back in. Bron took him down. Bron threw him in the ring and Joe guillotined him then hit some elbows on the back of the neck. Bron threw out Joe then Bron got knocked off the apron. Joe was thrown into the apron on the outside but he did a turnaround under the bottom rope and then lariated him. Bron tried to moun and pound him during the PiP break but Joe hit a headbutt and some strikes.

We returned and Joe pulled Bron off the 2nd rope. Joe then hung upside down in the corner and then uranage'd him. They traded shots and Joe hit some headbutts then Bron came back with shoulders Druids appeared in the arena then kicked Bron through the ropes to the floor. Joe tried to tope him but got hit with a forearm. Bron came off the 2nd rope with a bulldog.

Bron did a nice frankensteiner then they botched a belly to belly. Gacy hit an alabama slam then hit a liger bomb for 2. Joe missed a handspring into a lariat then got speared for the Bron Breakker win. The druids got on the apron after but the show ended before we could see where it went.

This wasn't too good. Bron didn't get enough offense in and it did little to help his character.

Overall thoughts: We had a couple of good ones here with the Raiders vs The Creed's, Waller vs Frazer and the opener. I also liked the Tony D'Angelo/Santos Escobar deal. The main wasn't too good, but the show was strong enough without it.
