Ice Ribbon 5/7/2022 - Ice Ribbon #1200
Misa Kagura vs Ibuki Hoshi
Ibuki has new red and black gear here. Misa forearm flurries her on the ropes and knocks the ref out of the way. They shoulder battle which Ibuki wins. They mess up a face buster then Ibuki camel clutches her. Misa hits a shotgun dropkick on her.
They trade chops for chest forearms. Ibuki octopus stretches her then Misa comes back with a nice lariat, then an elbow and a senton. Ibuki does a nice cartwheel out of a running attack and dropkicks her. Ibuki runs into the corner and Misa sits on her back with a double reverse armbar.
Ibuki hits a bad codebreaker then double chops her for 2. Ibuki then slides under and rolls her up for the win.
They had some botches here, but it was better than Misa's usual efforts.
Yappy and Totoro Satsuki vs Rina Amikura and Nao Ishikawa
Nao and Rina wear old school red dresses and Misa has an old straw hat.
Rina and Nao double slap Totoro's back and try to double armbar her but Totoro wakes up and gets mad. Yappy hanging chokes Nao in the corner. Yappy takes some running corner attacks then is double falling splashed. Totoro and Yappy double shoulder Rina then Rina shoulders down and sentons Yappy.
Yappy catches Rina's arm and kind of leg drops her body. Totoro then sits on Rina's back and does a bow and arrow. Totoro sentons Rina a few times then Nao cartwheel splashes Totoro. Nao is caught on a crossbody and thrown down.
Totoro slams Rina onto Nao, then Yappy climbs on Totoro's back and they splash Nao. Yappy does a nice leg drop on Nao. Nao comes back with a nice slam then is thrown off the top. Yappy and Totoro then do a senton + leg drop combo on her. Nao cartwheel headscissors Yappy into a pin attempt then Nao does a nice roll-up on Yappy to win.
I didn't have any issues with this. It under 10 minutes and pretty fast paced.
Sumika Yanagawa and Yuko Sakurai vs Saran and Yuuki Mashiro
Yuuki and Sumika go at it early with Yuuki almost getting an eye poke in. Yuko camel clutches Saran. Saran takes some snapmares from Yuko then Sumika. Yuko bangs Saran's head off the buckles.
Yuuki comes in and I think Yuko and Sumika screw up a spot. The two get pushed into each other then Yuuki stacks them up and double stomps both. Yuuki dropkicks Yuko but gets a shoulder then Sumika gets in and flying kicks her. Sumika and Yuko then put their opponents in submissions at the same time but both escape.
Sumika headbutts Yuuki then eye pokes her. Yuuki hits a nice dropkick. Saran rolls and ducks a spinning Sumika kick then dropkicks her. Sumika and Yuko get put in the corner and then take dropkicks from both opponents. Saran then top rope crossbodies her for 2.
Saran does an up and over into the corner on Sumika then takes a codebreaker for 2. Sumika then submits Saran with a bow and arrow.
Yuuki's dropkicks were good here but neither Yuko or Sumika are that great and this wasn't that interesting. Sumika did show a little personality here though.
Kaho Matsushita vs Asahi
Asahi has some new colorful ring entrance gear.
Kaho goes for a handshake but brainbusters her off of it. Asahi then double arm suplexes her back. They trade forearms and Asahi camel clutches her. Kaho dropkicks her. Asahi comes back and holds her upside down against the ropes then running boots her after a battle over a slam attempt.
Asahi does a bad facebuster then does a nice armbar into a double armbar. Kaho hits some kicks to Asahi's back then dropkicks her in the back. Kaho hits more chest forearms then Asahi comes back with a 619 and a clothesline. Asahi then top rope dropkicks her for 2. Kaho rolls her into a figure foure variation.
They fight over a suplex and Kaho sitout gordbusters her Kaho then top rope dropkicks her for 2. Kaho step up enzugiri's her then does something like Fuka's f-crash for 2. Asahi is thrown into the buckle but runs up it and twisting crossbodies Kaho on the way down. They sell for a while after it. Asahi barely is able to slam her then does a top rope twisting splash to win it.
Asahi got hurt here near the end and it screwed things up. They both tried here and showed some promise, but they a while away from being able to have long epic main events. It was better than it would have been a month or two ago and it was fun as a glimpse to see what things will be like, but they aren't finished products yet.
Overall thoughts: The New Era of Ice Ribbon isn't off to a good start with injuries and with the two best wrestlers on the roster being gone. The wrestlers did try and did a little more than usual, but it's going to be some wavy waters ahead when Yuuki Mashiro is going to be looked at to be the vet.
