AEW Rampage 5/20/2022

This was on at 7PM EST. It had been on at 530PM EST the last two weeks.

The House of Black vs Dark Order (Evil Uno and 10) and Fuego del Sol

King takes a hurricarana then gets control over Pizza Uno. Black and Uno trade shoulders then 10 gets in and belly to belly suplexes Black. Black then does a nice trip into a leg lock. Sol comes in and gets armdragged then Buddy double stomps Sol's arm. Buddy then does penta's arm snap and pose to Uno.

Uno takes a double kick then 10 takes a double facekick on the apron. We go to PiP break and return to Sol hitting a standing spanish fly on Buddy. 10 gets in and hits a bunch of offense on everyone. 10 lariats Brody over the top then Black takes a cutter over the top rope then a wheelbarrow german.

Black hits a big knee on 10 then rolls 10 into a heel hook. 10 spinning lariats Black then Uno hits a bunch of running facekicks. Black 2nd rope moonsaults 10 on the floor then Sol gets ddt'd on the ramp. Brody hits a big lariat on Uno then does a sit out dominator on his knees and wins it.

It wasn't the worst thing ever but I just don't get why this feud is still going on. It's just pulling HoB down and has been going on forever.

Death Triangle come out after with a tombstone with House of Black on it at Double or Nothing.

The Gunn Club and Max Caster are interviewed. We see a clip of Bowens getting injured. The Gunn's and Max call Billy daddy. Billy says they will have a scissor party when Bowens comes back.

FTR is interviewed. They agree to Roppongi Vice's challenge. They said they want the IWGP tag titles and tell them they won't make a joke of wrestling like they do. Dax promises to give them the toughest fight ever.

Shawn Spears vs Big Damo

This is Big Damo's debut in AEW. Damo has a shaved head now and some awful looking tights. They go outside and Damo gets kicked coming back in. Damon then crossbodies him on the floor. Spears a misses a springboard move and takes Wade Barrett's wasteland. Damo sentons him and misses a vader bomb then takes a bte trigger. Spears then death valley drivers Damo to win it.

This was a quick squash, as if Spears needs it. I like Damo and I hate Spears. The kayfabe explanation for this is that it is a warm-up for Wardlow, but I think it's stupid. I hate people losing on their debut here and I think Spears is a Miz type guy who is too silly to be taken seriously. Damo's worth a lot more than him and I can't believe a rational person would put Spears over him.

Spears gets on the mic after and says he is Wardlow's kryptonite. He said he proved 2 days ago Wardlow is not superman. He said he won't be in the cage with Wardlow, but says Wardlow is locked in the cage with Shawn Spears the "Giant Killer".

The Undisputed Elite do a promo. Cole puts over Kyle for doing his dirty work this week beating up Fenix and Sting. Kyle teases doing a fingerpoke of doom against him in the finals but says they will just have a straight match. The Bucks said they should have a tag team dream match with the Hardy's at Double or Nothing. Tag partners feuding might have worked better if we hadn't seen it already this month.

Owen Hart Tournament Quarterfinals - Red Velvet vs Kris Statlander

Kris gorilla presses her early then does it with one arm and drops her. Red goes for a spinning headscissors but Kris throws her off. Kris slides outside but is caught in the apron and pummeled on. Jerichi announces Red is the Sports Entertainer of the Week. Red comes off the apron and is caught and slammed on it.

We return and Kris knees her in the face then rolls her into a wheelbarrow german. Red does a pump into a spinning neckbreaker for 2. Kris then comes back with a blue thunder bomb. Red double knees her against the ropes then rolls her body first into the mat. Red goes for a roll-up but it gets blocked and Kris wins it.

This really wasn't anything special but Red didn't blow anything so that's good.

Kiera Hogan and Red jump Kris after. Ruby Soho makes the save after being on commentary. Jade comes in and throws Ruby backwards into the mat. Anna Jay then comes out and grabs Mark Sterling's crutch and chases them off.

We get clips of Tony Nese, Mark Sterling, Danhausen and Hook training.

Ethan Page, Scorpio Sky and Dan Lambert talk in the ring. Sky tells Sammy Guevara to come out with his belt or said he would "bury him". Sammy appears outside on the tron with the TNT title. Sammy threatens to sledgehammer the title unless he is given a TNT title match, then he does do it. Frankie Kazarian then comes out. He was mad about Ethan Page interfering last week then destroys the belt too. Sammy then said the match will happen one way or the other.

Britt Baker and Toni Storm are interviewed. Toni said she will rearrange Britt's teeth if there is any funny business in their match and Britt walks off.

Daniel Bryan, Jon Moxley, Matt Sydal and Dante Martin do a split screen promo for their main event. Dante says he wants one of his biggest wins to date. Sydal says he wants to empower Dante and not bloody him like Bryan and Mox would. He said he wants peace, love and pro wrestling. Bryan says he wants violence in his pro wrestling and says violence is working.

Jade and friends do a promo and kick out Tony. Jade calls out Anna Jay and tells her to come get her @ss whooping at Double of Nothing.

Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley vs Dante Martin and Matt Sydal

A fan goes for a high five on Mox but he just spikes his water bottle down at him instead. Matt gets taken outside early and thrown into the rails. Mox then PK's Dante and brainbusters him. Bryan surfboards Dante. Mox then gut punch combos Dante in the corner.

Sydal does a nice spin kick to Mox then slices him with his leg.  He then standing corkscrew moonsaults him for 2. Mox then stun guns Sydal and Bryan flying knees Dante off the apron. We go to PiP break. We return and Dante dropkicks Bryan. He then crossbodies him over the top.

Dante then crossbodies Danielson from the top. Bryan puts Matt in a grounded sleeper on the floor then top rope double underhook suplexes Dante. Bryan then kick flurries Dante while he is down. Sydal spinning heel kicks Bryan then Mox takes sandwich double high kicks.

Sydal lifts Dante for a shotgun dropkick on Mox then he top rope meteora's Bryan on the apron. Dante then double jump moonsaults Mox for 2. Dante misses a top rope dropkick then Mox piledrivers him for 2. Mox hits a paradigm shift ddt on Dante after an elbow flurry and wins it. Mox then had blood coming from his mouth.

It was an okay match. Sydal and Dante did their flying before their eventual loss. It would have been better if it wasn't randomly thrown together though.

Mox and Bryan then fight JAS on the ramp. Santana, Eddie and Ortiz join in to close the show. Bryan got his leg stuck in the ramp here and maybe it was a work or not, but you couldn't really notice it.

Overall thoughts: I didn't like this one. Damo losing to Spears on his debut sucked and I'm over the HoB/Death Triangle/Sol crap. I thought the main was okay though.
