WCW Monday Nitro 9/11/2000

David Flair is getting ready for his wedding tonight and is greeted by Crowbar and Daffney when arriving.
Jeff Jarrett is in the back and says maybe the band needs to play tonight and grabs his guitar.
The Filthy Animals arrive. Konnan has Tygress feel his hat then the Disco Inferno takes the night. He says he is tough too. He says he is mad about Kronik beating him up and he's going to do something about it - he says Rey and Juvi will beat them up.
Kronik vs Filthy Animals (Rey Mysterio and Juventud Guerrera)
Wrath takes double basement dropkicks then gets a top rope legdrop to the nuts from Rey for the Filthy Animals win.
I thought Kronik bumped too much and went down too easy here. Rey also probably should have been DQ'd for the top rope nut legdrop shot.
Stacy Keibler and her family arrive in a limo for the wedding.
We get clips of Russo's Triple Cage Match from last week with Russo using shoot terms. Nash won the title in that one.
We go to the commentary booth and they talk about Russo getting a concussion during the match. Mark Madden claims Russo underwent brain surgery and is barely alive from it.
We go backstage and Terry Taylor is looking for Booker T and Sting, saying Cat is getting beaten up. Terry says not to let the NWO take over.
Big Vito comes out. He says he has a stickball bat on a pole match with Reno. He says the first guy to get the bat gets to use it and says he will crack his head open.

Chuck Palumbo is out there with Reno. Reno takes a bad Japanese armdrag then Vito pounds on him. Vito hits a top rope elbow drop and Chuck gets on the apron. Reno gets rammed into the ref and knocks Chuck off the apron. Vito gets the bat but is caught with an exploder suplex. Mark Madden says he saw Vito snort parmesan cheese in the back then Reno hits a roll of the dice. Johnny the Bull comes in the ring to help out Vito and we have a 2v2 staredown. Johnny then turns on Vito, hitting him with a kendo stick shot and Reno wins it.
This was a short waste of time with a dumb swerve.
Vito gets up and hits all 3 with the kendo stick. Jindrak, Stasiak and O'Haire then come down and beat up on Vito. Vito gets beat with a kendo stick and slammed down.
The Cat is on the phone in the back. Booker T and Sting come in. Cat says they need to take the show tonight and tells Miss Jones to stay there as they get them some.
Torrie Wilson is headed to the ring for a match with Medusa.
Jarrett, Steiner and Nash are in the back saying they are in charge. Booker, Cat and Sting come in with a crowbar and bat. Cat threatens to fire them.
Medusa is interviewed. She is asked about Torrie Wilson. She says Torrie can't retain information and says the girls in WCW are hired on looks alone. She says she will show Torrie what it is like to be a woman in the WCW instead of just eye candy.
Torrie Wilson vs Medusa
Medusa pulls her off the apron into the ring by her hair. She slaps her around then suplexes her. Shane Douglas comes in and Medusa beats him up. Medusa misses a 2nd rope dropkick on him and Torrie is DQ'd.
There was nothing to this before it ended.

Shane hits the franchiser (reverse stunner) then belly to belly suplexes Medusa. Shane puts her in the STF and dares Medusa to reverse it as Torrie talks trash. Billy Kidman comes down to make the save and dropkicks Shane, then barely is able to get him over the top on a clothesline.
Medusa gets on the mic after. She calls her a punk and tells her and Shane to get back in here. She asks to make a tag match between Medusa/Kidman vs Torrie/Shane. Shane says they accept and Medusa is dead meat.
Crowbar helps David Flair get ready.
Jimmy Hart then gives Stacy Keibler a registered letter.
We see a limo and the Partridge Family bus arrive. Mike Awesome is in the bus.
Scott Steiner throws something and yells at Nash. He says he came to fight Goldberg and wants to know why Nash is so calm. Nash says not to worry about the match as they can do the fingerpoke of doom again. Nash wants Steiner to take the loss and Scott isn't thrilled with it.
Jeff Jarrett gets on the mic. He asks about what girls are thinking when they try to take on men. He says he enjoys embarrassing the opposite sex and tells her to come down.
Jarrett is Handcuffed - Jeff Jarrett vs Ms. Jones
The Cat comes down with Ms. Jones and asks for the handcuffs and the keys. He cuffs Jeff then punches him. Ms. Jones says no more and tells him to go, saying, "I have spoken".
Jones kicks him and snapmares him. Jeff is thrown into the rails then holds the ref inside. Jones accidentally low blows the ref then low blows Jeff. She goes for a guitar shot but Jeff gets hold of it and nails her with it. The ref then counts the pin.
This was just stupid.
Jeff goes for a chair after then Mike Awesome comes in and lariats him. Mike then hits a big flying shoulder and top rope lariats him. Jeff then runs for it.
Kevin Nash is drawing on a whiteboard in the back. He draws himself then a short version of Scott Steiner, which Scott protests. Nash draws himself pushing over Scott, then Scott draws his version where he wins the match. They argue over who lays down and Scott leaves in anger.
"Hacksaw" Jim Duggan comes out. He said he wants to thank the fans for years of support. He said two years ago he was diagnosed with cancer and said he beat it with the help of the fans, friends and family. He said he watched Nitro and there's one opponent he can't beat - Father Time. He said he feels like the business has passed him by and he's not afraid to step aside. He said he wants the young talent to make a future for wrestling and says he is retiring.
Duggan says he only carried the flag and his 2v4 for the last 20 years and said he wants someone to carry the flag and the torch for him. He said he needed someone strong and tough who loves the US like he does. He then calls out General Rection.
General Rection comes out and they shake hands. Duggan gives him the flag and they hug. Lance Storm then comes out with Major Gunns. Lance says Duggan isn't passing anyone anything. He said nobody cares about Duggan or his country and says just because they have a title match at Fall Brawl, doesn't mean he can't beat him up tonight. He says he will do it in front of Duggan.
General Rection vs Lance Storm
Storm jumps him from behind and does some awful kicks. Rection is thrown into the rails then Storm gets his head banged off the rails. Rection tries to counter a suplex and takes some weird neckbreaker. Storm goes for something off the 2nd rope and is seated powerbombed. Rection misses a top rope moonsault then gets put in the texas cloverleaf. Rection rope breaks and Duggan points it out then Storm nails Duggan. Storm goes up top and gets hit by the 2v4. Storm falls into a Rection powerslam and Rection wins.
The finish was well done and it was okay despite being very short. Rection's partners then celebrate with him.
Stacy Keibler opens up the letter and says "Oh my God".

The commentators talked about the wedding and Madden mentioned how they always go well mockingly. Crowbar and Daffney are down there.
David Flair says he let down his friends and family then brought out Arn Anderson, who he said he really let down. Arn said he had some words of wisdom. He told David it's easier to get forgiveness then permission. He then told David to hide the money from wedding gifts. He then told him Keibler will meet him at the door when he comes home late from a party. He said Keibler will get mad but to go get a good night sleep. He then said take the money he took from the wedding and run for his life.
David then asks Ric Flair to come down. Ric has spiked hair for this. Ric said he thought his theme music for the last time a few months ago but said this is about him and his son putting their life back together. He said it is not about wrestling tonight, just David's wedding.
Police then come to the ring. An officer comes in and says Vince Russo put a restraining order against Ric today. He said if Ric came within 100 feet of the arena, he had to be arrested. He then handcuffed Ric and took him out. Stacy then leaves the ring and we go to break.
Ric is taken to a car in the parking lot and Arn says he will take care of David and will be down at the station.
Arn's promo was really good here and Ric getting arrested got some heat from me.
Mark Madden talks about Russo's injuries and brain surgery. We go to hospital. The doctor said the tests were conclusive that he had a blood clot in his brain. They showed clips of the supposed surgery and said the surgery was a success. They said Russo won't recover for 2-5 months
Sting vs The Harris Brothers
This was not good.
Jarrett and Steiner argue in the back. Steiner says he isn't doing the job tonight while Jeff tells him just to get through the night.
Stacy is pacing in the back and David Flair walks in. David wants to continue the wedding and Stacy says they will re-plan this. David pushes her to try again.
Stacy and David try to get married again. The priests asks if anyone objects to the marriage and the fans make noise. Stacy then raises her hand. Stacy says something has been eating at her all day. She says that David isn't the father of her baby that she is pregnant with. David wants to know who the father is then Stacy runs off.
Stacy gets in a limo and leaves. David runs after her and throws something.
Mike Awesome goes to the bus with a girl then Jeff Jarrett jumps him. The Natural Born Thrillers then all jump Mike. Mike is thrown into the side of a truck and is hit with a box. The Thrillers say they are going to take him to the top of the bus.
Scott Steiner is interviewed about his match with Nash. Steiner says he lays down for nobody and says this won't stop him from getting even with Goldberg. He says size does matter. He says his freaks don't have to wait for the earth to rotate to see the big dipper, because he has the big dipper. He says he will bump and grind them and show why he is the big bad booty daddy. He says he will whisper in Goldberg's ear at Fall Brawl that size does matter. This was quite dirty but there's few men on the mic like Scott Steiner. This was a hilarious promo.
The Cat comes out again to join the commentators.
WCW World Title - Special Ref: Booker T, Special Enforcer: Goldberg - Kevin Nash (c) vs Scott Steiner
Booker actually makes the referee stripes look good. He gets on the mic and says he will get his title back at Fall Brawl from Nash. He tells Nash not to hate the player, but hate the game.
Steiner is wearing a face mask here from a broken orbital socket. Nash pokes Steiner and Steiner pokes him back. Neither guy falls and Madden says to try two fingers. Nash hits Steiner in the face then side slams him. Steiner clotheslines him and drops an elbow. Booker checks for Nash's shoulders then Steiner gets mad at him. He yells "bullsh*t" then kicks him low. Booker then gets double teamed before Goldberg comes in and cleans house. Steiner then low blows Goldberg.
Steiner throws Booker outside then chairs him while Nash beats up Goldberg. Nash suplexes Goldberg then Goldberg takes a double clothesline. Steiner beats up Goldberg outside. Goldberg makes his come back and nails Steiner on the apron, knocking Cat off. Booker hits some moves on Nash then Goldberg powerslams Steiner. Goldberg spears Steiner then Mike Awesome's bus drives down.
The Natural Born Thrillers attack and Jeff Jarrett comes out with a pipe. Cat jumps in and gets hit with the pipe from Steiner. Booker gets put on the hood of the bus and has his head banged through the windshield. Goldberg then gets handcuffed to the grill and Steiner hits him with a pipe. Goldberg pulls off the grill while cuffed and the show ends immediately.
The ending segment was wild and was entertaining. I think they ran out of time and I'm curious as to what else was supposed to happen.
As for the match, it didn't really make sense why Steiner and Nash started to fight each other then gave it up to fight other people. Goldberg also looked like an idiot here watching Booker get beat up when he was supposed to prevent that.
Overall thoughts: It wasn't a good show. I did like the ending but it was a Russo style car crash show with a bunch of things happening and shocking moments that didn't make a ton of sense. There was interference up and down the show and tons of short matches.
