We are in Atlanta, Georgia at the State Farm Arena.
We see various wrestlers arrive. We see Randy Orton talk to Jelly Roll.
Jesse Ventura and Joe Tessitore welcome us to the show. Jesse calls him "Mean Joe". He says Goldberg will have to battle his age and needs to win quick and early. Jesse says Orton and Drew are in for a war and he knows Orton's dad well. He says the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. He says it'll be a war so he wore his war hat.
Michael Cole and Wade Barrett are on commentary.
Randy Orton vs Drew McInytre
Jelly Roll is with Orton and Logan Paul is with Drew.
Drew hits a boot then punches in the corner. Orton hits mounted corner punches and is pulled down. Orton then hits mounted corner punches. Orton lariats Drew over the top. Drew backdrops Orton on the commentary table twice.
We go to break and return. Orton is sent into the corner. Drew hits chops on Orton. Orton no sells them. Orton hits lariats. Drew headbutts him. Drew misses a top rope move and Orton powerslams him.
Orton backdrops Drew on the commentary table three times. Drew hits him in the throat. Drew comes in and Orton draping ddt's him over the 2nd rope. Logan Paul distracts Orton. Drew claymore kicks Orton for 2. Logan Paul pushes Jelly Roll outside and Jelly pushes him over.
Drew tells Jelly to come in and fight him. Orton then RKO's Drew and wins.
Thoughts: It was short and not much of note. They just didn't get the time to do anything too special and they didn't bother. This was mostly here to build up a likely Summerslam tag match with Orton/Jelly vs Drew/Logan.
Logan Paul knocks out Orton after and hits mounted shots. Jelly heads into the ring and throws Logan down.
Logan tries to hit him and Jelly hits a big forearm. Drew then claymore kicks Jelly from the side. Officials and refs then come down to help out. Jelly is down and Orton wants to know what happened.
Aldis and Pearce talk to Drew and Logan in the back. Pearce says to make this make sense. They argue loudly and we cut away.
Iyo Sky, Rhea Ripley and Jade Cargill are at ringside. Naomi then comes out in full gear and nails Jade from behind and dumps her over the rail. Naomi pounds on her and gets her back then officials come back down to break it up. Jade running forearms Naomi and pounds on her. Naomi is thrown over the commentary table. Naomi jumps off the commentary table onto Jade and the officials.
Naomi gets on the commentary table. Aldis says that's enough. He said he had a feeling they couldn't wait until tomorrow night. He said he made an arrangement prior to this and said he has someone who can introduce order in their match. He brings out Bianca Belair, who will be the special guest ref.
We see that Doug Dillinger is here as is Diamond Dallas Page.
WWE United States Title Match - Solo Sikoa (c) vs Jimmy Uso
Solo talks trash at Uso. Uso gets some punches in. Uso hits a chop then is back elbowed. Solo is pulled over the top then Uso topes him. Uso comes off the top and Solo uranages him for 2. Uso goes to slingshot in and is hit. Talla Tonga lariats Uso outside.
We go to break and return. They fight on the apron. Uso is sent back first into the post. He superkicks Solo ont he apron then germans him there. Uso top rope crossbodies him for 2. Uso hits a corner hip attack. Uso top rope splashes him for 2. Solo uranages him. Uso superkicks Solo. Uso hits a top rope corkscrew moonsault on Solo and his buddies outside.
Uso superkicks Tala outside and kicks him from the apron. Solo rolls up Uso and pins him with help from Talla (Talla pushed him into Uso more on the pin with his foot).
Thoughts: It was another shorter one. They got some nice spots in but it wasn't anything too great. There was no real reason to think Solo was losing here.
Talla facekicks Uso after then Solo's crew pound on Uso. Solo then samoan spikes him and poses. Jacob Fatu comes out. Fatu beats up on Solo's crew. Fatu and Talla stare down. Fatu hits punches then takes a facekick. Talla is pulled over the top then Fatu topes Solo and Talla.
Randy Orton and Jelly Roll are interviewed in the back. Orton said he shouldn't have had him out there with Drew and Logan. Jelly says he's a grown man. He says they underestimated him. Jelly says he wants them both anywhere and anytime. Orton then says "Summerslam" and they agree to team up. Orton calls the team "RK-Roll".
The Steiner Brothers are in the front row.
Seth Rollins vs LA Knight
LA backs him up in the corner. They trade punches in the middle of the ring. LA back elbows him. LA keeps holding his ribs. LA back body drops Seth over the top then dropkicks him through the ropes. Seth's head is banged off the commentary table. LA flying lariats him from the commentary table.
We go to break and return. Seth has LA in the bodyscissors. LA hits punches. Seth fireman's carry gutbusters him. Seth hits a top rope splash for 2. LA hits punches. Seth superkicks him in the injured gut. LA spinning lariats him.
LA jumping neckbreakers him then ddt's him. LA double jump elbow drops him for 2. LA stomps him in the corner. They go up top. Seth slips under and buckle bombs him. LA tries to lift him but can't due to the injured gut. Seth superkicks him. Seth springboard swantons him. Seth asai moonsaults, lands on his knees and his leg gives out. Seth is down and talks to Paul and the ref.
The match stalls and a doctor checks on Seth. Seth gets up, LA hits a BFT and pins him.
Thoughts: Seth got injured here and this ended prematurely. It's a weird thing as you obviously don't want to see anyone get injured but this is the biggest win of LA Knight's career. LA Knight was also having one of his better matches when the injury went down. I won't rate this as obviously this didn't go as planned. There's a lot of questions about what happens from here as Seth is in the main heel group on Raw and he has the MITB contract. We'll have to see where this goes and how long Seth is out for as some major plans may have just gotten ruined. I would be tempted to have Seth give Bron his MITB contract though.
Blake Monroe is at ringside as is Jacy Jayne.
Goldberg has a bunch of security with him as he comes out including Ernest Miller, Doug Dillinger, Josh Barnett and his son.
WWE World Heavyweight Title Match - Gunther (c) vs. Goldberg
This is supposed to be Goldberg's last match. While I think that's likely, it's wrestling and you never know. Gold shoves him down off the lock-up. Gun boots him then Gold shoulders him hard into the ropes. Gun chops him and Gold just laughs. Gold lariats him down. Gold hits shots in the corner. Gold hits a big lariat. Gun hits a hard lariat. Gold throws him off the top. Gold goes for the spear and Gun moves.
Gold elbows him in the head outside and punches him in the gut. Gun kicks him in his padded up knee. Gold misses a charge and goes through the timekeepers rail. We go to break and return.
Gun leglocks Gold. They trade chops. Gun drops him with a boot to the knee. Gun hits another boot to the knee. Gold then catches him and spinebusters him down. Gold clubs on him in the corner. Gold back body drops him. Gold tries to spear him but Gun moves and the ref is speared.
Gun takes off Gold's knee brace. Gun hits gold with the knee brace. Gun goes up top Gold's son Gabe. Gun tells him to get out of here. Gun pushes him. Security backs up Gabe. Gun comes back in and Gold spears him. Gold then jackhammers him.
Another ref comes down and Gold gets a 2 count on the pin attempt. Gun then does a grounded sleeper. Gold is out and Gun wins.
Thoughts: It was a decent match here. It was nothing too great but Gold didn't get exposed. They covered him well by having Gun kick him in the knee so he could go down and take breathers. It wasn't anything great but they did about as well as they could with it given the circumstances and I liked it.
We get some clips after the match. Goldberg's friends are all in the ring and Cole is there. Gold says he never lost in Atlanta and he apologizes for being subpar. He says he has 100 friends and family here and says he thanks them all. He says the fans were wonderful and he couldn't have done it without them. The speech then gets cut off.
Overall thoughts: It was your usual SNME. The commercials interfered with a lot of the matches and the first two matches didn't get much time. Orton/Drew was short and just a vehicle to set up the Summerslam tag. Solo/Uso was short but they did try to squeeze as much in as they could. LA Knight was having one of his better matches vs Seth then Seth got injured. They then called an audible after a pause and LA beat Seth in the biggest win of his career. The main was fine with them covering up Goldberg's weaknesses well and them having a nice heavyweight match before Gun won. I'd give the show a 6 out of 10 overall.
