WWE LFG 7/20/2025 Season 2, Episode 5

We are told the wrestlers have to either work big or work small tonight.

Shawn Michaels greets the trainees and says size matters. He says it matters in wrestling. He brings in The Undertaker and says it's big vs small, a simple a story. He says he wants them to take advantage of that story. Drake says he's the biggest dude now. Shawn says this story often doesn't get told right. He says the way they worked in 1996 was different than the way they worked in 2009 and 2010.

Taker says the fans love to root for the underdog. He says on paper, it looked like he would kill Shawn and he said he did. But he said Shawn was still there at the end of the day. Shawn says it's about hope and an upset. Chris Island says he's seen their Mania match over 25 times. Penina says they were one of the best matchups. BJ says he didn't watch their stuff, it's not that special and the story is easy to understand. Shawn says the mental side and the story is the hardest part in wrestling. Shawn says they will judge how well you utilize your size.

Booker T talks to his team. Bayley says she has an edge as a bigger person. Elijah says he could be big or small as he's muscular but shorter. Bubba says asks his team if they notice anything different about Shawn and they say he is passionate. Bubba says what Shawn and Taker did was money then he tells Zena not to dance.

Taker wants to see Bayley vs Summer. McCool agrees. Booker wants Chris Island to be his clay to mold and Taker says he should fight Drake.

Booker agrees as he wants something different out of Chris. McCool says they should do Penina vs Dani. Taker says Dani has a chip on her shoulder and is ready to prove herself. Bubba says they should do Elijah vs Anthony Luke. McCool likes it.

Dani says it's an advantage to be the smallest one in the competition. Chris says it's a new look and minset but the job is the same. 

Anthony Luke says this is his game and he's going against the most fly and handsome wrestler. He says he will find out what happens when you mess with "Showtime" Anthony Luke.

Elijah Holyfield vs Anthony Luke

We go to break then start. Luke does boxing shuffles and poses. Eli bops him in the head. Eli does a nice leapfrog and lariats him. Eli is caught coming off the apron then rammed into the apron edge and post back first.

Luke hits a lariat for 2. Luke slams Eli and does more boxing moves. Luke hits another slam and poses. Luke then suplexes him for 2. Luke chinlocks him and throws him down. Luke does a trapezus hold on him then clubs him.

Eli escapes a suplex and Luke misses a corner charge. Eli back elbows him then shoulders him over. Eli then does a flying shoulder and a slam. Eli hits a hard corner spear then a bulldog for 2. Luke back elbows him then Eli hits him in the gut. Eli uranages him for the win.

Thoughts: Luke's control segment was slow and very boring which brought this down. Eli's offense looked good but it was too late to bring this one back from the dead.

Penina says people didn't come to see her cheer, they came to see the football players when she was a cheerleader. She says she will lay her out. 

Dani Sekelsky vs Penina Tuilaepa

Dani shows a bunch of energy and does a standing backflip in the ring. PT throws her off the lock-up then does a wild head throw.

Dani clips her and dropkicks her. PT hits a samoan drop for 2 then does an abdominal stretch while holding the leg and hair. PT is sent into the buckles. Dani hits chops and PT headbutts her. PT hits a corner hip attack then pulls Dani's leg around the bottom rope.

Dani is then pulled against the post. PT hits a hard spear. Dani hits a hell's gate out of nowhere and PT is forced to tap out.

Thoughts: Dani didn't get to fly much here but I liked what we got. PT threw her around and Dani didn't get a lot in but the surprise submission win.

Drake says it's a tough night to be Chris Island. He says Chris is stepping into the swamp with Drake and he says it's see ya later, alligator.

Chris Island vs Drake Morreaux

CI has fist and ankle tape along with white shorts on. Drake tries to hit him with his stick and misses. CI hits shots to the gut.

Drake facekicks him then misses a splash. CI escapes a chokeslam and is back elbowed. Drake boots him then chokes him on the ropes with his leg. CI hits punches and they botch a move with CI banging his face off the mat.

CI hits punches then Drake lariats him. Drake hits mounted shots. Drake splashes him for 2. Drake trapezus holds him. CI hits punches. Drake blocks a sunset flip and lariats him for 2. Drake chinlocks him. CI hits punches then flying shoulders him for 2.

CI olympic slams him for 2. CI is caught coming off the top and Drake chokeslams him to win.

Thoughts: Chris showed a bit more fire than usual here and definitely tried to be the underdog. Drake could have been a bit more rough and heelish with him. It was just a match and not much more.

Bayley Humphrey vs Summer Sorrell

This is the only match that is in front of a true live crowd here.

They lock up and Bay pulls her down. Bay then throws her backwards off the lock up. Sum side headlocks her then Bay shoulders her over. Bay wristlocks her. Sum tries to roll out but Bay yanks her backwards. Sum rolls, cartwheels and forward cartwheels to reverse it. Sum wristlocks her.

Bay arm throws her and shoulders her over. Bay rams her into the corner and hits corner spears. Bay misses a corner splash then chokes her on the 2nd rope with her leg. Bay slams her for 2. Bay backbreakers her on her shoulder. Bay misses an elbow drop. Sum back elbows her out of the corner. Sum sunset flips her for 2. Sum crucifixes her for 2.

Bay backbreakers her. Bay then does a lift into a nice powerslams to win.

Thoughts: It was kind of one sided and a squash but it was fine. Bay did what she was supposed to here as the giant and Sum was fine with what she got.

It's now time to give out points. McCool votes for Penina. Bubba agrees. Taker says he screwed the booking up of Bay's match. Taker gives Penina his vote. Booker also picks Penina. Penina gets the point.

McCool gives Anthony Luke her vote. Taker gives Elijah his vote. Booker says Chris Island has work to do and says this season is Anthony's for the taking. Booker gives Elijah his vote. Bubba then agrees. Elijah gets the point.

Elijah leads the men with 2 points and Sirena leads the women with 2 points.

Team Booker is in the lead with 3 points. Team Undertaker ha 2 points. Team Bubba has 2 points and Team McCool has 1 point.

McCool says she's happy she got her first point. Drake says he's waiting for the lightbulb to go off. Summer wants to get a point. Bayley says Taker told her she will change the face of women's wrestling and she plans to do that.

Thoughts: I'd agree with Penina getting a point as she looked the best but Bayley should also be up for consideration. I'm also okay with Elijah getting a point.

Overall thoughts: Like the other episodes this season, we only saw half the roster this episode. Elijah/Luke was boring. I liked Dani/Penina and that was with Dani not even getting to show off much. Chris/Drake didn't impress that much though Chris was trying to show fire and be an underdog. Bayley/Summer was a squash but it was fine. As always, there's nothing you have to see here, but I like that the show is more focused on wrestling now than scripted drama.
