WWE Speed 4/30/2025

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2025/04/wwe-speed-4232025.html

WWE Speed Men's #1 Contender's Tournament Semifinals - Alex Shelley vs El Grande Americano

Grande flying double chops him to start. Alex hits punches and back elbows him. Alex misses a corner charge and takes a dragon screw. Alex stunners him over the top rope. Alex goes for a slingshot splash and Grande gets his knees up. Grande ankle locks him. Alex ropebreaks.

Grande is thrown out. Grande puts something in his mask and Alex flatliners him into the 2nd buckle for 2. Alex does the border city stretch. Grande rolls him up for 2. Grande flying double chops him/flying headbutts him. Grande hits a top rope headbutt drop and wins at 2:21.

Thoughts:
It was a short one and was mostly about Grande cheating to win here. It wasn't too much of note and Grande won as expected.

Overall thoughts: There was only one new match as usual. It wasn't too much of note with Grande cheating and winning. You don't need to see this one.

WWE NXT 4/29/2025

WWE NXT 4/29/2025

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2025/04/wwe-nxt-4222025.html

Next week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2025/05/wwe-nxt-562025.html

Booker T, Vic Joseph and Corey Graves are on commentary.

Joe Hendry comes out. Joe says he's back and just wrestled Randy Orton at Wrestlemania. He said he defended his title at Rebellion then Trick attacked him from behind. He said he expected retaliation from Trick but says Trick just crossed the line. He says Trick can't stand that they were talking about Joe and not him. He said Trick couldn't get the NXT Title so he thought he could hop over and get a TNA Title shot. He says he will say Trick's name and make him appear, then tells him to come out.

The Dark State come out and group jump Joe. Joe then is thrown into a group powerbomb.

We see clips from earlier of Ava talking to Iyo Sky. She asks if she has a partner for tonight. Iyo says not but she will find one. Jordynne Grace comes in and says she wants to be one step closer to the NXT Title.

Karmen Petrovic, Gigi Dolin and Tatum Paxley talk in the back. KP says they were so close twice this week. Gigi says they weren't even pinned at Rebellion. Ashante "Thee" Adonis comes in, calls them losers and says she needs to get ready for her match with Sol. He tells her it's tonight and she says she's not ready. He tells her to get ready as "we" will have a title match after.

WWE NXT North American Title - Ricky Saints (c) vs Lexis King

King nails RS from behind before it starts. RS boots him out of the corner and hits a 2nd rope dropkick. RS hits shots to the head and gut. RS chops him then euros him over.

RS overhead belly to belly suplexes him then dropkicks him through the ropes. We go to break and return. They double crossbody each other at the same time. King hits a top rope swanton for 2. King fireman's carry gutbusters him for 2. RS hits lariats and throws him down. RS charges into the corner when King moves. King rolls him up for 2.

King superkicks him. RS tornado ddt's him. RS hits a roshambo and wins.

Thoughts:
It was a short one with RS winning as expected. I hope there's a bigger picture to this because it did nothing for King. This wasn't anything too noteworthy.

The Culling do a video. Shawn Spears says his crew has fallen short of expectations. He says his crew must let his failures teach them and not define them. He says the NXT women's roster is deep so Izzy needs to focus. He says he needs her to take the spotlight and put it on herself. He brings up Hank and Tank being champs and says they need to focus on being a stronger team. He says he's here for them and needs them to rise up and seize control.

Tony D'Angelo comes out to talk. He says he didn't expect Stacks to betray him. He says when things turned sideways, he gave Stacks the benefit of the doubt. He said he always had Stacks' back as that's what loyalty is all about. He says Stacks has always wanted to lead the family. He said Stacks has had his back and stepped n and handled business when he couldn't. He says Stacks' impulses endangered the family and he had to show why he makes the big decisions. He says Stacks stuck the knife right in his back. He says his family is in disarray.

We see Stacks on a bridge. He says he will tell Tony what he needs to hear. He says he's sick of taking his orders. He says Tony was getting soft and was making decisions that let Dark State push them around. He says Tony isn't capable of leading them anymore. He says Tony was never going to leave the family so he had to take the reigns and put him in his place. He says he knows Tony is shaking. He says Tony is losing more power everyday.

He says Tony's probably wondering whether he can trust his own family. Stacks says Tony doesn't know who he can trust. Security, including Drako Knox, comes out and attacks Tony. They get thwarted and Drako is belly to belly suplexed over the top. Tony tells him if he wants to be The Don, he has to come take it himself.

Meta-Four is reunited and talks in the back. Dar says it's reunion time. Lash says they need to talk. She says a lot has changed since Dar was gone. Lash says she was in The Rumble and Oro has been killing it in Evolve. She says it's time for Oro to be his own main man on Evolve and not Dar's. She says Jakara needs to be on her own and Lash says she needs to lash out on her own. Dar agrees. They group hug and he says he's proud of everyone. Dar then talks to his Heritage Cup.

Thoughts: Meta-Four was never a big deal on this show and it's hard to feel much about them breaking up.

Sol Ruca vs Karmen Petrovic

Zaria is with Sol and Adonis is with KP. KP hits leg kicks and back kicks her. Sol facebusters her. Sol misses a 2nd rope moonsault but Zar kind of catches her. They each avoid shots and do a stand off.

KP spin kicks her. Sol flips over her. KP then hits mounted shots on her. KP sleepers her. KP basement dropkicks her. Sol hits some shots and flying shoulders her. Sol hits springboard twisting shoulderblocks. Sol does like a backpack stunner then running knees her.

Sol goes for a sol snatcher and is crotched on top. They go back in and Sol hits a sol snatcher soon after to win.

Thoughts:
It was another short one here that didn't get a lot of time. Sol won as expected. Hopefully the post match angle ends this Adonis/Karmen thing that no one has ever cared about.

Adonis tries to comfort KP after. He grabs her as she goes to leave and she high kicks him.

Trick Williams comes out to talk. He says he's been calling Joe Hendry's name all night but he's not coming out. He says Dark State know Joe doesn't belong. Trick says Joe had his number last week. He said he came to Joe's show and made it the Trick Williams show. He said he went to Hollywood there and said he's hitting the big screen. He says he will be on a show called The All-American.

Trick says Joe isn't on the same level as him. The crowd chants "Hollywood Trick". He says he's Hollywood and Joe is local talent. Trick says his lane is the same as The Rock and John Cena. He says Joe can't see him. Trick says he's moving onto bigger things and that's the NXT Title. He says he wants his title back and says Oba's title belongs to him.

Ava comes out. She says Trick doesn't get it. She asks what he's doing? He says he used to think he was NXT but is bigger than NXT. He says he's the biggest star here and the biggest star at TNA too. Ava says Trick can get a shot but he can take 25 steps back. Ava says there will be a 25-man battle royale next week and says the winner faces Oba Femi at Battleground.

Thoughts: We definitely saw a new side of Trick here and I'm curious if he will keep up the Hollywood angle.

Giulia and Roxanne Perez talk. RP says she wasn't the biggest fan of hers, since she took her title. Giulia says she's a great champ and says RP is right. Giulia says they should be together and RP says they are unstoppable.

Oba Femi is interviewed in the back. He says Trick's complains sound like the cries of a child. He says it doesn't matter how many times he faces Trick, the title will stay on his shoulder. The Undertaker comes in. He says this is Oba's yard now. Taker says he has some guys from LFG who are coming for him soon. Shiloh Hill, Anthony Luke and Jasper Troy show up behind him. Oba says he looks forward to the challenge and Taker says he knew he would.

We then cut to Booker T who is choked up by the LFG crew. He says he's so excited in a fun moment.

WWE NXT Tag Titles - Hank and Tank (Hank Walker and Tank Ledger) (c) vs Yoshiki Inamura and Josh Briggs

YI = Yoshiki Inamura

YI sumo shoulders Tank over. He then stomps him. Tanks boots him off the ropes. Hank corner splashes and facebusters YI. Tank sentons YI for 2. YI hits shots. JB back elbows Hank then crossbodies him. Hank sunset flips him for 2. Tank shoulders over YI. Tank then lifts Hank into a butt press on YI for 2.

Tank works YI's arm. They collide. YI chops him over. Tank takes a corner facekick and is whipped into another facekick. We go to break and return. Hank facekicks YI. They trade forearms. Hank running boots him then drops him down chest first. JB comes in and side slams Hank. He then splashes him. Hank takes a facekick + german combo for 2.

Hank top rope diving lariats YI. Hank is then popped up into a splash on YI. JB breaks up a double team then him and Hank go into the steps. JB chokeslams Tank. JB hits a big lariat on Tank then YI top rope splashes Tank for 2.

YI hits JB with Hank on accident. Tank forearms YI over. JB takes a double team shot + powerslam and is pinned.

Thoughts: I liked what we got of it as it was a fast paced heavyweight match with lots of kicks and people squashing each ohter. Hank and Tank had to win here so the result wasn't shocking.

NQCC talk in the back. Borne says Evolve, LFG and NXT talent will be in the battle royal next week. He asks where Charlie Dempsey is. Tav says Borne teamed with Je'Von Evans and Dempsey mad about it. Borne says it's their time to break out. Borne says they did everything Dempsey asked for them and he says they need to do things for themselves. He says he's in the battle royal. Tav wants in. Wren says Dempsey is a complex man.

Dark State does a video on X. Shugars says they made Joe's @ss disappear tonight. They talk trash about him and Shugars says Dark State is just getting started.

We go to Chase U, which is now back. Chase says welcome back. He says it's been a while and said Ridge ended Chase U 5 months ago. He said he wasn't sure that he'd open the doors again but says never say never. He says it's a new semester with a new agenda. Kale and Connors walk in late as the other student complains. Chase goes off on him for doing it. He says it just feels right and Chase U is back.

Sol Ruca and Zaria talk in the back. Kelani Jordan walks in and says when she was champ, she defended it every single match. She said she picked the girl to fight who has more distractions than she can count. Sol says KJ can step up whenever she wants. Zaria interrupts and says Sol isn't defending the title next week. She says if Kelani wants to step up to Sol, she has to step up to her first.

Joe Hendry is in medical. Hank and Tank walk up to him and ask if he's okay. Joe says he needs to get his hands on Dark State. Hank says say honk honk if he needs them as they are there. Joe then does the "honk honk" thing with them.

Iyo Sky and Jordynne Grace vs Giulia and Roxanne Perez

G = Giulia

Corey brings up Meiko Satomura retiring today. RP goes out and Iyo goes after her. RP runs into JG. JG lariats G over. Iyo corner spears RP then stomps on her. Iyo pendulum double knees her in the corner. Iyo hits a double dropkick on her opponents.

Iyo gets on JG's shoulders then is rolled into a swanton on RP for 2. G side headlock takeovers JG. JG shoulders G over then side slams her, dropping her on her neck. JG does a spinning big ending on G for 2.

G rakes JG's eyes after RP distracts the ref. RP stomps on JG in the corner then stomps her. RP headscissors JG into a russian legsweep. RP bangs JG's head off the mat. JG hits a double northern lights suplex. Iyo springboard dropkicks G. G rams Iyo in the corner.

JG hits back elbows on G then drops her chest first. JG rolling death valley drivers RP. JG germans G and makes her northern lights suplex RP in the process. She then gets a 2 count on it. G is on JG's back and is top rope double stomped by Iyo.

Iyo corner meteora's G. Iyo gets hit on the ropes and takes a top rope hurricanrana from RP. G hits a glorious driver on Iyo. RP double jump asai moonsaults Iyo for 2. G and JG fight on the apron. JG is pulled down by her hair. They roll on the floor and fight. RP and Iyo try pin attempts. RP bridges her and gets bridged. Iyo shotei's her. RP knees Iyo in the face and hits kicks. Iyo flips out of a sunset flip and buzzsaw kicks RP. Iyo top rope moonsaults RP and pins her to win.

Thoughts: It was a good tag here and they did what they were supposed to. Iyo was the highlight and made this one. She took some hard bumps and had a cool spot where she flipped out of a sunset flip. I liked this one and it was one of the few matches to truly get enough time tonight.

Ava talks to Stephanie Vaquer in the back. SV says she's ready to defend her title and wants to know who her next challenge is. Ava says Giulia or Jordynne Grace. She says the winner of that next week fights her at Battleground.

Overall thoughts: It was a decent NXT. There was nothing must see or truly great here though. We had some fairly notable stuff here with Chase U returning, the WWE LFG crew getting on the show and Meta-Four breaking up. I'd give this one a 6 out of 10 as it was fine and the main was good. You might want to see the main if you are really into the women but it wasn't a classic.

Mike then asai moonsaults onto all of them outside.
Jack and Honda collide with lariats. Jack lariats him over for 2. Honda hits a big lariat on Jack then hits a 2nd one for 2. Honda running one arm powerbombs Jack and wins.

Thoughts:
It was an okay opener. We got some highlights here. Honda and Jack matched up well here. I'd like to see them fight but sadly Jack didn't make the cut for the Carnival. There was nothing wrong with this and it was a good appetizer for the night.

Champion Carnival 2025 Block A Match - Shotaro Ashino vs. Xyon

X pushes him off the lock up. Sho waistlocks him and X throws him off. Sho side headlocks him. X goes for a blue thunder but takes a headlock takeover. They then stand off. Sho hits a hard forearm and euro. Sho running euros him. Sho karelin's lifts him.

X knocks over Sho then double stomps him. Sho ankle locks him. Sho boots him out of the corner then X death valley drivers him for 2. Sho trips him into an ankle lock. X then taps out.

Thoughts: It was average but still better than the usual Xyon offerings. I thought they could have shaved a few minutes off of this one which would have helped it.

Champion Carnival 2025 Block A Match - Davey Boy Smith Jr. vs. Kengo Mashimo

They lock up then Davey poses. Davey side headlocks him then he shoulders him over. Davey slams him for 2. Ken hammerlocks him. They trade forearms. Davey knees him in the gut and Ken slides out. Davey is pulled out. Ken hits shots on him and Davey sends him into the rails. Davey stomps him.

They go back in. Davey hits some shots then boots him in the gut. Davey suplexes him for 2. Davey does a chinlock. Davey then dropkicks him. Davey legdrops him twice for 1.

Thoughts:
It wasn't that good as expected. There weren't a lot of exciting moments and the finish was a bit random.

Champion Carnival 2025 Block A Match - Kuma Arashi vs. Jun Saito

Kuma does his yell to start things. They lock up. Kuma backs him up on the ropes and cleanbreaks. Kuma side headlocks him. They shoulder battle then Jun shoulders him over. They go outside and Kuma is sent into the rails. Jun misses a running boot against the post. Kuma then bangs Jun's head off the post.

Thoughts: It was a solid heavyweight match here. They didn't go all out but we got a bunch of strikes, slams and lariats. Kuma was definitely one of Jun's better opponents so far and I'd like to see this again on a bigger star. I doubt we will though.

Champion Carnival 2025 Block A Match - Takashi Yoshida vs. Kento Miyahara

The crowd chants for Ken and Yoshida tries to get them to chant for him. They lock up and Yoshida clean breaks him. Yoshida offers a handshake then hits Ken in the throat. Yoshida rakes his eyes on the ropes then Ken facekicks him. They go out and Ken headbutts him out there multiple times.

Ken back body drops him. They trade forearms for chops. Yoshida hits shots to the throat then does a double throat thrust. Yoshida enzugiri's him.

Yoshida running lariats him for 2. Ken ducks a shot. Ken pumping knees him then hits a straightjacket german for the win.

Thoughts:
It was what you would expect with Yoshida relying on his cheap heel offense as usual and Ken hitting a lot of headbutts and his usual offense. It wasn't that good as expected and Ken didn't do a great job of making Yoshida look good here. I didn't really buy that Yoshida was going for the win in this one.

Champion Carnival 2025 Block B Match - Hokuto Omori vs. Madoka Kikuta

They lock up and Omori blows a kiss on the break. Omori ties to do it again and gets grabbed. MK then shoulders him over. MK rakes his face with his feet on the ropes. Omori hides under the ring then dropkicks MK in the back of the knee when he gets back in. Yoshida gets some cheapshots in on MK outside while the ref is distracted.

MK misses a charge into the rails. Omori puts MK's face in Kuma's butt then Yoshida kancho's MK in the butt. Omori stands on MK's back then punches him in the butt.

They trade chops. Omori eye rakes and back elbows him. Omori then backdrops him for 2. MK leg lariats him out of the corner then hits chops. MK double chops him then slams him. MK legdrops him for 2. MK diving hip attacks Omori's buddies off the apron.

Omori rolls MK up for 2. MK spinning lariats him. Omori counters a hip attack with an atomic drop then dragon suplexes him. Omori brainbusters him for 2. Omori comes off the top and lands on MK's knees. MK hip attacks Omori twice for 2. MK spinning lariats him and wins.

Thoughts: It wasn't super serious here with heels attacking MK's butt. It was something different though. It was just an average match here and MK won as expected.

Champion Carnival 2025 Block B Match - Yuma Aoyagi vs. Rei Saito

Yuma brings beer out. Rei shoves him on the lock-up. They shoulder battle. Rei is pulled over the top then dropkicked off the apron. They go into the crowd and Yuma chokes him with a towel. Rei then chokes him with the towel. Rei chops him in the crowd then hits him in the gut while he's seated.

Yuma running lariats him for 2. Rei lariats him for 2. Rei blocks a sunset flip and hits a hard headbutt. Rei powerbombs Yuma for the win.

Thoughts: There was some decent big man vs smaller man stuff here but it wasn't the most serious match. They wasted some time outside early on which didn't add much. I felt like they got what this was supposed to be though after they go in. I just wish it was more serious as it would have been really good if it was.

Champion Carnival 2025 Block B Match - Ren Ayabe vs. Yuma Anzai

Yuma wristlocks him then Ren reverses it. Ren cleanbreaks him on the ropes. They shoulder battle. They trade forearms. Yuma dropkicks him. Ren slams him. They forearm each other and Ren facekicks him for 2. Ren chinlocks him. Yuma sits on the top rope and Ren dropkicks him down. Ren bangs Yuma's head off the apron.

Yuma germans him then hits a flying knee. Ren suplexes him. They trade forearms. Yuma double underhook suplexes him then flying knees him from behind for 2. Ren dropkicks him. They fight on the buckles and Ren 2nd rope superplexes him for 2.

Ren release dragon suplexes him and Yuma rolls him up for 2. Yuma flying knees him for 2. Yuma hits forearms then Ren dropkicks him. Ren full-nelson slams him for 2. Yuma dives at him with a knee and they trade forearms. Yuma germans him for 2. Yuma hits a botched gimlet on Ren and wins.

Thoughts:
It got a lot of time. It was a decent main and they tried to have a good main, but there was nothing too memorable about this one. Ren just does not bring anything to the table but being tall and being able to execute moves clean and that limits everything. Any kind of spirit or basic heel work from Ren would have helped this so much but he just wasn't up to it.

Yuma then talks on the mic after.

Overall thoughts: The opener was okay. Ashino/Xyon was average. Kuma/Jun was one of Jun's best matches yet. Yoshida/Kento wasn't good and was what you would expect. Omori/Kikuta was different but not super serious. Yuma/Rei also wasn't super serious but they did kind of get what they were supposed to do so it was okay. They main was decent enough but Ren just has nothing going on besides being able to not botch stuff and it wasn't great. I'd give it a 6 out of 10 overall and say it was a little above average.

All Japan Pro Wrestling 4/23/2025 Champion Carnival 2025 Day 6

All Japan Pro Wrestling 4/23/2025 Champion Carnival 2025 Day 6

Day 5 is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2025/04/all-japan-pro-wrestling-4202025.html

Champion Carnival 2025 Block A Match - Takashi Yoshida vs. Xyon

Why would you open a show up with the two worst wrestlers on it?

They lock up and break on the ropes. Xyon side headlocks him. Xyon shoulders him over. TY hits him in the throat. Xyon shoulders him over then sends him into the rails outside. Xyon goes up top but TY rolls away.

TY then falls down and kicks him in the crotch. TY hits shots to the throat and enzugiri's him. Xyon flying shoulders him twice and wins.

Thoughts:
Atleast it was kept shot. It wasn't too much of note here and they really just stuck to simple strikes and brawling.

Champion Carnival 2025 Block A Match - Kengo Mashimo vs. Shotaro Ashino

They trade forearms. Sho trips him then germans him. Sho goes for an ankle lock. Ken tries to PK him from the apron but Sho catches his foot and ankle locks him. Sho is sent into the rails then Ken facekicks him. Ken chest kicks him against the rails.

Sho ankle locks him then hits a suplex out of it. Ken knees him in the face then is lariated and backdropped for 2. Sho germans him for 2. Ken pulls back on both of his arms while on his back and taps him out.

Thoughts: It was a shorter match with a decent bit of action. They abbreviated Ken's work the arm match here and I would say it was for the better. Sho also got some ankle work in before going down. I liked it.

Champion Carnival 2025 Block B Match - Ryuki Honda vs. Ren Ayabe

Honda wristlocks him then Ren side headlock takeovers him. They trade forearms and Ren shoulders him over. Honda is sent into the rails but he bounces off and shoulders Ren over. Honda hammerlocks him around the rail. Honda boots the rail into his arm. Ren is sent into the rail then facekicks him over.

Honda is sent into the rails. Honda grabs the arm and Ren knees him in the gut. Ren flying neckbreakers him then corner facekicks him for 2. Ren tries his hammerlock + dragon sleeper but Honda ropebreaks. Honda suplexes him. Honda hits a corner lariat then corner spears him for 2.

Honda is put on the top buckle and Ren dropkicks him down. They trade forearms on the apron. Honda germans him on the apron. Honda and Ren hit corner attacks. Ren facekicks him. Honda hits a big lariat. Ren suplexes him.

They forearm each other. Honda armbars him then turns it into a crossface. Honda hits a big lariat then hits another for 2. Ren dropkicks him then full-nelson slams him for 2. Honda lariats him. Ren facekicks him. Ren hits a dragon suplex then Honda germans him. Ren dragon suplexes him for 2. Ren hits a spinning falcon arrow and wins.

Thoughts: It was a moves based match. But since there weren't any faces or heels here, maybe that was for the best. What we got was fine with the two trading high impact moves. It was one of Ren's better matches of the tournament so far and I liked this.

Champion Carnival 2025 Block B Match - Madoka Kikuta vs. Yuma Anzai

One could say this is kind of a mini-dream match as it's two top guys from DG and AJPW going at it. I don't know anyone who dreamed of it though.

They trade forearms for chops. MK double chops him then Yuma dropkicks him. They trade shots outside. MK is sent into the rails. They trade more forearms outside. Yuma is sent into the rails but does a springboard forearm off of them.

They go back inside and trade forearms for chops. Yuma hits forearms in the corner. MK leg lariats him. MK is pulled over the top then MK flying knees him off the apron. MK hip attacks him against the rail.

MK boots him in the corner when they get back in. He running hip attacks him there. MK stands on his face then running hip attacks him for 2. MK hits chops. Yuma 2nd rope dropkicks him. Yuma flying forearms him in the corner then belly to belly suplexes him for 2.

MK hits chops then Yuma dropkicks him. They trade forearms and headbutts. MK pump kicks him then they slap each other at the same time. Yuma flying knees him then MK flying hip attacks him. Yuma germans him and MK spinning lariats him.

Yuma dragon suplexes him and flying knees him. Yuma germans him for 2. MK hip attacks him from behind and then into the face. He lariats him for 2. He then running lariats him for 2. MK running larits him and wins.

Thoughts: It a good match as expected. It was all flying knees, lariats and hip attacks. MK did his usual stuff and Yuma matched up well against him. I was surprised to see MK get the win here.

Champion Carnival 2025 Block B Match - Mike D Vecchio vs. Yuma Aoyagi

They compete for cheers to start. Mike clean breaks him and taunts him. Yuma then flying headscissors him and taunts him. They wristlock each other. Mike seated flips off the ropes to escape then armdrags him out. Mike facekicks him off the apron then topes him.

Mike double jump springboards and is caught with a neckbreaker. Yuma then running lariats him. Yuma brainbusters him. Mike is supposed to kick out but doesn't and the ref only counts 2. Yuma hits another brainbuster and pins him.

Thoughts: The finished got messed up here which is a shame since this well otherwise. Yuma hitting a 2nd brainbuster when Mike didn't kick out was not very smart as if he was hurt, he probably just made it worse. I did like the match though other than that as Mike got to do his flying without overdoing it and Yuma did some different stuff than usual like a running lariat.

Yuma talk on the mic after.

Champion Carnival 2025 Block A Match - Davey Boy Smith Jr. vs. Kento Miyahara

They lock up and go to the ropes. Davey side headlocks him then headlock takeovers him. Ken headscisssors him. Davey gets out and poses. Davey armlocks him, Ken trips him and toe locks him. Thoughts:
It was the usual generic Davey match. It was okay but Davey doesn't have a lot of personality or spirit and his big singles matches all tend to be the same. They are suitable but they are nothing you'd ever rewatch or go out of your way to see.

Davey gets on the mic after. He says he plans to win the Champion Carnival. Davey then wants to do the I love Zen Nippon chant.

Champion Carnival 2025 Block A Match - Hideki Suzuki vs. Jun Saito

Putting this in the semi main is a bold move. They grapple and Jun gets his back then front facelocks him. HS ropebreaks then side headlocks him. HS headlock takeovers him. Jun backdrops him. Jun knocks him off the apron. HS pulls him out and sends him into the rail and post. They trade shots outside. They go back in and HS does foot slaps and weak kicks to the chest.

HS knees him in the chest then Jun slams him. Jun boots and foot chokes him in the corner. Jun slams and elbow drops him for 2. Jun stands on his gut. Jun hits a corner facekick then suplexes him for 2. HS hanging headscissors him.

HS switches to the sleeper and then just pins him.

Thoughts:
The finish was out of nowhere here and was weak. It wasn't that good as expected. HS mostly bullied around Jun here and there weren't any real highspots or big moments in this. I was surprised Jun lost.

HS talks on the mic after and grabs him by the hair while he's outside.

Aigle Blanc, Hokuto Omori, Kuma Arashi, MUSASHI & Ryo Inoue vs. Atsuki Aoyagi, Dan Tamura, Rei Saito, Rising HAYATO & Taishin Nagao

Kuma's whole team is dressed up like female maids. Dan is dressed like a samurai and 3 of Rei's partners are dressed up like women as well.

The fight goes outside to start and they go into the stands. Rei is eyepoked by Kuma in the stands. Kuma's team holds Rei's team. Kuma tries to charge into Rei's team but nails his own partner. Rising and AA jumps off the entrance way in the stands onto opponents.

Rei foot chokes Omori. He teases chopping him. Musasahi interrupts and Rei rips his maid costume down, showing a bra. Rei and the announcers find it hilarious. Rei shoulders him over for 2. Dan slams Omori for 2. Omori flatliners Dan.

Musashi double stomps his back and basement dropkicks him. Nagao takes corner attacks from his opponents. He is then slammed and avoids a top rope splash. Nagao dropkicks Omori and Kuma. Nagao then suplexes Kuma in a surprising moment.

Musashi takes corner attacks then AA standing moonsaults him for 2. Blanc hits a spanish fly on AA. Everyone starts coming to hit a move. Rising is then superplexed off the 2nd rope onto his partners. Musasahi hits exploders on AA. AA corkscrew kicks him then Musasahi falcon arrows him. Musashi germans him for 2. Musashi hits a top rope splash on AA for 2.

Musashi hits a big chop then Rising single lef dropkicks Musashi. AA handspring cartwheel kicks Musashi and Musashi hits a double ddt. AA hits a top rope 450 on Musashi and wins.

Thoughts: Okay, let me ask the obvious - why was everyone dressed like a girl here? Who thought of that? Why is it such a problem for wrestlers not to dress like women in 2025? I thought it was a stupid match since it was clearly not serious yet they had a full match with kickouts and nearfalls. This was embarrassing.

AA then talks on the mic to close the show.

Overall thoughts: They kept the first two matches shorter which helped them. Ren/Honda was fine, Kikuta/Yuma was good and Mike/Aoyagi had a good match minus the finish. Davey/Kento was generic but okay and Junk/Hideki wasn't good. Everyone decided to dress up like women in the main and that did nothing for me. I'd give this a 7 out of 10 but the main and semi main brought this down. I did like it overall but it was a bit long at over 3 hours.

All Japan Pro Wrestling 4/20/2025 Champion Carnival 2025 Day 5

All Japan Pro Wrestling 4/20/2025 Champion Carnival 2025 Day 5

Thoughts:
They goofed around early and it wasn't that serious but once they stopped goofing around it got a little better. I don't know who is behind this push to make Yuma a comedy guy, but I don't like it at all. This could have been really good if it was serious.

Champion Carnival 2025 Block B Match - Aigle Blanc vs. Hokuto Omori

Omori backs him up on the ropes and blows a kiss. AB is confused. Omori clubs on him and tries to take the mask off. AB splits his fingers and upkicks him. AB headscissors drops him. They go outside and AB is sent into the post.

Omori rolls him up then cradles him for 2. Omori spinning forearms him then AB does a tombstone. AB does a last falconry and wins. AB loses his mask during his finisher

Thoughts: It wasn't that good. They didn't get off to a hot start, they had a slower pace and it was neither guys best work.

Blanc does a promo after. He says it's the first time in 10 years he lost his mask after his finisher. He says it was worth it as he won and says he gets more confidentevery time he wins.

X misses a top rope diving headbutt. Ken pulls back on both of the arms and taps him out.

Thoughts: It was the usual not very good Xyon match. He's not athletic at all, he doesn't move well and he's not exciting. Ken isn't that much better and it was a pretty lame match as expected.

Xyon says he has no excuse and Ken deserved the win. Xyon says Ken targeted his weakness. Xyon says he has so many regrets but will take what he learned into the next round. He says not to give up on him.

Champion Carnival 2025 Block A Match - Takashi Yoshida vs. Kuma Arashi

Kuma back body drops him then TY does it back to him. They lariat battle then Kuma crossbodies him for 2. Kuma sitout dominators him for 2. Kuma hits a top rope senton and wins.

Thoughts: This wasn't good. It was very slow and TY did nothing but various shots to the throat and nose. This was straight out of 1970 and totally dragged.

They then hug and walk out with Omori together.

Rising takes a double back elbow then Sho turns on Ken for some reason and germans him.

Davey is cradled by Dan for 2. Davey hits a double clothesline. Davey sitout powerbombs Dan and wins.

Thoughts: It wasn't good. They did weak brawling outside and we had partners attacking partners here for no real reason. No one put that much effort into this and it was hard to get everyone in with how many people were involved.

Sho tries to suplex Davey after for some reason. Davey and Jun stares down. Jun talks on the mic to Suzuki after.

Davey says he has his eyes on Ashino and says he knows all about his tactics and tricks. He says when he gets through with him, Kento is next. He said Ken was victorious last year but this year is different.

Champion Carnival 2025 Block B Match - Ren Ayabe vs. Rei Saito

Ren hits another dropkick for 2. Ren does a very poor armlock + dragon sleeper combo and wins.

Thoughts: It showed some signs of maybe being okay near the end but it just wasn't that good. They botched one of their big spots early. It had a slow pace and they couldn't get either guy to show any real personality here. I didn't like this at all.

Champion Carnival 2025 Block B Match - Ryuki Honda vs. Yuma Anzai

They lock up and back each other up on the ropes. Honda side headlock takeovers him, gets headscissored and they stand off. They trade forearms. They shoulder each other and Yuma dropkicks him. They trade forearms in the seats.

Honda running one arm powerbombs him and wins.

Thoughts: I was surprised to see Honda win here. It got more action packed in the second half after a boring first half but that action also came with a bunch of no selling that wasn't good. It wasn't a well thought out match and it's clear to me that they realized in the 2nd half that what they were doing wasn't working, so they cranked up the gas. It was about average overall and should have been better than it was.

Honda then does his dance after.

Overall thoughts: It wasn't a good night at the CC here. The field just isn't good and since it was a smaller show, there wasn't a lot off trying outside of the main event. I'd only give this one a 4 out of 10 and wouldn't recommend it.

WWE Monday Night Raw 4/28/2025

WWE Monday Night Raw 4/28/2025

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2025/04/wwe-monday-night-raw-4212025.html

Next week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2025/05/wwe-monday-night-raw-552025.html

We are in Kansas City, MO. Pat McAfee and Michael Cole are on commentary.

We see various wrestlers arrive. Gunther has been fined and suspended indefinitely.

We see clips from last week's Raw.

Seth Rollins, Bron Breakker and Paul Heyman come out. Bron is wearing a suit and looks silly in it. Seth has stupid sunglasses with eyes on them. Seth does his usual lines and says we are looking at the winner of Wrestlemania. He says we are looking at the future of our industry runs through Bron and him.

Sami Zayn comes out. Seth asks if he saw Mania and Sami says very good. Sami says his new group is a load of crap. Sami asks how he's any different than Roman? Seth says how can this not be different? Sami said he thought Seth had this deep hatred for Punk but says maybe he's just jealous. Seth says this is the vision for the future.

Sami says it's hypocritical. He says Seth talked about Bloodline and Sami says this is like The Bloodline. He says Bron is Seth's little dog and says he will get his face kciked in if he keeps looking at him like that. Seth says this is the vision for the future and you are either with them or become a target. Seth says this thing is bigger than them.

Seth says they can pull strings and get Sami moved off of Raw. Seth says Sami won't buy in so maybe they can cash him out. Seth says it's not a threat but an offer and a favor. Seth tells him to think about it but they will need an answer by the end of the night.

Seth goes to leave and Bron stares down Sami.

Rhea Ripley vs Roxanne Perez

I guess RP is done with NXT now? RP has new pink dye in her hair. RP rolls out of a lock-up and goes out. RP comes back in and does it again. RP then throws Rhea's gear at her and clips her. RP boots her. Rhea is knocked into the buckles. Rhea boots her out of the corner. RP rolls up Rhea and hits kicks to the leg.

RP dropkicks her out. RR catches RP's tope and slams her into the rails. RP is dropped throat first on the rails. RR knocks RP off the apron. RP bangs RR's leg off the post. RR blocks a russian legsweep then lariats her. RP boots her out of the corner.

RR catches RP's crossbody then suplexes her. RR hits a nice dropkick and RP goes out. We go break and return. RP does an indian deathlock variation. RR boots her away and upkicks her from the apron. RR hits short arm clotheslines and hits a razor's edge. RR sliding dropkicks her for 2.

RR clubs on her and Giulia comes down. RP cradles her and does a spike hurricanrana. RP does Meiko Satomura's cartwheel double knee drop on RR's neck. RR knees her in the face. RR headbutts her. Giulia clips Rhea and causes the DQ.

Thoughts:
We had a "work the limb" match but it ended via DQ and made a lot of that go to waste. What we got was fine but it would have been nice to get a clean finish.

Giulia and RP beat up on Rhea after. Iyo Sky comes down for the save. She rolls Giulia into a double stomp. Iyo goes to springboard and Giulia trips her up.

The Judgment Day talk in the back. Finn says JD didn't tell him he was returning and he isn't cool with it. Liv asks why they aren't getting ready for their match. Finn asks what match? JD says they have a match with The War Raiders. Finn asks if they can please keep him in the loop around here. Carlito says it looks like everyone will be a champ.

Logan Paul is in the ring. He says the fans don't know greatness when it stands in front of them. He says the people are so stupid. He brings up Jey Uso and said he did everything but win a world title. He tells Jey to consider his days numbered.

Jey Uso comes out. He calls Logan a punk @ss youtuber. He says Gunther beating up Jimmy lit a fire in him that won't go out. Jey tells him that if he wants the title, come and take it. He then says "yeet". Logan says he sounds stupid and said he did more in 4 years than Jey did in 15. He says he will take his title and says Jey will do what he does best - crash out, screw up and lose the title in less time than he held the IC Title. He tells him to enjoy it while he still can and gets superkicked.

The War Raiders (Erik and Ivar) vs The Judgment Day (Finn Balor and JD McDonaugh)

The New Day are on commentary. Ivar knocks over JD. JD hits Ivar from behind then boots him in the corner. Finn pounds on Ivar in the corner. Ivar hits a nice back body drop on JD. Erik overhead throws Finn then dropkicks JD. Erik knees JD in the chest and throws him out.

The Raiders do stereo slams on the heels. Ivar slams JD then Erik slams Ivar onto JD. Ivar misses a crossbody against the side of the ring and goes into it. We go to break and return.

JD hits corner punches on Erik. Erik hits a big forearm. Ivar comes in and shoulders over then sideslams Finn. Ivar splashes Finn. Ivar butt drops Finn in the corner then spinning heel kicks JD.

Ivar does a bronco buster in the corner. Ivar misses a top rope moonsault. Ivar is pulled over the top. JD asai moonsaults The Raiders outside. JD top rope moonsaults Ivar for 2. Ivar does a handspring double back elbow. Finn and JD are darted into each other outside. The New Day talk trash at commentary. Ivar throws Finn into them and splashes them.

Carlito gets involved and JD jawbreakers Erik. JD goes up top and Penta pushes JD off the top. JD takes a war machine and is pinned.

Thoughts: I liked it. The small guys bumped and the big guys did their big guy stuff. They also got Penta and New Day involved here to build up those feuds.

Penta struts on the commentary table after.

Otis, Sami Zayn and Paul Heyman are in the back. Paul asks Otis to leave. Paul says he thought about what Sami said. Paul says him and Sami are OG Bloodline. Sami said Paul blew up whatever was left of it. Paul says he respected Sami's reason for breaking away from Bloodline and said maybe someday Sami will respect him doing what he had to do. Paul says Bron is demanding a match with Sami and Seth and him can't say no to it. Paul says Bron is the key to their plans.

Paul says Seth offers Sami a pass if he accepts being traded to Smackdown. Paul says Sami can face the winner of Cena/Orton if he goes to SD. Paul tells him to think of the future. He says Sami can live in the future or die with the past. Paul then looks at Bron at the door.

Becky Lynch heads to the ring. We go to break and return. Becky enters the ring. BL says Bayley was taken out of her Mania match and says she did it. She says Bay has attacked her since 2019 and never apologized. She says Bay forgot what this business is. She says Bay complains about not being a bigger star and Becky says she got to see what was one like when she walked down the ramp at Mania. She says an enemy of an enemy is a friend but says the reverse is true.

BL says she had high hopes for Lyra but she was hanging with Bayley. She said she tried to get Bayley to ditch her. She says it's too late and Lyra is already a loser.

Lyra Valkyria comes out. Lyra asks if she knows how many women warned her about Becky. She says Bayley was one of the first. She says she was too caught up in the dream of Irish tag champs at Mania and said she had high hopes for her. She says she knows what Becky is. She says she's about to make her pay. Becky slides out. Lyra asks if she's thinking about the last time she fought when she beat her and took the NXT Title. Becky says she only fights when it matters and that's not in Kansas City.

Lyra challenges her for Backlash and says it can be for the title. She says she will make the title matter like she did Lyra. Lyra says she doesn't want to be the next Becky Lynch. She says she will be a better person than her and says she's a better wrestler than her. Becky yells at her and is dropkicked through the ropes. Lyra hits mounted shots one her. Becky then runs.

Lyra poses on the stage and Becky hits her from behind.

Thoughts: It was the most personality Lyra has gotten to show on the main roster, so this was a win.

Nick Aldis and Penta talk in the back. Nick says he won't fine Penta tonight and says he is making JD McDonaugh vs Penta next week.

Chad Gable and Ivy Nile comes in. Chad says look at Penta now - losing at Mania. He says it's not zero meido but zero comebacks. He said his favorite moment of Mania was watching his brother Rey Fenix lose at Mania. Penta then kicks him and talks in mix of English and Spanish.

We get a Rusev video. He said he had it all - the gold, the fame and a tank at Mania. He said he lost himself in the abyss. He said he healed himself in the abyss. He said he realized he won't fight for a flag that wasn't his or a flag that that never was. He says he's finally free to crush people. He says the lack of suffering ends now. He says she hunt and fix like he fixed himself. He says there will be no hardship and loss.

Stephanie Vaquer vs Ivy Nile

Ivy takes her down for 2 then rides her on the front facelock. SV takes her down and bridges her. Ivy side headlocks her then shoulders her over. SV shoulders her over. Ivy flying headscissors her then headscissors her into a pin attempt for 2.

SV suplexes her. Ivy pulls SV's arms back. SV flips out of it and bangs her head off the mat with a headscissors. We go to break and return. SV bangs Ivy's head off the mat with a headscissors again. SV corner meteora's her for 2. Chad puts Ivy's foot on the ropes during the pin attempt. SV goes out after Chad. Ivy then germans her on the floor.

Ivy flying kicks her in the corner then germans her for 2. Ivy goes up top and is hit. They go up top. SV hits headbutts. SV superplexes her for 2. They trade shots on their knees then get up. SV kicks her in the gut then Ivy does a pendulum side slam for 2.

Ivy is put on the 2nd rope. SV kicks her in the gut and does a hard dragon screw down. SV hits an SVB and pins her.

Thoughts: It wasn't anything special. I thought this match showed well what SV is - a girl who is an average worker without a ton of logic to her or big skills as a face/heel. Ivy didn't impress but she sadly never really does. The crowd did like SV though.

Aldis talks to AJ in the back. He says if anyone knows how to make a comeback, it's AJ. He says he has a lot of opponents for him. Liv, Dom and Raquel come in. Liv says she needs time off as she's filming a movie. Aldis agrees. Dom says he needs time off because he's champ and can do what he wants. Aldis says when you are champ, your workload doubles. Dom asks if Aldis will talk to AJ about a retirement home. He asks if AJ broke a hip and AJ says he's thinking of breaking something else. AJ says Aldis talked about opportunities and he has an idea.

Thoughts:
This was a dumb segment. Liv gets time off for being champ yet says Dom's workload doubles.

Sami Zayn and Karrion Kross talk in the back. Kross says hopefully Sami makes the right decision tonight.

Cole apologizes for getting Pat in trouble with Gunther last week. He says he has earned the opportunity to give opinions. We then see Gunther attack Pat last week. Pat gets on the commentary table. He says he forgot who he was but is still the dog. He says his dad was a truck driver that went paycheck to paycheck. He says he went from an irrelevant bum to someone who is known by everyone. He says he hopes people say he was a hard worker when he is dead. He brags about donating money and says he hopes people say he was loyal. He says you are with him or against him. He says he will be loyal to Cole and says if someone wants something with Cole, he will protect him.

He said he had no choice but to protect Cole last week. He said his family told him he shouldn't do that to Gunther. He says something that is bleeped out and says if he dies, he dies. He says if you have a problem with Cole, you have a problem with him.

He asks "Smackdown's version of Adam Pearce" to come out. Aldis comes out. He says he's in charge tonight. He asks Pat to keep it professional. He says he wants to fight Gunther asap. Aldis says Pat can fight Gunther 1v1 at Backlash. Pat agrees.

We get a video on Cena and Orton's rivalry.

Sami Zayn talks to Jey Uso in the back. Jey says Sami has big decisions to make. Jey says do what's best for him and says he loves him.

Logan Paul then drops Jey with a shot from the side. Logan says that's karma uce and does a yeet.

Seth Rollins comes out and calls Sami Zayn out. Seth says Sami is putting him in a tough spot. Seth says he doesn't want to see anything bad happen to Sami. Seth says he may not like Bron or Paul, but this is Seth and him. Seth says his new crew is the way forward. Seth says it hurts that Sami doesn't believe in him.

Seth says Sami is one of his true friends and says Sami was one of the first people he called when his daughter was born. He said Sami gave him great advice. Seth asks if he can give Sami advice that will save his life. Seth tells him to take the path and way out. He says bad things will happen to him if he doesn't.

Sami says he thinks Seth is playing and he's good at it. Sami says Seth knows the cards to play as he confided in him. He says the title has always been his goal. Sami asks if Seth has ever known him to run away. He says he won't run while his friend threatens him. He says Seth is threatening him.

Sami says he has been a target 1,000 times before and can't live with being extorted, blackmailed and threatened. Sami says he will become a world champ. He says when he does, it will be because he did it his way - the right way. He says he's telling him as a friend to go to hell.

Bron Breakker then comes out with Paul Heyman.

Thoughts:
As usual, Sami's acting was good here.

Bron Breakker vs Sami Zayn

Bron drives him into the corner and hits corner spears. Bron overhead belly to belly suplexes him. Sami back elbows him then 2nd rope double axe handles him. Sami bangs Bron's head off the buckles. Sami is caught off the 2nd rope with an exploder.

Sami hits chops. Sami jumps up and is spinebustered down for 2. Bron hits knees to the gut. Sami blind springboards over him and lariats him. Bron is thrown over the top. Sami's head is banged off the commentary table. Bron jumps up to the apron then flying lariats him off the commentary table.

We go to break and return. Sami sunset bombs him off the buckles for 2. Sami walks up the buckles and tornado ddt's Bron down for 2. Sami sits on the top and Bron walks up the buckles for a frankensteiner on him. Bron goes for the spear and takes a boot. Bron is explodered into the buckles. Sami runs at him and is speared. Bron hits a flying spear.

Seth tells Sami it doesn't have to be this way and tells him to take the deal. Seth says Sami can still get out. Sami tells him to go to hell. Bron then hits another big spear. Sami rolls out and is checked on by officials. Bron runs around the ring and hits a big spear. The ref then calls this off.

Thoughts:
Well, I didn't expect that ending. It was a decent match as expected with Bron hitting a bunch of good looking spears here. No one lost and a Backlash rematch seems likely.

Seth talks to Bron in the ring. The officials try to help Sami up. Seth says Sami made his bed. Sami then curbstomps Sami into the mat. Seth, Paul and Bron then stand tall to close the show.

Overall thoughts: It was pretty much the Seth and Sami show here with them getting many segments. They made sense and the story works so I didn't have a problem with it. Elsewhere, Giulia and Perez seem to be main roster members now. Lyra showed some personality for a change. Vaquer/Nile got a lot of time but wasn't that good and Logan vs Jey is the next title program. It was a good episode of Raw and I'd give it a 6 out of 10 overall.

WWE LFG 4/27/2025 Episode 11

WWE LFG 4/27/2025 Episode 11

The last episode is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2025/04/wwe-lfg-4272025-episode-10.html

WWE LFG had 2 episodes tonight due to not being on because of Mania last week and this is show #2.

BJ Ray says he's back. He says he doesn't prefer to be on team Bubba but he needs to keep his mouth shut and keep his ears open.

We go to the Performance Center with Shawn Michaels and all the rookies. Shawn says the LFG Playoffs begin and eliminations start next week.

The coaches talk about some of wrestling over the top personalities. Shawn says his was "The Heartbreak Kid". He says when you have an image, you have to live up to it. He then brings out AJ Styles.

AJ talks to the trainees. He says he loves what he does and he's happy to help them get to the next level. AJ says doing flips is not what makes you phenomenal. He then brings up Mr. Perfect and says you realize you have more to grow when you watch him. AJ asks what moniker's and nicknames they will give themselves as they will be judged on it.

Chris says it's his chance to lie up to "The Promise Child". Penina wants to go with "P-Nasty". Leigh tells Booker she wants to be "The Silent Killer". Sirena wants to be "Diablita". Tyra wants to be "The Real Deal". Tatyanna wants to be "The Precedent" and Bubba suggests "The Standard" or "The Gold Standard". Dani says she's "The Shooting Star" and makes her pitch to AJ, who likes it.

Tatyanna says she's "The Gold Standard". Tyra doesn't buy it and says there's nothing about her. She says if anyone is the gold standard, it's herself. Tatyanna says some are hurt by the name and it's their insecurities. Tyra says she's "The Real Deal". She says she won an olympic gold medal and dominated. AJ says she needs to be the real deal when she steps into the ring. Booker doesn't seem to like it and thinks it's disrespectful after what Evander Holyfield did ("The Real Deal" was his nickname). Booker says it's bad coaching and advice from Taker.

Tatyanna says Tyra stole her name from someone else while she came up with her own (forgetting Shelton Benjamin). Booker tells everyone to shut up. Bubba says he sees Elijah's anger and tells him this is his time. Elijah walks up to the table with AJ and the coaches.

We go to break and return. Booker says Holyfield may have another run. Elijah says they are trying to turn the wrestlers against each other. Elijah says he's "The Holyfield Warrior". He says he loves to fight and says he will conquer everything in his path. He says he will inflict pain and win championships. AJ says the war isn't always in the ring but is in the head. Taker says he's impressed Elijah seized the moment. Bubba says Elijah showed more personality than he ever has and Booker tried to take the credit.

Zena gives Bubba her gum. Bubba says she's his shining star and she wants to remind her that he held her gum. She talks about oxymoron's. She says she's 11 weeks in and says she's the oxy and you are the moron's. AJ asks why she assumed she's the moron.

BJ Ray takes Mickie's water as it's the closest thing he can get to a kiss. He says he's a west coast gangster and there's years where his dad barely made $500,000. AJ says this is perfect and says nobody likes him.

Drake Morreaux says he's "The Bayou Boy" and says Bubba is making him jump into the character. Shiloh Hell says he's "The Hellraiser". He says to sleep on him and see if you like where you are at when you wake up. Jasper is "The Reaper" and says to embrace the darkness. AJ asks if he's like Taker.

Chris says he's 22 and still a kid, but a kid who isn't afraid to stand up to the monsters and looks at Jasper. He says he's "The Promise Child". Jasper says she was looking for a grown man and not a little boy. He asks Chris is always gonna be a boy and treated like one.

"The Oxymoron" Zena Sterling and "The Gold Standard" Tatyanna Dumas vs "The Shooting Star" Dani Sekelsky and "La Diablita" Sirena Linton

This is not in front of a real crowd.

We go to break and return as it is about to start. Zena and Dani lock up and go to the mat. Zena side headlocks her then shoulders her over. Zena shoulders her over and rolls over her back into a backslide. Zena shoulders her over. Dani tries a hiptoss but is hiptossed. Dani back elbows her out of the corner and 2nd rope crossbodies her for 2.

Zena slams her. SL gets in. Zena side headlocks her Tat gets in and wristlocks SL. SL kips up then wristlocks her. Tat takes a doubler back elbow and Dani splashes her. Dani tope wristlocks her then Tat slams her. Tat shoulders her over. Tat misses a corner splash. Dani corner splashes her. SL handspring back elbows Tat.

SL hits corner spears then does a pendulum bronco buster. SL then backflips out. Dani chin and armlocks Tat. Tat rolls her up. Dani shoulders her over. Zena comes in and cleans house. Zena back splashes SL then gutwrench slams her for the win.

Thoughts: Sirena had a decent showing here and Zena looked good as she has been looking. I'm still not really seeing anything out of Tatyanna and it's not like she's that good looking or charismatic to make up for it. Dani didn't get to do much here.

The coaches and AJ talk after. AJ says her nickname fit. AJ says he didn't see anything devilish in Sirena but she did good. AJ says Dani didn't get to do much flying even though it was her nickname. Booker says Zena is excelling but needs to know how to get others over. Bubba says we need to see more from Tatyanna and says she does nothing to stand out.

Tatyanna says she needs to deliver up to her name and says she made a lot of mistakes.

"The West Coast Gangster" BJ Ray and "The Bayou Boy" Drake Morreaux vs Anthony "Showtime" Luke and "The Reaper" Jasper Troy

BJ dances to Drake's music then Drake spanks him with his stick. Troy wore a chain out which is new.

Luke and BJ lock up. We go to break and return. BJ backs him up in the corner and is headlocked. Luke slams him then elbow drops him. BJ waistlock takedowns him then slams him. BJ double leg slams him.

Luke takes a double knee to the gut. Drake works Luke's arm then Luke sleepers him. Troy hits Drake in the gut in the corner and Booker says to put Troy on the main roster. Drake takes down Troy then hits mounted shots. Drake swings BJ into his opponents. Troy catches BJ's crossbody and BJ takes a flying kick + spinning slam for 2.

BJ hits knees to Luke's gut then Luke spinebusters BJ. Troy side slams BJ for 2. Troy chokes BJ in the corner. Luke back elbows BJ for 2. Troy bearhugs BJ and rams him into the corner. Troy hits corner spears. Troy misses a corner charge and goes into the post.

Drake and Luke get in. Drake hits fast shots on Luke and slams him. Drake atomic drops Luke then mocks him and hits punches. Drake lariats him for 2. BJ is lifted into a kick on Troy. Troy then takes a double facebuster.

Drake chokeslams Luke and pins him.

Thoughts: Now this is what I've wanted to see LFG be about. BJ and Drake were a real fun team here and both showed some personality. Troy was the monster as usual and Luke did his part. This was a television worthy match was a lot of fun. This was good.

BJ dances with Drake after.

Bubba says that's the most entertaining match all season. The coaches then rate the match. Bubba says it was entertaining and exciting. AJ says if BJ acts small, he look small. BJ says he didn't want to come across as a heel. Mickie says she loves The Bayou Boy. Booker says Luke did a good job but could have done better. Taker tells Luke not to be entertaining. Booker puts over Troy. AJ says he liked it and BJ says he sold hard for him. Taker says Troy felt genuine. Troy says he tried to prove himself to Taker.

Penina wants to do a signing prayer in the back.

"The Detanator" Tyra Mae Steele and "The Bone Collector" Bayley Humphrey vs "P-Nasty" Penina Tuilaepa and Leigh Laurel

This starts after a break. Tyra and LL go at it. LL wristlocks her. LL trips her and armbars her. LL top wristlocks her. Tyra reverses it and fireman's carry takevoers her. Tyra trips her from behind and front facelocks her. Tyra double underhook suplexes her. Bay side headlocks LL.

PT gets in. They lock up and try to overpower the other. Bay side headlocks her. Bay hits shots to the gut and rams her into the corner. Bay clubs PT. PT wristlocks her and tags out. Bay bearhugs LL. LL hits mounted forearms on Bay.

Tyra hits shots on LL's gut. Tyra does a dangerous looking gutwrench suplex. PT comes in and hits lariats on Tyra. PT hits shots on Bay. PT samoan drops Tyra and pins her.

Thoughts: It wasn't bad. LL showed a little more spirit than usual but got nothing in. I would have liked to have seen a bit more of PT and Bay going at it here. Tyra had nice amateur wrestling.

AJ tells PT to be P-Nasty. Taker says PT has rage but it needs to get out of her. Taker says it was a shot at Booker. PT says they only had limited time. Mickie says LL brought her A-game and it showed. Booker says Tyra did a great job. Booker tries to get Bay to pose while she does a side headlock. He says he wishes Bay was under his wing.

Bay says you gotta remember who you are and says they are built different.

"The Hellraiser" Shiloh Hill and "The Holyfield Warrior" Elijah Holyfield vs "The Promised Child" Chris Island and "The Superhuman Superstar" Troy Yearwood

Mickie dances during Troy's and Chris' entrance which was something.

Chris and Eli go at it. Eli side headlocks him. Troy yanks on Eli's arm and wristlocks him. Troy wristlocks Eli and is hit in the gut. Eli says "don't touch my arm again". Troy shoulders throws Hill.

Chris flying shoulders Hill for 2 then armlocks him. Eli hits Chris from behind then Chris does a nice sell for a gut punch. Chris takes a double suplex for 2. Hill chinlocks Chris. Hill gutwrench suplexes Chris for 2. Eli hits a big gut punch on Chris. Eli talks trash then chinlocks him. Bubba doesn't like it.

Eli takes a back body drop. Troy is tagged in. Troy hits forearms on Hill then a big dropkick. Troy powerslams Hill then standing moonsaults him for te win.

Thoughts
: It was another solid match. Eli's got good punches and can protect them and Troy just has insane athleticism.

Taker asks if they feel like they showed their moniker. Hill says they did and Taker says that's a problem. Taker says Troy shined and tells him to thank them all. Taker says they didn't showcase their monikers and says Hill sold the whole match. Hill said everyone wrestled well but they could have communicated the monikers better. AJ says he was expecting more. AJ says they will get there but nobody did a good job showing their monikers.

The coaches then award points. Booker says everyone is on the right track. Mickie said they put on good matches but this was about monikers. Taker says everyone is getting better. Bubba asks if anyone didn't understand the assignment.

We go to break. Next week has another back to back episode (boo). Hill bites Elijah's ear. We return from break. AJ says he liked Bayou Boy and Reaper but says Troy gets the point. AJ says the Sirena and Zena did a good job. AJ says Zena did a good job. Sirena says she's picking things up quick.

The Standings are now:

Team Undertaker - 7 points

Team Booker - 6 points

Team Bubba - 4 points

Team Mickie - 3 points

Next week the eliminations start. Mickie says she doesn't want to cut any of her team. Bubba says to get over or get out. BJ says he's ready to cut the fat out. Drake tells everyone to be scared. Tyra says she won't be going home first. Tatyanna says she's not going home without a fight.

Overall thoughts: A much better episode than the last one. They didn't spend as much time trashing people or purposely ruining their matches and the fake drama was cut out some. We had some good showings from BJ, Drake and Troy here and we had a decent bit of wrestling. I liked this one.

WWE LFG 4/27/2025 Episode 10

WWE LFG 4/27/2025 Episode 10

There was no show last week due to Wrestlemania. The show from 2 weeks ago is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2025/04/wwe-lfg-4132025.html. To make up for the missing show, they are having a second episode on after this.

The next show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2025/04/wwe-lfg-4272025-episode-11.html

Bubba is with BJ Ray and Cutler James at ringside. He says they are responsible for one of the worst matches he has ever seen. Bubba says both were unprofessional. Bubba says they will have a match with each other right now.

BJ Ray vs Cutler James

They have all the lights and stuff on for this but this isn't in front of a real crowd. Bubba shakes his head at BJ's entrance as he has a phone and earpods.

BJ goes for the takedown. James hits shots in the corner and back body drops him. James slams him then side headlock takeovers him. James side headlocks him. BJ hits a punch and bangs James' head off the buckles. BJ clips him then gets on his back for a grounded sleeper.

Bubba is cringing. James back elbows and lariats him. James hits forearms then running lariats him. BJ does like a made in japan variation then hits mounted shots. BJ back elbows him then slams him for 1. James boots him out of the corner hen hits punches. James goes for the slam but BJ gets his back with a sleeper. James then taps out.

Thoughts:
This was a weird worked-worked shoot. It would take me at least 3 paragraphs just to explain this whole thing and I don't think it's worth it. Can we please just have normal matches instead?

Cutler says BJ ran out of gas 30 seconds in. BJ says it was clunky and stiff and he knew it was a sh!tty match. Cutler says being in shape is a huge part of this and says to get out if you can't get through a 5 minute match.

Bubba rips both in the back and asks how they could have such an awful match. Bubba says they hate each other and should show it in the ring. Bubba says they need to just do something and he will force them to do something. He says they will do it again. Bubba says he hopes that match doesn't air on this show. Bubba says the stipulation for the rematch will be that someone goes home. We then see they will do this in front of fans.

We go to break and then return to the Performance Center with Shawn Michaels. Shawn says anything can happen out there and this is about being prepared every step of the way. He says power outages and fights have happened in the stands and this is very real. He says something will go wrong in their match and they will have to figure out how to deal with it. Shawn says they won't know what is going on because they never do.

The coaches talk at ringside. Taker wonders what Shawn means. They say it could get messy and will be a test. Taker says they need to be ready for anything. Bubba wants to throw Drake's name in the hat since he had to be removed from a match. Mickie wants Troy to show something and Booker agrees. Taker says he's scratching his head with Tyra and wants her in there. Booker says he's got Leigh for her. Booker says he went the wrong role with Leigh and says we need to see her as a babyface. Mickie says we should do a mixed tag. Booker says we need Penina, who has something but hasn't brought it out. Bubba says Zena does everything right and is the top girl in this comp. They then bring up Chris Island and Shiloh Hill.

We then go to the arena but there is no live crowd:

Tyra Mae Steele vs Leigh Laurel

They try to lock up and we are told the ring ropes will break. Tyra waistlock takedowns her then gator rolls her. Tyra suplexes her. Tyra takes her down by the leg then elbow drops her. Tyra misses an elbow drop. Leigh dropkicks, facekicks and shoulders her for 2.

The coaches argue. Leigh back elbows her then hiptosses her for 2. Bubba says Leigh doesn't have it. Tyra stun guns her then clubs on her. Leigh is shoved hard into the corner. Tyra hits a bad shot and sends her into the corner again. Leigh is sent into the buckles and the top rope breaks.

We go to commercial break and return. Tyra clubs on her then Leigh cradles her off a suplex attempt. Leigh superkicks her and pump kicks her for 2. Leigh misses a dropkick. Tyra bow and arrows her and taps her out.

Thoughts: They are rookies here, there's no real crowd, the judges trashed them the whole time and while the top rope broke, I do think they knew it was coming (Tyra kept pushing her into it). Leigh looked really green here and missed on a bunch of kicks. The rope breaking limited them more and while maybe it was useful to teach them something, they weren't put in a good position to have a strong match here.

The coaches talk after. Taker says they handled the ring rope breaking well but he says they need to take a step back to get one forward. Booker says they need a lot of work. Tyra says she thought it was better than her tag match and was good for where she is at. Leigh is asked if it was good and she said sure. Bubba says they are taking steps back and not forward. Bubba says Tyra rolled her eyes and Tyra disputes this. Taker wonders if it's him or her going backwards. Leigh says they lost sight of the match and says it was a disappointment.

Drake says he feels confident and says they can make whatever happens work.

Drake Morreaux vs Troy Yearwood

Bubba does Drake's dance. They lock up. Drake hammerlocks him. We are told more time will be added to their match when they plan to end it. Troy hammerlocks him. Drake snapmares him but Troy flips over with him and keeps the hold on.

Troy keeps the hold on. Drake misses an elbow then takes armdrags and a back elbow. Troy misses a corner charge. Drake dropkicks him but is too close. Drake stomps on him. Drake hits a corner lariat then a short arm lariat for 2. Troy totally misses on some punches.

Drake slams him then hits a bottom rope vader bomb. Drak hits shots to the gut. Drke misses a corner charge and Troy drops him with forearms. Troy hits a flying leg lariat. Troy is told their match has 3 more minutes added onto it.

We go to break and return. Drake throws Troy off the top then hits mounted shots. Troy is thrown over the top and the coaches complain. Troy cradles him and is lariated.  Drake's head is banged off the buckles. Troy hits totally missed punches and forearms him down. Troy misses a dropkick and Drake chokeslams him for the win.

Thoughts: Again, like the last match, the judges trashed it the whole time and there was no crowd. There was also the usual limitations like no big moves or spots and so forth. They also had to go long. On paper, this was a face vs face match and without a crowd, that's a bit tough to pull off. This wasn't good and I don't think it was designed to be. They may have even been told to make it bad since they like to work worked matches. Troy did really miss on some punches though.

The coaches talk after. Taker says he's had time added and cut to his matches. Mickie says they survived but it wasn't great. Booker complains about Troy's missed punches and says he should know better. Taker says Drake is big but everything he does looks small. He says he has to work big.

Bubba asks why he threw him over the top. Drake says it was to give him more time. Bubba isn't happy and knew that was the answer. Taker says you don't just fill time (they do that every show in WWE). Taker says you need to use the time to your advantage.

Drake says he understands and he will live and learn. Troy says he has gotten chewed out or gotten someone else chewed out in his last few matches. he says he feels like he's dragging people down.

Shiloh is excited for the unpredictable in his match.

Chris Island and Penina Tuilepa vs Zena Sterling and Shiloh Hill

The power will go out during this. Zena and PT go at it. Zena rolls out of lock-up's. Zena side headlocks her. PT wristlocks her and the powers goes out for a second. Everyone looks around then they go back to the match. Zena side headlocks her. Zena rolls her into a seatbelt pin off a hiptoss.

Hill and Chris go at it. Chris stomps his foot then lariats him. Chris stomps him in the corner. Hill takes him down and pounds on him. Hill backdrops him. The lights go out again. We go to break and return. Zena and PT get in. Zena lariats Chris hard which should be a DQ. PT swings her around by the hair and clubs on her. PT slams her for 2. PT chinlocks her. Zena jawbreakers out. Hill lariats Chris then shoulders him over. Hill hits a corner spear and bulldogs him.

The girls get in but it's hard to tell if there was a tag or not. Zena slams PT for 2. PT hits Zena from behind. PT samoan drops her and wins.

Thoughts: Again, the match was intentionally sabotaged. I don't think the lights going out caused as much of a problem as the rope going out though like earlier. I don't think they did a bad job with this but there should have been a DQ for Zena hitting Chris and not being able to see tags hurt the match.

The coaches talk after. Taker said he had the power go out during his match and said this is the most likely scenario that could happen. Bubba says they did a good job. Taker says Penina can't catch a break as her best night was in the dark. Booker asks why Chris stomped people since he doesn't do it well. He said they did okay otherwise though.

Chris says he should have to go do 1,000 stomps. Hill says he told Chris to do them. Penina says she feels good. Zena says it was one of her favorite matches.

The coaches award points. Booker gives points to Hill and Penina. Mickie chooses Hill and Zena. Taker gives Hill and Zena points. Bubba gives Hill and Zena. Bubba says Zena watched old lucha matches to build her match.

Zena said she started as the most doubted star and says it's more rewarding and meaningful to score points. Mickie questions whether she should have voted for Chris but said Hill was better. Taker says Hill has a nice range.

The standings are:

Team Undertaker - 7 points

Team Bubba and Team Mickie - 3 points

We don't know what points Booker had as the graphic they showed was blank.

BJ says the loser already went home when he rage quit. Cutler says BJ has been a pain since college. BJ says he might as well be brought back as legend in Season 2. Cutler says he's looking forward to send him packing.

Loser Leaves WWE LFG - Cutler James vs BJ Ray

We have an actual crowd for this one and the arena is all lit up.

James gets behind him then double legs him. James rolls him for a pin attempt then gator rolls him. James shoots in and is knee'd. BJ double legs him. James takes him down but BJ gets on top. BJ front facelocks him.

James hits corner spears. Booker says get rid of both of them for 2 weeks. BJ fujiwara armbars him then hammerlocks him. BJ's knee is bleeding. James hits a lariat then forearms him over. James hiptosses him then slams him. James hits a back body drop.

BJ hangs onto the ropes and James clubs on him. BJ shoulders him then rolls him into a crucifix and pins him.

Thoughts: I liked the technical wrestling here but it wasn't quite the heated battle it should have been plus they were going to be able to do various things to really put this over.

Bubba still tries to suggest both get sent home.

We go to break and return. Bubba talks to James and BJ. Bubba says this is his decision only. He said they both had opportunities to impress and now one is going home. Booker says BJ talks a good game but he doesn't back it up, so he'd vote him out. Booker then leaves. Mickie says she was pulling for BJ because he talks well and is charismatic. She says James' weakness is his personality and she wants Cutler to stay. Mickie leaves. Taker says he doesn't know what the stakes have to be for them to bring fire and emotion. He says it's disappointing they didn't walk the walk after all the crap that was talked. He says he doesn't know and leaves.

Bubba says he would have handed them their money back if they came to his school. He says BJ is a headache and a problem. He says entertainment trumps wrestling in WWE. He says BJ stays. Bubba says he will say something he hopes James never hears in his career - best of luck in your future endeavors.

BJ smirks and he apologizes. Bubba says he doesn't buy it. Bubba says BJ is finally starting to realize how serious this is. Bubba says he's the maverick and the Tom Cruise. He says there is something there in him and IT factor. He says no matter how much of a f--k up he is, there's something there. He says a lot of screw-ups made it to the top. he says BJ sinks or swims to the top and he will hold the door open while the rest kick him out.

Thoughts: And this is where this program being a worked-shoot fails. Cutler James is supposedly fired from the show. Yet he's on NXT right now and BJ isn't. Maybe they will come up with some explanation on NXT or the next ep to cover it but it better be a dandy because they just exposed themselves here.

BJ says he will be mouth shut and ears wide open until they say they hate him. He says he will win the competition and ask Bubba for his hug.

Cutler says he needs to do some digging and needs to do something different. He says it has to be big.

Next week's show has Tyra/Tatyanna talking trash about each other.

Overall thoughts: It was a tough watch. Not only was it the usual worked-worked matches here but they took it a step further. Sometimes with wrestling you wonder where it being fake stops and where it being real begins. Here, you wonder where the fakeness being faked stops and where just the fake stuff begins. This show doesn't need a reviewer, it needs a psychologist. I feel like I need to go into the mirror and try to summon Vince Russo by chanting his name three times to understand this one. I didn't like this at all.
