MLW Fusion #119 1/27/2021

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2021/01/mlw-fusion-118-1202021.html

Tonight's main event is the Caribbean Strap Match between Savio Vega and Richard Holliday. We get a promo video for it to open the show.

Contra's hype man said Injustice doesn't have a chance against them. They said Daivari was a weak and broken man until he was rebuilt by Contra. Daivari said something in his native language.

AAA Cruiserweight Title - Laredo Kid (C) vs Zenshi

They slap hands early. They say Lio Rush might want to fight the winner of this one in a double title match. Kid flips out of a wristlock early and Zenshi tries some handstand counter thing and completely missed a dropkick. Zenshi trips Kid, but he moves when Zenshi tries a moonsault. Kid gets twirled around and thrown on his stomach. Zenshi handspring kicks him on the ropes.

Zenshi teases a dive but handstands on the apron and does a swinging kick, then Zenshi does a shooting star press off the apron. Zenshi does some wild slingshot springboard twisting senton. Kid comes back and hits a missile dropkick off the top at 4:30 then does a 2nd rope moonsault to nobody and slams Zenshi on the mat outside. You have to be brave to do that on that hard floor. Kid hits a 450 off the apron onto Zenshi.

Back in and Kid hits a michinoku driver then a bottom rope moonsault, but gets caught with knees on a middle rope moonsault. Someone starts bleeding as the ref puts on gloves. Then Zenshi does a 450 off the top onto Kid and standing shooting star presses him. Zenshi does a big jumping side kick then takes a flipping ddt for 2 (you couldn't pay me a million dollars to take that bump).

Kid goes up top and Zenshi backflip kicks him then snapmares him off the top for 2. They both stand on the top rope and Kid hits a spanish fly from the top and Kid wins it. They did too much here, there wasn't much of a story and they didn't sell enough but there were a lot of cool highlights. This is the most Zenshi has gotten to do for a long time and put him over more than Kid.

Laredo Kid says he is the best cruiserweight in the world and says he will prove to everyone that he is the best in the world. He challenges Lio Rush to a double title match. Contra cut in for a second during this.

Myron Reed did a promo. He said Fatu did this to himself in reference to him attacking him last week. Reed said he doesn't forget and the pain and humiliation has made him a whole new beast. He said Fatu started the evolution of Myron Reed and thanked him for it. He said it is time for war and the next time he sees them 1v1 he will get justice.

For the PWI Rankings this week Alexander Hammerstone is #1 and Jacob Fatu remains MLW Champion.

They showed Serena de la Renta and Tom Lawlor helping the Parks win the tag titles.

We went to a video in Hawaii with Kevin Von Erich and his sons Ross and Marshall. Kevin asked them to dig up some stumps and he said this is hard work but hard work got them here. He said he's been screwed like they are. The sons said they had unfinished business with Tom Lawlor and said they will get the belts back from Los Parks.

LA Park said he was thankful to the new owner of Promociones Dorado for getting them a tag title shot. LA Park Jr. told Violence is Forever to prepare. Hijo de LA Park wished them luck because the winner faces them. LA Park said they will be the most famous family in the world.
Gino Medina said he was here to watch Holliday get cracked by the strap tonight as he is a former partner of his.

They reminded us of the Baklei Brawl next week between Hammerstone and Krugger.

Mads Krugger said Hammerstone is on borrowed time sand this is the type of fight that will live in his nightmares for all eternity.

Tom Lawlor said neither him or anyone on his team had anything to do with ACH's attack last week. He said ACH should just realize he doesn't have what it takes and said he(Tom) should have been in there instead. He said the Von Erich's learned a lesson when they lost their tag titles.

They said the Filty Island even is having financial problems as sponsors are pulling out after Tom's actions last week.

#1 Contenders to the Tag Titles - Violence is Forver(Kevin Ku and Dominic Garrini) vs Bu Ku Dao and TJP

Dom easily throws Dao, then lays on his back and tries to get Dao to come in so he can put him in a hold. He then throws Dao again. Dom puts Dao in a triangle and crawls backwards to tag in Ku. Dao hurricanrana's Ku. TJP puts Dao on his shoulders and forward rolls onto Ku. TJP throws Dao onto Ku.

Ku euro uppercuts Dao while he is in the german suplex position, then he is suplexed. Dom does a nice headlock takedown. Dao takes double chest kicks. Dom grabs Dao's hand and pretends to make him reach for the tag. Ku his a stiff lariat on Dao. Dao crucifix drivers Ku and finally tags out.

TJP is in and tornado ddt's Ku and gets some offense on Dom. TJP grabs Dom's arm then runs up the ropes and does an armdrag/hurricanrana combo onto both opponents. TJP goes up top and Dom pushes him off. TJP goes to tag in Dao whos is still hurting and he hits a la mistica into a crossface. TJP then hits a standing tilt-a-whirl move and Dom just falls onto Dao to break both holds up. Ku hits a nice kick across the back of the neck on Dao and Dom hits a jumping high knee on TJP. Dao does something off the top on Ku but it isn't clean then TJP does his version of the frogsplash for the win.

I didn't have any problems with this. Everyone did what they were supposed to.

TJP does a promo and tells Dao to follow his lead. He said they are taking a stroll through Los Parks next week.

King Mo did a promo saying he beat up, beat down and scarred Low-Ki. He called him a broken man. He said he saw Low-Ki sign an autograph that said "Ik-Wol", saying Ki has brain damage from fighting him. Mo then made a call for promoters to stop letting Ki wrestle because the next time he wrestles he might die, especially if he faces Mo. He called on promoters to ban Low-Ki. A real funny promo.

Richard Holliday did a promo. He said he watched the Vega/Austin strap match and said this won't be a classic, but a "True Caribbean Crime". He said he will take much joy into slapping Savio with the strap. He said he wants Vega to remember that Vega did this to himself. He said Vega will never out strap or out Caribbean him.

Caribbean Strap Match for the Caribbean Championship - Richard Holliday (c) vs Savio Vega

Vega said that he is ready for the battle and the title is coming back to Puerto Rico in an in-set promo. The winner here is the first one to touch all four corners.

Holliday hits 3 corners to start and is pulled down, then he chokes Holliday with the strap. Vega had a chance to win but was going slow. Holliday hit a back elbow and some stomps, then chokes him with the belt. Savio took some whips with the belt. Savio back body dropped Richard and clotheslined him over the top. Holliday did a lariat from the top.

Holliday went for his 4th buckle to win and Savio flipped him with the strap. Vega clotheslined him with the strap and chokes him with it. Savio tied up Holliday with the strap and Holliday prevented the 4th corner tap from Vega. Holliday went for the pin after the lariat but forgot there aren't pins here.

They clotheslined each other and Holliday slapped the buckles while behind Vega. Vega went for the last one but the ref wouldn't move out of the way on the 4th corner. Savio grabbed the ref and the ref finally moved with Richard Holliday slapping the 4th corner for the win. The finish was very lame at face value and really could have been executed better. The match just wasn't what you would want out of this. No blood and they didn't really bring the hate. The micing was also off so you couldn't hear a lot of the lashes well.

The ref exited with Holliday which seemed suspicious and Savio was rightfully very mad.

Holliday was interviewed. He said he didn't see any controversy. The ref said he called it right down the middle like with the Lakers and the Kings(is he the ref from the betting scandal?) and Vega came after him as we went to black.

Overall thoughts: The show was fine. I think a lot of the AEW/indy fans will like the Kid/Zenshi match. The finish to the main wasn't properly executed and harmed the show a little. The show went a few minutes extra than usual I believe and they got three decent length matches out of it plus some promos.
