New Japan Pro Wrestling 12/5/2024 World Tag League 2024 Day 13

Shoma Kato vs. Daiki Nagai

Nagai side headlocks him and shoulders him over. They trade chest chops and forearms. Kato forearms him over. Kato corner forearms him then hiptosses him for 2. Nagai hits some forearms and Kato slams him. Kato crabs him. Nagai hits a dropkick.

Nagai hits a hiptoss for 2. Nagai stomps on him and rolls him up for 2. Kato armdrags and dropkicks him. Kato back body drops him then crabs him. Nagai then taps out.

Thoughts: It was the usual young lions match. There was nothing wrong with it and they hit their moves clean. I'm just glad we aren't doing any more draws.

BULLET CLUB (Gedo, Stevie Filip & Tome Filip) vs. Just 4 Guys (DOUKI, Taichi & TAKA Michinoku)

Taka eye pokes and shin kicks Tome. Taka side headlocks him then does just facelock. Stevie breaks it up. Gedo hits Taka with the ring bell hammer outside. Stevie kneeling springboard swantons Taka. Gedo chokes Taka. Tome slams Taka into a legdrop.

Taka's head is banged off the buckles. Gedo fist drops Taka for 2. Taka pump kicks both Filip's. Tai gets in and hits shots on The Filip's. Tai side kicks Stevie for 2. Stevie elbow slices Tai then Tai back body drops him. Tai lariats him.

Gedo and Douki go at it. Gedo chinbreakers him then eye rakes him. Douki armdrags him then springboard armdrags him. Douki does a douki chokey and it is broken up. The heels mess up a triple team on Douki then Tai double lariats The Filip's. Douki puts a douki chokey on Gedo and taps him out.

Thoughts: It was short one and not much of note here. It wasn't real flashy and Gedo lost like he always does.

Oleg Boltin, Tiger Mask & Toru Yano vs. TMDK (Kosei Fujita, Mikey Nicholls & Shane Haste)

Oleg and Mikey go at it. They trade chops and shoulder battle. Oleg shoulders Mikey over. Yano pulls a turnbuckle pad off and Mikey elbows him over. Kosei chops Yano then Yano pulls him down by the hair. Yano atomic drops Shane then Oleg comes in and shoulders Shane over.

Oleg karelin's lifts Shane. Oleg slams him then hits a splash for 2. Shane hits a nice dropkick on Oleg. Oleg hits a double shoulder on Mikey and Shane. Tiger double underhook suplexes Kosei for 2.

Kosei hits a springboard dropkick on Tiger. Tiger takes corner attacks then is whipped into a Shane lariat and a Mikey sliding lariat. 

Tiger crucifixes Mikey then Tiger takes a lariat + backdrop. Mikey pins Tiger.

Thoughts: It was another shorter and uninteresting tag. They had a slower pace and there just wasn't a lot to this one.

Hiroshi Tanahashi, Jado & Katsuya Murashima vs. House Of Torture (Dick Togo, EVIL & Ren Narita)

The heels attack before the bell. Evil eye rakes Tana. The heels are all whipped into each other. Togo tries to beg off but is double whipped into a dropkick. Tana's team then all plays air guitar together. The heels stop that.

Evil eye rakes Tana outside and throws him into the rails, knocking the time keeper over. Evil then yells at him on the mic while stomping him. Togo stomps on Jado then fist drops him for 2. Togo hits punches on Jado then eye rakes him. Jado chops him then shoulders him over.

Tana is tagged in. He flying forearms Evil then dragon screws him, Ren and Togo. Tana slams Evil then 2nd rope swantons him. Tana makes Evil eye poke himself. Ren trips Tana from the outside. KM trips Ren from the outside. Tana hits a twist and shout on Evil.

KM is tagged in. KM hits forearms on Ren. Ren eye rakes him then KM flying forearms him. KM powerslams Ren for 2. KM dropkicks Ren then crabs him. Ren rolls KM into an ankle lock then a legbar. Ren taps him out.

Thoughts: We didn't get any ridiculous cheating here from the heels which was nice. It was pretty average otherwise with the heels being heels and the faces getting some offense in before being put down.

The faces get hit with weapons after and Evil sharpshooters Tana. 

Los Ingobernables de Japon (BUSHI, Hiromu Takahashi & Tetsuya Naito) vs. United Empire (Great-O-Khan, HENARE & Jakob Austin Young)

UE attck before the bell. Khan head and arm chokes Bushi. Bushi flying headscissors him then is tripped by Hen. Khan mongolian chops Bushi then uppercuts him. khan sits on Bushi's neck in the corner. Khan rolls Bushi. Hen hits leg kicks on Bushi then shoulders him over. Hen sentons Bushi for 2.

Jake gets in, snapmares Bushi and tries to rip the mask off. Bushi dropkicks him in the knee. Naito and Hen go at it. Naito armdrags him. Hen doesn't get up and the match is called off due to a leg injury.

Thoughts: No rating for this one as it ended due to injury. Hopefully Henare is okay.

Henare has to be helped out to the back after.

World Tag League 2024 Block A Match - FUNKY SAUCE (Alex Zayne & Ryusuke Taguchi) vs. BULLET CLUB (Chase Owens & KENTA)

Chase boots RT and side headlocks him. RT keeps pushing Chase aside as he runs the ropes. Chase gets tired and falls down on a missed lariat. Kenta hip attacks Alex while RT hip attacks Chase.

Kenta hits hip attacks on RT. Chase flying hip attacks RT. Kenta back elbows RT for 2 then Chase hip attacks RT. Chase short arm lariats RT. Chase punches RT in the head. Chase blocks RT's hip attack then RT hip attacks him.

Alex comes in and hits forearms on Chase. He hiptosses him into a cinnamon twist. Alex up kicks Chase from the mat after a missed flipping legdrop. Chase STO's him down and misses a senton.

Chase boots him out of the corner then backdrops him. Alex pumping knees him then Chase does the same. Alex back body drops him. Chase is on the top and Alex flips into a hurricanrana on him. RT and Kenta get in. RT bangs Kent's head off his butt and hip attacks him. Kenta atomic drops him and lariats him. 

Alex headscissors Kenta into RT's butt then RT hip attacks him. Kenta crossfaces RT while Chase does the came to Alex. RT and Alex do stereo ankle locks then Kenta rolls up RT for 2. RT ankle locks Kenta. Kenta low blows RT, RT falls over and low blows him. RT cradles Kenta and picks up the win.

Thoughts: This was only half serious here with everyone goofing around with hip attacks early. That took me out of it and made it hard to really care.

World Tag League 2024 Block A Match - United Empire (Callum Newman & Jeff Cobb) vs. TMDK (Ryohei Oiwa & Zack Sabre Jr.)

Oiwa side headlocks Cobb. Cobb shoulders him over then Oiwa armdrags him. Oiwa armlocks him out of a slam. Oiwa dropkicks him. CN running facekicks Oiwa. Oiwa suplexes him. Zack twists CN's neck with his feet. He then headscissors CN. Oiwa snapmares him and yanks his ears with his feet. Zack headscissors CN.

Oiwa headscissors CN. Zack gets back in and euros CN. CN sweeps him and double stomps his back. Cobb comes in and rams Zack into the corner. He hits corner spears then backdrops him for 2. Cobb standing moonsaults him for 2.

Zack back elbows Cobb then tornado ddt's him off the buckles. Oiwa comes in and corner dropkicks Cobb. Oiwa dropkicks him then suplexes him for 2. Cobb spin cycle backdrops him.

CN gets in and hits forearms and kicks on Oiwa. Oiwa takes a double team followed by a high/low for 2. Oiwa armdrags CN then Zack armdrags CN. Oiwa olympic slams CN for 2. Zack euros CN over.

CN forearms Zack then Zack leg kicks him. Zack pulls both of his arms back. CN ropebreaks. CN enzugiri's him then Zack low dropkicks him. Cobb deadlift germans Zack and Oiwa. Oiwa germans Cobb. CN does a jumping double knee press on Zack then buzzsaw kicks him. CN sitout powerbombs Zack for 2.

Zack facekicks Oiwa on accident then CN os cutters Zack for 2. CN goes up top and takes headbutts from Oiwa. CN's foot kind of slips a little on the 2nd rope and his other knee is hurt. CN is down and injured and the match is stopped.

Thoughts: This is our second injury of the night. They were having a decent match here then CN just got randomly injured. I think he hurt it somewhere earlier and just felt it here as all he was doing was standing on the 2nd rope when he got injured. There's no rating for this one as it ended early due to injury.

CN has to be helped out to the back.

World Tag League 2024 Block A Match - Shota Umino & Tomoaki Honma vs. Los Ingobernables de Japon (Shingo Takagi & Yota Tsuji)

Shingo double axe handles Shota then chops him. Shota dropkicks him in the knee then does a normal dropkick. Shingo shoulders Honma over and dragon screws Shota on the ropes. Honma is thrown into the rails outside.

Shingo boots Shota's leg in the rail. Shota gets his legs split. Yota dropkicks Shota in the knee and dragon screws him. Yota leglocks him then single leg crabs him. Yota bangs Shota's knee off the mat. Shingo stomps on Shota's knee then he sweeps it.

Shota and Shingo trade. Shingo hits shots to the knee. Shota neckbeakers him. Honma and Shingo go at it. Honma shoulders him over then hits chops. Honma bulldogs him then misses a headbutt drop. Shingo misses a senton. Shingo back elbows and lariats him.

Honma takes corner attacks, then takes a double backdrop for 2. Yota 2nd rope superplexes Honma and Shingo sliding lariats Honma. Hnma hits a ddt + flatliner combo.

Shota comes in and top rope dropkicks Yota. Shota hits a crossrhodes then lifts him for a reverse ddt. Shota STF's Yota. Yota takes a pop-up knee then an exploder from Shota. Yota then takes a headbutt and ignition. Shota running euros Yota in the corner then tornado ddt's him.

Shingo clips Shota's knee. Shingo hits a double lariat on his opponents. Yota curbstomps Shota for 2. Shota takes a facebuster into a wheelbarrow german. Honma fights off both opponents and headbutts both.

Yota pumping knees Honma then Shingo death valley drivers Honma. Honma takes a stiff lariat + spear combo. Yota corner splashes Shota then Shingo corner lariats Shota. Shota takes a buckle bomb and Yota top rope double stomps Shota for 2. 

Shota hits forearms on both opponents. Shingo uppercuts him then Shota takes a double headbutt. Shingo flips Shota with a lariat. Yota spears Shingo on accident then Shota rolls up Yota for 2. Yota death rider ddt's Yota for the win.

Thoughts: Shota got his leg worked on early. He did sell it but the leg work dipped off the in the 2nd half. They had some fun double teams here and put out a good effort in this one so I liked it. This one also got lots of time so it actually could develop into something.

World Tag League 2024 Block A Match - Bishamon (Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI) vs. BULLET CLUB War Dogs (Gabe Kidd & SANADA)

Bishamon gets hit before it starts. Gabe hits Goto with his staff and does his pose. Goto is sent into the rails and chopped. Gabe chops Goto in the ring then takes a double shoulder. Sanada is suplexed onto Gabe then Gabe is clubbed on by both opponents.

Goto corner lariats Gabe then Gabe bites him. Sanada bangs Yoshi's head off the seats outside and Goto's head is banged off the seats. Goto hits back and flurries on Gabe before getting thrown into the seats.

They go back in. Sanada stomps Goto then eye rakes him. Goto takes a russian legsweep. Goto hits forearms on Gabe and Gabe bites him. Gabe chops him in the corner. Sanada stomps on Goto then eye rakes him.

Gabe lariats Sanada off the ropes. Yoshi headhunters Sanada then neckbreakers him. Gabe comes in and hits chops on Yoshi. Gabe and Yoshi trade chops. Yoshi dropkicks him in the knee. Goto is tagged in and shoulders over Gabe. Goto spinning heel kicks him in the corner and backdrops him for 2.

Goto and Gabe trade forearms. They double lariat each other then slap each other. Gabe backdrops him then Goto lariats im. Sanada dropkicks Yoshi in the knee then standing dropkicks him. He then plancha's him outside.

Everyone gets a move in. Yoshi blocks Sanada's low blow then Sanada takes a double team elbow slice drop for 2. Gabe a takes a foreamr and a chest kick from Goto. Gabe then double lariats both opponents.

Sanada facekicks Yoshi and backrolls him into skull end. Yoshi armdrags out of it and Sanada shining wizards him. Yoshi rolls him up for 2 out of deadfall. Yoshi is popped up and low blowed by Gabe. Gabe piledrivers yoshi then Sanada hits deadfall on Yoshi for the win.

Thoughts: It never really got that good here. They did the usual brawling outside early and it just never had a lot of momentum or excitement going for it. That's one of the hazards of the heel style Gabe and Sanada is doing - it often limits how good the match will be. It was a very average match.

Gabe gets on the mic after. He tells Goto and Yoshi to get the f--k out of here. He says people are saying him and Sanada aren't getting along but they are going to the world tag league finals. Gabe says they will win this and says they are War Dogs. Sanada talks in Japanese and says, "see you next f--king time".

Overall thoughts: It was pretty much the average Tag League show. There was only one match that was good here and without any injuries in it. Two matches were stopped early due to injuries and it's a shame as those matches were showing some potential. The semi-main was the best match of the night. I wouldn't recommend this one and would only give it a 5 out of 10.
