AEW Collision 12/14/2024
Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2024/12/aew-collision-1272024.html
We see Will Ospreay go up to Darby after Dynamite this week. He thanks Darby for saving him and says he wouldn't be able to finish the tournament if it wasn't for him. Darby says something will happen again unless they do something about The Death Riders. Will says he has got things going on and lost two in a row on PPV. He says he has to get momentum and that means going over every person in the tournament, even Darby. Darby says there may not be a Continental Classic if they don't take care of this. Darby asks what he's doing. Will says he's trying to win this tournament. He tells Darby to knock on his door after this is over.
Mark Briscoe says he's coming for Kyle Fletcher and needs this win. He says he will show him that he's all dog. Kyle says Mark will be just another victim and he will see him in the semifinals. Okada calls Mortos "B!tch Mortos" and Mortos growls.
Thoughts: This was a good opening segment here. I am glad they kind of brought back the old Collision thing with the wrestlers talking about their opponents for tonight.
International Women's Cup Qualifier Final - Willow Nightingale vs Jamie Hayter
Jamie side headlock takeovers her. Willow then does it to her and Jamie headscissors her. They get up and Jamie side headlocks her. They shoulder battle and Willow shoulders her over. Jamie cradles her for 2 and Willow shoulders her over.
Jamie blocks a hiptoss and Willow backslides her. Jamie cradles her. They trade chops and forearms. Willow hits chops and Jamie chops back. Willow back body drops Jamie over the top but Jamie holds onto the top rope. Jamie then ddt's her on the apron.
The lights completely go out for a second and then come back on. Willow cannonballs Jamie off the apron. We go to PiP break and return.
Jamie superplexes her for 2. Jamie flying knees her for 2. Jamie ushigoroshi's her then sliding lariats her. Willow hits forearms and takes a step-up enzugiri. They lariat each other at the same time and facekick each other down at the same time.

Jamie escapes a doctor bomb for 2. Jamie uranage backbreakers her. Willow hits a doctor bomb and wins.
Thoughts: Willow winning this was an upset. It took a little to get going but they got stiff with each other and Jamie threw Willow around. I ended up liking this one and thought they should run this one again. Willow got her nose busted open during this.
The lights go out again. Julia Hart appears in the ring and hammerlock ddt's Jamie.
We get a video on the Continental Classic.
Continental Classic Blue League Match - Kazuchika Okada vs The Beast Mortos
Okada clean breaks him on the ropes. Okada eye pokes him and side headlocks him. Okada grabs him by the hair and Mort shoulders him over. Mort powerslams him. Okada throws Mort over the top. Mort tornillo topes Okada outside. Okada is thrown into the steps. Mort misses a cannonball and goes into the steps.
Okada ddt's Mort. We go to break and return. Mort hits a slingblade bulldog. Mort twists Okada's neck with his feet. Mort tilt-a-whirl backbreakers Okada twice. Mort backbreakers Okada for 2.
Mort takes a flapjack. They trade shots. Mort headbutts him and both go down. Okada over the back neckbreakers him on the knee. Okada top rope elbow drops him. Mort spinning lariats Okada. Mort then pop-up samoan drops Okada for 2.
Mort misses a top rope corkscrew swanton. Okada dropkicks him. Okada spinning lariats him then hits a rainmaker to win.
Thoughts: It was an okay match. There was no story or anything but they hit their moves clear and didn't overdo it. While I don't love the The Continental Classic as a a concept, it does mean we get unusual matches like this that we would not get otherwise.
Toni Storm vs Shazza McKenzie
Shaz lost on Rampage last night. Shaz boots her and side headlocks her. Toni shoulders Shaz over and basement dropkicks her. Toni suplexes Shaz. Shaz running knees her. Toni germans her then hip attacks her. Toni hits a storm zero.
Thoughts: It was just a quick squash. Toni is not as over as she was under the Timeless character.
Toni says she is officially All Elite after. What that means when she has been here for years is unknown.
We see Mariah May talk after Dynamite. She says she doesn't care about Toni. She says the same thing that happened to Mina will hppen to her and Rosa. She said every wrestler she fights wishes the ywere never born. She says Mina's career is over and she should go back to modelling. She says this is just what she does and says she will do it to any girl who steps in her way. She tells Thunder Rosa to name a time and place and she will end her life. She says there is only one reality.
Tony interviews Thunder Rosa. Rosa talks about winning the title before. She says it doesn't matter who you are when you won the title, it matters who you are when you aren't champ. She says there's a place in hell for May. Toni Storm walks in. She introduces herself and says it's a pleasure to meet her. She then introduces herself to Tony. Rosa says her dad will come watch her fight in 2 weeks and she challenges her for World's End. She says she wants a Tijuana Street Fight and said her dad is bringing dirt from Tijuana for it.
We get a hype video for Darby Allin vs Will Ospreay.
Winner gets a tag title shot - Top Flight (Darius and Dante Martin) vs Top Flight (Action Andretti and Lio Rush)
Leila Grey came out with Dante and Darius. Action wore a jacket and sunglasses like Lio does.
Lio and Dante go at it. Dante gets some pin attempts in. Private Party is watching in the back. Darius and AA get in. AA side headlock takeovers him and Darius shoulders him over. Darius rolls on him with a pin attempt. AA tries a pin attempt then is put in a backslide. AA upkicks him.
They bump hcests. AA enzugiri's him. Lio uses the ropes and is blocked on a headscissors. AA and Lio handspring kick their opponents off the apron.

Darius takes a double falcon arrow for 2. Lio flips Dante with a lariat then Darius flips him with a lariat. AA superkicks Darius out.
AA seated moonsaults Darius outside. Dante topes AA. Lio topes Dante and nails Grey as well on accident. Dante is sent into the post then Lio top rope frogsplashes Darius. AA hits a springboard 450 on Darius and wins.
Thoughts: It was a high-flying, fast-paced match as expected here. The bit with Grey threw a nice twist in there which should continue the issues between these two times. I was fine with this one though they could have played up the feuding partners angle.
Kris Statlander vs. Tootie Lynn
Kris snapmares her then dragon screws her. Kris does a delayed suplex. Kris basement dropkicks her. TL hurricanrana's her. Kris hits a big lariat then hits her one-legged package tombstone for the win.
Thoughts: It was a quick squash as expected and didn't do a lot for Kris.
Dustin Rhodes does a promo. He says they will leave Dutch and Vincent rotting in the double bullrope match. He says not to mention his dad's name again as it will be the last words they spear.
The Outrunners (Truth Magnum & Turbo Floyd), Daniel Garcia, Komander & Orange Cassidy vs. The Varsity Athletes (Ari Daivari, Josh Woods & Tony Nese) & MxM Collection (Mansoor & Mason Madden)
DG = Daniel Garcia, OC = Orange Cassidy
Mark Sterling gets on the mic. He says the fans can join in on their pre-game cheer. He says he wants them to say "rule" after he says Athletes.
Woods backs up DG on the ropes and kind of does his dance taunt at him. Josh takes him down. DG rolls up Woods and gets a pin attempt in. DG flying back elbows Josh. OC hits boots on Nese. Nese blocks OC's stunner and Kom flips over Tony's back with a hurricanrana. Kom gets crotched on the top rope. Kom takes a side slam + jumping legdrop combo. We go to PiP break and return. Ari and Nese pose and ar epulled out by the faces. DG is sent into the rails. Mark Sterling trips up Kom. Kom grabs him and is hit from behind. Kom takes one of the strangest set-ups ever into a superkick + powerbomb combo and a frog splash.
DG backdrops Mansoor. Madden headbutts DG. OC ddt's Madden then topes Mansoor. DG dropkicks Mansoor in the corner. Kom rope walk corkscrew dives outside and tags out during it. OC superman punches Mark off the apron then superman punches Woods to win.
Thoughts: This was a short one. There were too many people and not enough time. What we got was fine but this needed double or triple what it got. The Outrunners only got in the ring during the PiP break portion of this.
Don Callis does a promo. Don said he had a bad night last night. He says Hobbs and Mark Davis did a number on his crew. He said he woke up with a hole in his heart but woke up to fantastic news - Takeshita and Hobbs will fight at World's End. He says Kyle Fletcher is getting ready for the main and will ensure he goes on to World End tonight and wins the Continental Title.
Continental Classic 2024 Blue League Match - Mark Briscoe vs. Kyle Fletcher
Kyle shoulders him over and poses. Kyle side headlock takeovers him. Kyle stomps him. Mark gets up and tells him to hit him. Mark bites him. Mark dropkicks him through the ropes then tope con hilos him through the ropes. Mark headhunters Kyle onto the floor. Kyle brainbusters Mark on the top of the rail.
Kyle jumps off a chair and jumps over the rail onto Mark. They get on the rail and Mark suplexes Kyle down to the floor. We go to PiP break and return. Kyle double axe handles Mark. Mark hits forearms then flying forearms him. Mark exploders Kyle. Mark back enzugiri's him. Mark fisherman busters him for 2. Kyle hits a half and half suplex. Mark lariats him over then rolling death valley drivers him. Mark sliding lariats him.

Kyle facekicks him and Mark uppercuts him. Kyle rolls him up with his feet on the ropes and is caught. Mark rolls him up for 2. Kyle brainbusters him for 2. Kyle corner facekicks him.
Mark hits a cut throat burning hammer. Kyle then rolls out. Mark froggy bows Kyle off the top outside. Mark top rope froggy bows him for 2. Kyle rolls up Mark for 2. Mrk rolls up Kyle for 2. Mark blows a low blow and hits a jay driller. Mark then gets the win.
Thoughts: They did too much here with Kyle surviving a cut throat burning hammer. I wasn't that into the match and didn't think it was that great. There was not much story in this one either. Mark winning was an upset as it seemed like Kyle was going to run the table. I was surprised they had Kyle take the loss against Mark and not someone else.
Mark celebrates with Willow and OC after. We cut to The Death Riders in the back with a camera. We see them put hoods on FTR from behind and abduct them behind closed doors. We don't see what happens but we see Yuta smile.
Overall thoughts: Only one match had any build here so it was to get too emotionally involved in this. It was a wrestling heavy show as Collision usually is. Hayter/Willow was the best match of the night and Okada/Mortos was an interesting match we wouldn't have seen outside of The Continental Classic. I didn't like the main but I don't normally enjoy Kyle Fletcher matches. I thought the 10-man tag was too short. The show was okay overall but nothing must see. I'd give it a 5 out of 10 and would not recommend it.
