New Japan Pro Wrestling 12/4/2024 World Tag League 2024 Day 12

Day 11 is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2024/12/new-japan-pro-wrestling-1222024-world.html

They had Hiroshi Tanahashi come out and him and Liger were in some music video for the town. Jushin Liger then came out to talk. One of the mascots from the music video is in the stands.

We did not see a young lions match today.

Alex Zayne & Katsuya Murashima vs. BULLET CLUB (Chase Owens & KENTA)

Thoughts: It was a short opener. KM and Alex looked fine. Chase and Kenta did nothing of note as usual. It was acceptable for an opener but not much more.

Goto's head is banged off a chair and Yoshi gets chaired in the gut.

Gedo stomps on Kato back in the ring and foot chokes him. Kato is sent into the rails. Sanada bangs Kato's head off the buckle. Gabe grabs a mic and I think he sings the song from earlier while stomping Kato.

Thoughts: It was very average. They fought outside early and then it mostly boiled down to Gabe vs Kato which of course Gabe won. Kato got a lot of offense in on Gabe. Gabe also sang a song during the match.

Honma gets in and chest kicks Yota. He headkicks him then Tiger tilt-a-whirl backbreakerd Bushi. Tiger crucifixes Yota. Tiger rolls up Yota then Yota hits a big spear on Tiger to win.

Thoughts:
It was too short and wasn't what it could have been. We didn't get much of anything here. Everyone just got their quick segment in and that was it.

United Empire (Callum Newman, Jakob Austin Young & Jeff Cobb) vs. TMDK (Kosei Fujita, Ryohei Oiwa & Zack Sabre Jr.)

Kosei and Jake go at it. They get off to a slow start. Jake forearms Kosei on the break. They trade forearms. Jake shoulders him over. Jake takes a knee to the gut and a chest kick. Zack euros Jake over. Oiwa slams and falling splashes Jake.

Jake pumping knees Oiwa. Oiwa puts him in a sleeper. Oiwa spinning lariats him for the win.

Thoughts:
It got a little more time than the usual 6-man tag but still wasn't really what it should have been. They did try some here at least though with Cobb putting out a good effort. They tried to maybe get something going here with Jake and Kosei but I don't think it worked.

Newman and Kosei have words after and Cobb has words for Oiwa and Zack.

World Tag League 2024 Block B Match - TMDK (Mikey Nicholls & Shane Haste) vs. Just 4 Guys (Taichi & TAKA Michinoku)

Mikey low diving lariats Taka and Tai takes a uranage/powerbomb combo. Mikey death valley drivers Taka for 2. Taka takes a uranage/powerbomb combo. and gets pinned.

Thoughts: I thought it was an average match. I didn't really think Taka and Tai had a real chance here. It got enough time but wasn't great.

World Tag League 2024 Block B Match - The Natural Classics (Stevie Filip & Tome Filip) vs. United Empire (Great-O-Khan & HENARE)

Khan and Tome go at it. Khan's head is banged off the buckles. He takes a running boot and a kneeling springboard swanton. Tome chokes Khan on the bottom rope then Stevie chokes Khan as well. Tome slams Khan and hits a legdrop for 2. Stevie dropkicks Hen out then sends him into the rails and post.

Khan takes a kick + drop combo and Stevie moonsaults outside. Hen hits a spinebuster on Tome and takes a superkick from Stevie.

Khan superkicks Tome then Tome takes an imperial drop. Khan pins Tome.

Thoughts: It didn't get enough time at all here. Because we just had to have 4 meaningless undercard matches. Had it gotten more time it might have been good but who had time for that? This would have been better if Khan and Hen were the heels and Stevie/Tome were the faces.

Oleg and Tana go at it. They shoulder battle and Oleg shoulders him over. Tana 2nd rope twisting crossbodies Oleg. Yano takes a double shoulderblock and Oleg is tripped onto Yano. Oleg is thrown out. Jado and Tana play air guitar and Yano hits them in the back of the head.

Yano gets in. Tana hits a twist and shout on him. Yano takes shots from both opponents. Yano eye rakes Jado then Jado bridging ddt's him. Jado lariats Yano then Tana sling blades Yano for 2.

Yano is rolled up by Jado for 2. The ref gets pushed over, Yano hits a double low blow and pins Jado.

Thoughts:
It wasn't good as it expected. Yano goofed around like always and Tana/Jado are both limited. If there was a tag league match that should have gone short, it should have been this. Instead, it got too much time and wasn't interesting.

World Tag League 2024 Block B Match - Los Ingobernables de Japon (Hiromu Takahashi & Tetsuya Naito) vs. House Of Torture (EVIL & Ren Narita)

LIJ attack early. The heels are sent into each other. Evil is knocked over by both opponents. Naito chinlocks Evil then HT basement dropkicks Evil. Evil eye rakes Naito then Naito rakes him back. HT is tagged in and he flying headscissors Ren. HT shotgun dropkicks Ren. HT crossbodies Ren off the apron then running crossbodies Evil outside. Togo tries to run away and HT crossbodies him too.

Ren sends HT into the exposed buckle and goes for the armbar. HT is sent into the buckle and takes a double suplex. Togo trips and sends HT into the rail outside. HT goes back in. Evil suplexes him and sharpshooters him.

HT ropebreaks. Evil hits darkness falls. HT superkicks him. Naito armdrags and back elbows Evil. Naito baseball slides him. Naito hangs from the top rope and Evil footpresses him down. Ren gets in and jumping fcekicks Naito. He then underhook suplexes him for 2.

Naito hits elbows on Ren then hits a diamond dust. Naito is pushed into the ref. Togo then comes in. Naito gets double teamed. Naito takes corner attacks then is chopped in the nuts. Ren top rope diving kneepresses Naito for 2.

Ren gets the push up board and fights for it with Naito. HT throws it away then drops Naito with a superkick. HT looks at House of Torture and nobody knows what's going on. House of Torture does their hand signal and HT joins in. HT shakes hands with Ren and Evil. He then STO's Evil and Ren. HT kicks the crotch into Togo then helps Naito tornado ddt Ren. Naito hits a bad destino on Ren and wins.

Thoughts: Well, this had a real shocker of a finish. I don't think I've ever seen a wrestler attack their partner, pretend to join the other team then reveal it was a trick. They certainly got tricked me here and it was a wild moment. The match wasn't much otherwise as it had the usual HoT BS with stupid refs, but at least they tried to do something here.

Naito and HT talk on the mic after. Naito talks about Hiromu's birthday and the Happy Birthday music is played for about 3 seconds. They talk more after.

Overall thoughts:
I'm going to be honest with you - I am completely over this tour at this moment. As I said when it started, the teams looked bad and were going to bring this tournament down. And they have. However, the booking did them no favors, as the tag matches are just not getting enough time outside of the main and therefore aren't anything special. I was totally bored with this show and thought the only notable thing on here with Hiromu pretending to turn on Naito. I would not recommend this or really anything from this tour. I'd give it a 3 out of 10 overall.
