WWE/AAA Worlds Collide 2025 6/7/2025

WWE/AAA Worlds Collide 2025 6/7/2025

Pre-show notes: WWE bought AAA recently and announced it at Wrestlemania. They had a short time from Wrestlemania until now to put this together, so some talent is missing and we aren't getting the best WWE/AAA show possible. It's also worth mentioning that AEW is doing a show in Arena Mexico with CMLL. I have no doubt that this show was chosen to happen before that one on purpose and it really brings the AEW vs WWE war to a new battlefield.

We get a Rey Mysterio video in Spanish with clips of WWE buying AAA and various wrestlers. Rey says its your turn to carry the torch and take the legacy to new heights. Rey says lucha is more than a tradition it's a revolution and rebellion. He says it's their time on the world's stage and says to rise.

We see Rey Mysterio and various wrestlers arrive.

Corey Graves and Konnan are on commentary. Konnan says it's a historic day saying the world was introduced to various lucha stars 30 years ago and says we will see the present and future AAA stars. I think Latin Lover is behind the commentators.

Shawn Michaels, Laredo Kid, Marisela Pena, Blue Demon Jr., Pagano and Triple H are in the ring. Banners are held up for Antonio Pena and the other Pena who owned Triple A. The Mexican national anthem is sung. Lillian Garcia then does the US national anthem.

Rey Mysterio comes out. He talks in Spanish and talks about AAA World's Collide. He said he thought lucha would only be seen in Mexico and is proud to be part of the evolution of it.

They have a white canvas with green/white/red ropes.

Latino World Order (Dragon Lee and Cruz del Toro) and Lince Dorado vs. Octagón Jr., Aero Star, and Mr. Iguana

Ig = Mr. Iguana

Ig crawls to the ring with his toy. Dominik Mysterio and Liv Morgan are in the front row.

Oct and Cruz go at it. Oct hammerlocks him and rolls with him. Cruz flying snapmares him. Oct sunset flips him then Cruz shoulders him over. They bridge up together and they armdrag each other. They legsweep each other then stand off.

Lee side headlocks Aero then shoulders him over. Aero chops him then Lee flips out of his flying headscissors. Aero flips out of a snapmare. Lee gets kicked while on the 2nd rope then Aero tornillos him off the top.

Lee is thrown over the top. Ig and Oct hit stereo flying headscissors then do stereo tope con hilos. Aero then topes Lee. Aero top rope splashes but Lee gets his knees up. Cruz bottom rope asai moonsaults Aero. Lince splashes Aero for 2.

Lince backcrackers Aero for 2. Lee pumping knees Aero and Aero dropkicks him. Ig and Cruz go at it. They trade forearms and chops. Cruz dropkicks him in the knee then rolls him with a la magistral for 2.

Ig bulldogs Cruz. Ig then walks up the buckles and diving headscissors Lee. Lince has Ig's toy stuck on him. Lince elbow drops and standing spanish flies the toy. Ig gets mad and sattelite spinning headscissors him. Ig hits his opponents with his toy. They all throw around the top then Ig takes a triple superkick. Lince hits a double handspring cutter. Ig is in tree of woe and takes a top rope double stomp. Lee tope con hilos Oct. Lince top rope ssp's Ig.

Oct is enzugiri'd up top. Lince top rope hurricanrana's Oct. Aero rolls into a cutter on Lince. Lee superkicks Aero. Ig does a headbutt on Lee and Cruz rope walk dropkicks Ig. Aero step up springboard dives Lee. Cruz walks up the buckles and tornillos out.

Lince and Oct trade chest forearms. Oct hits a top rope moonsault bodyslam on Lince and pins him.

Thoughts: It was a good opener and was a good choice for the opener. We got lots of flying here and Mr. Iguana got over big and fast as expected.

Dominik Mysterio gets on the mic after. He says the wrestlers are a big Rey fan but forget that he's a deadbeat and Dom is their champ. Oct comes up to Dom. Dom shoves him then Dom is pulled over the rail. Oct pounds on him and sends him into the ring where they fight. Refs try to break it up as Liv, Iguana and Aero get involved. Dom says he will see Oct at Money in the Bank and says he will make sure he puts the title on the line.

They do a video on the formation of AAA. Marisela Pena and Dorian Roldan talk about Antonio Pena and say he had a bold vision. They talk about his version of AAA with the focus being a spectacle and an alterntive to tradition.

We get clips of Mascarita Sagrada and Latin Lover, who are both at ringside.

Chuey Martinez of Evolve interviews Legado del Fantasma. Berto says they are ready for war. Angel talks about proving their legacy. Santos holds up a WWE patch and says it means something. Thoughts: It was so-so as expected. Dal got off to a bad start here and they all had some different styles so it wasn't your typical lucha match.

SV and Lola are interviewed in the ring after by Vero Rodriguez. Lola talks in Spanish as does SV.

Chuey Martinez interviews Chad Gable. Chuey calls this the lion's den and Chad says this is like a second home to him. He says the Mexican people love him and know he embraces the spirit of lucha. Santos cradle shocks Hijo and wins.

Thoughts
: It wasn't that great as expected. Pag and Clown aren't work rate guys and I find Hijo to be pretty average. It went longer than it needed to and Pagano did not look good, which is no surprise.

Page razors' edges Rey for 2 with Evans breaking it up with a springboard splash. Evans forearms Kid then superkicks Page. Evans double jump cutters Kid. Evans is thrown out onto Rey. Page cutters Kid and wins.

Thoughts: It was your usual 4-way with lots of flying. There was a bit of a delay between spots and the crowd didn't have consistent heat here. There also wasn't a ton of selling, but some cool spots. Evans' suicide over the commentary table was wild and I think we saw the first flipping ddt/canadian destroyer ddt on WWE TV here.

Marisela Pena says Triplemania is the World Cup of lucha. They talk about the history of it and put over how big of an event it is. We see clips from Triplemania 1. They say Triplemania will continue every year into the future and says the next one is in August.

Thoughts: Vik winning was the smarter move to help out AAA and act in good faith. I didn't like the match though. It was your usual Vikingo style match with both guys doing way too much, though they did try to sell it. I thought it went long and there was just no great story here when there could have been.

The AAA wrestlers then pose with Vik after and hold him up.

Overall thoughts:  We only had 5 matches here. All of them got enough time, some got too much time. I didn't have the highest expectations from this one as the AAA roster is not as good as it used to be and WWE didn't have their best wrestlers in this one. Some of AAA's best also weren't on this either due to various issues likely revolving around visa's and WWE not wanting to use certain talents. The opener was good and maybe the best thing on the show. The women's match wasn't that good as expected. The Legado match was so-so as people like Pagano and Clown are not top flight workers and I thought it got too much time. The 4-way had cool spots and lots of flying but not a lot of selling and had some dull moments between spots. The main was the usual Vikingo match - an indy style match where Vikingo does a ton of big moves that ultimately end up being meaningless. I was hoping Chad could reign him in but Vikingo ended up bringing him down.

I think WWE did a decent job with this one considering the limited amount of time they had for it and due to most of the roster not being known. I also thought they did a nice job of talking about the history of AAA and they were respectful. I thought WWE not having some of the announcements in English was disrespectful and I thought them doing some of the interviews without any subtitles or announcers speaking English was also disrespectful. I would have understood it if this was only an AAA show, but this was an AAA and WWE show and a lot of people were going to be left out on some of that. And that's not really something a fan should feel when the show is happening in their own country.

I'd give it a 6 out of 10 overall. It was a solid attempt and the framework was there but the talent and build wasn't. Nothing was must see here but if your curious, the opener is the one thing you'd want to see. I can't really say I'm dying to see second version of this show as things currently stand.
