Ring of Honor TV 11/3/2012

Ring of Honor TV 11/3/2012

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2012/10/ring-of-honor-tv-10272012-review.html

Note - All of the matches here are from Glory By Honor XI. I reviewed that here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2012/10/roh-glory-by-honor-xi-review.html. However, I wanted to cover the other stuff from the show I didn't see at the time.

This is a Road Rage edition. Nigel McGuinness and Kevin Kelly welcome us to the show. Jay Lethal vs Davey Richards is tonight.

Truth Martini talks. He says they will dish out the hoopla tonight. He says thinks are alright with them and Roderick Strong. He says he doesn't feel sorry for many people but feels sorry for what will happen to Tadarius Thomas tonight.

Roderick Strong comes out. He says this is BS and says Tadarius Thomas has beaten no one. He says he doesn't deserve to face him. Strong says he's not going on strike, he's quitting The House of Truth. He says he will drink beer and watch Michael Elgin fail at becoming champ.

The ref goes out to count out Strong. Truth Martini then brings out Rhyno. He says the hoopla continues and says everything is fine with Strong. He says he has a hired mercenary and speaks the language of money. Truth says they will pick up some hoopla hotties after this and take their pants off. He says TD will D-I-E courtesy of the G-O-R-E.

Tadarius Thomas vs Rhino

Tadarius Thomas beat Rhino with a roll-up after a kick. I was really happy about TD getting the upset here. It looks like ROH finally opened their eyes and saw what they got here. Rhino was so-so but Tadarius Thomas was really awesome. He did new spots as shown above and just looked so cool. This guy is going to be absolutely huge if they do this right and he's already my favorite current wrestler. Rating:*1/5 (wasn't very long)

Rhino turned on Truth after the match for his involvement and for him trying to interfere.

We get some hype for Final Battle 2012. Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas do a promo. SB says the New York fans don't like WGTT. He says their opponents haven't been named yet but they will prove once again that they are still wrestling's greatest.

The announcers show us clips of Kevin Steen vs Jay Lethal. The match gets out of control. Steen spits on Lethal's mom and she throws water at him. Lethal then beats up Steen and various refs outside who are trying to break it up. We then see Steen throw stuff as he leaves. Jim Cornette tries to tell Jay that Steen didn't know that was his mom. Jay says he will murder the next person who tries to spit at his mom.

Lethal goes to the back and pushes over Todd Sinclair. He then throws Jim Cornette over a table in what was a wild angle at the time.

The announcers talk. Kevin Kelly says they talked to Jim Cornette on the phone and we see clips from that. Jim talks about Jay's mom throwing a drink at Steen which he said could be considered assault. He says Steen spitting at her could be assault. He then says Jay bruised up the ref and threw Jim over furniture. Jim says he reactivated an old back injury. He says he can't travel and says Jay was disciplined several different ways by Joe Coff. He said Steen threatened to sue due to unsafe working environments. He says a replacement will take over for him until he recovers.

We see a Matt Hardy interview. He says The Briscoe Brothers are a great tag team won the titles 7 times. He says he can remember when The Hardy's won the titles 7 times. He then talks about Davey Richards. He says he stands out and is a global name. Matt says he had wrestled across every continent in his teens. He talks about Jay Lethal's new attitude and says you have to step on people to climb the ladder and move up. He says he's a big fan of the ROH promotion. He says ROH has the talent, the wrestlers and need that one mainstream character whose face is known. He says they need that well known established star and asks who that could possibly be.

Thoughts: This was funny with Matt giving backhanded compliments and subtly putting himself over.

We see clips of a recent Steen vs Elgin match where Steen wins. Steen is given a box after by Nigel McGuinness and it has an El Generico mask. Strong also hits a sick kick on Elgin. Kevin Kelly says he will give us updates as they warrant it on that situation.

Kevin and Nigel show us a recap of the 2012 Survival of the Fittest. Jay Lethal and Davey Richards are the final two and Jay picks up the win.

Jay Lethal does a promo before his match. He says Joe Coff told him not to talk about what happened but said this is live and he doesn't care. He tells Steen to kiss his @ss for spitting on his parents and says he put Cornette in the hospital. He says ROH told him he was too nice and needed a killer instinct. He says ROH can also kiss his @ss. He said he respects Davey Richards but he has a lot of anger built up inside. He says Davey will be the wrong person at the wrong time.

They shill Final Battle 2012 before the next match. The Briscoes do a promo. Jay says there might be snow but they will walk out in their drawers if they have to. He says if SCUM still has the titles, they will whoop them. Mark tells Santa he wants a shot to become the 8x tag champs.

Jay Lethal vs Davey Richards

Jay Lethal beat Davey Richards with a Koji Clutch in a really good match. It went a little long and almost bordered into overkill mode but they did a nice job here. This was probably Jay Lethal's best match ever and gave me some hope in him. Richards was good here too. This is the type of match ROH is known for and they really did a stellar job here. Definitely worth checking out. Rating:***3/4

Next week will have Cole vs Edwards from Final Battle 2012 and more words from Matt Hardy.

Overall thoughts: There were only 2 new matches here. The first was a squash. The main was good though. I also liked Matt Hardy's interview segment. There wasn't much else here and there's really no need to see this show when you can see the whole thing on Glory By Honor instead.
