Impact Wrestling 3/2/2021

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2021/02/impact-wrestling-2232021.html

#1 Contender to the X-Division Title - Black Taurus vs Chris Bey vs Ace Austin with Mad Man Fulton

Taurus is 2v1'd early. Taurus slams Bey into the corner on Ace then flips Bey with a lariat. Ace and Bey double dropkick Taurus in the face then they both tope him at the same time in a neat spot. Bey backrolls into a headscissors but Ace shoves him off and he cartwheels out. Ace then tries something similar but Bey headflips out. They try to kick each other at the same time and catch each other's boot.

Ace topes Taurus on the outside, but Ace gets caught and is slammed onto Bey. Taurus drops Ace's knee on his knee then running back elbows him. Bey springboards Taurus from the top and gets caught in a suplex position, but Ace springboards and dropkicks Bey over. Ace gets pounce'd by Taurus then Taurus pops up Bey into a samoan drop.

Taurus goes over the top and Bey tries to springboard but Fulton knocks him off the ropes. Ace then hits a running blockbuster and wins it. Fun little three way match here with some neat spots.

Jordynne Grace and Jazz did a promo. They are now the #1 Contenders to the Knockouts Tag Titles. They said they knew Deonna P. beat up ODB last week. Kiera Hogan & Tasha Steelz then came in and said Grace and Jazz should worry about them instead of ODB. Grace says they are the only team Hogan and Steelz haven't beaten yet, but they said they'd rather see Deonna beat up Grace instead. Steelz and Hogan said they would be at ringside for this. Grace then said something to the effect of wanting to make it a three way.

Brian Myers ran into Matt Cardona in the back. Matt said he's stuck in the middle and he has got to try and call tonight's match straight down the middle. Myers asked him to not call it straight but Cardona said it wouldn't be professional.

Tenille Dashwood with Kaleb with a K vs Havok

Tenille hits Havok early and backs off when it doesn't have much effect. Kaleb distracts Havok then Tenille neckbreakers Havok over the middle rope. We go to break and come back with Tenille hitting the tarantula on Havok in the ropes. Tenille sits on Havok's neck on the ropes and Kaleb takes a picture of it.

Havok gets some offense in and almost get rolled up with Tenille's feet on the ropes. Havok misses a legdrop then Tenille hits a running boot to the face for the win. I feel like we missed a decent bit of this over the break but it wasn't anything special. Neveah comes out after and beats up Kaleb, taking off his neck brace. Then she hits a blade runner DDT. The visual on it was stupid because Kaleb is much bigger and stronger.

Sami Callihan does a video package.  He said he is at the Skull and Bones Wrestling Academy. He knocks off Trey Miguel's Match of the Year award as he said he didn't deserve it. He brings up The Rascalz, saying they kicked out Trey and moved on without him. He continues to destroy the office and asks someone for Trey. Trey is out of town and he throws tat person over a desk. Sami then comes into the ring area and beats up a couple of people. He calls Trey's trainer a broken down cripple then Sami beats up all the people in the ring. Someone comes in to put a stop to it and Sami backs off.

TJP is at Swinger's Palace. Ace Austin interrupts and says don't bet against the Ace in his match with TJP. TJP then said he bet that Ace would say that and won money. Bey said Ace isn't winning without help from Fulton. Ace and Bey want to fight but Swinger said there will be no fighting until they get some odds set up on this.

Violent By Design does a video package. EY said Deaner agreed to pay the consequences if he lost and he did. EY said failure is a disease then said this has to happen. Doering took him behind the wall and we heard a bunch of screams with Deaner crawling back. Eric Young Says he is only doing this because he cares.

Tony Schiavone and Tony Khan do a promo for AEW Revolution. They say Impact and NJPW are on AEW's side against "them". Tony said he is the captain and the leader now. Then they promote Dynamite. Khan really isn't a good promo or a good personality.

Moose does a video package. He said his problem isn't with Swann but the disrespect he got over the last year by not being seen as the real champion. He said he will become Impact champion at Sacrifice.

David Finlay, Juice Robinson and The Good Brothers vs XXXL and Reno Scum

Finlay's team tries to one up each other early. Juice hits a russian legsweep with a dropkick from Finlay. Romero takes a Doc splash in the corner. Finlay's team argues amongst each other more then Finlay gets a 4v1 in the corner. Doc takes out his opponents one by one then flying shoulders Adam.

The Good Brothers go for the magic killer but give it up to argue then they hit it on a second try to win. It made sense for the storyline they are pushing but this could have been a lot more entertaining.

The winners argue more after.

Rich Swann did a video package on Moose. He said he has more heart and determination than Moose.

FinnJuice and The Good Brothers argue in the back. The Good Brothers said they saved FinnJuice from losing and said they should carry their bags. Finlay said they should carry the tag title belts instead. Doc agreed to it at Sacrifice.

Special Referee is Matt Cardona - Brian Myers vs Eddie Edwards

Brian and Matt argue early. Myers hits a backdrop on Edwards. Edwards comes back with an atomic drop and an overhead belly to belly. Myers grabs a chair outside and Cardona yells at him. Eddie then does a flip dive over Matt during the argument. Then we go to break.

Back from break and Brian takes control. Eddie comes back with a northern lights suplex and a blue thunder bomb for 2. Brian hits a jumping reverse STO on Eddie for 2. Eddie hits a backpack stunner but Myers puts his foot on the ropes.  Myers loads up his elbow pad and nails Eddie and is dq'd. Matt and Brian argue after. This wasn't anything too special and was here to further the Matt/Brian story.

Deonna P. and crew were interviewed. She said her plans have changed now that she is in a triple threat instead of a singles match. She took credit for taking out ODB and Hogan and Grace would find out what happens when you mess with the virtuoso.

Deonna Purrazzo vs Kiera Hogan vs Jordynne Grace

Deonna is 2v1'd early and tossed out and we go straight to break which just sucks. We come back and now Grace is getting a 2v1. Grace slams down Hogan hard on a side slam. Doenna armbars Hogan but Grace breaks it up. Hogan gets pushed into a belly to belly slam/spinebuster by Grace, then Deonna puts Grace in the armbar. Hogan crossbodies Deonna off the top then does some kind of weird tilt-a-whirl facedrop on Grace.

Grace hits a chaos theory rolling german on Hogan. Deonna pump kicks Hogan but takes a spinebuster after. Hogan leapfrogs then high kicks Grace. Everyone's seconds fight on the floor then Grace tope's them all. Graces misses a vader bomb when Hogan is pulled out of the ring by her partner, then Deonna capitalizes and rolls up Grace for the win. Steelz and Grace then fight on the ramp. ODG then comes in and attacks Deonna, then she poses with Deonna's title.

The three way was okay but nothing really special. They are just tough matches to work with so many people involved and who knows what we missed over the break.

Overall thoughts:
This episode was just so-so. I liked the X-Division three way but the rest of the matches were kind of short and not that great. They are doing a lot of building here for the PPV and these kinds of shows tend to be like that.
