WWE NXT 2/8/2022

WWE NXT 2/8/2022

We saw Mandy Rose talking about what KLR did to her last week and said she would get the last laugh tonight. She said she would end KLR's career.

Dusty Classic Semifinals - The Creed Brothers vs The Grizzled Young Vets

Gibson tried to do his spiel but the Creeds brawled with them. Drake took a big back body drop and Brutus threw the scarf tat them. Brutus did a nice fireman's carry take down. His bro did a nice shoulder throw and suplexed Brutus onto Gibson.

The Vets blocked Gibson getting thrown into the corner. Julius threw Drake around and there was a double leapfrog spot that lead to Drake getting clotheslined over the top. The Creeds hit knees to the gut and rolled Gibson to the other after.

Brutus hit a nice spinning karelin's lift and took a double throat thrust by Gibson as he was coming back in the ring. brutus was put under the ring's metal frame and catapulted into it.

Brutus was bridged over the top rope and Drak double axe handled him from the top. Gibson got somewhat deadlift vertical suplexed by Brutus then Drake got on Brutus' back for a sleeper. Julius got the hot tag in and speared Drake then hit a standing stretch muffler. Drake was then tossed overhead as he tried to guillotine him. Julius hit a need suplex/slam on Drake.

Gibson and Julius fought outside then drake tope'd Julius into the announcer's table. The GYV's hit a doomsday device on Julius. Drake missed a corner move then Brutus and Gibson stared down before trading shots. Brutus hit double clubs on Gibson. Brutus speared Gibson into the corner then Julius jumped on his back to superplex Gibson off the top in a super cool move. Gibson then got thrown up into a fireman's slam and Brutus hit a big lariat to win it.

This was another great match from the Creed's. The superplex spot was amazing and these two teams really worked well together. You have to give it up for both teams here for making this special when it could have just been phoned in. The Creed's are stars and everyone did what they were supposed to here. One of the better matches of 2022 so far,

They had some dumb interview segment with Cora Jade and Raquel talking in spanish to Valentina Feroz and her partner.

Amari Miller and Wendy Choo said they had fun shopping with Tiffany Stratton's credit card from last week...until it got cancelled that is. They arrived with multiple shopping bags.

Wendy Choo vs Tiffany Stratton

Wendy gave a fan a teddy bear on the way in. Tiffany asked for her credit card and Wendy didn't find it in her pockets. Tiffany flipped off the top rope into an armdrag. Wendy is super over here. Wendy posed and rolled her up, then hit some sungle leg kicks. She then did her sleeping pose elbow drop.

Wendy put her in...a sleeper but Tiff got out. Tiff took an overhead suplex. Wendy went for a handspring elbow but got nailed by Tiff. Tiff then did a handspring elbow and did a tornillo vader bomb for the win. This was a short match with everyone hitting their spots fine. I didn't have any problems with this and Tiffany is doing well so far.

Draco Anthony was being interviewed in the locker room when Gacy and Harland walked in. They told him he doesn't have to do this all by himself and Gacy said he is here to listen. Harland just stared him down.

Pete Dunne was interviewed. He said Tony D'Angelo talks too much and said Tony hasn't been talking much anywhere lately. Pete said he finishes this where it started - in the cage. Draco Anthony then came in and said it will be an honor to share the ring with him and Dunne said he was still going to snap his fingers.

Pete Dunne vs Draco Anthony

This started during picture-in-picture break. Dunne was stetching him. We finally came back and Draco hit a nice delayed suplex. Dunne buzzaw kicked him then started pulling at his fingers. Dunne armbarred him and pulled on the fingers more. Draco came back with a big short arm lariat and sloppily dropped him forward on a backdrop.

Draco hit a nice exploder and Dunne went out. Tony D then came out to hit him with a crowbar, but Pete rammed him into the post and took him down. Pete hit the bounce back german then a bitter end for the win.

This was Draco's best outing yet, though that's not saying so much. The commercial really cut off a lot of this and it's hard to gage the quality when you are watching in picture-in-picture.

After the match, Tony put Dunne in the sleeper but Dunne split his fingers. Dunne threw a bunch of weapons into the ring and a toolbox. Dunne said Tony would need more than a crowbar at Vengeance Day and said they need to attach weapons to the cage and make it a weaponized steel cage match. Tony agreed.

Zoey Stark talked to Io in the back. They talked about possible Dusty Classic opponents and Zoey said Io needs someone as crazy as her. Io said she had someone in mind but wouldn't say who.

Wendy Choo ran into Dakota Kai in the back. Kai said the clothes she got won't buy her victories in the ring.

LA Knight vs Sanga with Grayson Waller

Sanga is wearing Braun Strowman gear. He's really wide and big, though not super tall and looks like an Indian Braun Strowman. Sanga hits a big knee in the corner and some stomps. Sanga headbutts him out and tries to ram him into the post, but ends up going in himself.

LA gets thrown on a cutter attempt and tries some clotheslines.  LA hit a springboard dropkick for 2. Waller unhooked a turnbuckle pad and Sanda ended up going into it. LA then hit a neckbreaker on him and got the surprise win. Sanga was fine but it really wasn't anything special and was about as simple as it gets wrestling wise. I don't like Sanga winning his debut under this character and I don't like big guys losing.

Knight and Waller brawled after and LA was victorious.

Duke Hudson was interviewed after. He said he hasn't seen Dante Chen anywhere. He said Chen isn't as tough as he says he is then Duke wished Indi Hartwell good luck.

Bron Breakker and Santos Escobar came out for the championship summit. Wade Barrett was the host here. Bron said he would beat him and there's nothing he could do about it. Bron then said let's just flip the table over and start fighting right now. Santos said he will do things on his time and has things under control. Santos said he was planning ways to end Bron's career before it started then Dolph Ziggler came out.

Ziggler told him to chase the clout and said apparently he works Tuesdays now. He said he has a plane to catch and asked him who are you? Bron said he is the NXT champ and the reason he is down here. Bron said he'd handle him after Santos.

Dolph talked about the titles he won but said he never won the NXT Title. The crowd chanted "triple threat" then Tommaso Ciampa came out. Santos asked what was going on here and said he'd handle them all.

Ciampa said he was next in line then kicked Dolph so hard Dolph fell out of the ring. They brawled outside then Bron got jumped. Bron had control but ended up taking a 3v1 and was spinebustered through the table. The ending was okay but got confusing with Dolph and Ciampa randomly showing up.

Kay Lee Ray did a vignette on Mandy Rose. She said she was going to make her suffer for not giving her a title shot sooner then broke a bunch of glass on the table with a baseball bat.

Grayson Waller was with Sanga and said LA Knight broke his restraining order. He said he was going to have him arrested next week live on Vegeance Day.

Sarray vs Dakota Kai

Sarray again transformed through the entrance. This started during picture in picture break with Kai in control. Kai did an  unusual roll into an armbar. Sarray tried her dropkick near the ropes but Kai moved. Kai then facewash kicked her.

Sarray hit some forearms on Kai then did a sloppy roll-up into a double stomp. She then did a top rope dropkick. Kai did some handstand kicks then a twisting neckbreaker for 2. Sarry did an ugly sunset flip off the 2nd rope and they traded pin attempts.  Sarray spin kicked her to the chest then dropkicked her through the ropes.

Sarray hit a big exploder and won it. Sarray didn't look good at all here as she was sloppy, which was really unlike her. I also didn't like a portion of this match taking place during the break.

We saw Trick Williams and Hayes at the babershop.  They talked about whether Cameron Grimes has a chance or not. They looked up Grimes' wikipedia and asked where his accolades are. He talked more trash on Grimes and got his hair cut. The segment wasn't great but Hayes and Trick are comfortable on the mic.

Indi was on the phone and ran into Persia Pirotta. Persia asked if she was talking to Dexter or Duke. Toxic Attraction then came in. Persia and Indi said they would beat them for the titles and told them they could console Mandy when she loses her title tonight. They then showed a picture of Indi with Duke Hudson and the girls all brawled.

Nikkita Lyons did another vignette. We saw her doing kickboxing and she talked about her life growing up on the road.

Briggs was trying to talk Jensen into asking Kayden Carter out.  They said they had fun and wanted to hang out next week and Jensen said he wanted to marry Kayden. Jensen gave Briggs money to take Kacy to the movies so he could get alone time with Kayden. Briggs complained that he only gave him $8, and it was sweaty.

Dusty Classic Semifinals - MSK vs Malik Blade and Edris Enofe

MSK hit their bronco buster combo early. Enofe tried to hurricanrana Carter, but he forward flipped and caught himself. MSK kick combo'd Blade and Carter double stomped Blade's back and dropkicked Enofe. We then went to picture in picture break.

We came back with Lee in control on Enofe. He hit a big reverse slam. Blade did a big tope con hilo on Lee outside then Enofe/Blade hit a suplex/cutter combo. Enofe did a top rope splash for 2. MSK hit their assisted corkscrew blockbuster move for the win.

This was probably Enofe and Blade's best outing yet and they did okay here, but MSK is obviously on a different level compared to them. This was fast and action packed.

MSK argued with The Creed Brothers in front of the Dusty trophy after.

Cameron Grimes was walking around in his trailer park he said he grew up in. He said he is a self-made man and said he has everything but the NXT North American Title. He said he'd give up his riches for the belt and said he has a one way ticket to the moon in a good vignette.

Dakota Kai went past Wendy Choo in the back. Wendy took her stuff and said "not as easy as it looks, is it?".

Toxic Attraction were jumped in the back by Persia and Indi and Mandi was told to head to the ring.

NXT Women's Title - Mandy Rose (c) vs Kay Lee Ray

KLR hit some slaps and chops to start. Mandy slapped her back, then Thesz pressed her and punched her. KLR came back with forearms then did a tornado ddt off the ropes. KLR tope'd Mandy through the ropes near the post. Mandy then banged the back of KLR's head against the middle buckle which looked a little dangerous.

Mandy spinebustered her for 2. We were told Toxic Attraction, Persia and Indi were asked to leave the building. Mandy hit an interesting side suplex Mandy put KLR in the abdominal stretch and dropped some elbows on her ribs. KLR came back with a moonsault off the 2nd buckle for 2 then put her in the koji clutch. KLR had a gori bomb reversed into a sunset bomb for 2. KLR superkicked Mandy for 2. Toxic Attraction somehow snuck in and knocked KLR off the top. Mandy then hit a pumping knee and won it.

This wasn't too well thought or anything and they did have some sloppy moments, but it wasn't too bad.

Io Shirai then came down as Toxic Attraction were going to hit KLR with the baseball bat. Io cleaned house and springboard dropkicked both T-A members. Mandy then got a gori bomb and T-A ran off the end the show.

Overall thoughts: The Creeds/Vets is a must see. Sarray/Kai was the only true stinker here. The show didn't feel like a great show though. The contract signing was a mess and the Briggs/Jensen dating saga wasn't that entertaining either.
