FREEDOMS 2/3/2022 - Go Beyond The Limit 2022

Hardcore Match - Mammoth Sasaki, Takashi Sasaki & Tatsuhito Takaiwa vs. ERE (Toshiyuki Sakuda & Violento Jack) & Orca Uto

Takaiwa's team is attacked after the intros. Sakuda headscissors Takaiawa out then Jack and Sasaki trade chops. We have a tug of war over a ladder and Sakuda stupidly dropkicks some of the people holding it then lands back first on the ladder. Sasaki is slammed on the ladder by Sakuda and Sasaki fights off his opponents 3v1 with chops. Sasaki is put under a ladder then the ladder is hit with chairs.

Sasaki gets beat down for a while and comes back and germans then lariats Jack. Mammoth hits opponents with the ladder then dropkicks the ladder as they hold it. Jack gets a ladder top kicked into his crotch. Mammoth gets beat down for a bit and Sakuda 619's him. Sakuda takes a huge back body drop on a ladder from Mammoth. Sakuda then tries to hurricanrana Takaiwa off the top but gets powerbombed super hard into the buckles. Takaiawa then drops a top rope elbow on him for 2.

Sakuda shiranui's Takaiwa then misses a springboard swanton. The two trade forearms and Takaiawa lariats him. Sasaki ddt's Sakuda then Sakuda staple guns him in the head. Sakuda then to rope dropkicks him. Sasaki takes corner charging moves from his 3 opponents and a chair pyramid is set up. Sasaki is supposed to get whipped into it but counters it and dropkicks Sakuda and Jack into it. He then throws a chair at Orca.

Sakuda springboard crossbodies Takaiwa and takes a stiff Sasaki knee. Jack slams Sasaki on a chair and Orca suplexes Mammoth on a chair. Orca puts a chair around Mammoth's neck and then chairs it. Mammoth puts a chair on Orca's head then chairs it. He then suplexes him on the chair for the win.

This was fun. Kind of reminded me of an old FMW style match. They kept it at a decent pace and with 6 people involved, they didn't have to worry about the selling or storytelling as much, which helped it a lot. Add in some stiff shots and some weapons shots and this worked out well.

King Of FREEDOM Tag Team Title Match - Tomoya Hirata & Toru Sugiura (c) vs. Kengo & Yuya Susumu

Toru and Kengo trade forearms and Kengo is dropkicked. Yuya hanging armbars Hirata over the ropes then Toru is double back elbowed. Toru gets beat down for a while and takes a 2v1 with a double back elbow and a double bulldog.

Yuya and Toru trade forearms and Toru hits an overhead release northern lights suplex. Hirata comes in and takes on both opponents, hitting shoulders and bodyslams on both. Hirata brainbusters Yuya, then Yuya comes back with a neckbreaker. Yuya misses a double stomp and gets speared by Hirata, who tags out.

Toru and Kengo trade forearms and Kengo face kicks him. Toru no sells it and spinning forearms him. Toru hurricanrana's Kengo off the top then Kengo comes back with a dropkick on him on the ropes. Toru gets 2v1'd but dropkicks both out. Toru and Hirata then both hit dives on their opponents. Toru and Hirata try to sandwich Yuya with spinning forearms, but they end up nailing each other. Kengo and Yuya then superkicked Hirata.

Hirata hits a big powerslam on Yuya then Yuya is sandwiched double spinning forearmed. Hirata hits him with a stiff powerbomb but Kengo breaks up the pin. Kengo gets thrown by Toru into Hirata then is german'd hard. Hirata hits a big lariat on Yuya and gets rolled up and crossfaced on the pin attempt.

Hirata puts Yuya on his shoulders in the fireman's carry and does a stiff side slam. Hirata then top rope moonsaults him for the win.

This wasn't bad at all. I think it could have been better if Yuya and Kengo heel'd it up a little more and if the faces made their comebacks closer to the finish. Hirata was real stiff here and the Toru/Hirata pairing is a fun heavyweight team.

Glass Hell Death Match - Minoru Fujita vs Rina Yamashita

You guys know how I feel about intergender wrestling. Fujita comes to the ring with a blue bird's head mask on.

They shake hands and Rina pulls him and german's him. fujita stalls outside and Rina chases him then Fujita bridge ddt's her for 2. Rina takes a high exploder then Fujita gets something on a stick with a saw on it then Fujita is german'd through a glass pane. She then rubbed and banged his head in glass on the mat then banged her own head on the glass.

Rina gave him a flower bouqet then hit him with it. Rina pulled Fujita's back through glass then bumped in the glass on purpose for an unknown reason. She challenged Fujita to do it too but he snapmared her and dropkicked her in the head instead. Fujita then rolled Rina (and himself) in the glass.

A pile of chairs was set up and Fujita was backdropped on them and only sold it the 2nd time he was backdropped. Rina set up a glass pane on some chairs and was suplexed through it...though Fujita took most of it. Fujia had also poured some liquid (likely lemon juice) on it which made it worse.

Rina put glass in Fujita's mouth then punched him and superkicked him. Fujita then put glass in her mouth and punched in the gut, making her spit it out. Fujita tombstone's Rina. Rina gets some roll-ups and hits an enzugiri then a lariat. Fujita rolls her right up though and wins it.

This wasn't good. The rolling in the glass stuff was dumb since both of them either did it purposely or accidentally. They didn't try to work the man vs woman stuff at all and the finish was out of nowhere and really didn't make sense since Rina should be the one rolling him up.

King Of FREEDOM World Title #1 Contendership Lighttubes & Concrete War Death Match- Daisuke Masaoka vs Takayuki Ueki

They mat wrestle to start. D< gets whipped into the tubes then dropkicks Ueki in. He breaks a tube over his head then vader bomb elbows him. Ueki gets whipped into tubes then runs himself into the topes to hit a flying shoulder on DM. Ueki breaks a concrete block over DM's back then stabs him in the head with a block. He breaks another block over DM's back.

Ueki goes to ram DM's head into tubes but is pushed in instead. DM then asai moonsaults him on the outside. DM throws Ueki some tubes then dropkicks them into him from the top. Ueki then drops a ladder down and sits on it that is covered in tubes for a 2 count.

They fight on top of a ladder and Ueki drops DM's head on some tubes on top of it. He then cradle shocks him off the ladder. Ueki rams some tubes into him, runs himself into one and crossbodies him on the ropes. He DDT's him over the middle rope and almost falls into a table with tubes outside.

Ueki takes a schwein off the apron through the table with tubes. They then go back in and DM gets slammed chest first on a tube tower. They trade forearms on their knees. Ueki gives him skewer sticks and they both pound them in each others heads like idiots. Both of them headbut the other with them on their heads. DM then got picked up like a piledriver with a block on his stomach and was dropped on another block.

They battle with blocks and DM breaks a block with a block near Ueki's head. Ueki then gets rolled off the top onto concrete blocks and then gets a fire thunder driver on the blocks. He no sells and gets another on the blocks and a very high angle pedigree on the blocks....and kicks out. DM then hits a top rope meteora and wins it.

As expected, this was terrible no selling, little logic and tons of dangerous spots. The no selling was really really bad here. I didn't like Ueki ramming himself into the tubes either.

Overall thoughts: It's always ironic when you watch deathmatch promotions and enjoy the non-deathmatch stuff more. Of the 4 of 6 matches I saw, the two non deathmatch matches were far better than the deathmatches, which were filled with no selling and a total lack of logic.
