AEW Rampage 2/18/2022

This is on at 7PM instead of 10PM.

10 vs Adam Cole

Slow start here. Cole and 10 trade corner strikes and Cole is release german suplexed. 10 gets his leg banged off the post and Cole neckbreakers him. 10 comes back with a delayed suplex. 10 tries to charge at him but limps and gets pump kicked.

We went to PiP break and returned to 10 making a comeback. He hit some punches and a spinebuster. Cole went for a panama sunrise but was back body dropped. 10 then came back with a spinning lariat and Cole took a bad looking bump on his neck for it.

Cole hit a flying knee then was speared on a panama sunrise attempt for 2. 10 put Cole in the full nelson then they trapped the ref in the corner. Cole low blowed him then hit some superkicks to the back of the head. He then hit the boom knee and won it. O'Reilly and Fish celebrated with him on the stage after.

10 didn't look bad here but I didn't think it was a great match and I didn't think they flowed too well together.

Face of the Revolution Qualifying Match - Dante Martin vs Powerhouse Hobbs

Hobbs rushed Dante and corner stomped him. Dante did a neat blind springboard backwards into a dropkick and was knocked off the top during a springboard. He then got rammed hard off the apron into the aisle. Hobbs then threw him in the ring from the floor.

Hobbs then did two huge throws inside. We went to break and returned and Hobbs ran into Dante with a crossbody and took him down. Dante came back with a springboard euro uppercut then did a springboard tornillo on the outside to him. Back in and Hobbs hit a big spinebuster for the win.

This had some good stuff in it then just randomly ended out of nowhere and hurt it. It needed more time or a different finish.

Jade Cargill was interviewed. She asked who is next then Matt Hardy and The Bunny came in. He made the challenge for Bunny to get a ttle shot. Mark Sterling was interested and asked where they can sign the contract.

5 Minute Rookie Challenge - Sereena Deeb vs Angelica Risk

They traded full nelson's and Deeb hit a big clothesline on her in the corner. Deeb toyed around with her then hit a hard powerbomb. She then won it with the tequila sunrise in a quick squash.

We got a small video on Danielson and Mox.

Jay White and Trent did split screen promos. Jay said he can do what he wants. He said he is here to dispose of Trent. Trent said welcome to AEW and the Forbidden Door. He said he is slamming the door in his face.

Jay White vs Trent Beretta

Jay pounds on him early and Trent comes back with chops and forearms. Jay had Trent in a guillotine and Trent suplexed him overhead. Jay then rammed Trent's back into the rails and ring apron. Trent then hit a lariat on White on the floor. They went back and Trent got saito suplexed over the top to the floor.

Trent did a very high asain moonsault outside and Jay didn't catch him. Trent went splat right on his stomach which had to suck. Jay came back with a flatliner and a deadlift german for 2. Trent then hit a tornado ddt for 2. Jay was laying against the bottom rope and was dropkicked out.

Trent went for a spear outside but took a knee from Jay. Jay then suplexed him into a chair. Jay hit a uranage for 2 then took a backdrop. Jay took a half and half suplex then a knee for 2. They traded forearms and Jay was lariated and piledriven. Jay reversed a schwein into a very nice bladerunner out of nowhere for the win.

They hit each other hard and were very stiff but there wasn't any particular story to it. It was alright, just not great. I thought Jay should have gotten more of a squash win since this is his debut...and he definitely shouldn't have had his first match here.

Overall thoughts: There wasn't anything wrong with this one outside of Jay debuting on this and not getting an easier win.
