WWE Monday Night Raw 3/22/2021

Sheamus vs Bobby Lashley
Sheamus has welts all over him from the cane shots last night. Lashley pounds on him early and hit a nice leapfrog. Bobby slows it down with a chinlock. Sheamus gets knocked from the apron to the floor where Shelton lariats him.
We go to break and return and Bobby hits a powerslam. Cedric goes to interfere and Bobby tells him to get off the apron. Sheamus uses this to roll him up. Lashley accidentally spears the post and Sheamus takes back over, hitting chestclubs. Lashley goes to the floor and Sheamus clotheslines him off the top.
Sheamus then clotheslines him from the top inside the ring for 2. Sheamus hits a brogue knee for 2. Cedric distracts Sheamus by reaching in and Bobby hits a spinebuster then a full nelson. Sheamus taps. This wasn't as good as it could have been. I think Sheamus was finished from last night and that's fine as he shouldn't have been expected to take a whooping two nights in a row.
Sheamus then gets beat up on by Shelton and Cedric outside. Drew runs down to help out. He throws Cedric over the barricade and Shelton backs off. Drew then goes in the ring and stares and argues with Lashley as MVP tries to keep him back. MVP tells Bobby to save it for Mania.
The Hurt Business meet up in the back. Bobby isn't happy with Cedric and Shelton getting involved. He said he didn't need their help. MVP said they tarnished the image of Bobby Lashley, making it seem like he can't win fair. MVP said they embarrassed themselves and Lashley and need to make it up.
We went over the history of the Fiend/Orton feud.
Asuka vs Peyton Royce
Royce asked for Asuka 2 weeks ago and is getting her here. Asuka evades her early and dances around. Royce hits a neat bridging leg lock and a suplex for 2. Royce takes a spinning back fist on the apron. Asuka tries to butt bump her but is caught in the ropes and neckbreakered to the floor for a nasty landing. We go to break.
We get a Miz and Morrison car commercial with them at a golf course. We come back and both girls are down. Asuka german suplexes her and knees her for 2. Royce evades a top rope dropkick and then hits a gori drop on Asuka's knees. Asuka comes back with a codebreaker for 2. Royce double stomps Asuka's back from the top but Asuka kicks out.
Royce argues with the ref and is caught with an armbar. That turns into a chickenwing and Asuka wins it. This was the most Royce has gotten to do in months here and they tried to make her look good here. It wasn't great but likely one of the better matches Royce was involved in.
Rhea Ripley then came down. She used to be so pretty and looks awful now. Asuka was shocked by her presence. Rhea said Asuka is one of the best champions in WWE history. She said Charlotte challenged Asuka while Asuka's teeth were knocked out. Rhea said Charlotte isn't here though and challenged her for Wrestlemania. Asuka says Rhea is not ready for Asuka but says she accepts and was quite happy about it. I think it's obviously garbage that Rhea hasn't won jack on the main roster yet is getting a title shot.
Adam Pearce went up to Drew McIntyre in the back. He said Cedric and Shelton challenged Drew to a 2v1 handicap match, and he wanted to run that by Drew. Drew said he will accept it if it means Cedric and Shelton are banned from ringside at Wrestlemania.
MizTV
Miz and Morrison ripped Bad Bunny. Miz wasn't happy that Priest and Bunny are the on the poster for Wrestlemania and they aren't. They said they are tired of celebs trying to do wrestling and said they will debut a music video called "hey hey hop hop", which is supposed to be a diss track on Bad Bunny. They showed a preview and it looks really bad with them wearing bunny costumes. Miz said he is challenging Bad Bunny to a match at Mania. He said he would end his wrestling and musical career in their match and said to catch a sneak preview in the next match.
Jeff Hardy vs The Miz with John Morrison
Hardy bangs Miz's head off the buckles to start and Miz comes back with two face kicks. Hardy fights back with punches and dropkicks Miz. Hardy splashed Miz off the 2nd rope. Miz came back, throwing Hardy into the post then he hit the skull crushing finale. Odd to see Miz win this one so easy over Hardy after getting treated like a joke against Lashley.
Miz talks trash in the camera then Bad Bunny hits him with a guitar to the back, after Miz did the same to him a week or two ago. Bad Bunny then said he accepted The Miz's challenge for Wrestlemania.
Riddle drives past AJ and Omos in the back on his scooter. AJ says he's going to make the New Day look bad tonight.
We go to break and when we return, AJ Styles is talking with Omos in the ring. He says it will be Omos' debut and is very excited. AJ says Omos will drive Kofi and Xavier through the ring and bury them. AJ said they can't lose and The New Day come out.
Kofi talked in a stupid Brtish accent and said AJ and Omos aren't a team. They said AJ hides behind Omos. AJ got mad and Xaiver said AJ would bring Omos down. Kofi said AJ doesn't know Omos. The New Day quizzes AJ on what he knows about Omos and he gets all of it wrong. AJ got mad and started doing the New Day's taunt and chant as we went to break.
They talk about Eric Bischoff going into the hall of fame.
AJ Styles with Omos vs Kofi Kingston with Xaiver Woods
We go to break and control with Kofi getting some shots on AJ. Kofi comes back with more shots and a jumping clothesline. Kofi then hits the boom drop. They both go for flying kicks and collide in mid-air in a neat spot. Kofi dives onto AJ's back from the 2nd rope for 2. AJ rolls Kofi into a calf crusher but Kofi hits the ropes.
AJ went for a springboard but was distracted by Xaiver playing music. He then did the springboard and was caught with an SOS for the Kofi win.
We missed some of this due to the break but the springboard into the SOS was a cool spot and the colliding kicks were cool. This wasn't the best match they could have done but it had its highlights.
Sheamus was interviewed in the back. He said he was beaten up last night but lives to fight and wasn't backing down on a chance to fight Bobby tonight. Sheamus said he didn't ask for Drew's help to fight off The Hurt Business, but Drew respects him. Riddle then comes in to annoy Sheamus by asking dumb questions. Sheamus tells him to stop. Sheamus asks if the scooter is easy to ride then he nails Riddle with the scooter handles. This wasn't a good segment. Riddle was being a jerk here for no reason and had it coming.
Handicap Match: Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin vs Drew McIntyre
No MVP here. Shelton throws his shirt at Drew. Drew hits a suplex early then does a high back body drop to Cedric, handling this 1v2. Drew stomps on Shelton's hand and stops Shelton's short comeback with a clothesline. Cedric pulls out Shelton and Drew goes after Shelton.
Cedric clips Drew and Shelton knee's Drew out. Cedric then dives on Drew. Drew gets thrown into the rails as we go to break. Back from break and Drew's fighting off Cedric. Drew takes a 2v1. Shelton pounds on Drew but Drew comes back again. Drew headbutts him and both go down. Cedric gets in and flips on a lariat then takes a nice bump on an overhead belly to belly. Drew hits claymore kicks on both opponents and wins it.
This was bad. It made Shelton and Cedric look like goofs and they didn't book them to make it even seem like they had a prayer here. WWE loves to bury those tag teams.
MVP rips Shelton and Cedric in the back. Lashley flips out on them and said he will find someone to get the job done. Lashley goes into the locker room and says anyone who can take out Drew will get a WWE title shot. All of the geeks were back there, so don't look too much into this.
Mandy Rose and Dana Brooke vs Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler with Reginald
Lana and Naomi are on commentary. Reginald backflips down the ramp. Reg is wearing a grey suit with very red sneakers. Dana cartwheels on Shayna to start then Shayna does a nice spinning backbreaker. Reg gets in the ring and does a neat little flip and Mandy nails Shayna with a forearm. She then hits a double knee on Nia for 2.
Mandy goes after Reg on the apron and he does a flip out of it then Nia samoan drops Dana for the win. There was barely any match here amongst the shenanigans. Lana and Naomi say they want their rematch as Nia and Reg dance.
We go to Alexa's Playground. Alexa says she is still here. She says you can't always get what you want and Randy should be careful when asking for The Fiend tonight. She then does the "let me in" Fiend voice.
Shane McMahon, Elias and Ryker were in the ring. Shane told Elias never to interrupt him and ripped him for losing last night. Shane said he had time to prepare for tonight's match.
Shane said he and Elias created a song called "Braun is Stupid". They had a big ending for that hit single saying "Braun is soooooo stupiddd".
Braun then came out and said he had a song for Elias called "The Man Who Got These Hands".
Braun Strowman vs Elias with Jaxson Ryker and Shane McMahon
Braun has control early, destroying Elias with ease. Elias gets thrown out. Elias knocks down Braun with a knee in the corner and flurries him., then he takes a hard dropkick. Braun pounces Ryker onto a table then does the same to Elias into a rail. They play a train sound for Braun nailing them then Braun wins with a powerslam. The sound effects were so bad here and not explainable in any way. Someone said "Is this Nickelodeon?" and that was so true.
Shane nails Braun with a clutch and he doesn't budge. Shane then somehow runs away despite having a hurt leg. Braun says it looks like his leg is okay. He says he has had enough and says he wants him at Wrestlemania, as he points to the sign. Shane says he accepts in any kind of match Braun wants because Braun is stupid. I'll tell you what's stupid and it's this whole angle and the sound effects too.
Randy Orton is shown carrying a bag around in the back as he tries to confront The Fiend.
We run down the Mania card and Orton brings out a bag. Orton said he smelled the burnt flesh of The Fiend last night. He said the bs ends tonight and Bliss comes out with a jack in the box. The lights go out when the jack comes out. The Fiend then appears as fire shoots.
Orton opens the bag and it's gasoline inside. Orton spills gas on him and Fiend doesn't budge. Orton hits an RKO then Bliss comes inside the ring and Orton catches her. The Fiend gets back up and puts the mandible claw on Orton and the Sister Abigail. Bliss then points to the Wrestlemania sign as fire shoots out in a stupid moment and they pose to end the show. Why is she pointing at the sign/. Why does The Fiend need a match when he just took out Orton?
They announce The Fiend vs Randy Orton for Wrestlemania to close the show.
Overall thoughts: This show sucked. The sound effects for Braun were bad. The Hurt Business getting handled 1v2 was bad. The Orton/Fiend stuff was bad and The Riddle stuff was bad. Sheamus/Bobby wasn't even that great since Sheamus was beaten up from the night before. Kofi/AJ was the only good thing on here and it was not enough.
