NWA Back For The Attack 3/21/2021

NWA Back For The Attack 3/21/2021

We are back with the original NWA Power set. Joe Galli and Tim Storm are the commentators. I'll be shocked if this does well. It's on at a weird time, with a lot of people who aren't really names and the promotion hasn't been around for a year. Making this a PPV was also a mistake. I hope it does well though.

Nick Aldis is interviewed to start. He said things were a little different since the last time we saw each other. He said we had some set backs, but it was just a set up for a comeback. He said everyone is here  to deliver and we're here to deliver for Jocephus, who this show is in tribute for.

He said Aaron Stevens will have to bring the best version of himself to win tonight.

Four Way Match: Slice Boogie vs. Jordan Clearwater vs. Jax Dane vs. Crimson

Crimson and Jax go at it early and crossbody each other at the same time. Slice hits a nice stomach punch and gets exploder suplexed. Slice slingshots in and german suplexes Clearwater. He then jumps off of Clearwater's back and gets caught in a spinebuster.

Clearwater tries to punch Jax but he isn't bothered. Clearwater crossbodies Crimson off the middle rope and gets caught with a death valley driver. Jax and Crimson do a nice double team on Slice that ends with a hard Jax lariat. Clearwater facekicks  Jax then takes a missile dropkick and a weird hybrid piledriver/powerbomb from Slice for the win. This was pretty short but it was all action without a dull moment. Dane and Crimson seemed to be pointing at each other after to continue this.

Mae Valentine did a backstage interview. She had Sal Rinauro join her. Sal pimped the card. Mae really comes across as tattoed Maryse.

Tyrus does a promo. He said he wasn't happy that he wasn't given an interview before the match. He said he is tired of the disrespect here.

Singles Match: Tyrus vs. JR Kratos

A true super heavyweight match which we don't see a lot of these days. JR can't get too far with Tyrus early then knocks him into the ropes. JR goes for a slam but hurts his already injured elbow trying to do it and Tyrus works the arm. Tyrus get some extra leverage in an armlock with the ropes and JR tries to fight back.

Tyrus hits a scoop slam and JR gets out of the way on Tyrus' vader bomb.  Jr hits a clothesline off the 2nd rope on the bad arm and sells it. Tyrus hit a nice splash in the corner which put JR's injured shoulder into the buckles then won it with an elbow drop. This was short and solid for what it was.

Trevor Murdoch was interviewed in the back. He's the National Champion and said Adonis wants to make his mark in the company off of him tonight. He said he's not an easy target and said Adonis will question challenging him tonight.

NWA World Television Championship Match: Elijah Burke (c) vs. Thom Latimer

This has a time limit of 605 seconds or 10:05.

Pope started out hot and Thom took control for a while. Pope really sold a punch well here. Thom got german suplexed into the buckles and hit his head off of all 3 buckles. Pope ran the buckles then hit a superplex. Pope missed an Elijah Express in the corner then took a big powerbomb for 2 with under a minute left. Pope went up and over in the corner then turned it into a code red for 2. They traded punches and went to a 10:05 draw here. This was actually a fun little match with both guys looking decent.

Aron Stevens did a promo. He choked out for Jocephus' son early. He said people think he is an underdog but he has never quit and turned crap into gold. He said he will make gold tonight and will do his talking in the ring.

NWA World Women’s Championship #1 Contender’s Match: Thunder Rosa vs. Kamille

Taryn Terrell was at the booth for this. She was in WWE and TNA. I remember the name but nothing else.

Kamille stomped on her and bullied her around early and Rosa came back with a cross armbreaker. Rosa was slammed into the buckles with the armbreaker on. Kamille charged hard into the post and then they fought on the floor. Rosa dove off the apron onto Kamille and was dropped onto the hard floor. Rosa put a bow and arrow on her over the post.

Kamille took back over with some back clubs and euro uppercuts then gutwrench suplexed Rosa. Rosa came back with an STF and curb stomped her. Kamille took back over and hit her with Sheamus' chest clubs on the ropes. Kamille got leaned up on the middle rope and Rosa dropkicked her. Rosa hit a nice missile dropkick off the top and then a backstabber but it was only for 2. Kamille hit a nice spear then nailed her again to win. This was a little long and they switched control from each wrestler  a little too much but it was better than some other women's matches I've seen.

Austin Idol was interviewed. He said we are here in Idolwood in Hotlanta. He said he is a special guest brought by Aron Stevens. He said he is stoked for the main tonight.

NWA National Championship Match: Trevor Murdoch (c) vs. Chris Adonis

Slow start here then they started arguing after a shoulder block. Trev went for something off the top but missed and landed hard on his knee. Adonis took back control with some holds and Trev came back with some clotheslines. He then hit a nice crossbody off the top for 2 that really had some force behind it.

Chris went for the masterlock and Trev rolled him up out of nowhere to win. They shook hands after but Adonis jumped him, choking him and raking the eyes. Masters then full nelson slammed him then put him in the masterlock. Austin Idol walked out during this, seemingly a little early.

The ending was really out of nowhere and they were building to a match that needed 5-10 more minutes.

Austin Idol joined the commentators for this one. He talked about managing Aldis to help him win the title and they seemingly teased a little tension between Idol and Tim Storm. Idol said Aron is the underdog and has nothing to lose here. He said Aron reached out to him for tips but said Aron has as good of a chance of beating Aldis as anyone else.

They did a salute to Jocephus.

NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship Match: Nick Aldis (c) vs. Aron Stevens

Aldis has been champ for 882 days now. The ref did a nice bit here saying this isn't just for the title, but for the memory of Jocephus. They have about 25 minutes for this.

Aldis got out of a wristlock and shouldered down Aron early. Aron counters him after and they go face to face. Aron went for a moonsault and landed hard when Aldis moved. Aron had his back rammed into the post outside, then she side slammed from the floor to the apron on his back.

Aldis took control back for a little and Aron came back with an atomic drop and a superkick. They double clotheslined each other and both went down. They traded punches and Aron hit a short ddt for 2. Aron slapped on the figure four but Aldis reversed it. Aron superplexed him off the top. Nick came back with a 2nd rope elbow for 2. Aron reversed a pile driver and hit a spinning forearm for 2. Aron got caught in a cloverleaf but hit the ropes and rolled out.

Nick and Aron both went into the post outside and Stevens barely beat the count. Nick escaped the crossface but got caught in it again. Aron went for the rollup but Nick reversed it and won. They shook hands and everyone came in with the Mongrovian flag and tributed Jocephus to end the show.

The match wasn't the greatest match ever and could have been improved, but the pacing was good and the announcers really put it over to make it better than it was.

Overall thoughts: This was not a home run but the main event ended up being pretty good and the women's match wasn't bad. Tim Storm did a fantastic job here as an announcer.
