Next week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2025/10/wwe-evolve-10222025.html
NOTE - WWE cut a bunch of Evolve talents this week and some talents opted not to renew. These include Zayda Steel, Zara Zakher, Drako Knox, Jamar Hampton, Kylie Rae, Stevie Turner, Wes Lee, Jin Tala, Haze Jameson and Summer Sorrell. Evolve is going to look a lot different moving forward. I was shocked to see Jamar get cut as I thought he was going to be a big star. I think Zayda made a terrible decision in leaving. Stevie Turner did fine in her role. Summer seemed to have potential too. Haze was likeable and had personality, but she wasn't athletic at all and was never going to be a great wrestler.
This is Evolve's first special and hopefully the first of many to come.
We're at the Performance Center for this. Blake Howard and Robert Stone are on commentary.
WWE Evolve Title - Jackson Drake (c) vs Bryce Donovan
Drake slaps him as soon as the bell rings. BD then black hole slams him for 2. BD hits a corner lariat and throws him. BD hits a corner lariat and flapjacks Drake. BD hits chest clubs. Brad Baylor gets on the apron and is hit. BD facekicks Smokes outside then Drake topes BD. The Vanity Project pose and Keanu Carver tries to come out with security holding him back. Drake armlocks BD.
We go to break and return. Drake dropkicks him in the knee and dragon screws him. BD tries to grab Smokes from the ring. Drake is pushed face first into the 2nd buckle. BD facekicks Drake then back body drops him. BK flying lariats him. BD pop-up powerbombs him and low forearms him for 2.
Drake flips out of a chokeslam and dropkicks him out. Drake topes him but is caught and chokeslammed on the apron. BD misses a charge and goes into the steps. Drake dropkicks his knee into the steps. Drake top rope swantons the knee for 2.
Drake kicks BD in the knee and slaps him around. BD splits Drake's fingers when he taunts him and flips him with a lariat. They trade shots. Drake high kicks him. Drake goes to the 2nd rope and is chokeslammed down for 2 when he puts Drake's own feet onto the ropes on accident. Drake clips him and flying knees him from behind. Drake hits another low flying knee and pins him.
Thoughts: Drake worked the knee here all through then won with knees while Bryce was down. Bryce mostly did big man stuff here. The match was fine but nothing particularly great. I can't say I love Bryce losing after he just turned face and left The Vanity Project. That does not get him off to a good start.
Stevie Turner, who is now fired, talks to Bigg Jah. I don't know who that is. He says he's a fan of Evolve and says the title match was fire. Stevie says they should go watch the rest of the show.
Adrenaline Drip does a video. Jones says they evened the score vs Jax and Riggins. Jack says he thought the caffeine would do more for him. He said they proved it was their speed and agility over their strength. Jones says they are just 1-1 with them. They say they gotta beat them one more time.
Layla Diggs, Chuey Martinez, Masyn Holiday and Wendy Choo are in the back. Masyn asks how they feel about the show. Chuey picks Kali. Wendy is asked who she thinks she will and she's a bit speechless. Chantel Monroe comes in and asks if Wendy finally has something to say. She doesn't and Chantal says that's what she thought. Wendy says AJ Lee says therapy works. Masyn wants to go say hi to Big Jahh.
Bull Rope Match - Brooks Jensen vs Tate Wilder
Tate sweeps him with the rope then tries to whip him. BJ boots him in the gut. Tate flips him with the rope and dropkicks him. BJ teases walking out but can't because of the rope. They tug over the rope and Tate is pulled hard into the ropes.
We go to break and return. BJ chokes Tate on the ropes. BJ punches him with the rope. Tate baseball slides BJ. BJ clotheslines him with the rope. BJ fist drops him. Tate hangs on the 2nd rope and BJ springboard elbow drops him down.
BJ wraps the rope around Tate's face and pulls. BJ hits downward elbows. BJ whips him with the rope. Tate fires up and punches him with the rope. Tate whips him with it Tate suplexes him then standing moonsaults him for 2.
They trade punches. Tate boots him in the chest. Tate springboards and is whipped with the belt for 2. BJ is pulled off the buckles and Tate powerbombs him. Tate top rope moonsaults and pins BJ.
Thoughts: It was fine. It wasn't super memorable or anything but both guys did what they were supposed to. We didn't get any blood here and nothing too crazy minus some belt shots and a moonsault. I am bit a surprised Tate won but this is Evolve and they should be pushing the younger guys. You gotta give it to Tate for being able to have full length matches without any real issues.
They say the next group of WWE ID prospects will be announced soon.
Sean Legacy talks to Stevie Turner in the back. He says he wants to punch Edris Enofe. Bigg Jah comes in and says they should have a match next week. Stevie agrees and says Bigg Jah should be the Big GM next week. Diggs and Masyn come in and try to get a part in his movie. Jah asks if they will beat him up if he says no.
WWE Women's Evolve Title - Kali Armstrong (c) vs Kendal Grey
They push each other to start. KH takes her down and hits shots. Kali rams her in the corner and hits punches. Kali hits punches and boots. KG boots her in the corner. KG fireman's carry takeovers her then rolling armbars her.
Kali forearms her and bangs her head off the buckle. KG evades a corner spear then basement dropkicks her. KG top rope crossbodies her outside. KG goes to springboard and is swept on the apron. KG's back is rammed into the apron. She is then thrown into the ropes from the outside and forearmed.
We go to break and return. Kali hits elbow drops and running boots her. KG hits shots to the gut and Kali reverse slams her for 2. Kali arm and chinlocks her. Kali misses an elbow drop. KG boots her out of the corner and hits running back elbows. KG overhead belly to belly suplexes her. KG slingshot stomps her then hits a ddt for 2.
KG top rope moonsaults her for 2. KG superkicks her then Kali pop-up powerslams him for 2. They fight on the buckles. Kali runs up the buckles and superplexes her for 2. They trade forearms. KG boots her in the gut and cradles her off a powerslam attempt for 2. Kali misses a corner spear. KG comes off the 2nd rope and is powerslammed hard down. Kali runs the ropes and KG powerslams her for the win.
Thoughts: I was surprised Grey won here. They just kind of started pushing her and Kali was a good champ. Maybe this means Kali is going to NXT now? At any rate, it was a good match. I liked KG powerslamming her when she ran at her and I liked Kali catching KG with a powerslam when she came off the buckles. It wasn't a classic but it was enough. Grey winning should open things up a bit and will help her develop in the manner she deserves.
Wren Sinclair and Carlee Bright come out to celebrate with Grey after.
Overall thoughts: It was a decent show. It wasn't great or anything you need to see but it was fine for what it was. The women's match was the best thing on here. Bryce/Drake made sense but wasn't spectacular. The bullrope match was acceptable. I'd give this a 6 out of 10 as all 3 matches were fine.
