EPW Wrestling 5/10/2025 Episode #189
Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2025/05/epw-wrestling-532025-episode-188.html
Note - This is my first time watching this so I'm not super familiar with all the wrestlers.
We are in Booneville, MS.
We see some clips from last week's show.
Hollywood Jimmy and Joey Gross are our hosts. Jimmy says The Initiative will be on this show.
The EPW Commissioner K-Swiss comes out and is interviewed. K is excited for the show. He says he will make his first executive decision this week. He says he will empower those who were left behind and fizzle out those who are overrated. He says Elijah Owens has been breaking his back and cutting his teeth. He says he will face Wonder Boy for the EPW Apex Title. He says Marco Harris will take on Tim Bosby for the EPW Title. He says if Marco doesn't win, it may be time to either step up or step aside.
EPW Apex Title - Wonder Boy (c) vs Elijah Owens
WB is from Metropolis City and is doing a superhero gimmick.
WB wristlocks him then Eli reverses it. WB goes up and over and Eli does the same. WB does japanese armdrags then crossbodies him for 2. WB's throat is pulled down over the top then Eli lariats him. Eli armlocks him and chokes him on the ropes. Eli basement dropkicks him for 2.
Eli sleepers him then flying headscissors him. WB flying forearms him in the corner then corner cannonballs him. WB perfectplexes him for 2. WB flying single leg dropkicks him and wins.
Thoughts: The japanese armdrags didn't look good here. It was an acceptable match otherwise. Wonder Boy isn't bad and the crowd liked him.
The Order come out to talk. They congratulate K-Swiss on being the commissioner. The Order say they are successful and are the reason everything has gone up in EPW. They say they have accomplishments and the people know nothing about it as they are consistent losers. They say people talk about overachieving but they just achieve.
They say they are EPW and say there's no light at the end of the title for the winner of the Harris/Bosby match tonight.
Thoughts: It was a by the numbers promo with heels talking about how great they are but they did a decent job with it.
The Initiative (Trace Hunt and Jason Genesis) vs Brian Hitt and Logan Blake
Hitt and LB are definitely your faces here. The Initiative have a female manager but she's not there with them. Trace takes am armdrag to start from Hitt. Trace back elbows Hitt then Jason hits a corner lariat on Hitt. Hitt and Trace botch a casadora armdrag spot.
LB goes up and over Trace then dances. He hiptosses Trace and Jason. LB then backdrops Trace for 2. Hitt is drive chest first upside down into the buckles. Jason corner meteora's Hitt. Jason stands on Hitt then slams him. Jason is flapjacked onto Hitt for 2.
Hitt walks up the buckles to do an unprettier on Trace for 2. Jason germans Hitt. Jason charges at Hitt, misses and goes over the top. Hitt takes a twisting suplex and then a senton for 2.
Jason is pushed into Trace's crotch. Hitt jumps off Jason's back, goes up top and hurricanrana's Trace. LB gets in and hits shots on Jason. He then powerslams him. Trace is pulled over the top. LB does his hand wave then is superkicked by Jason. Hitt is tagged in and hits a top rope crossbody for 2.
Trace germans Hitt. LB takes a powerbomb then Hitt takes a backdrop + backcracker combo. Hitt is pinned.
Thoughts: It wasn't the cleanest match with Hitt having an off night. The idea and work was fine though and it was your usual face vs heel tag match. Blake is a tall, decent looking guy and I wouldn't be shocked to see him pop-up somewhere someday.
EPW Title - Marko "Hangtime" Harris (c) vs Tim Bosby
They lock up. Tim waistlock takedowns him multiple times. Tim is then sent out to the apron. Marko hits a dropkick then a corner jumping lariat. Tim blocks a slingblade then backbreakers Marko.
Tim hits a corner spear then throws him off a belly to belly for 2. Tim chinlocks him. Marko enzugiri's him. Marko hits forearms and chops. Tim knees him in the gut. Marko hits a slingblade. Marko is caught with a german and does a nice bump for it. Tim then hits two more germans for 2.
Tim knees him in the gut. Marko is sat on the top rope. Marko hits headbutts on him up there. Marko then hits a nice top rope dropkick. Marko hits running forearms then a flying kick in the corner. Marko comes off the 2nd rope, is caught but sunset flips Tim. Tim ankle locks him. Marko cradles him for 2.
Marko misses an enzugiri and Tim ankle locks him. Marko rope breaks and Tim drags him away. Marko then cradles him to win.
Thoughts: I liked it. Marko was a good face here. Like Je'Von Evans, he has an extra spring on his flying moves and he wrestles a likeable style. I've seen Tim before and he's a pretty solid wrestler. This definitely beat my expectations and it was a good main.
The Order jump Marko after. Marko then gets some help from 2 people but The Order get the advantage. The Order try to get Tim to help them out but Tim nails The Order. Tim and Marko stare down. Tim picks the title up and gives it to Marko.
Overall thoughts: It was a good show. They had a loud crowd who helped everything out. The main was solid. The semi-main had some sloppy moments but the idea was right and the logic was fine. The opener was okay enough too. I'd give it a 6 out of 10 and I thought this was a fun watch.
