WWE NXT Stand and Deliver 4/2/2022

WWE NXT North American Title - Ladder Match - Carmelo Hayes (c) vs Solo Sikoa vs Cameron Grimes vs Grayson Waller vs Santos Escobar

Everyone took shots on Hayes to start then Trick pulled him up. Solo was pulled out and pushed into the rails. Grimes got knocked on the top rope throat first. Ladders were brought in and Escobar dropkicked one into Sanga and Sanga took out Grimes. Waller had Sanga bring him a big ladder then Sanga and Sikoa went at it. Sikoa ended up hitting a dive on Sanga then Escobar hit a nice tope on Sikoa. Gribes then did a flip tope on Escobar. Hayes then did an asai moonsault on Grimes.

Sikoa threw Waller into a ladder. We had a couple of ladders and people in the corner then Sikoa rammed his back into all of them. Hayes superkicks a ladder into Grimes' stomach then Grimes swung a ladder at him. Escobar dropkicked a ladder into Grimes then rammed it into his crotch. Escobar climbs a ladder and Waller jumps up and cutters him from it. Waller was then on the ladder and Hayes springboard lariated him.

Escobar sunset bombs Solo off a ladder onto another ladder. Escobar crossbodied Grimes and Grimes flipped him for a spanish fly for it. Sanga and Trick get in the ring and Sanga breaks a ladder. Elektra Lopez then gets in and Legado del Fantasma springboard dropkick Sanga. Lopez then gets help walking up the buckles and crossbodies Waller. Sanga gets sandwiched between ladder bridges outside.

Solo puts LdF on his back and kind of throws them forward. Trick pushes a ladder over with Solo and Escobar on it. Trick tries to climb the ladder but is scared then Grimes tips the ladder over and Trick goes flying on people outside. Waller and Hayes fight on top of the ladder then 2 other ladders are set up next to them. All 5 men are on ladders then Solo and Grimes fall over. Hayes and Escobar then go off. Waller decides between the title and jumping off then Escobar hurricanrana's Walleroff the ladder. Solo then top rope splashes Escobar.

Grimes foot presses down Solo on a ladder on the apron. Grimes and Hayes lay on a bridged ladder thenWaller tried to elbow drop them throw it but both move and he takes a nasty fall outside. Grimes does a top rope M. Bison stomp to Escobar then gets the belt to win it.

It was a long one and was a spotfest as it really only could be. It had some highlights and they did a nice job of getting the seconds involved to make it interesting. Trick's bump to the outside was one of the highlights along with Waller's missed elbow from the ladder. I didn't love it, but I did enjoy it. Grimes had to win due to the storyline but Hayes was doing well and shouldn't be losing unless he's moving to the main roster or going for the NXT title.

Tony D'Angelo vs Tomasso Ciampa

Tony and AJ Galante arrive in an old car. AJ hasn't been introduced on TV before and is a minor league hockey team and boxing gym owner, but his dad is a mobster. I never heard of him until this. We see clips of Ciampa's career for his entrance.

Tony pounds on him and Ciampa hits a jumping knee then a spinebuster. Ciampa then hits some stomps and running knees him in the face a few times. Tony is then thrown into the steps and takes another running knee. They go back in and Tony pounds on him. We get a "where's my pizza?" chant. Ciampa hits some lariats and flying clotheslines him.

Tony falcon arrows him for 2 and yells at him. ciampa slaps him and hits some chops then rips his shirt off. Ciampa goes for a 2nd rope double axe handler but Ciampa jumping knees him. They get up and trade shots and Ciampa spinning forearms him.

Tony finds his crowbar outside but misses a shot. The ref goes to clear it and Tony low blows him and hits a spinning fisherman's suplex for 2. Tony yells at the ring announcer and gets the crowbar, but is ddt'd over the 2nd rope. Ciampa then hits a sitout pedigree for 2.

Ciampa gets ddt'd on the floor then Tony kicks him in the side of the head and wins it.

The ending was lame and killed off a lot of the crowd. The match wasn't really anything special and was a bit slow. We got a "Thank You Ciampa" chant after the match. Triple H's music hit then he came and hugged him.

Chase U was in the stands.

NXT Tag Titles - Imperium vs The Creed Brothers vs MSK

Bivens wore pink and a doo rag and held a "Creed Cloth". Ivy Nile was with him too, 

Julius did a nice spear into a takedown early then Brutus pounced someone. They then hit a belly to belly on the floor and a release german. Brutus did some nice sledgehammer club shots to Lee then hit Karelin's lift on Barthel. Julius then did a nice overhead belly to belly to Barthel. MSK hit a bunch of kicks on Julius  then Barthel was catapulted into a superkick then Carter double stomped him. Barthel hit a 2nd rope euro uppercut.

Julius was put upside down in the ropes and Imperium combo dropkicked him. Aichner slammed Carter into the ropes then hit a big lariat on Lee. Aichner did a forward rolling fireman's carry on Julius  then was headscissored out. Carter then jumped over the top and headscissored Barthel onto Aichner on the outside. Lee then did a corkscrew flying space tiger.

Carter did a top rope swanton then Lee did a spiral tap on Aichner for 2. Julius got double superplexed onto opponents. Brutus went up top and did a cannonball onto opponents on the outside. Julius lifted Nash into a Brutus spear then Barthel did a hard euro into Julius into the steps. Brutus took a euro uppercut into a powerbomb then Lee hurricanrana'd Aichner off the top into a Nash ligerbomb for the win.

This was a spotfest, but it was a good one. The Brutus cannonball was awesome and the superplex spot was real neat. Nothing but flips and big moves here, but they didn't overdo it and the biggest show of the year is a good time to do this...not some random indy show. The Creed's continue to set their place for the rookies of the year.

We got a Nikkita Lyons promo video.

Cameron Grimes was interviewed about winning the North American title. He said he is in shock and has been working his butt off for 3 years. He said his dad said he would always be a WWE superstar, but he's now a WWE champion.

Gacy and Harland did a promo from somewhere. Gacy said tragedy unites people when it should be love. He said he will unite people. He said they need to freely choose peace so we don't have to suffer tragedy again. He said it depends on us. 

WWE NXT Women's title - Mandy Rose vs Kay Lee Ray vs Cora Jade vs Io Shirai

Cora had skateboarders out for her entrance. KLR had a baseball bat. Mandy came out on a lift with smoke and had wings behind her. Wade Barrett said she loaned her it.

Everyone ganged up on Mandy to start and she was kicked out of the ring. Io basement dropkicked Cora and Io and KLR both did dives on the outside. Io and KLR shook hands and went at it. Io got pulled out by Mandy and splatted on the floor. Mandy threw KLR out on Io then delay suplexed Cora. Cora cannonballed Mandy off the apron then KLR ran up the ropes and flipped on Cora, who really didn't catch her. Io then moonsaulted onto KLR but hit her leg off the table.

Io hit a 619 on KLR then top rope dropkicked her. Io and KLr both had opponents in submissions Cora headscissored KLR then step up enzugiri'd Mandy. Cora then stomped on Mandy's back and canadian destroyer'd KLR on the apron. Io top rope dropkciked Mandy then german suplexed her for 2.

Mandy and Io are up top and Io top rope spanish fly'd her then Cora broke it up with a top rope senton. Cora hit a sliced bread on Mandy for 2 then KLR hit a KLR bomb on Cora. KLR was pushed off the top then Io top rope moonsaulted Cora. Mandy then pumping knee'd her to win it.

They hit a couple of big moves here including moonsaults to the outside, a top rope spanish fly and an apron canadian destroyer but it wasn't too good. It wasn't much but spots and there was the usual sloppiness plus Mandy went over which was not ideal.

Dexter Lumis/Indi were at a cowboy shop and Indi said she would make him the sexiest cowboy. Persia and Duke also were there trying on stuff. They all asked what they were doing there and argued. Dextet tried to strangle Duke with a belt.

We then went live with a vote over who is the hottest couple. Dexter and Indi won. Duke got mad and he and Dexter wanted to fight until the girls stopped it then officials broke it up.

Gunther vs LA Knight

I think Gunther had a new theme here. Gunther slapped him early and LA hit some punches then stomped him in the corner. LA then lariated him off the apron. Gunther then came back with an apron powerbomb. Gunther bulldog chokes him and hits some euro uppercuts. LA hits a neckbreaker from behind then Gunther face kicks him. Gunther puts him in an STF.

LA hits a big backdrop then Gunther hits a chop. LA slingshot shoulders him then stomps on him. He then hits a running knee and LA slams him. LA hits a jumping elbow and superplexes him from the top. They trade shots. LA hits a safe version of the burning hammer. Gunther does a hansen lariat on LA as he sits on the top. Gunther then top rope splashes him and powerbombs him to win it.

It was okay but not what it should have been. LA loses again like he always does. It was short, the crowd wasn't too into it and they rushed things so stuff didn't have time to sink in. 

WWE NXT Title - Dolph Ziggler (c) vs Bron Breakker

Bron came out with a chainsaw and they had NXT in big letters. Bron cut the X in half and knocked it over.

DZ takes a cheapshot during intros and the ref gets between them. Bron rams him into the buckles and punches him. They messed up some spot to start and Bro nhit a powerslam as DZ was in the air. Bron hit a couple of over head belly to belly suplexes. Bobby Roode then grabbed Bron's leg. The ref kicked out Roode and Bron further chased him out. Dolph then took off a turnbuckle pad during it.

Bron back suplexed DZ and Bron was crotched on the top rope. DZ then hit a neckbreaker as Bron was hanging off the top. DZ then hit another neckbreaker for 2. DZ sleepered Bron on the mat. Bron finally made a comeback and shouldered Dolph, then overhead belly to belly suplexed him. Bron then hit a nice tilt-a-whirl slam.

Bron top rope frankensteinered him for 2. Bron hit a big spear on DZ for 2. DZ then pulled him outside and dropkicked him as Bron came back in. Bron hit another spear then did a gorilla press into a powerslam but Roode came out and pulled DZ out of a pin. This should have been a DQ, but it's a big show, so no.

Bron then hit a bad tope con hilo. They got back in the ring and DZ hit a fameasser and a zigzag for 2. DZ did a top rope elbow for another 2. Bron hulked up as Ziggler was getting a superkick ready then he speared him. Bron got pushed into the exposed buckle and was superkicked for the DZ win.

This went too long and just wasn't that great. The finished sucked as Bron should not be losing here and it being dirty on the big NXT show made it worse. Bron kind of spammed the spear a bunch of times here and didn't get that much offense in for how long this went. The crowd also wasn't into it which hurt. 

Overall thoughts: The crowd was dead which hurt the show. Only the ladder match and the tag title match were good and Bron losing in the main ended this one on a sour note.
