All Japan Pro Wrestling 4/24/2022 - Champion Carnival 2022 Day 7

All Japan Pro Wrestling 4/24/2022 - Champion Carnival 2022 Day 7

Izanagi and Ryuji Hijikata vs Yoshitatsu and Seigo Tachibana

Slow start here with nothing really happening. Seigo hiptosses Iza then does a weird legdrop on him. Seigo then takes a double chest kick and Ryuji hits some back kicks on him. They trade forearms and Iza chest kick flurries Seigo. Iza hits him with some punches and knocks him down.

Yuji hits a nasty knee to the side of the face of Seigo then Seigo comes back with a forearm. Yoshi hits kicks on Ryuji then dragon screws him. Ryuji shining wizards Yoshi then Iza superkicks Yoshi for 2. Yoshi's team hits running corner moves on Iza then Yoshi top rope chops Iza for 2. Yoshi powerslams Iza for another 2 then codebreakers him off the 2nd rope for the win.

There wasn't much to this at all and it was over really as it was just getting started. Some nice kicks here though.

Takao Omori and Ryo Inoue vs Suwama and Dan Tamura

Ryo tries to wrestle Suwama early and is taken down. Dan gets in and gets dropkicked and they trade forearms. Dan slams him then Ryo makes the mistake of trading forearms with Suwama and loses that one. Suwama then forearms him down.

Ryo hits some dropkicks on Suwama then Omori gets in. He misses a spinning heel kick that Suwama sells anyway then neckbreakers him. Dan forearms Omori's chest then shoulders him off the 2nd rope for 2. Ryo begs to get in. He suplexes Dan and knocks Suwama off the apron. Ryo then top rope dropkicks Dan for 2.

Ryo misses a top rope dropkick. Dan hits a big lariat on him for 2 then hits a stiff powerbomb for the win.

There wasn't too much in this one with Suwama barely getting in. It was short and Ryo wasn't too good here.

Yuma Aoyagi and Atsuki Aoyagi vs Rising Hayato and Kento Miyahara

Rising springboard armdrags Atsuki early and they do some counters and flips before standing off. Kento face kicks Yuma then takes a corner enzugiri from Atsuki when he runs into it. Atsuki dropkicks Kento off the apron then moonsaults off the 2nd rope onto him outside.

Kento takes a double shoulder then some Atsuki dropkicks. Kento facekicks Yuma then tags out. Rising hits a springboard dropkick on Atsuki then bulldogs him for 2. Atsuki superkicks Rising then corkscrew kicks him. Yuma and Rising then trade chest chops for forearms.

Rising accidentally superkicks his own partner then flying kicks Atsuki. Atsuki comes back with a handspring into a enzugiri. Rising gets thrown on Keto then Kento takes a top rope moonsault and top rope dropkick for 2. Kento hits a pumping knee on Yuma and Yuma rolls up KEnto out of nowhere with guillotine into a pin to win it.

They kept it moving here. The finish was messed up a little as Kento didn't really roll with the pin attempt. I didn't mind this at all and it was more of a juniors style match.

Yuma raises Rising and Atsuki's hands after then I think he threw Rising out (the camera's missed it). Kento threw a fit with the referee as he thought he was on the ropes.

All Japan Junior Heavyweight Title - Hikaru Sato (c) vs Black Menso-re

Sato side headlocks him early and they trade chops. Menso slaps him  then gets slapped back and takes some kicks. Sato kick flurries him in the corner then Menso comes back wit chops. Menso dropkicks him and takes a kick when he tries to tope him.

Menso hits more chops but is taken down with a kick then waterwheel dropped for 2. Sato crabs him and Menso dropkicks him. Menso double stomps him off the 2nd rope for 2.  Menso then octopus stretches him with an armbar and rolls him up for 2. They trade forearms up top and Menso double stomps him as he hands in tree of woe.

Menso then 2nd buckle double stomps him on the floor. Menso enzugiri's him and spin kicks him for 2 then Sato comes back with an enzugiri. Menso germans him for 2 and Sato headbutts him. They trade slaps on their knees then trade slaps standing up. Sato gives him a stiff backdrop for 2 and death valley drivers him for 2. Sato then headbutts him for the win.

This would have been a lot better with a crowd that could cheer. This wasn't too bad at all but Menso's chops really did suck. It was good to see Menso get some real offense in for a change and I don't mind a good slap fight.

Sato got pulled under then ropes after and Yusuke Kodama came up with Sato's title.

Champion Carnival - Ryuki Honda vs Shuji Ishikawa

Honda flurries Shuji with forearms then they trade forearms. They shoulder battle and Shuji runs him over. They go outside and Honda lariats him on the floor. Honda takes control for a little and argues with the ref. Honda hits some forearms then takes a headbutt back and goes down.

Shuji double stomps Honda off the 2nd rope for 2. Honda comes back with a spear. They criss cross with lariats then Honda suplexes him. Honda then lariats him and Shuji dragon suplexes him. They trade forearms and give each other hard slaps then Shuji hits a stiff fire thunder driver. Shuji knees Honda in the chest then does a running knee for 2. Shuji then wins it with a splash mountain.

It was a little bit of a sprint, but it was an entertaining one. The second half was fun with some real stiff shots and some stiff moves. It would have been better with a few more minutes added on.

Champion Carnival - Shigehiro Irie vs Shotaro Ashino

Irie hits a stiff forearm early then Ashino comes back with stiff back elbows. Ashino charges him in the corner and Irie butt drops him. Irie then gets dragon screwed through the ropes. Ashino works Irie's legs. Irie fights back with a headbutt to the chest then is dropkicked in the knee. Ashino stretch mufflers him then Irie comes back with a black hole slam. He then cannonballs him in the corner.

Irie and Ashino trade shots and Irie flying headbutts him. He tries for another and is caught with a german in mid air, then takes euro uppercut. Irie hits a stiff forearm and they trade forearms for euro uppercuts. Ashino then slaps him and germans him for 2. Ashino then goes straight into the ankle lock and Irie does a nice cannonball on him as he is sitting.

Irie puts him in a sleeper. Ashino back drops him then gets his running euro attempt reversed into a grounded sleeper. Irie hits some elbows to the side of the head then Ashino slips out into an ankle lock. Irie hits some slaps while on the ground then Ashino sits on his back with the ankle lock. He then turns it into a grounded ankle lock and wins it.

This was decent. Ashino worked the leg and it led up into the ankle lock finish. I liked Irie's flying headbutts here and the flying headbutt reverse into a german was a really good spot.

Champion Carnival - T-Hawk vs Jake Lee

Slow start here. T rolls him into an STF style move. They trade facekicks on the outside then T facekicks him against the rails. Back in the ring and Jake double reverse armbars him. Jake goes for a suplex but T reverses it with his own suplex.

Jake sits up top then gets chopped down to the floor. Jake gets back in and step up enzugiri'd him. T dropkicks him in the knee then knees him in the back. T hits a reverse sit out slam for 2. Jake then high kicks him and backdrops him for 2. Jake then running knees him in the back for 2 and brainbusters him for the win.

I wasn't too into this. It started off slow and never really picked up. The ending was kind of out of nowhere and Jake's heel act doesn't really make for good matches.

Overall thoughts: The main wasn't too good but I liked Irie/Ashino and Honda/Shuji.The junior's match wasn't too bad and the match with Kento was decent. It was a good show overall.
