WWE Wrestlemania 38 Night 1 4/3/2022

WWE Wrestlemania 38 Night 1 4/3/2022

Rick Boogs got injured in the opener as he tried to lift both Uso brothers on his shoulders and his leg gave out. The match was ended soon after and it wasn't anything special. It seemed like that was a bad omen for the rest of the night, but things worked out well.

Drew/Corbin wasn't anything too special and is a waste of both guys and especially Drew, who would have been main eventing this two years ago.

Logan Paul was fantastic in his match. He looked like a real natural and looked more like a wrestler than a lot of the people in this match. I think it's a shame that he's such a big star because he definitely could do some things in wrestling. WWE usually does a good job with celeb matches and this was yet another example. The Paul brothers are really talented dudes who seem to excel in everything they try and are just great showmen.

Seth/Cody was good. Surprises can be good, but they also missed out on some money by not announcing Cody ahead of time. Thankfully, they weren't idiots and let Cody win. I think Cody was dumb to leave AEW as he had his hands or his family and friends hands in every part of the company and while money is nice, having the power he had is a nice thing as well. I think he's taking a real risk in joining a company he already left out of frustration and we'll just have to see where things go.

I did not watch either of the women's matches. I have little interest in them.

Austin actually worked a match against Kevin Owens and did far more than he needed to. Austin is obviously older and can't move as well, but he took a couple of bumps and we got to see some signature spots. He didn't embarrass himself and he sent the crowd home on a happy note, making that segment a good one. Again, had they advertised this like the match it ended up being, I think they would have made more money. That was definitely a mistake.

I went into this show expecting to hate it and instead, I was entertained enough to watch most of it. As I always say, the main event really helps or hurts a show and they got the main event right here and ended it on a good note. I enjoyed this show.
