The Blackpool Combat Club (Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley and Wheeler Yuta) vs The Gunn Club

Yuta and Austin go at it to start. Colten gets in and Yuta avoids a dropkick then ties his legs up and pounds on him. He then bridges while tying Colten's legs up. Bryan surfboards Colten then Billy gets in. Billy misses a corner splash then hits a back elbow. We go to PiP break Bryan getting out of a Colten headlock. Colten then dropkicks him. Austin gets tripped into the middle buckle and does a stupid sell for it then both tag out.

Mox clears out the Gunn's with lariats then half-nelson suplexes Colten. Mox superplexes Colten off the 2nd rope then double ddt's Austin and Colten. Billy does a spinning sell for a lariat then Yuta top rope crossbodies Billy for 2. The Gunn's take a flying knee and a cutter then Billy double clotheslines Mox and Bryan. Billy cobra clutch slams Yuta then Yuta rolls him up off the ropes for the win.

This was short and it was fine, but they really didn't have enough time to do much here. The Gunn's supposedly lost their perfect record as a trio here which is just stupid as this is an opener on a B show and wasn't built up.

The Butcher vs ?

Butcher's opponent wasn't introduced. He hit some forearms then Btucher knocked him down with one. Butcher then powerbombs him for the win.

This was a quick squash. Would have been nice to know his opponent's name.

Dustin Rhodes does a promo. He said he has been on one last ride for some time now. He says he took Lance Archer out of the top 5 by beating him and says he knows his war with Archer isn't over. Dustin then challenges CM Punk, saying it's his dream match.

Owen Hart Tournament Qualifier - Ruby Soho vs Robyn Renegade 

Who is Robyn Renegade? Why should we care? How did she get in this match? AEW never explained. Robyn pushes her in the corner and face shoves her. Ruby uses the ropes to flip out of a wristlock then gets her head banged off the canvas. Ruby hits osme headbutts then STO's her. Ruby gets superkicked while upside down in the corner then Robyn camel clutches her.

We go to PiP break then a regular break and return. Ruby backdrops her then drives her into the middle buckle with her knees. Ruby won't let go of her. Robyn eye rakes her then rolls out and someone replaces her from under the ring. It's Charlotte Renegade, Robyn's twin sister. Ruby goes up top and Charlotte puts her feet up on Ruby's top rope senton. Ruby enzugiri's her then Charlotte rolls out and goes under the ring. Robyn then comes in and rolls her up from behind. Ruby then wins with a blade runner.

The Renegade's looked like idiots here and it was a total waste of a neat gimmick. Why even do that if you are going to have them lose?

 

Cole and Page do a split screen promo. Page says Cole has been a thorn in his side for too long. He said Cole should have been writing a will instead of bothering him. Cole said this will be the worst night of Page's career. He says he will destroy and end him and remind everyone that he is better than Page.

AEW Title - Texas Deathmatch - Adam Page (c) vs Adam Cole

Page gets in his face to start. Page chairs Cole early and Page mounts and pounds him. Cole gets thrown into the steps and Cole is forearmed over the rail. They go into the stands and Cole takes a beer to the head then Page drinks some of it. Cole superkicks the air inside then Page moonsaults him with a chair as he stands. Cole then is thrown into a chair.

Page then sits a chair and poses. Cole is busted open then is thrown into the rails. A table is set-up outside and Page is suplexed onto the floor, then thrown into the steps. Page is sat in a chair then Cole leg lariats him in the ring. Page hits some forearms as Cole ties a chain to the rope. Cole then extends the chain and Page clotheslines himself with it.

Chairs are set up back to back and Cole is F-U'd on them. Cole goes for a panama sunrise but takes a samurai driver. Page goes for a moonsault from the top to the outside but Cole catches him with a superkick. Cole then hits a panama sunrise. They go up top and Page top rope fallaway slams him.

They set up chairs in the ring and hit each other then hockey fight. They trade kicks and superkicks then Page hits a buckshot lariat. Page takes off his belt and ties Cole to the rope but opts not to untie him. Cole then low blows him and superkicks him then takes a big lariat. Page puts barbed wire around his arm and hits Cole with it. Page wraps barbed wire around Cole's head then hits a samurai driver off the apron through a table and Page wins as Cole can't get up by the 10 count.

This was called a texas death match, but wasn't as there were no pinfalls leading to ten counts.  As customary, they did too much. It was mostly a hardcore match. I didn't think it was super great or anything, just okay.

Overall thoughts: Main was okay, but it was not a texas deathmatch despite being called as such. I had issues with every other match though.
