MLW Fusion #114

MLW Fusion #114

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2020/12/mlw-fusion-113.html

Holliday and Hammerstone were arriving in a car. The announcer Alicia was there. Holliday asked why she's always there and Hammerstone said they were just talking about her. As they arrived a bunch of people in black attacked them. Hammerstone went to nail one off the car and Holliday said don't because he didn't want a dent in the car. Holliday then started talking about her again and said he didn't care about the people who attacked him.

L.A. Park Jr. vs Bu Ku Dao

Bu Ku Dao did an inset. He said he was excited to be here and said he would make everyone in Vietnam proud. They said Dao is barely 5 feet tall. Where do they find these midgets? Dao has these weird tights where it looks like he is sagging, but it's just part of the design. Dao gets stomped early by Park and the Park family.

Park and Dao trade some shots and Park topes him, and the landing was mostly on the tile floor which probably hurt. I'm not sure how well Dao can really catch Park since he is so much bigger. Dao crossbodies Park from the top for 2 and Park enzugiri's him.  Park does a big alabama slam but only for 2. It then looks like Park hits a Deep Six, but Park is the one selling it for some reason. They talk about Park defying the science of fighting and that's not a good time for that talk. Park has Dao in a standing guillotine move and Dao reverses it into a pin. The Parks weren't happy about that pin and yell at him after. It was really short which limited what could be done here.

Lawlor and ACH talked about their previous match. ACH said his game has changed. Tom put him over but said ACH can't fight better than him. ACH says he loves a good fight. Tom said ACH doesn't have the brains to compete with him and said ACH doesn't have the mental acumen. Well, no arguments from me on that after some of the stuff ACH said to get fired from WWE. I really don't want to review ACH here or give him any time, but if I don't review the match, then this review is going to look really stupid with only 2-3 matches reviewed.

Jordan Oliver did a promo. He said he has hurt Oliver and is addicted to beating him up. Oliver said he's going to show him no mercy. He said Simon Gotch would not outlast Oliver. This wasn't any good.

Mads Krugger vs Budd Heavy and Daniel Starling

Mads Krugger gets an entrance with people in black with flags. His opponents look scared. This Heavy name is not a work. This dude is heavy. Krugger nails Budd to start and slams Starling into Heavy. Krugger powerslams Starling into the corner and he drops down on Heavy. Krugger then does a full nelson slam to Starling on top of Heavy to win in a quick squash. The Sentai Death Squad with Krugger then puts the jobbers in bodybags.

We went over the PWI Top 10 MLW Rankings. Hammerstone was ranked #1.

Hammerstone and Krugger get into it backstage but don't actually show it. The announcers and Alicia announce the building has been locked down to restore order.

Sofia de la Renta did a promo in a dark room with candles. She said Mil Muertes is coming.

The Von Erichs did a promo from their ranch. They said ACH has more tools in the bag than Lawlor does and said they want ACH to bring the Opera Cup home.

Opera Cup Semi-finals - Tom Lawlor vs ACH

Lawler is wearing short tights that look like jeans and looks very very gay. They grapple back and forth early. Tom works the armbar early and ACH tries to fight it off. During the match we go backstage again with something going on with Hammerstone, though again, we can't really see anything.  Tom hits some knees on ACH and a sliding clothesline. Tom ties up ACH again and turns it into a pin attempt for 2. ACH cartwheels out of an irish whip and dropkicks Tom. ACH gets some chops and kicks on Lawlor and backbreaker's him for 2 and Tom comes back with a suplex and another armbar attempt. Tom ties ACH up in the ropes, chopping and forearming him. ACH gets out and Lawler hits a hard back elbow on him. They trade some forearms back and forth. ACH does a low leg sweep and Lawlor slips in a choke. ACH rolls through for a pin attempt and another. Tom takes a bunch of kicks and a tiger driver for 2. ACH goes for a dive by Lawlor has his knees up and then pins ACH. This wasn't bad at all and the announcers did a good job of selling it. Now it will be Low-Ki vs Tom Lawlor in the Opera Cup finals.

Tom Lawlor cut a promo after bringing up Hackensmidt and Gotch. Lawlor said we were one week away from putting his name on the cup with various legends. He said he would go 3-0 against Ki to close the show.

We were promised a Hammerstone match here, but that didn't happen.

Overall thoughts: This was a pretty quick hour. Totally fine for what it was but I didn't like the Hammerstone bait and switch.
