Dragon Gate 12/27/2020 - Fantastic Gate Day 12

Team Boku(Ryo Saito, Bokutimo Dragon, & Punch Tominaga) vs R.E.D.(KAI, Kazma Sakamoto, & HYO)

Kai teases a handshake but moves his hand away and Punch gets angry. Kai runs over Punch with a shoulder and punch limbo's a lariat. Punch and Ryo do a double team which gets Kai bulldogged. Ryo teases shaking Punch's hand but then moves his hand away. Boku is Big R and cosplays as Ultimo for some reason. He armdrags Kazma and sends him outside.

Everyone fights on the floor. They come back in and stomp on Ryo and then chair a pole into his gut. Kazma hiptosses Hyo onto Saito and Saito fights back with forearms. He overhead belly to belly's Hyo. Boku won't go down to Hyo's shots and dragon screws him then then him and Ryo get stopped when to do double submissions. Kazma comes in with big shotei strikes and him and Kai double team Punch. Ryo hits a pop-up german on Hyo and the faces triple team Hyo with a big Punch moonsault. Punch headbutt rams 2 of RED from the second rope and Boku wins it with a la magistral. It wasn't anything special but the faces comeback finish was fine.

Susumu Yokosuka & Shuji Kondo vs Dragon Kid & Taketo Kamei 

Kamei gets caught early trying to leapfrog Kondo and gets slammed. Kid and Susumo play around with a test of strength. Susumu won't lock arms and Kid tries to get him to, then Susumu steps on his hand. Kid tries a DDT around Susumu, but Susumu throws him overhead.

Kondo does a one arm gorilla press and slams Kid down hard. The pace here is rather slow and the crowd isn't much into it as Kamei gets beat up on. Kamei and Susumu trade chest slaps and Kamei forearms him and Kondo. Kid gets in and springboard diamond dust's Kondo. Kondo regains control with a crab but Kamei breaks it up and Kid hits a cristo armbar. Susumu release exploders Kamei for 2. Kid gets back in and hurricanrana's Susumu then Kamei gets thrown up and down on a Kondo pop-up slam. Kondo then does a big spear for 2.

Kamei gets a close nearfall on Susumu but Susumu criss-crosses him on the ropes for a big lariat for 2. Susumu then flips him in the backbreaker position and slams down on the side for the win. This wasn't anything special or noteworthy.

Ultimo Dragon, Masaaki Mochizuki and Super Shisa vs R.E.D. - Diamante, BxB Hulk and Eita

UD goes to lock up with Eita and gets jumped by Diamante. Everyone fights outside and when they come back in, Shisa gets double-teamed by Hulk and Eita. Mochy and Hulk trade kicks and Mochy dragon screws him. Diamante and UD do some lucha which ends in Diamante getting armdragged. Diamante runs the ropes and UD kicks him in the butt which sends him through the middle rope. hulk hits a rock bottom on Mochy.

Mochy gets thrown into the buckles, though Red had removed the bucks and he gets steel instead. Mochy mounts a comeback with some kicks on Hulk and DDT's him. UD comes in and hits his own kicks on Eita then does his head lock/headscissors combo on Eita and Diamante. Then he does his headstand headscissors. All three faces put subsmissions on the heels but one of RED comes in while the ref is distracted and stops them.

Diamante takes a Jerry bump to the outside and Mochi chest kick's Eita for 2. He triangle kicks him in the corner and Shisa goes for the Yoshi-tonic, but Hulks stops it before taking it himself. Eita throws the ref at Shisa then low blows him and superkicks him for the win. I liked this one. RED did their heeling and the faces had a nice comeback.

Masato Yoshino and Naruki Doi vs R.E.D - SB Kento and HipHop Kikuta

They go outside to start. DoiYoshi does their double team that ends in a Yoshino dropkick on SB. Doi gets his injured arm worked on for a few minutes and tags out. Yoshino gets 2v1'd and takes a Kikuta butt bump. Doi comes back in and clears out RED. Yoshino hits a la mistica and Doi hits a sliding dropkick. Kento grabs a chair and nails both opponents and the ref with it. They cover Doi in chairs and slam a chair onto the pile on his arm. SB then puts an armlock on him that Kid comes and breaks up. Kid beats up on SB and then Red holds back Kikuta and SB from doing too much to Kid. The ref tries to break it up but Kid and SB keep going at it. The match made sense with Doi doing a good job of selling the arm and Red doing a good job of focusing on it, but DQ finishes aren't much fun.

Masquerade(Shun Skywalker, Kota Minoura, Jason Lee, Dragon Dia, & La Estrella) vs Dragon Gate Generation(YAMATO, Kzy, Keisuke Okuda, Yosuke Santa Maria, & UT)

 

Okuda hits a nice punch to Kota's face early. Lee and UT pick up the pace and they try to put each other in abdominal stretches. Estrella does Titan's handstand headscissors and throws Kzy. He thought he has him cleared but when he poses, Kzy comes from behind and nails him then DGG clears out Masquerade.

Masquerade does a cool 4 person dropkick on Yosuke off the ropes. Dia roes a cool roll-up into a surfboard on Yosuke. Yosuke and Lee trade some forearms and Yosuke goes for a tag but Masquerade clears out DGG. Shun hits a bunch of forearms and drops Yosuke. Yosuke gets held up for a slam and Lee pushes his legs and it ends in a backbreaker.

Yosuke gets out after a missile dropkick on Kota. UT catches Estrella with a euro uppercut as he flew through the air. Yosuke and I think KT did double dives on the outside then UT and Yamato followed. Okuda mafia kicks Lee in the face and does a delayed dropkick on him in the corner. Lee hits a big dropkick on him.. Shun comes in and gets thrown into the ropes but he jumps on the top rope and nailes two opponents on the way down. Estrella does a handstand on the top rope into a seated moonsault off the top rope. UT and Kota trade forearms and Yamato hits a nice dropkick to Kota's head. DGG all hits a bunch of stuff on Kota but can't finish him. Kota takes a piledriver and a delayed brainbuster but Masquerade saves him. Kzy does frog splash from the top and gets nobody then takes something like a magic killer before taking a spike hurricanrana. Kota hits a water wheel drop on Yamato.

Estrella runs the top rope into a dropkick on Kzy and Kzy does a nice rull-up on Shun for a 2. Kzy hits a flying lazy kick to the face and then takes a spinning rock bottom. Shun then does a spinning wrist clutch blue thunder bomb for the win.

This was very good with a lot of action back and forth, especially for what was a house show. When you have this many people in a house show match, there's only so much of a story you can tell, but it's DG and the action was on point.

Overall thoughts: While I did skip the comedy match, this was a pretty decent show for a house show with a good main event.
