The Hurt Syndicate come out. MVP says this is an official announcement. MVP says he's with two of the finest athletes to every be in a wrestling ring and says it's like standing between Michael Jordan and Walter Payton. He says his business card is like a golden ticket and the oppportunity to change your life, or make it worse. MVP says Bobby beat the snot out of Swerve Strickland.

He says Swerve isn't the most dangerous man in AEW, Bobby Lashley is. He says Bobby is a walking armageddon. MVP says they came here to take titles and leverage them for more money and power. He says they are the merchants of misery. He says "we hurt people".

Thoughts: This was a good promo from MVP that explained his group well.

AEW Continental Classic 2024 Blue League - Mark Briscoe vs Shelton Benjamin

Shelton sends him into the corner and gets chopped. SB shoulders him over and overhead suplexes him. Mark hits forearms and facekicks him out of the ring. Mark dropkicks him through the ropes. Mark takes a belly to belly suplex on the floor.

Mark is sent into the steps. SB is pushed into the post then Mark tope con hilos him through the ropes. Mark goes up top, SB runs up the buckles and overhead belly to belly suplexes him.

We go to PiP break and return. SB knees him in the gut. Mark rolling death valley drivers him and sliding lariats him. Mark hits a froggy bow off the top. Shelton goes out and Mark elbow drops him off the apron. 

Shelton hits a very nasty release german on him then does another. Mark pele kicks him and sunset flips him. SB step up knees him in the corner and superkicks him for 2. SB superkicks him then hits his uranage slam to win.

Thoughts: They did too much here and they didn't sell a lot. Mark took a couple of nasty release germans on his neck that did not look safe. Shelton winning was probably the right call but I wouldn't be surprised if he only gets one more win.

Tony Schiavone interviews Mercdes Mone and Kamille on the stage. Mone says to stay hello to the CEO. Mone says her win against Kris feels like money. She said Kris proved she's one of the best but she's the greatets TBS champ of all time. Mone says Kamille can't get anything done right and maybe goes to fire her. Kaille interrupts her and asks if she's stupid or dumb. Kamille says she can't fire her as she quits. Mone then screams and gets mad.

We see clips of the Big Boom AJ vs QT Marshall match at Full Gear.

ROH Title - Chris Jericho (c) vs Tomohiro Ishii

Big Bill gives Tony Schiavone a sap and says it will someday grow into a large tree. Ishii and CJ trade chops. Ishii germans him then gets german'd. Ishii lriats him over then CJ does the same. They lariat each other at the same time then Ishii lariats him over.

Ishii chops CJ on the apron. CJ eye rakes him then ddt's him on the apron. Ishii's head is banged off the apron and CJ drops the table top on Ishii. They trade chops and slap each other. We go to PiP break and return. CJ's mouth is busted open bad and CJ superplexes him. Ishii gets up immediately. CJ hits forearms and Ishii lariats him. They trade slaps and slaps for lariats. CJ release germans him. Ishii lariats him in the back of the head and both go down.

CJ hits an attitude adjustment then an asai moonsault for 2. CJ hits a judas effect and a codebreaker for 1. Ishii hits headbutts and battering ram headbutts him for 2. Ishii hits a codebreaker then running lariats him for 2. Ishii enzugiri's him and takes a judas effect. CJ hits another judas effect and wins.

Thoughts: It was a slow, sometimes boring and brutal match here. CJ blew from the mouth and Ishii bled from the nose here. There were a lot of hard shots here with Ishii hitting big lariats and CJ hitting some judas effects. I liked that part but the first half of this was all chops ala Jericho vs Suzuki and that was boring. I'm on the fence about this one and just wish it was a little shorter.

Renee interviews Swerve Strickland and Prince Nana. He says rebuilding is something they do well. He says he will figure it out but has never been hit as hard by anyone like Bobby. Max Caster walks past him and is laughing. Swerve asks what's funny. Max says Swerve is funny. He says he lost at the Prudential Center, where he beat him for the tag titles. He says Swerve was a house fire. Swerve puts him up against the wall and pounds on him on the boxes. Max is sent into the boxes and Swerve kicks him.

Tony Schiavone interviews Adam Page in the ring. We are told Orange Cassidy is still out with internal injuries from having a substance poured down his throat. Page says he will knock Christopher Daniels down if he gets in his way and he won't get back up. He says he made a deal with Christian but Christian couldn't keep up his end of the deal.

He says his intentional he's always been to be the AEW champ. He says the title is and has always been his. Jay White comes out. He ask what happened in the match at Full Gear and at Wrestledream. Jay says Page lost both matches. He says if anyone is going after the title, it will be him and not Page. He says he will give him another taste of him tonight if he wants it.

Pac then comes out and sends Jay White into the rails. Yuta clips and stomps on Page. Shafir comes out and Jay suplexes Pac. Page lariats Jay. Shafir hits Page with the briefcase. Jay goes for a bladerunner on Shafir. Mox saves her and puts jay in a sleeper. Shafir kips and hip throws Jay. She then does the reverse choke on him. Jay takes a group stomp. Jay is then hit with the briefcase.

AEW Continental Classic 2024 Gold League - Ricochet vs Claudio Castagnoli

CC slams Ric and shoulders him over. Ric headscissors him twice. CC blocks a headscissors. Ric hurricanrana's him. CC goes out to stall. Ric is sent out. Ric moonsaults him off the apron, gets caught and dropped on the rails.

CC drops Ric on the rails then sends him into them. CC running euros him outside then throws him back in. Ric springboard dropkicks him and topes him outside. Ric goes to springboard but is dropped on the ropes gut first. CC running euros him in the corner. 

We go to PiP break and return. CC is pulled over the top. Ric topes him and both fall over even though it wasn't hard. Ric is caught coming off the top and takes a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. CC running facekicks him for 2.

Ric flips off of CC's shoulders then headscissors him out. Ric fosbury flops outside. Ric asai moonsaults him for 2. Ric superkicks and high kicks him. Ric springboards into CC's euro for 2.

CC double stomps Ric and sharpshooters him. Ric hurricanrana's him out of a ricola bomb. CC running sledgehammers him over and sends him out to the floor. Ric is sent into the rails. Ric is crotched on the rail and pushed over. CC running lariats him for the win.

Thoughts: The finish was odd here with CC winning out of nowhere. I feel like someone got hurt here. This was slower paced match than you would expect and CC was just not throwing and catch Ric around like he normally would.  I thought this went longer than it needed to and this just didn't do what it was supposed to.

Don Callis and Kyle Fletcher are interviewed by Renee. Don says they are trying to destroy Will and says they didn't just beat him, they skinned and decimated him. Don says they proved that Kyle is smarter, faster and better than Will and says they are just getting started. Kyle said he made it certain he's better than Will is every wya. He says he will prove it at The Continental Classic and said it belongs to him.

Adam Cole, Matt Taven and Mike Bennett come out. Cole says he's tired of playing this game and said MJF would fight him if he's the man he says he is, but he's a little b!tch. He says he swears that he will beaat him within an inch of his life when he gets his hands on him.

Kyle O'Reilly comes out. Kyle says Cole fought MJF and it didn't work. He says to let him fight MJF. Kyle goes to challenge MJF and Cole stops him. Cole says he doesn't want his friends to fight his battles, he needs to handle MJF. Kyle says he's not doing this for him, he's doing it for Roddy. They argue and MJF appears on the tron playing piano. He says no to fighting either of them. He says his mind is focused on the Dynamite Dozen Battle Royale. He says bye as far as seeing them in the near future and says he will play them out - he then plays the piano. Cole says he will be the first to enter the battle royale. Kyle says let him be the 2nd. Cole and Kyle then argue.

Thoughts: I'm pretty sure MJF botched the name of the battle royale. The MJF/Cole feud must continue on and bring more and more people into it...

Wrestle Dynasty International Women's Cup Qualifier 1st Round - Jamie Hayter vs Queen Aminata

They lock up and get off to a slow start. Jamie front facelocks her. Queen hip throws her. Jamie bangs her head off the buckles. They each hit chops. Jamie chop flurries her. Queen double chops her. Jamie suplexes Queen into the buckles.

We go to PiP break and return. They trade shots and hit each other on the ropes. Queen snap suplexes her. Queen running boots her through the ropes. Jamie takes an alley oop. Jamie uranage backbreakers her and Queen cradles her for 2. Jamie crucifixes her and does a grounded sleeper.

Jamie boots her or 2 then hits a lariat and wins.

Thoughts: I wasn't a fan of this. It was slower and had a lot of rough spots. The crowd wasn't into it and the match just didn't flow that well.

The lights go out and a spotlight is on the stage. Nothing else happens though.

Renee interviews Mina Shirakawa. She says she knew the day would come and was waiting a long time for Toni to turn on her. She says if she could do it to Toni, she could do it to her. Mina says this is the real Mariah May and says she's selfish. She says she kills anyone who gets close to her and says if that's he real Mariah May, she will introduce her to the real Mina. Mariah May then hits her from behind with a champagne bottle and whips her with her title belt. She says she wants Mina and stares at the camera. They announce a match with them in 2 weeks at Winter is Coming.

AEW Continental Classic 2024 Gold League - Darby Allin vs Brody King

Brody pushes him over and flips Darby. Brody hits sentons. Brody corner splashes him and throws him. Darby is seated on the ropes and Brody chops him down to the floor.

We go to PiP break and return. Both guys are down on the floor and the commentators aren't talking. Darby is crotched up top. Darby is put in tree of woe and takes a cannonball. Commentary is still silent.

Darby bites Brody and the audio comes back. Darby hits a code red off the buckles for 2. Darby tope con hilos Brody through the ropes then coffin drops him off the top to the outside. Brody is laying on the floor and Darby hits another coffin drop. Darby goes for a coffin drop inside and is caught with a sleeper. Brody does an over the shoulder piledriver and wins.

Thoughts: I don't like Darby losing here. They are trying to push him and he has now lost twice in a short period of time. The match went as expected with Brody throwing Darby around and Darby doing some flying on him. They did a little much but I liked the idea of it.

Claudio Castagnoli comes out to hit Darby with a chair. Brody stares at him.

Overall thoughts: I thought it was an average show. There wasn't a ton of storyline stuff going on as expected with The Continental Classic starting and the matches were hit and miss. Nothing was particularly great on this one. I would give this a 5 out of 10 and would not recommend this.
