New Japan Pro Wrestling 11/29/2024 World Tag League 2024 Day 9

Daiki Nagai vs Shoma Kato

They lock up. Nagai chops him on the ropes and side headlocks him. Nagai shoulders him over and stomps him. Nagai hiptosses him for 2. Nagai slams him and elbow drops him for 2. Kato shoulders him over.

Kato hiptosses him for 2. Kato slams him then crabs him. Kato stomps on him. They trade forearms and Nagai crossbodies him. Nagai hits a nice dropkick then crabs him. Kato armdrags and dropkicks him. Nagai sunset flips him for 2.

Kato dropkicks him then back body drops him. Kato crabs him again and submits him to win.

Thoughts: It was an okay opener here with them doing the usual young lions moves. They hit their stuff clean here and there were no issues with it.

Oleg Boltin, Tiger Mask & Toru Yano vs. Just 4 Guys (DOUKI, Taichi & TAKA Michinoku)

Taka twists Oleg's fingers and shin kicks him. They shoulder battle. Oleg lifts him but Douki breaks it up. Oleg hits a double shoulderblock. Yano comes in and pulls off the turnbuckle pad. Taka eye pokes Yano and sends him into the exposed buckle.

Taka bangs Yano's arm off his shoulder. Douki elbows Yano's arm. Tai stomps on Yano. Yano atomic drops him. Oleg comes in and shoulders Tai over. Oleg karelin's lifts him. Oleg corner splashes Tai then does a regular splash for 2. 

Tai side kicks Oleg. Tai running facekicks Oleg over. Tai hits Kawada kicks on Oleg and enzugiri's him. Oleg dropkicks him over. Tiger leg sweeps Douki and tilt-a-whirl backbreakers him when they get in. Tiger hits a pop-up powerbomb for 2. Tiger goes for the chicken wing and it is broken up.

Bushi step up enzugiri's Tiger then Tiger crucifixes him. Douki does the douki chokey and his partners also put submissions on at the same time. Tiger taps out.

Thoughts: It was just an opening card match. It didn't get much time and everyone got their one segment and not much else.

Tai and Oleg stare down after. 

BULLET CLUB (Gedo, Stevie Filip & Tome Filip) vs. House Of Torture (Dick Togo, EVIL & Ren Narita)

Bullet club attacks before the bell. Evil is sent into the post and Ren is sent into the apron. Stevie stomps on Ren then Ren chokes him. Stevie kneeling springboard swantons Ren. Ren takes corner attacks, a Tome german and a Tome suplex for 2.

Gedo works Ren's arm and hammerlocks him. Ren sends him out. Evil then sends Gedo into the rails, knocking over the timekeeper. Evil chokes Gedo with the mic cord and then puts the mic in his face. Ren chokes Gedo.

Togo hits punches on Gedo then takes some. Togo fist drops Gedo for 2. Evil chokes Gedo with a towel or shirt and tries pin attempts. Evil eye rakes Gedo and Gedo punches him. Tome gets in and shoulders the heels over.

Ren hangs off the bottom rope and Tome footpresses him down. Stevie eye pokes Evil then Evil eye pokes him and his brother. Ren takes a head kick + a drop for 2. Ren facebusters Stevie then takes a basbeall slide from Tome.

Gedo comes in and chokes Ren. Ren chokes Gedo then Gedo eye rakes him. Gedo jawbreakers him and superkicks him for 2. Gedo is sent into the exposed buckle by Ren. Ren then armbars him and submits him.

Thoughts: It was a heel vs heel match with lots of chokes and eye rakes. It made sene and they did what they were supposed to, but that doesn't mean it was exciting. 

United Empire (Great-O-Khan, HENARE & Jakob Austin Young) vs. TMDK (Kosei Fujita, Mikey Nicholls & Shane Haste)

Shane waistlock takedowns Jake and poses in the camera. Khan then takes Shane down by surprise and rolls him on the mat. Khn shoulders over Shane. Khan is tripped into a baseball slide and has his chest banged off the apron. Jake is sent into the rails.

Kosei chops and spinning enzugiri's Khan for 2. Mikey bites on Khan. Khan gets his legs split. Khan fireman's carry takeovers Mikey and rolling spinebusters shane. Hen then is tagged in. Hen shoulders over Mikey then sentons Shane.

Hen 2nd rope twisting enzugiri's Mikey. Mikey ddt's Hen. Kosei springboard dropkicks Hen. Jake comes in and hits corner euros on Kosei. Jake 2nd rope dropkicks him and backdrops him. Everyone starts getting a move in then Khan and Mikey double clothesline each other. Kosei germans Jake for 2. Kosei suplex lifts Jake and cutters him for the win.

Thoughts: It was a shorter match and was just average. There were too many people and not enough time to really get anything going.

Hiroshi Tanahashi, Jado & Katsuya Murashima vs. Los Ingobernables de Japon (BUSHI, Hiromu Takahashi & Tetsuya Naito)

HT = Hiromu Takahashi

HT stomps on Tana. Tana fights off attacks from the corner and does a 2nd rope twisting double crossbody. Jado and Tana do a double shoulder on Naito and a double elbow on HT. KM dropkicks Bushi then Tana's team does air guitar together.

Jado gets his legs split by the heels. KM gets his legs split and takes a double basement dropkick. Bushi hits forearms on Jado then Jado shoulders over Bushi.

Tana and HT get in. Tana flying forearms him. Tana slams him and 2nd rope swantons him. Tana dragon screws HT. HT cradles him and Tana slaps him. KM gets in and hits forearms on HT. KM flying forearms HT.

KM hits a nice powerslams on HT for 2. HT falcon arrows KM for 2. HT crabs KM and KM taps out.

Thoughts: It was a shorter and average opener. KM got to kick out of a falcon arrow here and got a little more offense in than usual. KM's been getting to do more and he's looking good doing it. There wasn't too much of note here in this one.

Naito figure fours Jado on the outside after as they fight tomorrow. Tana and HT stare down. Tana and Naito stare down.

World Tag League 2024 Block A Match - Bishamon (YOSHI-HASHI and Hirooki Goto) vs Alex Zayne and Ryusuke Taguchi

RT = Ryusuke Taguchi

RT and Goto go at it. RT boots him on the handshake and takes a double shoulder. Alex is suplexed onto RT then gets double clubbed on. Goto suplexes RT. Yoshi forearms and chops RT. Goto splits Rt's legs and boots him in the leg. Goto takes a hiptoss from RT.

Alex hiptosses Goto when he gets in and does a cinnamon twist. Alex suplexes him. Alex spinning back elbows him and enzugiri's him while laying down on the mat. Alex flipping legdrops Goto on the neck. Alex facekicks him and step up enzugiri's him. Goto hits an ushigoroshi.

Yoshi and RT come in. Yoshi spanks him. RT drives Yoshi's head into his butt then hip attacks him. RT hip attacks Yoshi on the ropes. Yoshi lariats him for 2. RT takes a double team then a russian legsweep + headhunter combo.

Alex breaks up a double team on RT and Taguchi gets a 2 count on Yoshi. RT and Yoshi trade forearms. RT enzugiri's him. Yoshi suplexes him. Alex takes a dragon suplex from Yoshi. RT atomic drops himself on Goto's knee on accident.

RT takes corner attacks then gets a surprise pin on Yoshi to win.

Thoughts: I wasn't a fan of this. It was mostly all Taguchi doing various hip attacks and it didn't get enough time.  

World Tag League 2024 Block A Match - Shota Umino & Tomoaki Honma vs. BULLET CLUB War Dogs (Gabe Kidd & SANADA)

Gabe chops Shota. They shoulder battle. Gabe uppercuts him. Shota shoulders him over. Gabe takes a basement dropkick and an elbow drop. Honma misses a headbutt drop. Gabe sends Shota into the rails outside and then talks him up to the building steps to the 2nd floor. Shota hits Honma with a bottle. Gabe and Shota fight on the 2nd floor. Shota is sent into the wall and Shota dents the wall.

Honma and Gabe trade shots in the ring. Shota comes down to ringside and is sent into the rails. Honma hits a ddt + flatliner combo. Shota running back elbows Gabe. Shota and Gabe trade forearms. Shota back elbows him then tornado ddt's him. 

Gabe exploders him then takes one back. Sanada eye rakes Honma. Honma boots him in the corner and bulldogs him. Honma misses a falling headbutt then ddt's him. Shota pop-up knees Sanada then hits ignitio. Honma falling headbutts Sanada. Shota dropkicks Gabe then Gabe hits a nasty rebound lariat. Shota double underhook ddt's Gabe. Sanada shining wizards Shota then dropkicks him. Honma jumping headbutts Sanada.

Sanada grabs the ref and low blows Honma. Honma cradles him for 2 then Sanada shining wizards Honma. Sanada does skull end on Honma and Honma taps out.

Thoughts: It was an average match. The brawling outside took up a lot of time (and dented a wall). The Shota and Gabe sections were good but we just didn't get enough of it to make this good.

World Tag League 2024 Block A Match - BULLET CLUB (Chase Owens & KENTA) vs TMDK (Ryohei Oiwa and Zack Sabre Jr.)

Kenta hits forearms on Oiwa and running facekicks him. Oiwa forearms him. Kenta is sent into the rails and Oiwa side headlocks him. Chase then gets sent into the rails. Oiwa boot flurries Kenta in the corner and chops on him.

Zack euros Kenta then twists his neck with his feet. Oiwa slams Kenta 3 times and boots him in the head. Kenta slaps him down. Zack is sent into the rails outside by Chase. Kenta kicks Oiwa in the back outside.

Kenta hits chest kicks on Oiwa. Chase catapults Oiwa's neck into the bottom rope and hits punches on him. Chase pushes the ref over during it and the ref doesn't care. Kenta neckbreakers Oiwa. Chase forearms Oiwa over then Kenta kicks Oiwa in the back. Oiwa hits forearms and Chase hits the knee. Kenta spin kicks him and misses a corner charge. Oiwa pulls Chase over the top and goes for the tag but Chase pulls Zack down off the apron. Kenta beats up on Oiwa. Oiwa hits a double lariat on the heels.

Zack comes in and hits euros on Chase. Zack pele kicks the arm and dropkicks him in the back. Zack twists the neck with his feet and dropkicks him. Chase does an STO into a senton on Zack. Zack armbars chase on the buckles and Chase like snapmares him down in an odd way.

Chase fights off an octopus. Zack hits some facekicks and is lariated over. Chase pumping knees Zack on the ropes. Zack michinoku drivers Chase. Kenta and Oiwa go at it, docking a hockey fight. Oiwa gutwrench suplexes him and splashes him for 2. Oiwa running euros Kenta.

Kenta rolls up Oiwa for 2. Kenta corner dropkicks him then hits a top rope double stomp for 2. Oiwa backslides him. Kenta spinning chops him and Oiwa corner larists him. Oiwa lariats him over for 2. Zack PK's Kenta and Oiwa olympic slams Kenta for 2. Oiwa misses a lariat and hits a doctor bomb for 2. Zack puts a sleeper on at the ssame time. Oiwa takes a low blow then Kenta hits a GTS on him to win.

Thoughts: This went almost 20 minutes. I don't know who thought that was a good idea. It was a boring and generic match with little of note. This didn't even look good on paper.

World Tag League 2024 Block B Match - Jeff Cobb and Callum Newman vs Shingo Takagi and Yota Tsuji

CN gets sent into Cobb early then takes a double shoulderblock. CN then takes a senton and splash. Yota hits corner spears. CN trips him into a double stomp. Cobb knocks Shingo off the apron then stands on Yota. Cobb headbutts Yota. CN sleepers him and double stomps his back.

Cobb hits punches on Yota then slams him. Cobb stands on Yota's back then bangs his head off of CN's foot. Yota tilt-a-whirl backbreakers him. Shingo is tagged in. He misses a senton on CN then sends Cobb into CN. Shingo overhead suplexes Cobb.

CN running facekicks Shingo and corkscrew kicks him. Shingo back elbows Cobb and gets slammed when he tries a ddt. Cobb misses a standing moonsault. Yota is tagged in and top rope diving headscissors Cobb. Yota corner splashes Cobb and baseball slides him.

Cobb catches Yota's flying headscissors and slams him. Cobb and Yota trade forearms. Yota does his curbstomp combo on Cobb. Cobb dropkicks Yota. CN and Shingo get in. CN PK's him for 2. Shingo back elbows and lariats him.

Shingo forearms CN down. They trade forearms. CN spin kicks him in the gut then Cobb runs in and hits a spinning backdrop on him. Cobb and CN superkick Shingo then hit a high/low for 2. 
CN buzzsaw kicks Shingo. Yota corner splashes CN then Shingo corner lariats him. CN takes a wheelbarrow german from Shingo for 2. Yota goes for a spear but Cobb spinebusters and standing moonsaults him. CN headflips out of a ddt on Shingo and hits an os cutter for 2. We're at 15 minutes now.

Shingo headbutts CN over then CN kips up and enzugiri's him. Shingo lariats him over. Cobb germans Shingo the running knees him for 2. Yota flying pumping knees Cobb. CN is popped up into a Yota superkick then Shingo running lariats CN. Shingo hits a made in Japan on CN for 2. CN takes a spear + lariat combo and is pinned.

Thoughts: It was a good tag match. The four worked really well together and kept a good pace. They had some nice new double teams and everyone put out a solid effort. This was exactly what you would want it to be and one of the few Tag League matches that actually lived up to expectations so far. I wish we could have gotten another 5 minutes out of of this.

Shingo talks on the mic after. Yota talks on the mic as well.

Overall thoughts: I liked the main and not much else. It was just an average house show here and just not everyone's best work. The semi-main went too long and the other Tag League matches didn't get enough time. I'd give this a 5 out of 10 and would not recommend this.
