AEW Rampage 11/1/2024
Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2024/10/aew-rampage-10252024.html
BEEF, JD Drake & The Butcher vs. La Faccion Ingobernable (Dralistico, Rush & The Beast Mortos)
Is Butch a face here? I dunno. The two teams forearm each other to start. Dral spin kicks and chops Beef. Dral flying shoulders him then stomps him. Beef cartwheels off the ropes and dropkicks Dral. Beef corner splashes Dral then JD slingshot swantons Dral. JD then does the LFI/Naito pose.
Rush and Butch trade shoulders, forearms and chops. Rush spinning forearms Butch. Mort hits attacks on Butch. Butch chops him and tags out. Mort and JD go at it. JD back elbows him then does a 2nd rope leg lariat on Mort.
JD chops Mort up. Mort pop-up samoan drops him but struggles to lift him. Rush sends JD into the rails then hits shots outside. Rush then pulls on JD's mouth. Rush and JD chop each other. Mort corner lariats JD and Rush corner splashes JD. Dral superkicks JD.
Rush boots JD in the face and poses. We go to PiP break and return. JD and Rush trade chops. JD spinebusters Rush. Beef gets in and hits shots on all 3 opponents. Dral is back body dropped over the top onto Mort. Beef hits nice punches on Rush.
Beef corner lariats and bulldogs Rush. Beef goes up top and is knocked down. Dral superkicks JD outside then Mort football tackles Butch. Dral springboard codebreakers Butch and Mort cannonballs Butch. Rush corner dropkicks Butch and pins him.
Thoughts: It was entertaining but LFI going 50/50 with jobbers didn't do very much to get them over. This did get Beef over more though. Jake was not with LFI to further his cold start as LFI's manager.
Stokeley Hathaway is interviewed by Renee. Stoke takes credit for Private Party winning the tag titles. He says he pushed them in the right direction and calls himself the architect of champions.
Taya Valkyrie vs Zoey Lynn
Taya comes out with Deonna and her tron has "The Vendetta" on it.
Taya lariats Zoey over then boots her. Zoey hits chest forearms then Taya blue thunders her. Taya curbstomps her and wins.
Thoughts: It was a short squash here with Zoey getting nothing in and Taya needing little to get the win.
Renee interviews Taya and Deonna after. Stokeley Hathaway interrupts. Stoke says Zoey was telling everyone that all they do is sit and eat meatballs. Stoke says if it were him, he would go out there, whoop her @ss and prove a point. Taya then goes back out and beats up on Zoey. Taya curbstomps Zoey on the floor. Deonna then stops Taya from doing more.
Thunder Rosa does a video on Harley Cameron. Rosa talks about Harley painting her face like her. She says she paints her face for Day of the Dead and we hear clips of Harley saying some things back including that Rosa is in trouble.
Queen Aminata vs Leila Grey
Grey wristlocks her and Queen reverses it. Queen side headlock takeovers her and Grey cradles her. Grey side headlock takeovers her then Queen does it to her. Grey headscissors her. Queen underhook suplexes her. Queen lariats her.
Grey hits chest forearms and kicks. Grey basement dropkicks her. Queen hits an air raid crash and Grey kicks out easy at 2. Queen puts her legs around Grey's head and pushes her forward. Queen then does a grounded dragon sleeper.
Queen snap suplexes her. Grey bulldogs Queen for 2. Grey back elbows her. Grey 2nd rope blockbusters her for 2. Queen double chops her then taps her out with a grounded octopus.
Thoughts: Like the opener it was one of the matches where a wrestler got the win but it didn't help them out much. Grey never wins and there was no doubt she was losing here yet she got a lot in. It wasn't that good. The two didn't work that well together and had some miscommunications early on.
Top Flight come out after for their match before Grey is gone and Grey just kind of waves them off.
Action Andretti & Top Flight (Dante Martin & Darius Martin) vs. The Dark Order (Alex Reynolds, Evil Uno & John Silver)
AA = Action Andretti
Darius wristlocks Alex. Alex snapmares him then crucifixes him. Alex side headlocks him then shoulders him over. Uno and Dante go at it. Uno shoulders him over then chops him. Dante flips over him off the ropes. Dante ddt's him then AA does a seated moonsault outside on Uno.
We go to PiP break and return. AA hits kicks on Silver then falcon arrows him for 2. Dante jumping knees Alex then takes a facekick from Uno. Darius stunners Uno over the top rope. Silver takes an assisted torture rack neckbreaker.
Uno saves Silver from a double suplex. Uno flatliners AA. Darius takes a sequence from The Order for 2. Darius dropkicks Uno and AA top rope double crossbodies Uno and Silver. AA tries to take the rib tape off of Alex. Dante says this isn't what they do. AA argues with him about it. Uno kicks Dante, AA kicks uno then Alex rolls up AA for 2.
AA knees Alex in the gut. Alex is thrown ribs first into the post. AA split-legged moonsaults Alex and pins him.
Thoughts: I didn't like the booking of this match. These guys have been allied for the last few weeks in the war against Mox's crew and now they are fighting here. They teased dissension with Top Flight after over AA wanted to be more heelish. It was an average match for the most part.
The Dark Order and Top Flight argue after. The announcers put over that they are on the same team - Team AEW. Lio Rush then comes out early and shakes hands with The Martin's but not AA.
Lio Rush vs Komander
Kom = Komander
Lio boots Kom in the gut. Lio throws him over then Kom rolls him up. The two stare down and they shove each other. Kom dropkicks him. Lio handspring kicks Kom off the apron and hits a tope.
We go to PiP break and return. Lio misses a top rope splash. Kom back elbows him then springboard twisting crossbodies him. Kom hits leg kicks, does rope tricks and diving armdrags him. Kom superkicks him. Kom walks up the buckles and moonsaults Lio for 2.
Lio stunners Kom and Kom blocks a cravate snapmare. Kom takes a pop-up powerbomb then Lio short arm clotheslines him. Lio falcon arrows him for 2. Lio yells at a fan outside and gets kicked. Kom backcrackers him on the apron. Lio hits a seated springboard stunner. Lio misses a top rope splash and Kom crucifixes him for 2.
Kom superkicks Lio. Kom rope walk ssp's Lio and wins.
Thoughts: Like the last match, these guys were allied the last few weeks against Mox's crew and are now fighting each other. Kom got a rare win here as he never wins. The match wasn't as good as it should have been. Things really slowed down in the middle of this and lost the match's momentum. Something must have happened because it got awkward.
Overall thoughts: It was the usual Rampage show. The matches were random and not much happened storyline wise. The matches were so-so. The semi-main and main had issues because they had faces go against faces in both. That would be a problem on its own but the faces were aligned together against Mox's crew over the last few weeks so that made it even worse. It wasn't AEW's best work and even Komander vs Lio wasn't really the match you would expect out of this. I'd give this one a 3 out of 10.
