New Japan Pro Wrestling 11/27/2024 World Tag League 2024 Day 7

Shoma Kato vs. Masatora Yasuda

Yasuda dropkicks him then stomps on him in the corner. Yasuda hiptosses him for 2 then slams him. Yasuda elbow drops him. Yasuda chinlocks him and Kato ropebreaks. Kato legbars him. Kato kneebreakers him and yanks on the leg.

Kato leglocks him. They trade forearms and Yasuda running forearms him over. Yasuda hits a nice dropkick for 2. Yasuda crabs him. Kato armdrags him then dropkicks him. Kato back body drops him then crabs him. Yasuda then taps out.

Thoughts: It was your usual young lions match with dropkicks, forearms and crabs. They did what they could with it but it wasn't that interesting nor was it much of note. I'm just glad it didn't go to another draw.

They throw an ice pack at each other after and continue fighting. 

Oleg Boltin, Tiger Mask & Toru Yano vs. United Empire (Great-O-Khan, HENARE & Jakob Austin Young)

Yano hits Hen in the back of the head and takes a turnbuckle pad off. Hen hits him in the back of the head and sentons him. Yano rubs Hen's head and Hen shoulders him over. Tiger spin kicks Jake. Jake is thrown off the top rope.

Tiger misses a corner charge and legsweeps Jake. Jake dropkicks him. Yano and Oleg get knocked off the apron. Oleg gets sent into the rails outside and Jake foot chokes tiger. Khan hits mongolian chops on Tiger. Khan slams him for 1.

Khan sits on Tiger's neck on the buckles. Khan hiptosses Tiger. Tiger flips and double back kicks Khan then tags out. Oleg gets in and shoulders over Khan hard. Oleg slams Khan. Oleg karelin's lifts him.

Jake hits spin kicks on Oleg. Oleg catches him on a hurricanrana and karelin's lifts him. Oleg misses a corner charge and takes shots then a 2nd rope dropkick. Oleg finlay rolls Jake and wins.

Thoughts: It was a short one. Everyone got their segment in and not much else. Oleg looked good here but it was just a way to get people on the card and kind of a waste of time.

House Of Torture (Dick Togo, EVIL & Ren Narita) vs. TMDK (Kosei Fujita, Mikey Nicholls & Shane Haste)

The heels attack before the hell. TMDK is thrown out. Mikey shoulders over the heels and slams Togo. Togo is thrown into the rails. Evil takes shots in the corner. Evil gets his legs split then Kosei PK's him for 2.

Kosei chinlocks and pulls his arms back. Evil grabs Mikey by the hair and sends him into the exposed buckle. Evil chokes Mikey with a shirt. Ren eye rakes Mikey and sends him into the exposed buckle. Ren rakes Mikey's face on the ropes.

Mikey ddt's Ren. Shane gets in and dropkicks Ren. Shane corner euros Ren. Shane leg lariats and cannonballs Ren and Evil in the corner. Ren rolling armbars Shane.

Ren boots him in the face and eye rakes him. Shane reverse slams him. Togo and Kosei get in. Kosei step up kicks him. Kosei springboard dropkicks him for 2. Togo hits a shot to the face. Kosei takes corner attacks then takes a 2nd rope chop to the nuts. 

Togo chokes Kosei with a weapon. Evil takes a powerbomb + uranage combo. Kosei hits forearms on Togo. Kosei belly to belly suplexes Togo. Kosei does a surfboard variation on Togo and taps him out.

Thoughts: HoT didn't break the rules too much so it was more tolerable than usual. The match was very average though and Togo taking the loss as he often does.

BULLET CLUB (Stevie Filip, Taiji Ishimori & Tome Filip) vs. Los Ingobernables de Japon (BUSHI, Hiromu Takahashi & Tetsuya Naito)

TI = Taiji Ishimori, HT = Hiromu Takahashi

Naito gets beat up by The Filip's to start. Naito back elbows Stevie then HT shotgun dropkicks Stevie. Stevie gets stomped on by HT and Hiromu. Naito hits back elbows on Stevie. Naito takes corner attacks from The Filip's. TI fist drops Naito then chokes him with a shirt.

Tome stomps Naito's arm into the mat. Naito dropkicks Stevie in the knee then neckbreakers Tome. HT is tagged in. He double crossbodies his opponents. HT stomps Stevie's legs then flying headscissors him.

HT get in and hits corner lariats on The Filip's. He then dropkicks Stevie into Tome. HT basement dropkicks Tome for 2. HT superkicks Tome then takes a spinebuster from him.

Bushi topes TI into the rails outside. Bushi ddt's TI. TI drops Bushi's gut onto his knees for 2. HT takes a lariat. Bushi rewind kicks TI then TI flying knees him. TI double underhook codebreakers him and wins.

Thoughts: Naito got almost no offense in on this one but we saw a lot of The Filip's. It was your usual short trios match that was very average.

The Filip's and HT/Naito argue after. HT rubs Stevie's face.

Hiroshi Tanahashi, Jado & Katsuya Murashima vs. Just 4 Guys (DOUKI, Taichi & TAKA Michinoku)

KM = Katsuya Murashima

Taka and Tana go at it. They shoulder battle. Taka kicks him in the shin and slaps him. Tana 2nd rope twisting crossbodies him. Taka takes a double shoulder then Tai takes a double back elbow. KM dropkicks Douki then Taka's team all plays air guitar together.

Jado gets his knee stomped on by Taka. Bushi ties Jado's leg around the ropes. Tai stomps on Jado's knee. Tai snapmares him and kicks him in the back. Jado shoulders Tai over. Tana gets in and flying shoulders Tai.

Tana blocks Tai's facekick then dragon screws all 3 opponents. Tana slams Tai then 2nd rope flipping sentons him for 2. Tai grabs Tana by the gut then side kicks him. Tai corner facekicks Taka then Taka hits a twist and shout on him.

KM and Douki get in. KM hits forearms and Douki chops him. KM shoulders him over. Douki takes a triple team and a powerslam from KM. KM then crabs him. Douki slams and double stomps KM. KM cradles and rolls up Douki. Douki step up enzugiri's him and Douki douki chokey's him. Douki then submits KM with the hold.

Thoughts: It was another short one here. KM had a nice powerslam. Tana did his usual stuff and this one wasn't much of note. They wasted some time working on Jado's knee as it amounted to nothing.

World Tag League 2024 Block A Match - Shota Umino & Tomoaki Honma vs. FUNKY SAUCE (Alex Zayne & Ryusuke Taguchi)

RT = Ryusuke Taguchi

RT and Shota go at it. They shoulder battle. RT goes for the ankle lock and Shota escapes. Alex and Honma go at it. They trade forearms. Alex back elbows him and double knee drops his back. Alex hits a cinammon twist. Honma shoulders over Alex then RT takes a double shoulder.

Shota slams Alex then Honma misses a headbutt drop. Alex cutters Honma for 2. RT stomps on Honma then legbars him. RT does a rolling figure four variation on Honma. RT double axe handles Honma's arm. RT corner hip attacks Honma.

Honma lariats RT. Shota running back elbows RT. Shota dropkicks Alex. Shota fisherman suplexes RT for 2. RT hip attacks him. Shota takes a corner hip attack then is headscissored into RT's butt. RT running hip attacks him for 2.

Shota back body drops Alex over the top. RT tries to hip attack Shota but is atomic dropped. Shota spinning forearms him. RT ankle locks Shota. RT enzugiri's Shota. Shota uranages him and RT no sells it. RT running hip attacks him.

Honma comes in and knocks over Alex. Honma slams him then hits chops. Honma bulldogs him then misses a headbutt drop. Honma suplexes him. Alex takes a pop-up knee and and exploder. Honma battering ram headbutts him and Shota hits ignition.

Alex hits kicks on Shota and flipping legdrops Honma's neck. Shota tornado ddt's Alex and Honma headbutts Alex for 2. Honma headbutt drops Alex then Alex rolls him up for the win.

Thoughts: It was a decent match with Taguchi working more serious than usual and they getting some nearfalls in. It wasn't great but much better than the usual Taguchi comedy. I liked the Honma and Shota team and think they mesh pretty well together.

World Tag League 2024 Block A Match - United Empire (Callum Newman & Jeff Cobb) vs. BULLET CLUB War Dogs (Gabe Kidd & SANADA)

CN = Callum Newman

The fight starts before UE even get in. CN does a tope con hilo on the heels outside. Gabe and Cobb fight in the crowd. Gabe goes into the seats. Sanada chairs CN and Gabe bites Cobb. CN is sent into the chairs. Gabe chairs Cobb then sends CN into the post.

Everyone finally gets in and the bell rings. Gabe chops CN and gets into it with Sanada. The heels double boot CN. Cobb saves CN from a double team and Sanada takes a high/low. Sanada takes a high/low and a PK. Sanada magic screws Cobb.

Gabe hits a big lariat on Cobb for 2. Sanada suplexes Cobb then Cobb takes a double suplex. Cobb and Gabe lariat each other. Gabe slaps him then takes a single-arm F-5, rolling around Cobb's shoulders.

CN running knees Gabe for 2. CN superkicks Gabe then PK's him. Gabe slaps him and CN step up enzugiri's him. Gabe piledrivers CN then Sanada shining wizard's CN. Gabe piledrivers CN and wins.

Thoughts: This was short and didn't get enough time. They definitely rushed through the time they had which affected the selling some. What we got looked good but we did not get enough of it.

Sanada stares at Gabe after and walks out on him.

World Tag League 2024 Block A Match - BULLET CLUB (Chase Owens & KENTA) vs. Los Ingobernables de Japon (Shingo Takagi & Yota Tsuji)

LIJ is attacked before it starts. Chase back elbows Yota. Yota diving armdrags Chase then facekicks him. Chase takes a double shoulderblock. Shingo knees Chase in the gut and Chase knocks him over. Kenta pounds on Shingo outside and rams his back into the apron. Chase sends Yota into the rails.  

Chase hits punches on Shingo and stands on him on the bottom rope. Kenta hits corner spears on Shingo and eye rakes him. Shingo gets his legs split. Chase rakes Shingo's eyes and boots him in the corner. Kenta stands on Shingo's throat in the corner then hits chest kicks.

Shingo dragon screws him. Yota gets in and flying headscissors Chase. He tilt-a-whirl backbreakers Kenta. then shoulders him over. Kenta boots him out of the corner and tornado ddt's him over the top rope. Kenta chest kicks Yota down and Chase kicks Yota in the back.

Yota lariats Chase over. Shingo hits forearms on Chase then suplexes him for 2. Chase facekicks Shingo, spinning back elbows him and final cuts him. Kenta corner dropkicks Shingo then Chase top rope elbow drops Shingo for 2.

Shingo hits a ddt on Chase. Chase takes corner attacks and a double backdrop. Shingo lariats Kenta over. Yota superplexes Chase and Shingo sliding lariats Chase. Chase backrolls Shingo for 2 then la magistrals him for 2. Shingo hits forearms. Chase hits a jumping knee then Shingo lariats him.  Kenta distracts the ref. Chase low blows Shingo and knees him in the face. Chase package piledrivers Shingo and wins.

Thoughts: It was average. I had a feeling about half-way through that the heels were winning as Chase in particular was getting more offense in than usual. It generic heel stuff as usual.

Chase takes Shingo's Never Title but then throws it back in. Chase then throws a kid's hat.

World Tag League 2024 Block A Match - Bishamon (Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI) vs. TMDK (Ryohei Oiwa & Zack Sabre Jr.)

Oiwa and Goto lock-up. Oiwa headscissors him on the mat. Oiwa side headlocks him and they shoulder battle. Goto knocks Oiwa over then Oiwa shoulders Goto over. Zack takes a double shoulder then Oiwa is suplexed onto Zack. Zack has his back double clubbed on.

Yoshi and Zack trade shots then Zack pele kicks the arm. Zack twists the neck with his feet. Oiwa takes Yoshi down by the arm and armlocks him. Yoshi ropebreaks. Zack twists Yoshi's arm. Yoshi's arms are stomped into the mat and he takes armbars from both opponents.

Oiwa keylocks Yoshi. Zack euros Yoshi then Yoshi hits forearms on him. Goto gets in and shoulders Oiwa over. He then knocks Zack off the apron. Goto lariats Oiwa. Goto spinning heel kicks Oiwa then backdrops him.

Goto and Oiwa lariat battle and both go down. Yoshi and Zack get in. They trade shots. Yoshi neckbreakers him for 2. Zack gets in and tries to armbar Yoshi. Goto takes a double back elbow then elbow drops from both opponents. 

Yoshi tries to fight his opponents off with chops. Zack armbars Yoshi. Zack ties up the other arm as well. Yoshi lariats Zack. Zack catches Goto's spinning heel kick in the corner and ankle locks him. Zack kicks Goto down. Oiwa running euros Goto for 2. Oiwa germans Goto for 2.

Oiwa sleepers Yoshi then backdrops Goto. Zack PK's Goto and Oiwa doctor bombs Goto for 2. Oiwa sleepers Goto. Oiwa tries to fight off a double team. Zack corner euros Goto then Goto hits an ushigoroshi on him. Oiwa hits a double lariat.

Oiwa hits forearms on Goto while they are on their knees. They trade forearms. Oiwa takes a codebreaker then rolls up Goto off a double team for 2. Goto headbutts Oiwa over. Oiwa is lifted in the air and Goto diving bulldogs him for 2. Oiwa takes a double team elbow slice bomb and is pinned.

Thoughts: They tried but I didn't think it was the classic they were going for it. It was the best thing on the show without question but it could have been better. I thought they just needed more in the first half of this one.

Goto talks on the mic after.

Overall thoughts: I liked the main and the Honma match but it was an average show overall. The undercard was not that good and only two of the tag matches were decent. I'd give this one a 5 out of 10 and would not recommend it.
