New Japan Pro Wrestling 7/19/2026 G1 Climax 36 Day 3

A local airport official is in in the ring with Hiroshi Tanahashi. They announce that New Japan will have a show at the airport in Hokkaido on 9/18. 

United Empire (Jake Lee & Zane Jay) vs. Goto Revolutionary Army (Hirooki Goto & Tatsuya Matsumoto)

Jake is at the bell ringer's desk as the match starts. Zane ducks Tat's lock up and both tag out. Goto backs up Jake on the ropes. Jake clean breaks him and poses. Goto boots and clubs him. Goto is tripped and Jake hits Goto from behind. 

Jake grabs his medical glove and sticks his finger in Goto's mouth. Goto hits forearms on Zane. Zane misses a dropkick then takes a double shoulderblock. Zane is double clubbed on. Zane thesx presse Tat and pounds on him.

Jake tries to put the glove in Tat's mouth. Tat dropkicks him twice. Goto is sent out and Zane clubs on Goto outside. Jake running knees Tat in the gut for 2. Jake then quickly submits him with a guillotine.

Thoughts: This was short and crap for the most part. Jake screwed around and there was little of value in this. We did not need to see this.

United Empire (Great-O-Khan & Jakob Austin Young) vs. TMDK (Hartley Jackson & Ryohei Oiwa)

Khan and Oiwa start us off. Oiwa gets hit in his taped up spine. Khan stomps him. Jake chops Oiwa then Oiwa shoulders him over. Oiwa hiptosses and slams him. Khan taunts Oiwa outside, Oiwa goes for him and Jake knees him. Jake knees Oiwa in the gut. 

Oiwa hits forearms on Jake and Khan trips Oiwa. Khan sends Oiwa into the rails. Khan chains Oiwa in the gut and back. Khan stomach claws Oiwa then kneels on his gut. Khan mongolian chops Oiwa.

Oiwa ddt's Khan. Hart corner splashes Khan then lariats him for 2. Khan bites Hart's head and spits on him. Hart crossbodies Khan then misses a senton. Jake shining wizards Hart for 2. Hart powerslams Jake then sentons him for 2. Oiwa spinning lariats Khan. Jake enzugiri's Hart then shiranui's him for 2. Hart death valley drivers Jake and pins him.

Thoughts: This was mostly about Khan going to work on the taped-up Oiwa. It was average and it ended as it was starting to pick up.

Oiwa and Hart sit on the apron after and Khan kicks Oiwa. 

Konosuke Takeshita & Toru Yano vs. Unbound Co. (Gedo & Yuto-Ice)

KT and Ice trade forearms. Ice pounds on him in the corner with fast forearms. Ice leg kicks him and KT lariats him. They bump chests outside, throw the ref aside and trade forearms. Ice is sent into the rails and seats. KT sits in a seat and Ice hits chest kicks. Ice then sits down and lets KT forearm him. They continue to fight outside and this goes to a double countout.

Thoughts: Well, this was stupid, but at least the Takeshita/Ice battle was good.

KT and Ice battle in the crowd more and it gets broken up. KT then chases him, hits him with more forearms. They end up fighting again and Ice is pulled away.

House Of Torture (SANADA & Yoshinobu Kanemaru) vs. Unbound Co. (Daiki Nagai & Yota Tsuji)

San dropkicks Yota in the knee. San boots him out of the corner, misses a moonsault and Yota tilt-a-whirl backbreakers him. Yota is dragon screwed over the 2nd rope. Sanada boots Yota's leg around the rail. Yota's legs are split.

Yota is dropkicked in the knee for 2. YK yanks on Yota's leg and bangs it off the mat. Yota step up enzugiri's YK. Nagai comes in and he running forearms YK. Nagai pounces YK.

Nagai running back elbows him then corner dropkicks him. YK kicks Nagai in the knee then dropkicks him in it. Nagai dropkicks San. San takes running corner attacks and a spinebuster for 2. 

Nagai misses a top rope diving headbutt. San shining wizard's him and Nagai cradles him for 2. San spining dragon sleepers him and Nagai taps out.

Thoughts: Sanada worked Yota's leg here a bit. Nagai then came in and did a good job. He did some hard hits and showed some energy before going down. It was acceptable, mostly due to the Nagai.

Unbound Co. (Shingo Takagi & Taiji Ishimori) vs Oleg Boltin and Masatora Yasuda

Shingo and Oleg lock up. Shingo side headlcks him and they shoulder battle. Shingo hiptosses him then Oleg shoulders him over. TI and Masa get in. Masa hits forearms then shoulders TI over. Masa slams TI and TI ropebreaks. TI pulls Masa out then sends him into the rails. 

Masa takes a double back elbow then a basement dropkick from TI. Shingo suplexes Masa for 2. Masa hits forearms on Shingo and Shingo forearms back. Shingo knees Masa in the gut then Masa dropkicks him. Shingo knees Oleg in the gut. Oleg's head is banged off the buckles. Oleg rams Shingo into the buckles then slams him. Oleg splashes Shingo for 2. 

Oleg chops Shingo. Shingo pulls Oleg's arm around the top rope and suplexes him. Shingo hits forearms and a lariat on Oleg. They lariat each other at the same time. Shingo shoulder throws him. Oleg double shoulders over his opponents. 

Masa dropkicks TI then hits forearms on him in the corner. Masa hits 2 suplexes on TI then eventually hits a 3rd. TI boots Masa and eye rakes him. TI handspring corkscrew kicks Masa. TI shoulderbreakers Masa. 

Shingo pulls Oleg over the top and punches him outside. Masa hits forearms on TI then TI la mistica drops him. TI does a border city stretch and submits him.

Thoughts: I liked the Shingo vs Oleg sections here as they hit each other hard. That should be a good one. TI vs Masa was a little less exciting. It was acceptable.

G1 Climax 2026 Block B Match - Drilla Moloney vs. HENARE

They lock up twice. DM side headlock takeovers him and Hen headscissors him. DM handstands out. They trade forearms. DM facekicks him and Hen shoulders him over. DM shoulders him over. 

DM kicks him in the back and dropkicks Hen. DM is rammed back first into the post and slammed on the apron. DM is sent into the rails. Hen stomps DM. They trade forearms. Hen kicks him in the back and sentons him. 

They trade shots in the corner. Hen chokes him in the corner. DM step up enzugiri's him. DM forearms him and brainbuters him. DM dropkicks Hen through the ropes. DM top rope elbow drops Hen for 2. Hen facekicks him and pop-up samoan drops him. 

They trade some shots. They lariat battle. Hen hits him in the gut and running lariats him for 2. Hen step up knees him in the corner. DM powerbombs him for 2. Hen blocks a drilla killa and diving headbutts him in the face for 2. They trade shots. Hen spin kicks him in the face and jumps into a DM cutter. DM flying facekicks him for 2. DM spears Hen. Hen headbutts him in the chest and sitout powerbombs him for the win.

Thoughts: It wasn't quite as good as it could have been. It just got very slow in the middle of the match and lost some momentum. They did mostly do what you'd want them to do though and it was alright enough. They mostly traded strikes and stiff moves here.

G1 Climax 2026 Block B Match - Gabe Kidd vs. OSKAR

Gabe hits slaps and Os chops him. Gabe hits more slaps and Os chops him back. Gabe rebound lariats him and hits him so hard that he shoot drops him. Gabe slaps Os' back and Os hip throws Gabe across the ring. Os running back elbows Gabe then slams him. 

Os chops Gabe outside and they trade shots. Gabe is sent into the seats. Gabe bites and headbutts him. Gabe slaps him. Gabe grabs a chair and Os kicks the chair in Gabe's face. Os misses a legdrop inside and Gabe knees him in the face. Gabe hits another knee to the face for 2. 

Gabe does young lion push up exercises to taunt Os. Gabe headbutts Os and slaps him. Os back body drops him. Os leg drops Gabe for 2. They slap each other. Os chokeslams him for 2. Gabe drops Os shoulder first on the mat. Gabe piledrivers Os. Os gets back up and gets mad. Gabe forearms him and Os lifts him up by the throat. Gabe forearms and punches him. Gabe hits another piledriver. Gabe then pins him.

Thoughts: I didn't like the angle on those piledrivers as Gabe couldn't lift him all the way. I liked it otherwise though. They really hit each other hard and Os got to do more than generic big man offense. I'd like to see Gabe work on his punches though instead of doing slaps/open hand shots all the time as those don't look as good. It was an okay bout and they might have a great one in them on another day.

Gabe holds his title up at Taichi at the commentary table. Gabe then throws the title and tells him to come in and hit him. 

G1 Climax 2026 Block B Match - Ren Narita vs. Callum Newman

CN facekicks Ren out then he forearms him outside. They trade forearms there. Ren eye rakes him. Ren is sent into the rails and CN facekicks him over them. CN puts Ren in the seats. Dick Togo blocks CN then Ren hits CN with  chair. CN's head is banged off the bell ringer's table then Ren hits CN with the chair edge. CN is then sent into the seats.

Ren boots CN in the ring. Ren stomps CN in the corner. Ren flying neckbreakers him then kimura's the arm. Ren eye rakes CN. Ren kicks him in the arm. CN sweeps him and knees him in the ribs. CN hits mounted forearms on Ren. 

CN boots a chair into Ren's face. CN dropkicks Ren into the seats, jumping over Dick Togo. CN double stomps Ren's back in the ring for 2. Ren bangs CN's arm over the top rope then cobra twists him around the ropes. Ren sits up top and CN enzugiri's him. Ren facekicks him. CN pulls him down with a sleeper. Dick Togo rings the bell and CN lets go as he thinks he has it won. Ren grounded kimura's CN then Zane Jay rings the bell to make Ren break. CN flying lariats Ren and underhook suplexes him for 2.

CN lariats Ren for 2. CN PK's Ren. The ref gets knocked over. CN has powder thrown in his eyes by Togo. Ren low blows and facebusters CN. The ref goes to make the count and Zane pulls the ref out. Togo comes in and chokes Zane and CN with a weapon. CN takes a magic killer. Ren gets a 2 count on CN.

Ren drives CN's arm into the mat with his shoulder. Ren then submits CN with cattle mutilation. Ren wins.

Thoughts: Despite the HoT tactics, it wasn't bad. Because we had 2 sets of heels here, the heels weren't stupid like the faces and actually cheated back. That was more believeable and made more sense. They had an okay story here going on with Ren working CN's arm too.

G1 Climax 2026 Block B Match - Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Yuya Uemura

They do some amateur wrestling. Yuya takes him over. Yuya wristlocks him. Zack bridges out, goes between his legs and escapes. Zack full nelson's him. Yuya snapmares him into an armlock. Zack pulls Yuya's arms back. 

Zack escapes a full nelson twice and side headlocks Yuya. Yuya armdrags him and Zack side headlock takeovers him. Yuya headscissors him. Yuya gets a 2 count on him and armdrags him into an armlock. Yuya armlocks him. 

They trade abdominal stretches and Zack twists Yuya's neck with his feet. Zack euros him and cravates him. Zack goes between the legs and headbutts him in the gut. Yuya armdrags him and dropkicks him. 

Yuya tries a slingshot plancha but Zack cravates him off of it. Zack then twist Yuya's neck with his feet. Yuya yanks the arm and twists it with his legs. Yuya bangs Zack's arm off his shoulder. Zack sleepers him and Yuya backdrops him. Yuya goes for the armbar. Zack backrolls out and ankle locks him. Yuya rolls him into an armbar. Yuya triangles him and Zack tries a pin off of it. We are now 15 minutes in.

They trade forearms and Zack hits some euros. Zack uses facekicks on him. Yuya then goes for pins and Zack grounded sleepers him. Zack does a bridge pin with the legs trapped for 2. Zack hits euros. Yuya armdrags him into a crucifix for 2. Yuya wristlocks him. Zack tries to roll out but Yuya keeps it on. 

Zack michinoku drivers him for 2. Zack hits chest kicks on Yuya. Yuya enzugiri's him and michinoku drivers him. Yuya misses a top rope crossbody. Zack headscissors him with an armlock. Zack drops the hold. Zack lays on Yuya's back, ties his legs up and headscissors him. Yuya ropebreaks.

Zack euros Yuya. Yuya wristlocks him and germans him. Zack PK's him. Yuya dragon suplexes him for 2. Zack pele kicks the arm and euros him. Yuya front suplexes him. Yuya frogsplashes Zack for 2. Yuya top rope crossbodies him and pins him.

Thoughts: It was a longer one and was almost all technical wrestling. It wasn't that exciting and it really showed how limited Yuya's offense is. It always feels like Yuya is holding back in his matches and he just never gets the time to do a great match. He got the time here and it was mostly just the same stuff with the armdrags, armlocks, dropkicks and crossbodies. I thought this was a bit boring. As he often is, Zack wasn't real focused on any particular body part and just did random submissions, pin attempts and kicks during it.

Yuya talks on the mic after and high fives people in the crowd.  

Overall thoughts: We had the usual waste of time lower card tag matches to start. Sanada's match was acceptable, as was Shingo's tag. Drilla/Henare was alright but could have been better. Gabe/Oskar was okay and I think they maybe have a great one in them someday. Ren/Newman wasn't bad. Zack/Yuya was a bit boring. It was a bit of a weird card as some things were better than I expected and some things that were locks weren't as good as expected. I'd give it a lower 6 out of 10 as the G1 matches mostly delivered. The show was okay as a whole.
