Next week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2025/06/aew-collision-642025.html
This didn't air until after 10:30PM due to the NBA Playoffs. There should be a big lead-in. Will AEW have some big stars or a big match to capitalize off of that?
Alex Abrahantes and Komander are interviewed in an inset promo but it's half in Spanish and hard to understand. I think Kom said he beat CC last time and will do it again.
AEW International Title Qualifier- Claudio Castagnoli vs Komander
CC backs up Kom on the ropes and chops him. CC beats him up in the corner. CC STO's him. Kom spinning headscissors him off his shoulders then enzugiri's him. Kom ropewalks and pulls CC's arm down over the top rope. CC catches a springboard and giant swings Kom.
CC sends Kom into the rails outside and chops him. CC backdrops him on the rail. Kom springboards, jumps on his shoulders, then onto the top rope and moonsaults into an armdrag. Kom sattelite headscissors him then tope con hilos him through the ropes. Kom rope walks, dives on him and is caught with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker.
CC single leg crabs him. Kom facebusters him out of a powerbomb. CC gets on the 2nd rope and Kom hurricanrana's him down. Kom diving sunset bombs him. Kom walks up the buckles and misses a phoenix splash. CC neutralizers him. CC then wins.
Thoughts: It wasn't that good. CC had a bunch of problems catching his dives and that was about they really had in this one. It was short way to fill time.
We see an interview after Dynamite with Renee interviewing Swerve and Prince Nana.
Swerve says he deserved what Page did due to their history. He says they aren't friends. Will Ospreay comes up to Swerve. He says Swerve did what he did for opportunities. They argue and end up fighting each other.
The Don Callis Family (Konosuke Takeshita, Rocky Romero and Trent Baretta) vs Tomohiro Ishii and Paragon (Kyle O'Reilly and Roderick Strong)
The faces get hit as it starts and are pounded on. Trent plancha's out and meets a knee then Rocky topes Kyle. Rocky is dropped back first on the rail. KT and Trent are put on a chair and Kyle dropkicks them off the steps. Rocky takes a backbreaker then a knee from the buckles.
Rocky's knees are driving into Trent then is backbreakered. KT hits punches on Strong then Don Callis nails Strong. We go to PiP break and return. KT eye rakes Strong and Strong olympic slams him. Kyle comes in and hits kicks on Trent and Rocky.
Kyle knees Trent in the gut and germans him. Kyle jumping knees KT then pulls Rocky over the top. Kyle flying knees Rocky off the apron. Ishii and KT lariat battle. KT germans him. Strong fireman's carry gutbusters KT. KT then takes a kick and a sliding lariat for 2.
KT forearms Ishii then blue thunders him for 2. Rocky rewind kicks Strong then Kyle rebound lariats him. Trent half-nelson suplexes Kyle then Ishii lariats Trent. Ishii and KT trade. Ishii is pushed into the ref. He takes a knee to the face. Ishii is low blowed then then takes a falcon arrow and is pinned.
Thoughts: It was a fast paced and action packed match. The work was good but it was another random one for the most part and it was hard to get real invested in it.
AEW Continental Title Elimination - Kazuchika Okada (c) vs Anthony Bowens
Okada backs him up on the ropes and clean breaks him. Bowens clean breaks him then they push each other. Bowens hits kicks then over the back fameassers him. Bowens ushigoroshi's him for 2.
Okada slides out and they trade shots outside. Okada ddt's him on the floor. We go to break and return. Okada top rope elbow drops Bowens then flips off the crowd. Bowens does a half-straightjacket neckbreaker for 2.
Okada gets stuck on the ropes and takes a bridging twisting ddt from the 2nd rope. Bowens backslides him then Okada hits an over the back neckbreaker on the knee. Bowens pump kicks him.
Bowens superkicks him then Okada dropkicks him. Okada hits a rainmaker and wins.
Thoughts: It was an average match here with an obvious outcome. They didn't really get enough time to do anything too great with this and Bowens can't really do a lot but execute his various moves. I'm not sure why we needed to see this.
Lexi interviews Matt Menard and Daniel Garcia. DG talks about his loss at DoN and Menard tries to hype him up. Don Callis comes in with Lance Archer and asks what he's doing with Menard. Don says DG needs to be part of his family and not listening to him. Matt says let's ask Kenny and Will how good of a mentor he is. DG calls him an old man and Don says he's a rich and successful old man. Don says he wants him to do something he hasn't done in a while - think.
Tony Schiavone is in the ring and brings out FTR and Stokeley Hathaway. Stoke says FTR proved they are living legends at DoN and that Nigel belongs behind the commentary booth. Stoke says since we are the border, FTR is issuing an open challenge to any team south of the border. Atlantis Jr. and Templario just happen to be here and come out.
Cash says he respects Atlantis' father and says they are lucha legends themselves. Cash says they held gold in Mexico before and says maybe they become 8-star FTR and be a warm-up for them in CMLL. They have mic issues and Dax says he has no problems with them. Dax says FTR are big stars and says nobody knows who Atlantis and Temp are. He says they have stupid Power Ranger masks on.
Dax asks what their dream match is and takes the mic away. He says he's sure Tony Khan has big plans for them so they can't fight them. Dax talks more about Atlantis Sr. Dax tells Atlantis to tell his dad to keep his old @ss at home and not mess with FTR. Atlantis says he's here, not his father and then talks in half-Spanish.
FTR ends up punching out the luchadores. Atlantis top rope crossbodies Dax. Atlantis is popped up into a double dropkick. Temp then does a flying space tiger drop outside. Atlantis talks in Spanish and says see you soon as they are going to kick their @ss.
Thoughts: I wasn't a big fan of this segment. It was random, it went on too long, it was half in Spanish and I'm sure most of the audience was wondering why should they care.
Skye Blue vs Mina Shirakawa
This is a lose-lose here. Skye's returning and shouldn't lose. Mina just lost at the PPV and shouldn't lose.
They lock up and let go. Skye trips her and stomps on her. They trade forearms. Skye suplexes her. Mina ducks a shot then is kicked in the back as she poses. Mina superkicks her in the gut. Mina walks up the buckles and knee presses her arm down for 2.
Mina facekicks her on the apron, Skye facebusters Mina on the apron. We go to PiP break and return. Mina flying knees her. Mina spinning forearms Skye then neckbreakers her. Mina dragon screws her.
Skye sitout powerbombs Mina for 2. Skye step up knees her on the ropes then superkicks her. Mina uraken's her.
Mina top rope diving slingblades her for 2. They each try pin attempts. Mina spinning forearms her and urakens her. Mina lifting sitout reverse ddt's her and wins.
Thoughts: As I said, it was a lose-lose situation here with Skye taking the L. It was basically face vs face and was a very average match.
Julia Hart jumps Mina after. Skye helps out. Toni Storm then comes out. Toni saves Mina then Skye and Hart run.
We get a rare video on The Gates of Agony. They ask about what you are willing to sacrifice and if you can rise to the occasion against them. They ask if you are willing to gamble with your life and say to step up.
Gates Of Agony (Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona) vs Cosmo Orion & GMO Kaminari
Toa has new short trunks here that look weird on him. Cosmo is thrown into the corner and chopped. Cosmo enzugiri's him out of the corner then Kaun back elbows him. Kaun uranage beckbreakers him then running suplexes him. Cosmo's flying headscissors is blocked and he is buckle bombed. Cosmo takes a double throw.
GMO comes off the top and doesn't face Toa at all. GMO hits a dropkick. Toa no sells it then pounces him hard. Kaun shotgun dropkicks Cosmo. GoA hit corner attacks then GMO takes a t-gimmick onto his partner. Toa then pins both by sitting on them.
Thoughts: I liked it. I was amused by Cosmo and GMO and they got run over as expected here.
Max Caster is at some "All Elite Experience" conference and is trying to get the crowd to do this chant. He offers to take pictures with the fans but says they need to sign his petition saying he's the best wrestler alive. Max then offers to take pictures but runs away.
AR Fox & Top Flight (Dante Martin & Darius Martin) vs. La Faccion Ingobernable (Dralistico, Rush & The Beast Mortos)
Jake is not with LFI, but I don't think he has been for a while and that angle might as well be over. Leila Grey is not wearing a lot of clothing.
The 6 men fight and the faces are thrown out. Rush takes the turnbuckle pad off. AR kips down and up out of a lariat then hits an enzugiri. AR sweeps Mort on the apron then does his flip into the ropes into a double stomp. He then dives onto Dral off of it. Darius topes Rush outside then Dante topes Mort outside.
Dante rolls into a ddt on Rush for 2. Mort spinning heel kicks Dante. Darius vaults off the top rope and kicks Mort. AR kicks Dral over then is belly to belly suplexed into the buckles.Rush forearms AR then boots him in the face and poses. We go to PiP break, full break and return. AR takes corner attacks then a triple basement dropkick for 2. AR top rope flip dives Mort in the ring. Dral is bulldogged into the 2nd rope then superkicked. Darius flatliners him off the bottom rope for 2.
Mort is dropkicked into a german suplex. Darius tornado ddt's Rush off of Dante. Dral takes corner attacks then is thrown into a cutter for 2. Dral springboard canadian destroyers Darius for 2.
AR is german'd and ends up hanging on the 2nd rope over it. Dral springboard codebreakers Dante. Dral then tope con hilos AR. Mort tornillo topes Dante outside. Mort stomps on Darius in the corner then does his you get the horns basement dropkick. Rush then pins Darius.
Thoughts: It was a very fast paced and somewhat rushed match. It was entertaining with tons of highlights and cool moves but this didn't do much for either team. LFI isn't around enough to ever get anywhere and all Top Flight/AR do is lose.
LFI choke Darius with a cable after. Mike Bailey and Komander come out and make the save.
Mark Briscoe does a promo about the match on Dynamite. He says Mox made him tap out. Mark says his son asked if he quit. He said he didn't quit but you win and lose some. He says he wants Mox 1v1 and it's not about the title. He says Mox better be ready to man up.
AEW International Title Qualifier Match - Hechicero vs. Mascara Dorada
Here's another random one.
Hech wristlock takedowns him. MD wristlocks him back. MD takes him down by the leg. They trade holds on the mat. Hech pulls him down off the leapfrog then surfboards him. Hech escapes a surfboard. MD wraps around the post outside and headscissors Hech.
MD rope walk hurricanrana's Hech then takes a headscissors drop on his head. Hech step up knees him in the corner. We go to PiP break and return. Kom headscissors him then tornillo plancha's him.
MD top rope crossbodies Hech then Hech flips him into a grounded sleeper. MD dropkicks him.
MD flips off the top and Hech spinning shoulders him. MD spinning headscissors him off the shoulders then hits a code red for 2. Hech hits a top rope diving elbow on MD for 2.
They trade chops. Hech hits punches and chops. MD does a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker with both knees. Hech is on the 2nd rope and is poisonrana'd. MD then top rope ssp's him and wins.
Thoughts: At least they didn't overdo it here, but I hated the whole idea of this match. It was a completely random match between two people who aren't even in the company. It was slow as well. I didn't think it was that good and I just couldn't get into this.
Overall thoughts: This was an awful show from AEW. It was random, there was almost no effort put into it, we had an all-CMLL main event for some reason and we had some dumb stuff like Skye losing and turning heel and Bowens losing again. There were no stars to be found whatsoever here. This was an example of AEW at it's worst and I'm going to give this a 2 out of 10. This is "How Not to Book Wrestling 101" and I do not recommend this.
