WOW Women of Wrestling 11/9/2024 Season 5, Episode 9

Jessie Jones and Big Rig Betty come out. She says David McLane needs to talk to her. Betty says The Fab Four brainwashed Holly and she wants her daughter back. Dave says Holly enjoyed being there. Jones says Holly doesn't know what's good for her. Jones says they need Dave to make this right.

The Fab Four and Holly Swag come out. Lana says they are all being so dramatic. Lana says Holly isn't being held hostage. She says she's living her best life and doesn't want to go back to eating beef jerky at the truck stop. Betty tells her to go back home with her. Holly says she has friends and Lana says she doesn't want to go back with them.

Jones says they will use her and she needs to go back to her family. Jones wants Dave to do something about it and Dave says he can't. Holly says she likes eating good and having money. Jones says they should have a match for the custody of Holly and say the winner gets Holly. Lana agrees and says Miami's Sweet Heat will beat Jones and Betty. Dave makes it official for tonight.

Scout Parker vs Xena Phoenix

Scout used to be Ice Cold and this is her first match under the new gimmick. She's doing an environmentalist gimmick. Xena is "The Albanian Grappler" and this is her WOW debut.

They lock up. Scout knees her in the gut and Xena armdrags her. Xena front facelocks her and backrolls her. Xena takes her down and gets a 2 count. Xena snap suplexes her for 2. Scout flying back elbows Xena then running boots her. Xena is catapulted into the buckles and takes a backcracker.

Scout hiptosses her, rolls her and boots her in the face for 2 while talking about recycling in between. Scout hits a short hurricanrana spike and stomps her in the corner. Scout gets a 2 count on her.

Scout stomps on Xena then misses a standing moonsault. Xena jawbreakers her then armdrags her. Xena hits a japanese armdrag and codebreakers her arm. Xena armbars her and taps out Scout to win.

Thoughts: It was kind of a lose-lose as both could have used a win here. I would not have put these two in the same match. The match wasn't bad with Xena working the arm some en route to victory and Scout hitting her offense clean.

Scout attacks Xena after and throws her out.

Animal Instinct (Katarina Jinx and Goldie Collins) vs The Fierce Sisters (Roxxy and Foxxy Fierce)

Kat and Fox go at it. Kat wristlocks her. Fox cartwheels out and reverses it. Kat armlocks her then Fox armdrags her over. Fox backrolls her then backslides her for 2. Goldie and Rox go at it. They do a double knuckle lock. Goldie trips her then Rox trips her with a sweep. Rox hiptosses her then corner splashes her.

Goldie is tripped then takes butt drops to the back. Rox rolls her up for 2. Kat is tagged in. She takes an armdrag from Rox. Kat is tripped and takes an elbow drop from Fox for 2. Fox corner hip attacks her. Goldie neckbreakers Fox over the neck while the ref isn't looking. Kat drives Fox's head into the mat by hooking her leg around the mat.

Fox takes a double suplex and Rox breaks the count up. Kat comes in without being tagged in. Fox is snapmared and Goldie pulls her arms back. Fox gets out. Rox and Kat get in. Rox hits a knee to the gut and flying forearms Kat in the corner. Rox corner splashes her.

Kat eye rakes Rox and kicks her in the back. Kat then rolls up Rox and pins her.

Thoughts: It was average and the finish didn't look that good. Kat should have low blowed Rox or something to win instead of what she did. The faces didn't get a lot in but corner moves here.

Kat and Goldie get on the mic after. Kat says The Sisters were going to claw their way to the top, but that's Kat's domain. Kat says they are a sign of danger as they are animal instinct. 

Reina del Rey vs Tiki Chamorro

Reina has The Alliance with her. Adriana Gambino joins the commentary team. Tiki charges at Reina then is shouldered over. Teiki gets on her back with a sleeper but is rammed into the corner. Reina misses a corner charge and Tiki gets her back again. Tiki is thrown over and Reina boots her in the gut. BK Rhythm and Gigi Gianni choke Tiki on the ropes. They then pose with Tiki as Reina stands on her on the ropes. Gambino says BK and Gigi are her "goombahs".

Reina bangs Tiki's head off the buckles and hits forearms to the back. Tiki is dropped face first on the buckles then Gigi grabs Tiki on the ropes. Reina does a stiff meteora in the corner on Tiki. Tiki headbutts her. Reina blocks a sunset flip but misses the butt drop. Riki basement dropkicks her then low crossbodies her for 1.

Tiki gets on Reina's back with a sleeper. Reina drops her backwards but Tiki grabs hold of her again. BK gets on the apron and disrupts the ref as Reina taps out. The rf doesn't see it. Reina lariats Tiki in the back of the neck and wins.

Thoughts: I liked this one and it was well down. Reina uses her size against Tiki. Tiki wrestled lik the underdog and got screwed in the end.

They announce Valentina Diamante is coming to WOW. She says she was raised in Mexico. She says lucha is a big part of Mexican culture and says wrestling taught her to have a strong mind and body. she says her move to LA has been a crazy journey but only drives her to achieve her goals. She says she wants to be the superhero girls look up to.

Jessie Jones and Big Rig Betty talk from the locker room. Betty says she doesn't know what Holly is thinking. Betty says she will take Holly back south where she belongs after that. Jones says Holly knows better and will remind her of who she is and where she comes from. Betty says they will bring Holly kicking and screaming if she don't come.

Holly Swag talks to Lana Starr in the back. She says she wouldn't be here if it weren't for her mom. Lana says Holly deserves this and says she's a star. She says she will do amazing and has faith in her.

Next week's show has Penelope Pink vs Santana Garrett. They have a Road to the Championship hashtag for it.

Custody Match for Holly Swag - Miami's Sweet Heat (Lindsay and Laurie Carlson) vs Big Rig Betty and Jessie Jones

Linds and Jones go at it. Jones side headlocks her. Linds hits her in the gut and side headlocks her. Jones trips her then bangs her head off the mat. Linds' head is banged off the buckles. Jones running back elbows her then snapmares her. Jones sliding lariats Linds for 2.

Linds takes a double back elbow and a double elbow drop. Laur is thrown into the buckles. Betty bulldogs her then superkicks her for 2. Laurie is pulled down then Jones rolls her around with the bodyscissors. Jones corner hip attacks Laur for 2.

Laur chop blocks Jones and knocks Linds over with it as well. Laur falls out of the ring when she slides then bangs Jones' leg off the apron edge. Linds then bangs the leg off the post and pulls it around the bottom rope.

Laur hits knees to the back of Jones' leg. Laur pulls Jones' leg around the bottom rope. Jones has both of her legs driven into the mat. Linds pounds on the knee. Lind boots Jones' leg. Laur crabs Jones but Jones turns it into a pin attempt. Laur pounds on the knee.

Laur chinlocks Jones. Linds ankle locks Jones. Jones boots her off. Betty gets the hot tag in. She hits shots on Laur and germans her. Betty russian legsweeps Linds for 2. Laur elbow drops Linds on accident. Betty stunners Laur then lariats Lind. Holly Swag trips Jessie Jones and hits Betty in the head with a sack of rocks. Miami's Sweet Heat then gets the win.

Thoughts: Wow. Holly turning on her own mother was pretty wild and unexpected. It's always kind of hard to buy relatives turning on relatives and a daughter turning on her mother is even harder to buy. I don't think I would have done it the way they did. I think it would have been better if like Betty and Laurie were down and Holly put Laurie's arm over Betty for the pin. That would have been more believable. Or they could have had Holly cost Betty the match on accident somehow. I don't know if they can go back on this one if it doesn't work out as expected. The match was pretty good with the heels working Jones' arm, Betty getting the hot tag in then getting beaten. MSH slipped all over the mat outside though for some reason which was a bit humorous.

Overall thoughts: It's a must see episode of WOW with some new debuts and a huge swerve in the main that is going to have a lot of consequences on the rest of the season. I didn't love how it was done but I am interested to see where it goes. Reina/Tiki was decent as well. I would give this one a 7 out of 10 and would recommend checking it out if you follow WOW.
