Southern Illinois Championship Wrestling 11/3/2024

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2024/10/southern-illinois-championship_29.html

They are not in the studio today and are showing matches from some of the recent events. Herb Simmons is on commentary alone.

Curtis Wylde vs Waco

Waco backs him up in the corner. CW then does it to him and Waco complains CW pulled on the mask. Waco hits some punches and CW fires back. CW lariats him the nback elbows him. Waco then goes out to stall.

Waco wants to test strength but Waco boots him. Waco drops down on CW's knee. Waco butt drops the knee. Waco leg lariats him on the ropes. Waco chokes him with the knee then knee drops the knee. Waco pulls on the leg. Waco chops him in the corner.

CW back elbows him and boots him out of the corner. Waco misses a corner charge and takes punches from CW. CW elbows him in the head. Waco eye rakes him and CW hits a uranage. CW then gets the win.

Thoughts:
It was an okay match here with Waco doing the usual heel stuff and CW making his comeback to win. The crowd was a bit into it which was nice and CW did a good job here as a face.

"Big" Joe Helms vs Shogun

Joe throws him off the lock-up. Shogun tries some chops then Joe clubs him. Joe hits chops in the corner then hits a corner splash. Joe hits a big boot then legdrops him for 2. Joe suplexes him. Joe does a cartwheel into a lariat.

Joe hits corner chops and misses a corner splash. Shogun hits some shots and Joe shoves him down from behind. Joe atomic drops him and back elbows him. Joe hits a TKO. Joe goes up top and diving shoulder blocks Shogun. Joe hits a chokeslam and gets the win.

Thoughts:
It was nice to see Shogun get some offense in for a change and not be immediately squashed. It was about average overall with Joe winning as expected.

"Roughcut" Rick Ruby vs Joe Vinetti

They lock up and Rick clubs on him. Rick hits chops. Joe ducks clotheslines and hits his own flying clothesline. Joe dropkicks him. Joe is sent to the apron then he slingshot rolls into a flatliner.

Rick chokes Joe then hits an overhead belly to belly suplex.

Rick leg lariats Joe on the ropes then misses a splash. Rick chokes Joe then foot chokes him. Joe hits punches then is knocked over. Rick hits corner lariats. Rick misses a corner splash and Joe top rope dropkicks him for the win.

Thoughts:
It was about average. Joe didn't get a ton of offense in on this one but did win here as expected as Rick doesn't usually win a lot.

Glenn Williams vs Jayson Breed

Sean Vincent is with Glenn as usual. JB wristlocks Glenn. Glenn reverses it and JB hammerlocks him. JB side headlocks him then shoulders him over. JB hits a cannonball in the corner. Glenn and Sean talk outside and JB goes after them with a cane.

Glenn stomps JB as he gets back in. Glenn hammerlock ddt's him. Glenn pounds on JB then camel clutches him around the middle rope. Glenn boots JB in the corner. Glenn suplexes him. Glenn sleepers him and JB running knees him.

JB corner splashes Glenn then misses a splash. Glenn then pins him with his feet on the ropes.

Thoughts: It was shorter than you would expect here. It wasn't much of note here with Glenn winning as expected.

Sean Vincent gets on the mic after and puts over Glenn. He says to stand when your champ is in the ring. Glenn gets on the mic. He asks Buff Bagwell if he's lost. Buff gets in the ring and says nobody knows or cares who Glenn is. Buff threatens him and they end up fighting. Glenn gets knocked down and the segment ends. It was really hard to hear most of this.

AIWF Title - Strap Match - Steve Fender (c) vs Gary Jackson

They have to touch all four corners to win here.Steve attacks Gary as he enters. They trade shots at ringside. Gary's head is banged off the apron. Steve's head is banged off the steps. Steve hits chops and punches. They get in and Steve whips Gary with the strap.  Gary is tied up in the ropes then Gary hits some punches and elbows back.

The ref is knocked over on accident but gets back up. Steve hits corner punches. Gary hits some punches and Steve fires back. They go outside and Steve is pulled into the post with the strap.

Gary chinlocks Steve. Gary rolls him up for 2. Steve stomps on Gary. Gary pulls Steve's neck forward. They fight over the strap. Steve hits chops and touches 3 of the buckles but is pulled back.

Gary back elbows him out of the corner then backslides him. The ref tells Gary there's no pins though so it doesn't matter. Gary elbows Steve in the neck then Gary hits Steve with the strap. Steve chokes Gary with the strap.

Steve whips Gary with the strap. Steve tries to hang him with the strap and chokes him as he touches the buckles. Gary touches the buckles as well with Steve not noticing. Steve goes for the last one and Gary stps him. Gary gets booed into the corner and touches the last buckle as he goes in. Gary wins the match.

Thoughts: It was mostly all punches, elbows and chops. They looked fine and all but there's only so much excitement in it. The finish could have been a little better.

Overall thoughts:
This show only had some matches from a past event. The big issue was that they didn't recap what lead up to the matches so it was hard to get invested and the matches came across as almost random. They also filmed the show from the balcony so we only got an overhead view of the action. While we could see everything, we couldn't get any close-ups or anything. I wouldn't recommend this one and found it to be tough to watch.
