The Fiend with Alexa Bliss vs Randy Orton
Alexa came out with black face paint and unwinded a giant jack in the box. The Fiend popped out of it. Orton is wearing rare white trunks.
Fiend started off by lariated Orton off the box and we had the awful red lights on for the whole match. Orton backdropped the Fiend on the announcer's table but he didn't sell it. Orton whipped Fiend's head into the box.
Fiend went for Sister Abigail, and flames shot up. Bliss then appeared on top of the jack in the box in all black with goo running down her face .Orton then won with an RKO in a short match with a very lame ending. Fiend stared down Bliss after and htey both teleported out. I hope this is the end of this awful storyline. We had something like 4 months of build for this turd.
Hulk and Titus talk in the back with Eri Bischoff. Bayley then comes in. She said Hulk and Titus didn't answer her calls and invited Eric on Ding Dong Hello. Eric said he'd like ot have Bianca Belair on the podcast after the match she had last night. Bayley was angered by this. Eric then asked about Hulk's new boat and he dipped out. Titus joined them and gave Bayley his hat.
Not to much happened early, then they had a face to face with Nia and Tamina. They traded headbutts and Nia flipped for a double back body drop. Shayna was then dropped on Nia.
Natalya hit a big release german on Shayna then Shayna was catapulted into a Tamina superkick into the gut. They sold it like she got it in the face though.
Shayna hit a stiff punch, kick and big knee combo to Natalya. Nia then slammed Tamina on the floor. Shayna stomped Natalya's ankle then Nia legdropped it. Nia picked up Nat with one arm then Shayna knee'd her. Nat then came back with a spinning clothesline on Nia, but Nia came back with a powrbomb.
Tamina got the hot tag in but Shayna interrupted it. Tamina samoan dropped her for 2. Tamina got stuck up top and was pulled down then Nia crossbodied both Tamina and Natalya at the same time. Nia talked trash to Tamina and got a back hand then Tamina slammed her for a close 2. Tamina went for a splash from the top but Nia moved.
Natalya put Nia in the sharpshooter but Shayna came up from behind with the choke and won it. The crowd was really into this for some reason. It wasn't that bad or anything but Nia really isn't good.
Special Guest: Logan Paul - Sami Zayn vs Kevin Owens
Owens won this one with a stunner. They busted out big moves from the start without any real rhyme or reason and this was about as indy as it got. Logan talked to Sami and Owens after, and when Logan went to congratulate Owens, Sami flipped. Logan pushed him off and Sami ran out. The crowd turned on Logan then Owens stunnered him. I'm really surprised Logan allowed himself to be made to look like a fool here when he is so far above any of this.
Riddle was seen riding around on his scooter in the back. He ran into The Great Khali and Runjan Singh. Riddle wanted to see Khali's HoF ring. Riddle told him he should open up a store for giants and Khali shook his head. Rob Van Dam then appeared. Khali talked in his language and RVD translated for him. He gave both his custom rolling papers and said good luck.
WWE United States Championship - Sheamus vs Riddle
Riddle's birds had pirate hats and eye patches. Sheamus shouldered him early and Riddle came back shots. Riddle took a swinging slam and the irish curse for 2.
Sheamus hit chest clubs and went up top. Riddle hit a top rope spanish fly on him then senton'd him. Riddle hit an impressive jackhammer for 2. Riddle went for a buckshot move and then took a big pumping knee. Sheamus hit the alabama slam.
Sheamus was german suplexed on the apron then Riddle hit a floating bro from the 2nd rope to Sheamus on the outside then did one to him on the inside. Sheamus tried a top rope white noise but fell then just did a normal white noise and did a top rope knee on him for 2. Riddle went for another floating bro off the 2nd rope and Sheamus booted him in the face for the win. Riddle spit up blood after.
They didn't really sell much here and just did big moves. There were way too many kickouts and while they did put out a big effort, it wasn't a smart effort.
Corbin did a snickers commercial wanting a hardcore biker costume and looked real silly in it.
We then had a Triple H and Bad Bunny video. Triple H said he did well at Mania but now it is time for him to do what he does. Triple H gave him a briefcase with some kind of staff in it and Bunny rode off on a 16 wheeler. They then showed Bad Bunny's upcoming tour dates.
WWE Intercontinental Championship - Nigerian Drum Fight - Big E vs Apollo Crews
I'm expecting them to fight with a bunch of people banging drums at ringside. Wale did a rap here for Big E. There is just some drums at ringside for here with no one playing them which is lame. They both go out to grab kendo sticks to start. They hit each other with them and Big E gets the edge. E grabs a gong but Apollo stops it and hits him with kendo stick shots. E then spears him off the apron then Crews comes back wit ha death valley driver on the apron.
E is laying on the bottom half of the stairs and Apollo tries to drop the top half on him, but he moves. Apollo then takes a uranage off the apron to the steps. Apollo beats him with the kendo stick and puts him on a table. Crews frogsplashes him off the top but E moves and he lands on the table. E then hits the big ending and Babatunde/Dabba Kato comes out. Babatunde attacks Big E and chokeslams him. Apollo then gets the win.
This gimmick was lazy and disappointing. The match wasn't that bad though as they match-up well together. Crews finally got the win here after trying for months and still needed help doing it. I'm afraid this isn't the end of it though unfortunately.
WWE Raw Women's Championship - Asuka (c) vs Rhea Ripley
I'd really like to get my hands on whoever turned Rhea from a very attractive woman into a punk rock lesbian. One of the worst transformations I've ever seen.
They get off to a fast pace with Asuka trying pin attempts. Rhea stalls outside and Asuka goes after, with a knee to the face. Rhea picked Asuka up for a backdrop but threw her down chest first. Rhea then sent her back with a nice dropkick. Rhea went for a kick and was put in a knee bar. Rhea powered out though with a german. Asuka got put up top and hit a top rope missile dropkick, then Asuka hit a german. Asuka hit a hard spinning high kick then butt bumped her for 2. Asuka went up top again and was dropkicked down.
Asuka ddt'd Rhea off the apron to the floor. They came back in and Asuka hit Kawada kicks but Rhea came back with a bunch of stomps. Rhea deadlift suplexed her from the outside to the inside while on the bottom rope. Rhea hit a pumphandle bomb out of nowhere and won it in a sudden ending.
They worked hard, but they did big stuff and didn't make the most of it. The selling just wasn't there and they didn't bother too much with the bigger vs smaller girl storyline.
WWE Universal Championship - Roman Reigns (c) vs Edge vs Daniel Bryan
DB gets locked Roman to start. He was then thrown out. Jey Uso was outside and superkicked him then threw him int othe steps. Edge was tossed out too and took a Jey superkick. DB tope'd Reigns but DB then took another superkick from Jey. Edge got hold of Jey though and threw him into the steps.
Edge threw Roman into the apron and rails multiple times before throwing him into the post. Edge then hit his ddt onto Uso on the bottom half of the steps. Jey was carried out by refs and DB went head to head with Edge in the ring. DB went for a top rope hurricanrana but Edge rolled through it for a 2 count. DB missile dropkicked Edge.
DB ducked a clothesline and tope'd Roman but was caught and belly to belly suplexed on the floor. Roman hen hit a usperman punch on Edge back in the ring. Both Edge and Roman tried to spear each other and collided in mid air in a cool spot. DB hit flying headbutts to both opponents while thye were down. DB kicked both Edge and Roman and buzzsaw kicked Roman for 2.
DB put Roman in the yes lock and Edge broke it up. DB then put the yes lock on Edge. Roman broke it up and started hammering DB. Roman hit a nasty powerbomb on DB through the table then was speared out of nowhere by Edge. Edge crossfaced Roman and Edge then did it with a chair piece in Roman's mouth. Roman teased tapping, but DB put Reigns in a crossface too. Roman is in double crossfaces and DB and Edge headbutt each other, then DB mounts and pounds Edge.
DB went for the running knee but Edge speared him then Roman. The ref was pulled out during that count though by DB. Edge chaired both opponents Edge conchairto'd DB then Jey Uso came in but got speared. Edge then chaired Jey and took a spear from Roman. Roman then hit Edge with a conchairto and stacked both Edge and DB on top of each other to win.
It was a pretty good match. Not great but they had some cool spots and it was cool to see the conchairto again. It felt like they could have gone longer and did more though. Roman winning was by far the least interesting result though and I did not expect him to win.
Overall thoughts: Night 1 was a much better night. The finishes weren't good here and this card had a lot more filler than the card from last night. I think Mania could have easily been a 4 hour show.
