Wrestlemania Weekend 2021 Catch-All April 9th, 2021
Like a moron, I did not clear out my schedule for this. I looked at the cards and I thought I wouldn't enjoy most of it, so why bother? (That ended up mostly being true by the way) But I did regret that choice somewhat.
There's two events going on at the same time for most of the day. There was actually a third set of shows that went on through another promotion called GCW, but it wasn't streamed for some odd reason. AEW also had a house show, but it didn't air.
It's just a shame what happened with the pandemic because pre-pandemic we had some all star cards and had various Japanese promotions coming in.
GCW Allie Kat's Real Hot Girl Shit
This is taking place in a parking lot and half the people on this show aren't actually girls.
Willow Nightingale vs. Brooke Valentine (GCW Allie Kat's Real Hot Girl Shit)
These are two big girls here. Willow has a pink fro and has quite the unique look. One of them faked an injury early though I had shut off the stream when it happened. Willow hit a moonsault for the win and this wasn't too bad from what I saw.
ACTION/SUP Have Fun, Be Sad
They appear to be wrestling at a bar or a cafeteria with a silly fish painting and some other unusual paintings.
JD Drake vs AJ Gray (ACTION/SUP Have Fun, Be Sad)
I hate AJ Gray. JD is wearing normal clothes here and looks much better doing it. They traded a bunch of hard chops here and botched the pinfall finish. Didn't look too bad before that.
Tasha Steelz vs. Trish Adora (GCW Allie Kat's Real Hot Girl Shit)
Tasha kicks the hand on the handshake attempt early. Steelz hits a back elbow later and Kiera cheapshots Trish while she is near the ropes. Things slowed down and they started trading strikes then Trish hit a spinning side slam on her knee. Trish put a nasty looking armbar on her but they just kind of rolled over and it was broken. They traded some pump kicks and Tasha hit a falcon arrow for the win. This wasn't any good. The pace was slow, the crowd was dead and the work was just sloppy.
Allie Kat vs. Billie Starkz (GCW Allie Kat's Real Hot Girl Shit)
This was low-rent indy crap. Allie put on a lot of weight and looks bad now. They did the usual sloppy stuff the women do on average and Allie was too big for Starkz to handle. Starkz dropped her once on a side slam and Allie did a hip attack in the corner and completely missed, by half a foot.
Myron Reed vs. AC Mack (ACTION/SUP Have Fun, Be Sad)
Redd legdropped Mack through the ropes then slingshot legdroppeed him. Myron then did an outside to inside slingshot codebreaker. Mack came back with a double corner knee charge. Reed tope'd Mack into the stage. This was super fast paced for the first half here and Mack hit a neat looking spinning one arm ddt. Myron kipped up then ate a jumping side kick.
Myron went up top and Mack jumped off the 2nd rope for an enzugiri on him nad powerbombed him down for 2. Reed fireman's carry him then flatlinered him as his legs were bridged on the ropes. Mack went on the apron then Reed jumped over the top to cutter him to the concrete floor, then springboard 450'd him for 2. Mack came back with a pedigree and won it. This was really rushed here with Reed going 100 MPH and just bursting through his moves. The cutter over the top to the outside was sick and should have been the finish but it ended up not meaning much.
Derek Neal vs. Logan Creed vs. Manders vs. Alex Kane(ACTION/SUP Have Fun, Be Sad)
Logan is a big dude with facepaint and bad gear. Manders has a terrible name and is working a cowboy gimmick. Logan gers belly to belly suplexed over the top lightly onto two others then Kane topes them all. Kane belly to belly suplexes Manders. Creed does a cool curbstomp but is not rpotecting his size at all. Manders flips him with a lariat, which Creed should not be doing.
Kane ducks under two people trying to hit him at once and they end up nailing each other. They did a tower of doom spot. Creed did a tope and took out Manders and Neal on the outside and Kane hit a big german on Creed. Manders then doctor bombed Kane for 2. Kane did a very unusual leg and snapmare hold suplex and won it over Manders. This was rushed and was a lot of people trying to get some cool spots in. If Creed can learn how to work, he will undoubtedly get somewhere based on his size and if Kane can improve his physique, there may be something there too.
Arik Royal vs. Daniel Makabe (ACTION/SUP Have Fun, Be Sad)
Makabe is chubby and is wearing a baseball style shirt. Royal wore an African style shirt to the ring. He has a one strap singlet which always looks a little odd. Royal hit a nice dropkick early on and Makabe hit some punches from his knees. They did some strong style stuff here and Makabe for a knee off the top with no knee pad and landed straight down on it. Royal then pounced him over the top to the floor. Royal ended up winning this one a little soon after, but I missed so much of it I hate to comment on it.
Adam Priest vs Matt Makowski (ACTION/SUP Have Fun, Be Sad)
MM hit a nice high kick early and some judo throws. He was kneeling on the apron and rolled through into a choke. Priest came back with a splash on MM's back. MM did a triangle kick and a couple of nice suplexes. MM hit an awesome forearm and Priest ended up reversing a move into a pin attempt. I really liked what I saw of this as Priest's style was going to work well with an MMA type of guy, which MM is.
Jon Davis vs. O'Shay Edwards (ACTION/SUP Have Fun, Be Sad)
Not a fan of O'Shay's name. Maybe if he was Irish it would work. JD takes a spinebuster to start and they rush into a jackhammer. JD hit some hard corner shots with forearms and elbows and Shay came back with right and left clubs. Shay no sold some slams then took a hard kick to the back. JD hit some nice gut punches. O'Shay won this with a sitout driver. I liked it when they were trading strikes but not so much when they were doing the rest.
FinnJuice vs Violence is Forever (ACTION/SUP Have Fun, Be Sad)
This was an unusual match. ViF is usually heel and FJ is usually face. Both ended up working face kind of and they just had the usual back and forth indy match. They really did put out a lot of effort here and had an extended finishing sequence. However, there was a screwup on a count and there was a botch or two. Not a bad showing though for ViF at all and they really have come together as a team, but this would have been so much better with face and heel roles.
GCW Acid Cup 3 - Day 2 4/9/2021
Round 2 of the Acid Cup:
Calvin Tankman vs Dragon Bane
Not a fan of this at all. This was a really easy match to do but Bane was going toe to toe with Tankman and even canadian destroyered Tankman, but it didn't mean anything. Tankman then won with a Tankman driver.
Lee Moriarty vs AJ Gray
They got off to a slow start and hit nice forearms later on. They didn't do too much before they had a sudden ending with Lee pinning AJ.
Arez vs Cole Radrick
The chat for this one spent half the match discussing who had the worse look as Arez has one furry boot and Radrick just looks very indy with a red and blue singlet. No crowd heat at all for this. Radrick ended up winning this one.
Jordan Oliver vs Brayden Lee
Oliver's opponent isn't here, so he is fighting Brayden Lee. Apparently they fought yesterday. This is either the 3rd or 4th no show this weekend for GCW. I missed a lot of this but it didn't look too good with no heat and a stupid kick out on an avalanche blue thunder.
GCW R Spring Break
Ironbeast (KTB & Shane Mercer) vs. 44OH! (Bobby Beverly & Eric Ryan)
I only saw some clips of this and this had someone going through a door and then a top rope fallaway slam for the finish.
Arez, Black Taurus & Gringo Loco vs. Aramis, Dragon Bane & Laredo Kid
Kid starts off with an amrdrag off the shoulders on Loco. He then cartwheels onto his shoulders and Loco cartwheels out of a hurricanrana. We get a stand off in the ring with all 6 men then everyone goes at it.
Aramis hits a satellite headscissors on Taurus. Bane ends up on Taurus' shoulders and gets tope'd by Kid, then we get two more topes. We get triple springboard 450's by Kid's team. Arez hits double tilt-a-whirl backbreakers, then a gutbuster. Bane is gorilla pressed into a mostly missed Taurus powerbomb then Arez spinebusters him and headstands him for a Loco dropkick.
Kid gets thrown up while on the middle rope and is speared hard on the way down by Taurus. Loco then hits a big moonsault on him. Bane back rolls and then backflip kicks Loco. Taurus then cleans house on his opponents. Kid sits on the top rope, Aramis jumps up there then Bane joins them and they hit double moonsaults from a tope con giro from the top at the same time.
Bane hits a standing spanish fly on Arez then takes a big backbreaker from Taurus. Aramis hits a nice side spanish fly and Loco hits a top rope falcon arrow on Aramis. Kid hits double 2nd buckle moonsaults on Loco. Kid and Arez walk the top rope at the same time then Kid poisonrana's him from the top rope. Loco drops down for a cutter on Kid.
Aramis posionrana's Taurus then is double stomped on his back by Arez. Two peole are on Loco's shoulders and Arez cutters Loco who is up on the 3rd story. Armis is pop up samoan dropped then Bane crucifix drivers Taurus. Arez takes a reverse airplane spin and Kid then does a moonsault frokgsplash to the outside. Bane then runs up the ropes and does a tornillo to the outside. Aramis then torture rack bombs Arez for the win.
The spots were cool, but this had no real flow and was no MOTY or anything even close. It was just a collection of cool moves from start to finish.
Joey Janela vs Chris Dickinson
This went on forever and they did a bunch of hardcore stuff. I was so far tuned out by the time this ended and didn't like this one at all. Chris should have taken Joey down and beaten the crap out of him in a 3 minute squash.
GCW World Championship - Scaffold, Glass Panes, Barbed Wire Boards and Light Tubes Match - Rickey Shane Page (c) vs Nick Gage
they interrupt the intros to go at it. Page is thrown into the tubes early then has one slammed over him. Page is irish whipped into a glass pane then is hit with another tube. Nick then facewashes him with tubes. Page then legdrops Gage through a barbed wire board.
Nick chairs Page and bangs his head off of chairs that the fans are holding up. Page gets sent through glass next to the scaffold. Page comes back and elbows a tube through Nick's back then Nick takes a sick back body drop through glass over the top rope.
Page breaks a tube over Nick's back then suplexes Nick through a flat line of tubes on the outside. Nick lands hard on the gravel that is covered by just a little bit of mat. The stream cuts out andboth are back in thge ring. Page throws glass at Nick's eyes and nails the ref. Nick then spinebusters Page.
Nick tries to carve MDK into Page's back with a tube. Page climbs the scaffold. Gregory Irons gets in and is piledriven, then Effy comes out and carries him away. Nick then gets jumped again by two other guys. We get a cube wrapped in light tubes with glass on top that is put on a table.
Matthew Justice and Joey Janela clear off Page's crew. Nick and Page finally get to fighting on the scaffold. Page is thrown off and misses the table but gets some of the tube cube and glass. Nick then slams the tube cube on Page's back. Page gets his back carved again but he pops up and choke backbreakers Nick and the ref.
Aticus Cogar comes down to help Page. Nick has skewers put in his head and we get 2 story set up of glass panes on chairs. Bret Lauderdale comes in and hits Cogar with tubes then Nick powerbombs himself through the two planes of glass in a big botch. Page then takes a choke back breaker and Nick wins it.
The selling was awful here and there was obviously little story telling. The botch at the end was also bad. But they had some cool spots.
Nick spray paints the GCW title and throws it, then unveils a new one. Jon Moxley comes out after and goes face to face with Nick. Nick gives him the finger then they brawl. Mox ddt's him then double underhook ddt's him on the tubes. Nick gets on the mic after and calls him a p*ssy.
