WWE NXT UK 4/1/2021

WWE NXT UK 4/1/2021

Last week's show is here: https://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2021/03/wwe-nxt-uk-3252021.html

Tonight's main event is Pretty Deadly vs Amir Jordan and Kenny Williams. PD should win this one and I don't think it will be any good.

Aoife Valkyrie vs Stevie Turner

It's the battle of the bad names. No one can pronounce Aoife and Steve is a dude's name. Stevie said she has a bad habit of taking things to the next level. She said she is four dimensional while NXT UK is 2 two dimensional. Yeah, I don't get it.

Stevie takes her down early and works her arm. AV does a nice leapfrog and dropkicks her. AV fights out of the corner and does a springboard ryder kick. AV goes under Stevie in the corner and Stevie backcrackers her. Stevie foot slaps her and AV hits some bad windmill slaps and a spin kick to the head. AV then hits a stiff legdrop over the back of Stevie's head to win. This wasn't that bad but this wasn't that good either.

They promise us a face to face meeting between Walter and Rampage Brown. I'm really curious if they bring up the Ciampa vs Walter defense or not.

A-Kid does a video package. He talks about getting a lot of media coverage and said he is a role model. He said he is excited to watch Bate vs Dar next week to see who will challenge him.

Piper Niven comes to the PC to work out with Jack Starz. Jack wants to do all these workouts and Piper said there is more to wrestling than that. Piper says she can beat anyone including the boys, which I disagree with. Piper has Jack beat up on a weighted bag which was unintentionally funny.

Josh Morrell vs Teoman

I think this is Teoman's 2nd match. He makes a bunch of faces and we are told is pointing to his "evil eye". Nigel says he has a "manic aggressive style".

Teoman takes down Josh to start and works his arm. Josh backflips and goes up over Teoman's head to escape a wristlock. Teoman slaps him hard and they exchange shots. Josh gets tripped and takes a hard dropkick to the head on the ground.

Teoman hits a nice gut punch then a sliding uppercut. Teoman handspring back elbows and hits a nice forearm off the ropes. Josh drops him with an elbow after thye exchange then Joshi does his twisting corner flip on his feet. Josh standing moonsaults Teoman, but Teo gets his knee's up. Teoman dropkicks him in the back of the head and double stomps his back and chest. Teoman then crossfaces him for the win.

I liked this better than Teo's other match. He has a rougher style to him and Josh is always good. Decent match.

Sid Scala sits between Rampage Brown and Walter in the back.  Walter is asked if he is the greatest NXT UK champ and he pretty much has to be since he is the only NXT UK champ. He said he is the longest reigning champ. Brown said he doesn't take this lightly and he's ready for Walter, but is Walter ready for him?

Brown said he beat Walter when he first came to England and Walter asked what he did since then? Brown said he was doing it before Walter came and Walter said he was waiting for Brown to step up and challenge him. Walter said Brown is nothing special and isn't fooling him. Walter says he will never understand what it is like to be him or what it is like to be champ and Brown says "we'll see". This wasn't a good segment. Walter's as legit as you can be on this brand and Brown hasn't done that much. He was always going to lose the debate since Walter wins clean and in dominant fashion. They should have not aired this because it made Brown look bad.

Kay Lee Ray is headed to the ring.

We get another video package with Gallus. Wolfgang is getting set up for a street fight against someone and wins while Joe Coffey trains boxing.

Kay Lee Ray comes out. She said she asked for the best competition and got Meiko Satomura, who is all that and more. She said she beat Meiko and says she proved all the people wrong who thought she would lose the title. She said she is still the champ and tells everyone to get used to it. Emilia McKenzie or Millie McKenzie then comes out.

McKenzie said she has been waiting for the right time to return and said their paths would cross soon. Ray says she doesn't see why their paths can't cross right now. Isla Dawn then jumps McKenzie and Ray laughs. She gets ready to superkick McKenzie and Meiko comes out to make the save. All 4 brawl and Mckenzie and Meiko clear off the heels. We'll have to find out more about why Isla Dawn did this.

We get a video package on Noam Dar. Bate said he is no one's doormat. Dar said he has something prove and Bate said he is a tidal wave coming for him. Dar says he is feeling dangerous.

Kay Le Ray and Isla Dawn are in the back. Sid Scala has a message for them from Johnny Saint, saying they will fight McKenzie and Meiko next week. Ray says she doesn't like Sid and Isla stares down Sid.

They run down NXT UK Prelude next week and don't mention Walter vs Ciampa at all, so it's clear Ciampa isn't winning.

WWE NXT UK Tag Titles - Pretty Deadly vs Kenny Williams and Amir Jordan

We have about 17 minutes for this and I'm hoping this doesn't go that long. PD have great looks but aren't the greatest in the ring and Williams and Jordan don't really have anything that sticks out. Amir hits some dropkicks on Stoker early. Kenny stands on Howley's face as he twists his foot and while the ref is distracted, Howley pulls Kenny's hair to get out. Kenny takes a big hiptoss then is thrown by the wrists by both.

Amir grabs the arm and Kenny double axe handles it off a springboard. Amir dropkicks both opponents at the same time and Kenny hits a top rope euro uppercut on Stoker. Howley accidentally hits a big right cross on Amir's head. Amir chases Howley and Stoker hides low to surprise him with a clothesline on the outside.

PD do a legdrop + splash combo for 2. Amir gets catapulted but lands on the 2nd rope and kicks Howley hard in the face. Stoker knocks him off the 2nd rope though. Howley hits a nice body slam on Amir. Amir crawls under the legs of both PD members to tag out.

Kenny gets in and stomps Stoker a bunch of times then walks up the 2nd buckle to bulldog Stoker. He then springboard back elbows both. Kenny plancha's Stoker on the outside. Stoker is supposed to catch Kenny on a dive but can't and ends up taking a hurricanrana. Howley takes a big bump over the top to the barricades. Stoker does a nice backroll to double kick both opponents then PD hits "crossing swords", where they do over and under crossbodies at their opponents.

Amir hits a top rope swanton then Kenny hits a satellite ddt onto Howley for a close 2. Lewis leapfrogs Amir and Amir goes right into a Stoker DDT. Lewis pushes Stoker into the ref and both go down. Kenny hits a big lariat on Lewis but he rolls out of the ring and everyone is down.

Kenny grabs the belts outside and throws one at amir. He tells him to use it and Amir debates. Kenny tries to use it but Amir stops him, saying they don't need to cheat. Kenny throws out one belt and then nails his own partner with the other belt! Kenny leaves. Stoker holds up Amir and Howley neckbreakers Amir for the Pretty Deadly win. Pretty Deadly On Top yet again.

The match ended up being good. The work was basic but the heels were heels and the faces were faces and it genuinely seemed like Amir and Kenny might pull it off. The screwjob ending wasn't that bad because the story with Williams and Jordan has been all along that Kenny will cheat to win and Jordan won't, and this followed up on that.

Overall thoughts: Having a good main always helps the show and the main was good here. Teoman/Morrell was fine and Aoife/Stevie was passable so it ended up being a decent show. The only real downfall of the show was the Walter/Brown face to face meeting as Brown did not give off a convincing argument for a possible win.
