WWE Friday Night Smackdown 2/12/2021

At 5 minutes in, Reigns, Heyman and Jey Uso meet Adam Pearce in the ring to start the show. They pipe in "you suck" chants which are so ridiculous. Roman tells Pearce he has no authority over him and he's here to wait on him. Why does a man like Pearce have so little power?

Roman talked about Edge. He said Edge is scared because he knows Roman will beat him up. Pearce has a contract that says Reigns will defend the title in the Elimination Chamber like Drew McIntyre. Heyman tries to make the case that Roman doesn't have to defend the title in the Chamber due to his contract. Paul asked Pearce if he will fire Reigns if he doesn't defend in the Chamber? Paul said the winner of the EC will get an immediate shot after.

Pearce said he will hold qualifying matches tonight for it. Pearce said Jey will be in it but he doesn't need to qualify and neither does Kevin Owens. Reigns gets up in Pearce's face about this and gets mad until Paul pulls him away. Again, like with the Rumble qualifying, I think it is bogus that some people automatically get in and others don't. 

Sonya Deville and Pearce meet up in the back. They were hurrying to put together some matches and Sonya said they should do some tag matches to get some people in the Chamber quick. It's odd to have tag matches decide this since the Chamber has nothing to do with tag teams.

Elimination Chamber Qualifier - Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio vs Sami Zayn and King Corbin

Sami got on the mic and said he should be automatically put into the Chamber and didn't like that he has to win a match to get in. He said it's especially unfair since him and Corbin don't see eye to eye.

Dominik hits a huge tope on Sami early and takes a header into the announcer's table. Rey hurricanrana's Corbin over the top. We go to break and come back. Rey hurricanrana's Corbin into the middle rope and Dom flips over Sami from the wheelbarrow position. Dom does a tornado ddt off the 2nd rope on Sami for 2. Sami slingshot sentons over the top onto Sami then does the same onto Corbin.

Sami hits a blue thunder bomb on Dom for 2. Rey does a top rope la silla to Corbin then the Mysterio's hit double 619's to Corbin. Sami exploder suplexes Dom into the buckles then hits a helluva kick to win. This wasn't bad at all for the little time they got and it was one of Dom's better performances. 

Sonya and Pearce were watching on when Ziggler and Roode came in. They wanted in on the Chamber match. Sonya didn't seem to love the pitch but said they have to beat Daniel Bryan and Cesaro in a tag match to get in.

Reginald came up to Sasha in the back. He said he was sorry for what he did last time and it won't happen again. Reg was asked if he really thought Sasha can beat Bianca and he said yes. He then gave her champagne.

Big E said he beat the odds last week against Crews and Zayn. He compared himself to Tom Brady. He said he made a bond to be a fighting champ and much like the bond between hair and gorilla glue, it was strong(There was a news story this week where a woman put gorilla glue in her hair and it wouldn't come out). Apollo Crews then came out and signed himself to a match for the IC Title against Big E. E said he was going to challenge anyone, except Crews. Crews then questioned whether he was a fighting champ or not. The sound screwed up as they argued. E told Crews to go to the back and said they were done. Nakamura then came out.

I'm kind of on E's side here about Crews getting his chance already.

Intercontinental Title - Big E vs Shinsuke Nakamura

Crews is hanging around outside as we go to break and return. E did his apron splash onto Nak and Crews jumped on the apron. E got him to get off then Nakamura attacked E. Nak hit a flying knee off the 2nd rope onto E for 2. Nak charged in on E in the corner and was uranage'd down. Crews came in soon after and dropkicked E. E was then given this one by DQ. This was short and only existed to continue the Crews/E angle.

The whole locker room came out and surrounded the ring for Seth Rollins' return. Why? Don't know.

 

Seth said it feels good to be back. He said a lot has changed as he is now a father. He said he is surrounded by a lot of talented wrestlers and wondered where he fits in. He said he is the great leader SD needs to push it into the future and make it greater. He said he can be your leader and teacher and everyone left ringside. He said we need to embrace the vision for a better Smackdown and gave a cheesy smile. He looked surprised that everyone had left except for Cesaro. Rollins said he knew Cesaro would get it and see his vision. Cesaro said something and left, then Seth clipped him then attacked him. DB came out and saved Cesaro.

They did a package on the Elimination Chamber.

Bayley vs Liv Morgan with Ruby Riott

Liv threw her jacket at the camera. Morgan dropkicked Bayley to start. She limbo'd out of a lariat and dropkicked Bayley as she laid on the 2nd rope. Then she missile dropkicked her for 2. Natalya and Tamina were watching from the back. Morgan dove off the steps into Bayley, but Bayley moved and she took a nasty face first fall into the rails.

Morgan springboarded off the 2nd rope and facebustered Bayley hard. Bayley did a neat shoulder breaker onto Liv which Liv sold well. Liv then did a side codebreaker for 2.  Billie Kay came out to give a picture to Ruby, which she declined. Ruby threw the pictures and they went into the ring, then while he cleaned that, Bayley raked the eyes then got the win with a face plant. This wasn't bad at all and Bayley laughed at Billie as she left.

Cesaro and Daniel Bryan were interviewed in the back. He said Seth wasted their time but he would take advantage of his time in qualifying tonight. DB said something, but the Thunderdome micing is hard.

The Street Profits were at the Daytona 500 and gave a title belt to Chase Elliot. He gave them helmets and a plastic cup with his number on it.

The Street Profits vs Otis and Chad Gable

The SP's did an inset. Dawkins said he is here so he doesn't get fined and Ford said they want to smoke. Otis and Gable trained in an inset. Otis did squats and a spinning lariat. Gable then sprayed him with smoke.

Dawkins and Gable mat wrestled. Gable and Dawkins exchanged arm drags. Ford flipped over the ropes to get in.  Ford did a cool handspring backflip out of the ropes and tried a back leapfrog but was put down. Dawkins backflipped Ford onto Gable. Gable hit a neat belly to belly on him.

Otis came in and hit some body blocks then popped-up and slammed down Ford. Then he did a big overhead throw on Dawkins. Otis did the caterpillar elbow.Dawkins sunset flipped Gable but he tried a pin and got 2. Dawkins tagged in Ford, then Ford hit a big frogsplash to win in a short but entertaining match. Not much story but the pace was good and they had some good moves.

Sasha Banks came out as The Profits were leaving. They had no issue with this and danced with Sasha.

Sasha Banks did a promo. She said Bianca's choice was easy as she should choose her. Bianca Belair then came out. She said Sasha isn't the boss of her and she will enjoy taking her time. Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler then came out. Nia said they had big ego's. Nia said she didn't care who Bianca chose for the Rumble. Shayna said people should be talking about their tag title win instead of Bianca's win. Sasha then showed footage of Baszler losing after Nia and Shayna said they were on a roll. Sasha said that wasn't the right footage then Nia told them don't, because the footage was going to be of her loss to Lana where she yelled "my hole". Sasha mocked her and all four fought. They dropped Nia on her butt again on the apron. Bianca held up Shayna and Sasha knee'd her. 

Cesaro and DB talked in the back.

Elimination Chamber Qualifier - Cesaro and Daniel Bryan vs Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode

We have a little under 10 minutes for this. DB and Cesaro double suplexed/slammed Ziggler early and Ziggler came back with a dropkick. DB tried to tope Roode, but he ended up hitting a tope on Cesaro after Roode moved. DB was sent into the stairs then Sami and Corbin came down.

We went to break and as we came back, DB was getting beaten up. Reigns was shown watching this on a TV. DB did a top rope dropkick onto Dolph after they went up top. Roode got in and hit DB with a spinebuster for 2. DB was hit with a combo sitting powerbomb/neckbreaker but was able to tag out to Cesaro soon after. Cesaro cleaned house and hit a pop-up uppercut on DZ for 2. DB hit a flying knee on Roode and Ziggler hit a fameasser on Cesaro for 2. Cesaro did a reverse fireman's carry into a backbreaker on Ziggler then hit a giant swing and a sharpshooter to win it. This was rushed as they didn't have much time but there wasn't anything wrong with it.

Jey Uso snuck in from behind after and hit Cesaro with a chair. Cobin and Zayn then beat up DB., then they beat up on Uso. Sami turned on Corbin though and hit him but was hit with a knee from DB. All chaos broke out then Kevin Owens came in. He hit some stunners on 4 different people and Roman was shown watching and rubbing his head. Owens then said he was coming for Roman and they are not done. He said he is not going away.

Overall thoughts: Not a bad show at all with some good wrestling.
