Impact Wrestling 2/16/2021

This probably won't be a regular thing as there is too much stuff on, but I wanted to check an episode out.

X-Division Championship - TJP (c) vs Josh Alexander

Josh wrestles him down. TJP goes for an octopus and then Alexander counters with an ankle lock but neither can hit their submissions. TJP does a spinning headscissors but Josh turns it into an ankle lock, which TJP escapes. Josh hits a backbreaker then works the ankle. Josh turns it into a surfboard and after TJP escapes, he gets slammed on Josh's knee. TJP tries to hang on with an armbar and Josh bangs his face off the turnbuckle.

TJP gets stretched and is able to reverse it into an octopus stretch. He then turns it into a double reverse armbar while he sits on Josh's back. Josh goes back to the ankle lock but gets rolled out of the ring then TJP does an inside springboard to a dropkick to Josh on the apron. TJP crossbodies him and face kicks him. Then he hits a tornado ddt for 2. TJP goes up top and rolls out of a swanton bomb. He sits on the apron and Josh crossbodies his back and knocks him off of it. Josh jumps off the top and is met with a dropkick.

TJP high kicks him and they fight up top. Josh is slammed down and puts his knees up on a TJP splash. Josh ankle locks him but ends up in the octopus stretch again. TJP backdrops him and catches him with a fireman's carry into a kick. TJP then frogsplashes him for the win. I liked it when they were doing submission stuff, then it went off track for a bit and they went back to the submissions.

Tommy Dreamer was talking to Scott D'Amore and was interviewed. Dreamer said everything doesn't revolve around Moose and he must beat some sense into him tonight under Old School Rules.

Brian Myers arrived in the back and met up with Hernandez. Brian paid Hernandez as promised and said he'd give Hernandez half up front then half after he beat Cardone. Fallah then came up to him and said he can offer him more. Fallah said he's an investor and said if he gets $20, he can make $40. Hernandez gave him $10 and said we can talk after.

Trey Miguel vs Willie Mack vs Suicide vs Daivari

Daivari takes a double dropkick from Trey and Suicide early. Trey and Suicide duck kicks then armdrag each other at the same time before doing kip-ups at the same time. Mack runs through a double clothesline then double shoulders Trey and Suicide. Suicide trips Mack while he has Trey's leg and Trey is dragon screw leg whipped. Mack falls outside after trying to go after Suicide, then Trey is flipped over the top rope.

Daivari knocks Suicide off the top then throws him hard into the corner.  Daivari and Suicide fight up top. Mack sitting powerbombs Daivari and Suicide dives on him. He gets caught and samoan dropped, then Trey is samoan dropped. Mack then standing moonsaults onto Suicide and Trey. Daivari missile dropkicks Mack from the top then Trey drops double knees on Suicide from the top to win. This was fine and action packed from start to finish. It was a little short though.

Sami Callihan runs into Trey in the back. He mock congratulates him and said Trey couldn't win when it mattered at No Surrender. He said Trey doesn't have passion.

Scott D'Amore congratulates TJP for the title defense then Ace Austin walks in. Ace said they are conspiring against him and said he deserves an X-Division title shot. Scott said a lot of people deserve a shot including him. He said next week we will have a 6-man tag with the winners facing off the next week in a 3-way in a #1 Contender's match. Ace said they can make him jump through hoops, but the outcome is inevitable.

Matt Cardona vs Hernandez

Matt gets bullied around a little then dropkicks Hernandez. Hernandez goes outside and Matt flip dives on him. Back in and Hernandez pops up Matt into a low blow then shoulders him off the apron.

We go to break and when we return Cardona escapes a headlock. Matt hits a big missile dropkick and gets pounced with a shoulder. Cardona gets whipped into the ropes and hits radio silence(jumping leg drop on standing opponent) for the win. The majority of this was cut off by a commercial and it is hard to judge either way.

Matt gets interviewed after. Matt is asked about Brian Myers and he said he is not here to talk about him. He said he isn't here to pass the torch but to light a brand new one. Myers comes in and says he was here in Impact first. Matt asked what the deal was then Hernandez nails him from behind. Eddie Edwards makes the save and clotheslines out Hernandez then dives on him.

I haven't seen all of this angle, but everyone knows Myers and Matt are friends and it makes no sense to have them feud.

Tony Khan and Tony Schiavone wish us a Happy Valentine's Day and do a paid advertisement. Khan said he got no gifts for it but he gave Impact a gift of revenue by doing a paid ad. Then he pimped Dynamite and said Eddie's match against Archer is a V-Day gift.

Havok and Nevaeh talked backstage. Navaeh wasn't happy about losing and questioned if they should be a team. Kaleb and Tenille Dashwood interrupted. Tenille said she needs a tag partner and called Nevaeh extra baggage. Neveah then challenged her to a match right now which Tenille accepted.

Reno Scum(Luster the Legend and Adam Thornstowe) vs FinnJuice(David Finlay and Juice Robinson)

FinnJuice tags in and out. Luster takes a double bulldog and spinebusters Finlay. Adam slams down Luster's head into a headbutt but Finlay moved on it. Juice came in and cleared out his opponents with punches. Juice then cannonballs Adam in the corner. Luster takes a double dropkick and Juice clotheslines himself and Luster over the top. Adam takes a superplex from Finlay then a frogsplash from Juice for the FinnJuice win. This was very fast paced and was very short in length.

The Good Brothers then come out. Gallows calls them the young boys and they talk about how much they love young boys. They mock them for having to carry their bags when they were rookies and said they should go get beer. Then they said they should just buy The Good Brothers' beer instead. Juice said they aren't young anymore and things have changed. Finlay said they can buy the drinks but make sure Karl doesn't pass out and wake up in his own pee. This wasn't good.

Rohit Raju is with Shera at the bar. He blames Shera for costing him a title match at No Surrender. Then Raju gets knocked back into Storm, hitting his beer. Storm told hm to apologize and buy him a beer and Raju declined. Then Storm nailed him with a beer bottle. Shera got up in Storm's face and Sabin tried to talk him out of it.  Swinger then invited them to his bar and took the tip money Storm gave the bartender.

Storm and Sabin went to Swinger's Palace. He gave them beer and they sat down at a card table with girls. Fallah Bahh came in and asked for the card dealer to hit him. He lost and then Swinger kicked him out which Bahh didn't like.

Tenille Dashwood with/Kaleb with a K vs Nevaeh

Nevaeh ran her into the post and she took a hard fall to the floor and then we went to break within a minute of the start of this. We come back from a long break and Tenille is pulling on Nevaeh's hair. Nev hits her with a sliding lariat. Tenille catches her over the middle rope and drops her neck on it in a neckbreaker. Tenille bangs Nev's head off the mat for 2 then takes a spinning side slam. Nev hits a high knee then an STO before doing a sliding bulldog.

Tenille gets dropped on her face and chest and Nev kicks the buckles in frustration. Tenille sits her in front of the bottom buckle then crossbodies her and wins soon after. This wasn't any good and the commercial cut out a lot of this.

Violent By Design did a promo. They said Jake Something will be punished for not joining them. He said if he fails the win the tables match next week, he will be punished too.

Deonna Purrazzo and Kimber Lee went up to Susan. They tried to stop her from askin for a match against Jazz. Susan then asked for her and Lee to get a knockout's tag team title shot instead and D'Amore said he would put them in a #1 Contender's match for them.

Old School Rules - Moose vs Tommy Dreamer

Dreamer hits Moose with punches and Moose goes over the top. Dreamer baseball slides him and they go outside. Dreamer goes into the post then Moose yanks on his face. Dreamer then bites him and chokes him with a bandana. Dreamer gets a chair and we go to break. WHY? Someone's about to get hit with a chair!

We come back after a long break and Dreamer has a chair around his head and gets it nailed on the post. Mooses hits Dreamer with a cookie tray. Dreamer is put on the rails then Moose hits him with a trash can lid. A trash can is put between the buckles and Dreamer is thrown into it. Moose hits a big dropkick. Moose talks trash to a downed Dreamer then Dreamer grabs him by the nuts.

Moose goes into the trash can he set up then is hit with a cutter. Dreamer hits him with a trash can lid, then a cookie tray and a chair. Moose gets a table from under the ring in the corner. Dreamer spears Moose through it. Moose takes some cane shots but powers up and rock bottom's Dreamer. Moose then spears Dreamer and wins it. This wasn't any good. Tommy's pretty limited and wasn't a great worker in his youth, yet alone now.

Overall thoughts: The wrestling wasn't bad, but the commercials were awful here interrupting everything. The Myers/Cardona stuff is bad and Dreamer really shouldn't be in main events.
