We are in San Antonio, Texas.
We see Adam Page after WrestleDream. He asks if Samoa Joe lost his mind. He said he gave him a title shot and failed. He said he warned him and says he will ruin his life when he finds him.
AEW Trios Titles - The Opps (Samoa Joe, Katsuyori Shibata and Powerhouse Hobbs) (c) vs The Hurt Syndicate (Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin and MVP)
SB and KS trade side headlocks then armbars. SB lariats him. Joe tags himself in and goes at it iwth Bob. Bob hits shots in the corner. Joe corner forearms him. Bob flatliners him. SB comes off the top and Joe walk away. Hobbs lariats SB over the top then Hobbs is lariated over the top. KS kicks someone then is kicked by MVP. SB step up knees Joe in the corner. Hobbs powerslams SB. Joe sentons SB.
We go to PiP break and return. KS stomps and foot chokes SB in the corner. Joe hits punches on SB.
Joe chinlocks SB then stomps on him. Joe hits forearms on SB. They slap each other. SB hits punches then is chopped. SB pendulum ddt's Joe. Bob gets in and belly to belly suplexes KS. He neckbreakers him then dominators him for 2. Bob and Hobbs trade punches.
Hobbs blocks a full nelson then they double clothesline each other. KS PK's Bob. Joe and MVP get in. Joe eye rakes him. MVP hits his ballin elbow drop for 2. Bob spinebusters Hobbs then Joe puts a choke on MVP. MVP jawbreakers out. Ricochet comes to the apron. MVP is distracted and MVP taps out Joe.
Thoughts: The match was fine but a little rushed. I would have liked to have seen it go longer as I liked what we got. I don't want to see The Demand fight The Hurt's again but it's clear that feud is still not over.
The Hurt's chase The Demand. Tony Schiavone interviews The Opps. Joe is asked why he did what he did to Page. Joe says when you have Hobbs around, it's good to have fat San Antonio women around to keep him occupied. Joe says he will hunt Page as long as he is champ. Joe says Page may think this is just cowboy sh!t. He says he will slap him and make him his b!tch. Joe says they stand in opposition to everyone and is never lacking.
We see Mercedes Mone arrive earlier in the day in a car with men holding her titles.
Kris Statlander is interviewed. She says if there is anyone she could have fought and stripped with then made up with, it's Toni. She says beat Toni twice and won the Women's Title and asked if Mone did. She says she's so much more than the person Mone beat. She challenges her for Full Gear.
Darby Allin comes out to talk. Darby says he's willing to go places for the company that no one else will go. He says he will die for this place. He says he was never going to quit at WrestleDream but is wearing the scars. He says he knows The Death Riders won't go away. He says as long as The Riders are breathing, he's not far behind.
Jack Perry and Luchasaurus do a promo at WrestleDream. They say they are one of the best teams of all time and said they beat The Bucks, one of the greatest of their generation. Jack says they are here to take it all and their world tag titles.
Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford vs Willow Nightingale and Harley Cameron vs Jamie Hayter and Queen Aminata vs Skye Blue and Julia Hart
The winners get to select their first round opponents in the Women's Tag Title Tournament. Willow hair throws Skye. Willow corner lariats Skye and side slams her. Willow drops Harley onto Skye. Skye superkicks Harley. Skye piefaces Ford and Ford pushes her. Harley knees Ford in the gut. Ford double throat thrusts Harley then forward cartwheel spears her in the corner. Meg hits corner spears on Harley. Jamie and Meg fight. Jamie hits forearms. Jamie facekicks her. Jamie corner lariats her.
Meg hits a double suplex then Meg and Ford hit stereo dives outside. We go to PiP break and return. Hart ropewalks and clubs Queen on the way down. She sliding lariats her from behind. Skye PK's Queen for 2. Willow is tagged in. She lariats Skye and Hart.
Willow hits corner lariats on Skye and Hart then spinebusters Skye. Skye tags an enzugiri. Meg rams Harley in the corner. Meg throws Ford into a cutter on Willow. Ford hits a double stunner and Meg hits a double german.
Willow blocks a doomsday device. Ford is crotched up top and Willow pounces Meg. Willow takes a double team. Ford takes a double boot. Ford then takes a headbutt into a lariat and is pinned.
Thoughts: I don't love the makeshift Queen/Jamie team winning here. The match was fine. They kept it moving and no one botched anything. Ford really got the crap beaten out of her here.
Jamie gets on the mic after. She says they shouldn't wait to choose their picks for the tournament. She says her and Queen choose Skye and Hart, who in theory, may not even be in this tournament since we don't know the brackets.
The Young Bucks are trying to talk to Tony Khan in the back. They are interviewed by Renee. They say they are poor and broke and don't know what is next. They say they will team with or wrestle anyway. Tony Khan then comes out and says he heard they wanted a money match. He says they should fight Jurassic Express and JetSpeed in a 4v4 $400,000 All-Star tag on Collision. He says they should team with FTR, who come out of his office.
Stokeley Hathaway gives The Bucks a dollar and says they may need this more than they do.
Renee is in the ring for Mercedes Mone's 12 belt celebration. Harley appears under the table with Mone's puppet. She pretends to be Mone talking about her accomplishments and asks Mone to do the CEO dance.
Mercedes Mone comes out and isn't happy. She tells the men holding her titles to go to the back. Mone kicks out Renee then asks what Harley Cameron thinks she is doing and ells at the fans. Harley mocks her with the puppet. Mone says Harley was begging to be her tag partner and is now mocking her. Mone says tonight is about her.
She says her accomplishments will go down as some of the best in wrestling. She says she's tired of the disrespect. She then shoves the puppet into the cake and says to laugh at this if she wants to laugh at something. Halrey then appears and Kris Statlander shows up under Mone. She drops Mone face first in the cake then spinebusters her through the table.
Thoughts: Kris is supposed to be the heel here but she was anything but. She ruined Mone's celebration at the PPV then did it here with Harley. This was bad babyface booking.
We see a Jon Moxley promo in the mirror after WrestleDream. He says he didn't deliver as promised. He says Darby's commitment to self-destruction will be his downfall someday. He says tomorrow the sun rises again. Mox says there's no one who does what he does. Mox says he knows who he is.
Jon Moxley vs Kyle O'Reilly
Mox side headlocks him off a hammerlock then armdrags him. Kyle leg lariats Mox. Kyle hits knees to the body. Kyle kimura takeovers Mox. Mox armbars him. Kyle then armbars him. Mox hits chops. Mox bites him.
We go to PiP break and return. Kyle facekicks Mox off the apron. Kyle drpkicks Mox off the apron. Kyle and Mox trade forearms. Kyle hits leg kicks and legsweeps him. Kyle triangle chokes him. Mox catapults Kyle's throat into the bottom rope to break it.
They trade strikes on the apron and Kyle armwhips him down on the apron. Kyle diving knee drops Mox's legs off the buckles and running knees him in the back of the head for 2. Kyle armbars him.
Mox lariats Kyle then piledrivers him for 2. Mox bulldog chokes him and Kyle ropebreaks. Mox misses a curbstomp. Kyle clips him. Kyle spinning forearms him and is facekicked. Kyle ankle locks Mox. Mox then forearms the ref down on purpose. Other refs come in then The Conglomeration comes in. Mox is DQ'd.
Thoughts: That was an unusual ending with Mox just randomly blasting the ref. It wasn't a bad match prior to it with Kyle doing lots of leg work and looking like he had a chance. There were lots of strikes as expected. I hope the finish is leading to something.
Kyle and Mox fight. The Death Riders come in and Mox ends up leaving.
The Death Riders (Claudio Castagnoli, Daniel Garcia and Wheeler Yuta) vs The Conglomeration (Mark Briscoe and Orange Cassidy) and Roderick Strong
OC rolls out of Yuta's armlock. Yuta then rolls out of his. Yuta knee drops OC's arm. OC armdrags Yuta twice. They trade pin attempts. They then stand off. DG takes down OC and rides his back. Mark hits forearms on DG. DG facekicks him.
Mark snapmares and sliding kicks him. RS and CC fight. CC corner euros him then RS flying leg lariats him. RS hits elbows and boots CC out of the corner. RS hits chops. CC euros him. RS backdrops Yuta on the rail top ouside.
RS dropkicks CC through the ropes and drops him on the rail top. CC gorilla press drops RS on the rail top. We go to PiP break and return. RS backdrops DG. CC karelin's lifts RS. RS olympic slams CC.
OC back body drops Yuta over the top rope. OC puts his hands in his pockets and hits a double dropkick. OC stunners CC then topes DG outside. Mark back enzugiri's CC. Mark throws Yuta over the top. Mark then corkscrew moonsaults onto the heels outside.
Mark fisherman busters Yuta. DG guillotines Mark and RS breaks it up. OC dives at CC off the top and is caught and pop-up euro'd. Mark facekicks CC. Mark takes corner attacks a flying knee for 2. Yuta hits downward elbows on Mark. Mark shot arm lariats Yuta. Mark jay drivers Yuta and wins.
Thoughts: It was the usual trios tag that we get on this show. I liked it. They kept things moving, we got some dives and it was fine. OC screwed around as usual though.
Pac attacks Mark after. Tomohiro Ishii hits forearms on Pac. Mox comes out then Shafir low blows Ishii. CC goes to throw OC on the commentary table. Darby Allin comes down and hits CC in the knee with a baseball bat. OC orange punches CC and the heels back off.
Mone is interviewed in the back. She's screaming and flipping out. Athena comes in and says this is her best look yet. Athena says they are both here to make history. She says it's time they do this again as Women's World Tag champs. Mone says she likes the sound of it. Mone says it could be title #13. Athena says they will get her cleaned up and go to minion training.
Kyle Fletcher and Don Callis come out to talk. Kyle tells the crowd to say his name. He says he defended his title at WrestleDream and beat Mark Briscoe. He says it's dumb between hin and Mark. Kyle says they could wrestle a million more times and he'd beat him a million more times. He says he will be TNT champ for a very long time.
Briscoe then comes back out. Mark says Kyle will learn he doesn't have to talk so much all the time as he grows up more. Mark says he won't let him talk that BS and come down and retort. Mark says it doesn't need to be a million more times. He asks for one more shot.
Don says Mark is a great wrestler and athlete. He says Mark sounds desperate. He says Mark has 10 kids to feed and he doesn't know how he focuses. His says his family is a financial burden. He says he needs a family like The Don Callis Family. Don says they will support him. He says no to the title shot.
We get the brackets for the Women's Tag Ttle Tournament. It's:
Queen Aminata and Jamie Hayter vs Skye Blue and Julia Hart
Willow Nightingale and Harley Cameron vs Mercedes Mone and Athena
The other side of the bracket has:
Alex Windsor and Riho vs Toni Storm and Mina Shirakawa
Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford vs Tay Melo and Anna Jay
Thoughts: We have 3-4 makeshift teams here. It's weird to have Toni and Alex going at it in the first round since they were all buddy-buddy a few months ago.
Mina Shirakawa is interviewed. She says she hasn't heard from Toni and she knows she's sad. She says they are the "Timeless Love Bomb". Thekla comes in. She says Mina lost her girlfriend. She says she will lose her mind, dignity and her life. Mina says she told her in Japan she'd fight her here. She challenges her for Collision. She says if you think Toni is sad now, she will cry when she does what she does to Mina.
AEW Unified Title - Kazuchika Okada (c) vs Bandido
They lock up. KO pump kicks him then shoulders him over. Band kips up and hits him. Band does a gun pose at KO and KO backs off. KO clubs Band then Band corkscrew headscissors him. Band runs into a KO boot outside.
Band armdrags KO outside using the apron. We go to PiP break and return. KO slams Band then top rope elbow drops him. Band top rope tornillos KO then pump kicks him. Band topes him outside. Band then tope con hilos him.
Band kips down out of a lariat and dropkicks him. Band hits a top rope frogsplash for 2. KO tombstone shoulderbreakers him. Band tries to get the doc to check his shoulder. KO elbows Band's arm and yanks it. Band urakens KO then does a GTS variation. Band hits a 21plex for 2. Band hurricanrana's him into the buckles. KO dropkicks him. Cand cradles him for 2.
Band runs at him in the corner and takes a hard double boot. KO takes a rainmaker from Band. Band hits a GTS variation. Band goes for a 21plex but KO gets out and rainmakers him to win.
Thoughts: It was alright but it didn't get enough time and wasn't as good as it could have been because of it. KO worked the shoulder a little here and Band did his flying.
The Don Callis Family comes out after and celebrates with KO. Takeshita comes out on his own. Callis and Kyle try to get Takeshita to cool down.
Overall thoughts: There was a lot of Moxley, Mark Briscoe and Mone here. The wrestling was alright here with nothing being bad. The women's tag title bracket doesn't look that great and there's a lot of makeshift teams involved as expected. It was an okay episode but we have a lot of time until Full Gear and they didn't rush to set up things for that event here. I'd give this a 6 out of 10 overall as it was fine.
