AWF PsychoticSlam 2000 Sydney 9/3/2000

AWF PsychoticSlam 2000 Sydney 9/3/2000

Note - The audio and video quality is not that good here. The video pauses a lot.

Submission Match - Punisher Pickford Vs Greg Stekker

PP shoulders him over then side headlock takeovers him. Greg headscissors him then is taken over again. GS leapfrogs him then samoan drops him. GS then armbars him. GS rolls him up and the ref starts to count but then they realize pins don't count here.

Greg ties his legs up and knee drops them. Greg fireman's carry takeovers him into an armbar but PP ropebreaks. Greg takes him down and I think PP calls him a "stupid b!tch". PP bangs Greg's head off the buckles. PP figure fours him.

Greg stomps his gut and legdrops him in the gut. Greg suplexes him then leg drops him. Greg then goes back to the armbar. PP spinning toe holds him. Greg rolls him into an armbar and PP ropebreaks. They shake hands, PP tries to kick him then is dragon screwed.

Greg stomps his gut then flying lariats him. Greg hits shots and PP misses a dropkick. Greg boston crabs him but PP escapes. Greg indian deathlocks him and drops back on the leg. PP rolls him out o an abdominal stretch into a leglock. Greg then rolls him into his own hold but PP ropebreaks.

Greg side slams him then misses a top rope move. PP submits him with an indian deathlock while holding the ropes.

Thoughts: It was fine. I would have liked to have seen PP do a little more leg work though. PP was the heel and Greg was the face. Greg mostly worked the leg all match before going down.

The heels (Jason Helton and Curtis A. Hughes) rip 7 Foot Thunder before the match. Jason says Steve O'Neil is a typical Australian boy who is really ugly. Jason says if Steve beats him, he can cut his buddy's hair but says there's no chance Steve can beat him. Steve says he will beat him in the middle of the ring and make him bald because Canadian's don't lie (he's Canadian).

Hardcore Elimination Match - Hardcore Superstar vs. Mandatory Sentence vs Thug Thomas

Hardcore Superstar talks before the match. Half of it is cut off by music. I believe he says someone named Josh Stewart is helping him.

Josh hits cookie sheet shots on MS and Thug. Thug is double teamed by HS and Josh. MS then is speared by Josh. Thug is thrown out and the heels pose. Josh is now outside of the ring. HS is double teamed. HS hits a double lariat. HS chops MS up then he and Thug run into each other. Thug is sent into the post shoulder first and hit with a stick.

MS ddt's HS for 2. Thug throws MS out then slams HS. Thug then splashes HS for 2. MS hits both opponents with a kendo stick from the outside. Thug is sent into the post outside and MS nails HS with a cookie sheet.

HS drops MS with a kendo stick then he water wheel drops Thug. MS hits HS with a cookie sheet. Thug kicks MS in the back then hits him in the butt with the stick. HS is hit with the kendo stick and sheet.

I think Thug staple guns HS in the head. Thug beats up on MS and HS breaks it up. HS hits MS with a cookie sheet then suplexes him. Thug is crotched on the rail outside.

HS powerbombs MS through a table. Josh slams MS and pins him. MS is eliminated.

HS beats up Thug more and pours out tacks. Thug is pumphandle slammed onto the tacks and pinned.

Thoughts: The audio was bad (so is the video) and I don't know how Josh, who isn't in the match, got a pinfall here. It was almost all weapons shots. It was maybe okay at first but was getting stale a little before it ended.

HS gets on the mic after and says something about WWE.

Havok vs. Crimson Mask

Mask has a black mask with a white LA Parka face on it. Havok has a long sleeve shirt on with flames.

They trade hammerlocks. Mask is snapmared and hit with punches. Havok misses a corner charge and is rolled up for 2. Mask lariats Havok for 2. Mask hits a stiff backdrop for 2. Havok hits shots and boots on Mask. Havok russian legsweeps him for 2.

Havoc lariats Mask for 2. Mask's head is banged off the buckles. Havok hits punches. Mask chops him. Havok is thrown out. Havok is sent into the post. Mask elbow drops him off the apron. Mask gets a 2 count inside the ring. Havok hits a nice reverse ddt off an irish whip and pins Mask.

Thoughts: It was a shorter one. Havok was moving around well. They kept it on the simpler side here. I was kind of surprised we didn't get some hardcore action out of this as both look like guys who would wrestle that style. I guess Havok was the face here but I'm not sure.

TNT comes out to talk with his arm in a sling. He thrusts as he says his name and tells everyone to kiss his @ss. He says he kicked some wrestlers butt all over the building and sent him to outer space. I believe he talks about 2 Cold Scorpio and says he has a receipt in the mail. I think he then says Psicosis will beat him in 3 falls tonight. He says he will bring out his protege, Lobo.

Lobo vs. Dos Blitzkrieg

They trade waistlocks. Dos trips him, ties his legs up then side headlocks him. Lobo ropebreaks to escape a hold. Lobo boots and elbows him. Logo hits a nasty looking pumphandle powerslam. Dos spinning heel kicks him.  They try to bridge up together but can't. Lobo backslides him then side headlock takeovers him. They try to dropkick each other at the same time then kip up together.

Lobo tilt-a-whirl side slams Dos. Dos then flying headscissors him. Dos basement dropkicks him. Lobo takes a nice bump over the top on a lariat. Dos then plancha's him outside but Lobo no sells it. Lobo top rope plancha's him outside but he gets met with a dropkick in mid-air.

Lobo is dropped gut first on the rail then has his head banged into it. Dos hits elbow drops then top rope frogsplashes him for 2. Dos misses a flying dropkick in the corner. Dos is crotched up top. Lobo springboard crossbodies him down to the floor.

Lobo tope con hilos him. Dos then suplexes him off the apron to the floor. Dos asai moonsaults him outside. Dos springboard swantons him for 2. Lobo backdrops him. Lobo then hits a stiff lariat. Lobo top rope superplexes him for 2. Dos reverses a top rope move and bodypresses Logo for 2. The crowd chants "ECW".

Dos slaps and chops him. Lobo rope walks but is crotched up top. Lobo sits up top and Dos hurricanrana's him. Dos hits a top rope ssp and wins.

Thoughts: Well, it was the most athletic match of the night. It was nice to see some dives but it went a little longer than it needed to and wasn't that good. Dos was a bit sloppy here.

Dos exits through the crowd after. TNT attacks Lobo from behind, I guess for losing, and ddt's him. TNT and Dos point at each other.

No Disqualification Match - Vulcan vs. 7ft Thunder

I saw Thunder on Obsessed With Wrestling back in the day and always had wanted to see him wrestle. Thun pushes him off the lock-up twice. Thun side headlocks him  then shoulders him over. Thun is tripped but gets a hammerlock on Vulcan. Thun shoulders him over.

Thun elbow drops him for 2. Vulcan is sent hard into the corner and Thun tries top in him with a foot on the chest. Thun hits knees to the body then he lariats him. Thun clubs on him then slams him. Thun legdrops him for 2.

Thun hits a big boot then knee drops him for 2. Thun hits knee drops. Vulcan elbows him out of the corner then double chops him down. Vulcan stomps him then michinoku drivers him for 2.

Vulcan hits chops. Vulcan suplexes him. Vulcan misses a top rope splash. Thunder then pins him with his feet on the ropes to win.

Thoughts: Vulcan wasn't bad here. He's a bigger guy and can move okay. Thunder couldn't move as well and didn't have the best offense here. Thunder also didn't look super comfortable. It wasn't that good.

Vulcan teases slamming the ref after and ends up dropping him.

Hair Vs. Hair Match - Jason Helton vs. Steve O'Neil

They lock up and trade hammerlocks and waistlocks. Jason trips him into a side headlock. Steve then trips him into a front facelock. Jason heads to the back and is told he will be fined $2,000 if he leaves.

Jason waistlock takedowns him. Steve then does the same. Jason stalls more outside. Jason chops him inside then hits an elbow drop for 2. Steve boots him in the gut and hits a fameasser. Steve chops Jason in the corner and corner splashes him. Steve suplexes him.

Steve russian legsweeps him outside. Steve then jumps off the stage onto him. Steve legdrop him for 2. Jason throws Steve out. Jason elbow drops him off the apron and bangs his head off a table outside.

Steve is sent into the rails and his head is banged off of the rails. Steve's head is pushed into a fence. Jason suplexes him on the floor.

Jason hits him with a cookie tray. Jason powerbombs him then drops him face first on a piledriver. Steve sky high's him. Steve elbow drops him for 2. Steve dropkicks him for 2. Steve slams him then misses a whisper in the wind. Jason sharpshooters him. Steve ropebreaks.

Jason is sent into his manager Curtis A Hughes on the apron. Steve top rope swantons him for the win.

Thoughts: It was a little longer and slower. The stalling outside earlier hurt some of the momentum this thing had going on. I thought Steve was okay as a face here but it wasn't that interesting.

Jason sitout powerbombs Steve. Jason sharpshooters him and Hughes comes in to stomp on him. Hughes goes to cut Steve's hair. Vulcan then comes out and stops this. Other wrestlers then come out and grab Hughes. They then cut Hughes' hair and then Jason's hair half-way.

Scorpio says Psicosis was the better man. He says he's not making excuses due to jet lag and said he likes to get his groove on down in Australia. He talks about TNT, saying he said he would stick something in his @ss. Scorp says if you missed it, you missed a hell of a show. He says TNT is a bit limp now and is saying his arm hurt. He says the AWF is where the big boys play. He says he has Psicosis' number and it's 420. Scorp says it will be on until the break of dawn and says may the best man win.

Psicosis does a promo. He says he's the champ and from Mexico City.

Best Two Out Of Three Falls Match - Psicosis vs. 2 Cold Scorpio

1st Fall - They lock up and let go twice. Psi trips him and goes for the pin. Scorp gets on top of him. Psi trips him. Scorp hammerlocks him on the mat then headstands while having him down. Psi wristlocks Scorp. Scorp flips out using the ropes and takes him over. They trade chops and Psi dropkicks him. Scorp then goes out to stall.

Scorp shoulders him over. They try to dropkick each other at the same time then Scorp crossbodies him. Psi dropkicks him in the knee. Psi ddt's him. Scorp superkicks him and spinning heel kicks him. Psi goes out and Scorp teases a dive.

They trade chops. Psi dropkicks him. Psi dropkicks him off the apron. Psi misses a la silla on the ropes and goes down. Psi step up enzugiri's Scorp. Psi is stuck up top. Scorp spider german's him. Scorp then hits a top rope moonsault and pins him.

2nd Fall - Scorp misses a chairshot then hits a van daminator on him for 2. Scorp wheelbarrow germans him for 2. Scorp bends over and is kicked. Psi spinning heel kicks him for 2. Scorp corner lariats him. Psi tornado ddt's him and pins him.

3rd Fall - Psi hits basement dropkicks then 2nd rope dropkicks him for 2. Psi hurricanrana's Scorp off the top for 2. Psi misses a corner la silla. Scorp slams him. Scorp hits a top rope splash for 2. Scorp splashes the ref then Psi moves. Scorp superkicks him then powerbombs him.

Scorp hits a top rope moonsault on Psi but the ref is down and can't count. TNT comes out from earlier. He tries to hit Scorp with a kendo stick but his Psi instead on accident. Scorp superkicks Psi and top rope twisting moonsaults him. The ref is still down on the pin attempt. Scorp then does a 450 and wins.

Thoughts: It was a condensed 2/3 falls match here. It didn't get a ton of time but the action was good. Scorp did a bunch of flying. I thought they did enough here but it wasn't really the epic main I was expecting.

Scorp talks on the mic after but they mute him and play music instead. We then see Scorp dance and greet the fans.

Overall thoughts: The audio and video quality is enough to turn away most people and I wouldn't recommend it just on that alone. There was nothing you really needed to see here. This was an indy show and the quality was always going to be at an indy level. Scorpio/Psicosis was the best thing on here next to the opener but it didn't get enough time and was basically a TV style match for them. I'd give this a 5 out of 10 as it was pretty average.
